Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped. - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA Team,
I'm facing a problem right now and needs your help,
I rooted my Galaxy S4 with Kingo Android ROOT, after rooting I installed titanium backup and then I removed built-in appz mean gmail, earth, sbrower, which are installed in phone from the samsung. Samsung's official appz. So, I removed them via titanium backup, but while removing I suddenly removed play store app and I had not any backup of it. After then I regret over it. As a matter of fact, I wanted to remove blotware from my S4 but instead of removing them, I removed appz using titanium backup without taking any backup. But then I installed play store again, and when I opened it, it opens for a little while and then hangs and suddenly shows an error, "Unfortunately, Google play service has stopped".
Since then, Its been showing this error. I've installed many other version of play store but problem never solved. I un-root my phone as well and then checked but problem was same. I clear the cache, reset the preferences but nothing solve my problem. Everything else going fine and ok but whenever I opened play store it shows the error and return back to home screen. It was mine obsession that in this way I could remove blotwares but I didn't succeed. I hope XDA team can help me to retrieve my play store back as before.
I'm sure they'd help me.

Hey, I have the same problem with Nexus 5, any ideas?

If you haven't already got a recent backup, take one now.
Then you can reinstall firmware which will bring back the Play Store and everything else. Use Mobile Odin to retain root, or use desktop Odin and root once firmware is installed.
Give it time to catch up (it will probably need to download latest versions of the system apps) then, once it is all settled, you can restore your missing data from the backup.
If that doesn't work, repeat but do a factory reset too. You'll lose all your data stored on your internal memory so take copies if it is important.

**Try clearing the temporary of Play Store and Play Services.. ** Sorry didn't read all the way

[Q] Help!! Titanium ROM Merge Killed Google Play Services on Rooted Sprint Galaxy S5

Hi, I rooted my new Sprint Galaxy S5. Everything was working fine. Then stupidly, I was tinkering with Titanium Backup and decided to batch merge all app updates into ROM.
Since then, Google play services crashes. So does S Health. I tried a full factory reset, but same problem. Play store crashes immediately and I can't log in to Google or use any Google apps that require Play Services. Then I did a factory reset. It didn't help. Now I don't even have access to Titanium backup!
Any step by step advice would be appreciated!! Thanks!

I'm kinda in the same boat... I rooted, recovery and then a ROM but soon after I started having problems with Google play services constantly crashing and unable to send text and the dialing touch tone having issues as well. I did go back on my nandroid backup and all is well except that I lost functionality on my bluetooth headset ... Now I'm thinking about factory reset and placing back original stock FW
I finally solved it by installing Kies3, doing a system software update and reinstalling all my backed up apps. Seems to be working fine for the last week. A close call...

[Q] Lost Google Play Store!

So I rooted my S5 today and everything went well. I backed up my downloaded apps (not system apps) with titanium backup. I then got the cracked version of the Google Play store. I eventually decided against it and went to uninstall it and accidentally uninstalled the Google Play store! I have tried to reinstall the apk file but it just crashes on start-up every time. Finally, I tried to factory reset and the app still did not appear. I am at a loss and I have tried every solution I have come across and nothing works. Please help

Flash a stock or custom rom to reinstall Google Play and Services/Framework.
Yep that worked! Thanks a million!

Google chrome forced update w/o permission

I am on a rooted galaxy tab 4, t330, wifi only model running android 4.4.2 stock rom. I had this a while now and just the other day chrome has been updating all on its own despite my every attempt to stop this. I have done the following.
Ensured that any option to auto update was de-selected.
Cleared data and cache of all google related app. (i.e. play store, download manager ect.)
Used titanium backup to restore back to previous version and detached from play store.
None of this has helped and I am forced to keep getting an update I don't want. Seems almost like a virus as it does this in the background without any input or warning. Also when I do catch it updating and click on it it will not let me cancel the download from play store.
Anyways. Now I'm here. Asking for help to stop this. Is there a file that can be modified or folder that can be deleted. Any input is greatly appreciated!
Flash a cyanogenmod rom without flashing Gapps. Why are you so adamant chrome not update itself??

Google Play doesn't auto update apps

hello, I use android 5.0 lollipop.
Google play doesn't auto update and doesn't show notifications for update waiting apps. When I clear "data" for Google Play Store it starts to show notifications, but when I open Google Play , it asks me about google campaigns and agreements, I accept it, and after this process problem starts again.
I am sure this is about the "data" that Google Play uses. Problem disappears when I clear data. Problem starts again after first usage. (first window)
I tried deleting cache and data for Google play services too. I did factory reset and I removed Google Account. Nothing helps.
Thank you.
Try updating the play store
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/
And clear cache/data for google services / framework
i tried, still no luck.
ive been having issues with updating apps on my s5.
i got an error code 963
it seems to be with apps ive moved to sd card.
i read something about new android OS after a certain version are not allowing apps to stored in sd card.
i unistalled playstore and reinstalled it and i aldo moved the apps to device storage and both those actions or one of them by itself allowed the apps to update
i dont know if it was just uninstalling the playstore or moving the app to device storage though. thought id share my experience
mine is the sm-g900r4

You already said "I did factory reset and I removed Google Account. Nothing helps"
What extra do you think you can achieve without re-flashing a ROM, that a factory reset couldn't fix?

sorry i am just a beginner user ,i have 2 questions
-if i do flashing rom will my phone out of warranty?
-can i see/change Google Play Store files on my phone? i have no root access
thanks.
No you won't lose warranty flashing STOCK ROMs with ODIN
You will lose warranty if you flash anything custom
Which Google store files are you talking about?
And if you had access to them, being a beginner, what would you be looking for, and what would you change, again, that a factory reset did not achieve ?
Unbelievable !
I flashed last stock rom but problem continues.
I check manually most days, and just update any that are sitting waiting
Not sure if there is like a set time period it waits before auto updating, but the notifications for available updates will likely only happen if you disable auto updates, otherwise it has no reason to tell you there are updates waiting, it will/should just update them and tell you once it's done
So try this:
1. Disable auto updates in Google Play settings
2. Wait for a few days until there are some updates available
See if you get notifications
If yes, try this:
1. Enable Auto updates in Google Play
2. Wait a full week without manually updating, see if they auto update

Can't restore purchased apps on Stock EUI...

I am on LEX727. I have restored my phone via stock 19s TWRP backup, then tried flashing OTAs (which keep failing for either corruption or installation failed with no error.), But my main issue is I am unable to download my Titanium Backup Pro app that I purchased. Google Play store wants me to buy it over again. Before, I used to be able to wipe Play Services and reload the store and it'll show up but this is no longer working.
Anyone know what I can do? Currently sitting on 5.8.19s stock rooted with Magisk.
I had this issue every time I wiped eUI. Wipe the Play Store app's cache, open the Play Store and switch to the account you purchased the app with. You should get a prompt asking you to agree to the Play Store's terms and conditions, and then you'll be able to restore your paid apps.
Or pop in a sim card if one isn't in there.
