Pictures are being placed into the 'DCIM\100GDSC' directory, but Onedrive is monitoring the 'DCIM\CAMERA' directory.
I renamed the 100GDSC directory to camera and the photos were uploaded. But when taking new pictures, the 100GDSC directory is recreated and pictures stored there.
I can't find a way to change the default location for the camera app.
I'm having the same issue on a Moto X. The solution seems to be for OneNote to let us pick a folder, or for it to figure out that the whole DCIM folder is worth uploading. Did you ever get anywhere with your G2?

i have taken some photos on my HD2, with the default setting of storage card in the camera app, but i cant find the photos in file explorer.
does anyone know the folder as i need to upload them to my pc
on mine it's storagecard/DCIM/100Media (DCIM is a standard name for many cameras and phones, it means digital camera images)
Anyone know how to have the gallery not scan every directory on the SD card. Right now it's showing anything that is an image anywhere.
So I see folders with all my mp3 covers, all the cache for any installed app. It's a bit much and really annoying.
make a blank file in notepad on your computer called ".nomedia"
Do not include the quotes obviously. Save it as all files, and not as a text file.
Now with your epic attached and mounted to your computer in mass storage mode, copy this file .nomedia to every directory you dont want scanned for pictures and music.

Click to collapse
Awesome, this is great. Thank you.
this works for most things but breaks music.
if you put a .nomedia in a directory with music then the music player doesn't show music in that folder. so i still have a bunch of galleries show up with album covers in them.
hopefully a new update will allow users the ability to filter out which directories to display and such. i too am having the same issue and its very annoying.
Hey guys,
Woke up this morning and all my camera taken pics are gone! They gallery opens up and there are folders listed with downloaded and sample photos, but no camera photos. Not even the "camera" folder was there. I just took a picture now and it created the camera folder and there is only the one picture in there that I just took. I had like 350-400 pics on there and poof they are gone.
Any ideas?
Anybody know the path on the SD card of where the pics are stored?
Thanks.
/sdcard/DCIM/Camera is where my pics are stored anyways.
I remember in my days with my Moment my gallery used to not always load the images. I would delete the directory /sdcard/Android/data/com.cooliris.media and then it would force the gallery to search the sdcard again to index all the pics. No idea if that's the approved process or if it works on the Epic (mainly cause I haven't had the issue), but it used to do the trick.
Search the market for Rescan Media. Useful tool to force a rescan for the gallery.
Un-mount and remount sd card should be ok
Sent from my SPH-D700
I can navigate the sd card anf the DCIM folder is ther, but empty. I unmounted and restarted the phone with a battery pull too, nothing. Ill try rescan media later. I just found out my lookout mobile app was also not set to back up pics
Hi everyone. Recently I saw my battery drains due to IndexService, and when I check internet one of the suggestion was to put .nomedia file to folders where there is no media file inside, so the battery usage of service will be reduced. When I try to do it made a mistake. When I copy .nomedia file accidentally I paste it to internal storage. Directly after that I deleted it. But now in my gallery all the photos in internal storage is not there anymore. From explorer applications I can see that all photos are still okay. But cannot find what is the reason for not getting my photos in gallery. BTW, not only gallery all other apps, photo editors or social media apps cannot access to the photos as well, but only file managers. Any tip will be appreciated. Thanks
Strange, my only suggestion would be to add another photo to the folder and reboot.
Hopefully that will force an update.
Thanks for your time and help
What you suggest partly worked. Means new photo I put into the folder was seen in the gallery but not the old ones.
Hi,
short question.
If i open the camera and take photos etc. i can open the gallery from the camera app. but is it possible to only show photos from "DCIM" folder there?
I hate seeing every whatsapp image in the camera app.
thanks in advance
Create an empty file called ".nomedia" inside the whatsapp image folder. That file will prevent the images from showing up in your gallery app.
There are other galleries out there that are pretty good, and group the pictures in folders.
I use F-Stop as my default gallery... You can hide folders/albums by simply long-press > Hide . "QuickPic" is good, "A+ Gallery Photos & Video" is good, "Piktures" is also good.
I'm sure there are other really good ones too, but those are the ones I typically rotate between, and have for a few years. As mentioned, right now I like F-Stop the best. Some are free, some cost to unlock "features".
Or do as the post above me mentioned with the .nomedia in that particular folder.
