Just wanted to say i have been an avid lover of my hd2 and this site for the past 2 years.
Not sure i made the right choice but i have just bought an evo3d simply because it was cheap with changing my phone i have also changed my userid.
So i just wanted to say many thanks to all the wonderful members and developers here that have helped me and my phone flourish. This was my first ever phone and i cannot believe how good it was.
Thanks.
I also upgraded to a Galaxy Nexus. It's not the same as the HD2. It was a cult.
What did you do with your old HD2. Sell it?
hey mate i really liked the look of the nexus or the s2 but with all the hype about the quad cores i was going to wait. but the deal on the evo was too good really.
i sold my hd2 to a relation they are still selling on ebay for nearly 150 they are a good phone. i reckon i will end up buying it back off him soon.
what did you do with yours?
I still have it. It has the NexusHD2 ICS Beta10 on it and other than the fast battery drain, I actually like it more than my new Nexus. I like the heavy, solid feel and the hard buttons.
I will see how the new HTC Edge/Endeavor is received and I might upgrade.
Yea I just upgraded too, but got the Samsung Galaxy S II, miss my HD2 a little, had it since launch, but my power button was out and I didn't fill like cracking it open. I'll still flash it every so often, theres not many ROMS for this phone yet, but ICS is coming, sooooo.

it is crazy with all these new phones. that we still keep our beloved hd2 closest to our hearts.
Truly the best phone i think i will ever own.
I still keep HD2 is my second phone, too.
It's my best phone until now

It's the very good phone. I'm using it and don't have any complaint about it.
Agreed, Thanks to one and all!!!
I've only recently received by HD2 as a hand me down with win6.5
Took the plunge last night and put Nexus ICS CM9 on it.

No probs so far.
From what I've read and searched, this little unit is going to be a rippa to work with - so looking forward to it.
I've been thinking about upgrading to a newer phone, but there are none that match the versatility of the HD2 yet! I don't know if we'll ever have another one as awesome either . I'm going to continue using my HD2 for the rest of the year, and buy the 2nd gen Xiaomi phone. It sounds like the closest thing to an HD2 follow-up to me.
So in light of the following news are HTC going to bring out something special or just quietly dye by the way side?

Bear in mind the current fiasco with ICS and the Desire HD.
So are you going to jump the HTC ship?
Ya well, the one series was a miss with consumers at large ,can't imagine what would have happened if the one x for example had sd card storage and a battery access
We can only hope they die a quick but painful death.
... unless they release ics source code then i don't care what they do.

I am already planning my jump over to Samsung rightly or wrongly, but they are talking about launching JB on the S3 and even the S2 in the very near future! And from what I have seen they seem to deliver what they say!
Well I wouldn't want them to die, afterall competition is always good, however I've decided that my DHD shall be my last HTC phone after all that has happened. I'm contemplating on waiting for the next Google phone, immediate updates and a bugless AOSP experience, what else could one ask for?
That is what you get when you mess with all the HTC Desire HD owners!!! Not releasing ICS for their most sold phone and telling their costumers lies about HTC Desire HD performance. And the same with HTC Desire.

Agreed, I cant believe they would release such a retarded phone and a clear attempt to copy the iPhone business model.
I'm due upgrade now but think ill just stick with my DHD.
They should have concentrated all efforts on savage battery life combined with expansion of mem.
That is the general consensus I am feeling form this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396842
It’s a shame that a company with a lot of promise has now just peed of its fan base and almost washed their hand of them.
If you look at the number of ROMs in the development thread you can see that people pretty much rooted their HTC Desire HD as soon as they got them as the hardware far out preformed the software that was loaded and any potential update (although we all knew these wouldn’t come to light! lol )

Don't forget Samsung is from South Korea, so why keep spending money on SK if you know that "everyone" in SK has a Samsung phone :silly:
I hope they won't cancel the ICS update for developers. They had the same problem with Gingerbread update for the Desire.
They never released it as an OTA update, but they released it for developers.
So let's hope they do the same with Desire HD (in the future).
About One-series. It's indeed a sad story, but I think why most people didn't bought the One-phones was because most of them were probably waiting to see the Galaxy SIII and it seems that the SIII is the number one choice now for lots of Android users.
That or the New Galaxy Nexus (fingers crossed it won’t be produced by HTC) that will ruin the Nexus name IMO

Why would HTC ruin it? I like HTC's hardware
1 months ago I planned to buy the One X along with one of my best friends and I almost sell my DHD (it even already entered the "For Sale" thread in one of Indonesia's largest community forum). But after I read so much informations from early adopter of One X about how bad is the HTC's quality control over One X hardware productions I hold my decisions to upgrade because I don't wanna spend my time dealing with HTC service center.

Hey guys after being a long time member in these parts of the forum with the evo 4g ive since then moved on to the evo lte and am now starting a movement to make htc release their source codes in a more timely manner just like users of the 3d did for bootloader unlocks. so i call upon you guys and the rest of the device threads i will post in to help spread the word about this and help out by sending messages to htc and spreading words amoung other forums. we have to reach as many people as possible. the thread i have started has links to all of their contacts be it email, facebook, and twitter and am going to post any things that people send to them and post in that thread in the op so others can use it or reference it.
thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29935276
Any thing you guys do will help a lot for not only the lte but hopefully all htc devices. were going for the whole lineup

Good luck man HTC has been being very appleish lately, I won't buy any of their products at the moment, and I've convinced alot of other ppl not to as well over this issue and the half ass unlock sh!t. I figured best way to get their attention is to hit em where it hurts, in their wallet. I convinced the IT guys at both my mom and dads works and well as mine not to purchase HTC devices for company phones, that's upwards of 20k employees who have company phones so that's 20k + phones that won't be HTC devices I also had the IT guys send HTC a letter and email letting them know they wouldn't be purchasing and HTC devices and why as well so HTC is aware they just took a huge hit. Especially considering all 3 companies had been using HTC phones since the HTC touch pro and the last batch bought was all Evo's now they bought a combo of gNex and gs3's and a few gNotes

Sweet ill pass it around, even tho I currently hate HTC maybe between this petition and the emails and letters sent about their loss of sales from company phones they will open their damn eyes and ears and see they have a problem and listen to the consumer of how to fix said problems. No one wants another apple floating in the tech industry

Hi to all,
I am using HD2 for about 3 years, and during this time thanks to the XDA community I was able to experience on it Windows Mobile 6.5, Windows Phone 7, Android 2.4, Adnoird 4.0.4 and Android 4.1.2. With the last two, I grow very attached to the NexusHD2 ROMs. Moving to the Native SD has improved the performance substantially in the last months.
After all this time, these ROMs helped me reinvent and use my device in many new ways, unavailable to WinMo 6.5 at the time.
What I want to ask you is which device do you think will be worthy successor of this marvelous device?
After the CES 2013, and my preference to metal casing and clean shapes, I’m looking forward to Lenovo K900, whit it’s 5.5” full HD display, 2 gigs of RAM, 13MP camera, and beefy Intel CPU, as possible candidate. What I don’t like is the customizations applied to the OS by Lenovo. Do you think there is a chance for Nexus port on this device.
As alternative I perceive the Nexus4 but despite it’s attractive price, and compared to the K900 hardware, it is more like 2nd best from my prospective. But the option to get the latest Android directly from Google is strengthening the offer.
Probably you have heard the rumors about the upcoming Android 5.0 premier.
I’m not planning to retire my HD2 yet, but with the latest Hardware offering on the market it is hard not to think about it.
Could you share your opinion on the topic?
currently, the google nexus 4. that's what i just bought anyway.
a true developer's phone with an unlocked bootloader, vanilla android etc.

a worthy successor must be able to do everything his predecessor could and better. if the google nexus is the worthy successor we can say goodbye to SD development.
There is no worthy successor and there likely will never be a successor to the HD2. There will probably never be another phone that can run WM6, Android, WP7 and all the other OSs that are out there for the HD2. Just look at HTC now and their locked bootloader crap. Hell, as far as I know, the One X still doesn't have S-OFF.

I have my HD2 in very good shape sitting in my drawer with WM custom KleaNex ROM on it,I bought it ,if not mistaken back in 2009 when it first came out, however never used it since I got the Samsung Galaxy Note II which I think is fully worthwile successor.

As far as the aesthetics go, I think the newly announced HTC One is potentially a true successor to our beloved HD2.
See e.g., http://www.theverge.com/2013/2/19/4004912/htc-one-everything-you-need-to-know
The only question is: Will it be as hackable?

I join the crew. The HD2 has no successor. Sadly enough 2 wks ago mine fell and the result was a black screen. I'm still waiting to get it back from the repairshop. It the meantime my wife saw how sad i was and bought me..... a One X. No need to tell that the first thing i did was to see what is written about it on XDA. how to root it etc etc. But i'm still waiting on my beloved HD2

The question is: Which phones are the devs buying? Especially people like Cotulla...
Right now you probably should go for the S3 or the Nexus series. Or I would definitely get a WP8 device if someone can port Android to it.

They make great phones, the only brand I have used since vzw started selling them. They have just been mis-managed
the last five years. They have never put the necessary money into advertising to sell their product to a wider audience
the way Samsung and Apple do. The average cell phone customer probably has never heard of HTC.

who the hell cares if he's right
consider this the HTC One was released early this year, it's indeed 2013 phone of the year, ask any SGS3 / SGS4 convert
if HTC is indeed in the red knows, this gives them two years before sale or change of owner ship or even going private, even then under a new form they are most likely to continue operation (they are Taiwan's most prized)
until then? plenty of time for the world to enjoy the HTC One and the software updates are flowing like water
so enough drama, this phone is fulfilling it's job for this year and the year to come
It's the phone of the year, 90% of the world's press agree, otherwise you are missing out
Thata boy HTC!
DESERVED!
This went downhill pretty quickly
The topic here is the HTC One winning awards. Criticising other manufacturers, or even talking about their rumoured acquisition is not supposed to be here. Promoting Samsung shouldn't be here either. You can talk about whether the One deserves the awards, but I think a battle between the manufacturers belongs elsewhere.
I'll be watching the thread.
After giving them another try after the Desire HD (Inspire 4g in 'Murica). The One X and One have both been incredible pieces of hardware. How they have not been more popular I'll never know.

I think this is a huge win for HTC.
This is a software win as well which is, to say the least, mind blowing. I never thought HTC would get here. Sense finally has gotten to the right balance of being functional without being intrusive and lagging the device. The speakers are great and all but what really makes this device is the amazing software that powers it.
You have to give it to HTC for optimization when you see their underclocked Snapdragon 600 chip device (both CPU and GPU) that is running the older LPDDR2 memory take out devices with faster clock speeds and faster memory in every day performance. HTC has struggled with that since the Windows Mobile days and they've finally found their balance.
HTC won me over with the One. And I swore off HTC after the disaster that was the Sensation... Hopefully they can keep churning out winning devices! :highfive:
I like how HTC being not famous...makes it even more unique having their product...poor those enslaved by samsung plasticky, well I am one before One X and the One
