[Q] Samsung Apps Disappeared - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I opened Samsung Apps this morning and it said that there was an update so I went ahead and installed it. Now Samsung Apps is completely missing. I checked the application manager and it is missing there as well. I there any way to get it back?

You could always pull it from a ROM and push it to the system.

I finally called Samsung Support and I ended up doing a factory reset.

[Q] *Stock/Unrooted* Methods I can use to update to MF9, my phone won't update

Hi, I'm not sure where exactly to post this but being that it's a Q&A thread I thought it would be alright.
So this past week I was excited to hear that my Sprint Galaxy S4 (SPH-L720) was set to receive an OTA update. I've been waiting since I got the phone to be able to move my apps to my new 64gb sd card along with the lag being fixed. However, after several days (5 I think) I still haven't received an update, it's possible Sprint is still rolling it out to people. For the record my phone is unrooted and I haven't tinkered with any internal files apart from what I mention here and I'd like to keep my phone unrooted.
I tried using Samsung KIES to update the firmware, it had told me I had an update available and I went through the firmware upgrade process. I was disappointed to find that everything was exactly the same, no apps2SD, HDR video, or legibility settings. Later on I was a bit suspicious as to what Samsung Kies installed as now I have a VPN client app that I hadn't noticed before, a Samsung Knox "app" and 2 watchON apps under Application Manager/All.
Next I decided I would just find the OTA file somewhere here, which I did (bfeb51f4befc9f910dff1c6070f2d387aaac37de.update_SPH-L720_MDL_CSB_user_RP_to_MF9_CSB_user_RP.zip), and apply it from my SD card. When I did this I got several errors "Assert failed: Apply patch check", "tmp/sideload/package.zip" and something about "nfcnci.apk". The phone stops the update after a minute or so and reboots, leaving everything the same with no update applied.
Can someone help me out on what I can do to get my phone updated?
You can try going to application manager and wiping cache and data, then stop the app for "Google framework services" and then going to "Update Samsung update" in the system update menu to force the update. You may have to go through the steps several times but it did finally work for me after quite a few attempts. BTW, after doing so, you wont be able to download apps in the play store until you delete your Google acct and then sign back in.

Thanks, I tried this but no luck. I'm hoping that the OTA update won't have any problems installing since the manual update failed.

Make sure when you go to update it has the last date checked 1969, also be on Sprint network not wifi. I tried dozens of times on wifi as soon as I went on Sprint it took.
Still won't work for me

What update did kies offer? I have the vpn app preinstalled but no knox app. Are you sure it was for the right model because the zip file on sd card shouldnt fail like that if you are unrooted, stock.

Yes I'm sure I have the right file for the my phone. From what I read this update should have worked. But for some reason it didn't.
Before kies I was running MDL update and after it finished I was still running the MDL update

I would like to know too! Running SACS V8. Have no desire to update. Would like to know how / where to remove the update from the phone.
freeze SprintID
Well, as far as I know, if you are running a custom recovery (twrp, cwm, etc.) you can click to update. However it will fail because of the custom recovery and should stop bugging you about the update.
I also believe there is a way using root explorer you can delete a certain file, then when you click to update nothing runs. That though you'd have to search for more details.

First I froze fwupdate.apk using Titanium Backup like most threads say to. I think that only prevents it from downloading, but if the update file has already been downloaded, then you'll continue to get notifications.
I then deleted the actual update file from the \cache folder. Still shows under Notification.
So then I removed Notifications from the actual app that displays it - called Google Services (or something like that - don't have phone with me so can't look right now - but you can long-press on the notification to get App Info, then go in and remove Notifications).
Edit: Apparently you don't have to remove all notifications from Google Services, just clear the cache. Btw, my phone is rooted and I had already removed SprintDM.apk and ALL other Sprint related stuff (SprintID, etc) and it still downloaded the update and prompted me.
I woke up on Fri with the update icon on my phone . I'm on mf9 and not ready to update just yet.
This is what I did to get rid of the update notification.
Using root exp go into etc/security/and change otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bat
Then go to system/app/and change SprintDM.apk to SprintDM.apk.bak
I then went into recovery and wiped delvik and cache then rebooted
When it rebooted the icon was still there so I restarted the phone and after it rebooted the icon was gone.

Long press it in the notification tray and then tap "app info" after that uncheck show in notifications.

So I got the update notification again! I had already removed SprintID long ago (and all other Sprint apps) and frozen fwupdate.apk.
Somehow my phone still downloaded the update zip again. I can only think it has to do with one of the Samsung apps which I kept.
Anyways, decided to go into system/build.props and change all the MF9 to MFA. Let's see what happens now. Going to keep Google Services Framework notification on to test.
Well, I changed the build.props file and it cold rebooted fine to the lockscreen but once I enter my pattern code, the screen seems to go completely blank. I have to press the power button twice to go back to the lock screen again. Seems it doesn't like you changing MF9 to MFA in the build.props file!!!!!
Now how to change it back without having to do a restore.....can't see anything or do anything within the phone app itself since screen is blanked out. Any ideas anyone?
Edit: Nevermind, a hard shut down and reboot seems to have fixed whatever glitch that was. Odd....
Fotakill.apk, that worked for me when I was on MDL
Don't know if it works on MF9.

Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped.

Hello XDA Team,
I'm facing a problem right now and needs your help,
I rooted my Galaxy S4 with Kingo Android ROOT, after rooting I installed titanium backup and then I removed built-in appz mean gmail, earth, sbrower, which are installed in phone from the samsung. Samsung's official appz. So, I removed them via titanium backup, but while removing I suddenly removed play store app and I had not any backup of it. After then I regret over it. As a matter of fact, I wanted to remove blotware from my S4 but instead of removing them, I removed appz using titanium backup without taking any backup. But then I installed play store again, and when I opened it, it opens for a little while and then hangs and suddenly shows an error, "Unfortunately, Google play service has stopped".
Since then, Its been showing this error. I've installed many other version of play store but problem never solved. I un-root my phone as well and then checked but problem was same. I clear the cache, reset the preferences but nothing solve my problem. Everything else going fine and ok but whenever I opened play store it shows the error and return back to home screen. It was mine obsession that in this way I could remove blotwares but I didn't succeed. I hope XDA team can help me to retrieve my play store back as before.
I'm sure they'd help me.
Hey, I have the same problem with Nexus 5, any ideas?

If you haven't already got a recent backup, take one now.
Then you can reinstall firmware which will bring back the Play Store and everything else. Use Mobile Odin to retain root, or use desktop Odin and root once firmware is installed.
Give it time to catch up (it will probably need to download latest versions of the system apps) then, once it is all settled, you can restore your missing data from the backup.
If that doesn't work, repeat but do a factory reset too. You'll lose all your data stored on your internal memory so take copies if it is important.
**Try clearing the temporary of Play Store and Play Services.. ** Sorry didn't read all the way

[Q] Probably the 1millionth post about 5.0. Pandora problem.

So my wife and I both have galaxy note 3 phones. Today we upgraded to Android 5. 0. when my phone finally booted back up Pandora had been completely uninstalled. My wife's phone still had Pandora but when she tries to open it it says an unexpected error has occurred. When I try to reinstall Pandora from the Play Store I get error 505. I've tried to go to third party websites and download older version of Pandora and when I am installing the app it says application not installed. I have gone into my applications and clear the cache and data from download manager and Play Store. Both of the phones have been completely restored to factory settings. The app just will not install on my phone and will not work on my wife's phone. Has anybody else experienced this? Thanks in advance.

Google Play Store Crashes When I Start a Download

So today, I got my Canadian GS4 back after about a year without it... So the first thing I did was hop on the play store and start updating apps. It got about halfway done updating the over 80 apps, then I had to leave WiFi. When I came back to it, anytime I started an update, Google play store crashed no matter if I clicked update all, or picked an individual app to update. My phone is currently:
Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337M)
Android 4.4.2
Rooted
I am really loathe to do a factory reset as I don't have regular access to a computer to re-root in the near future. Any help is greatly appreciated.
You could try clearing cache and data for google play and then try updating apps
