just flash the stock 2.1 or 2.2 using odin ..
Don't panic !
You can get the most stable 2.2 firmware xxjpm as well as the flashing steps from here..
www.forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778880
You can try flashing a custom rom as well..just browse the development section..

whats the difference between jpm jpf etc....
which rom should i go for???[no bugs at all]
well XXJPM is latest firmware than XXJPF
I5801ZFJPE ##
I5801ZHJPF ##
these two are available at samfirmware, which one should i get??
and which rom is best and stable??
Download I5800XXJPM
remove boot.bin and sbl.bin (edit using winrar)
then select as one package and flash
i need a credible source about jpm...iam not sure its not even in i5801 section...
We flash 5800 firmware all the time, just be sure to check for the above mentioned boot files.
i cant wait for days,i need to do something today....so going for jpm
any precautions while flashing ??
it's not in 5801 b=coz it's a 5800 rom
both are same phone (there is no difference that i know) if u goto any phone specification websites, u'll not find any difference
5801 was first created for orange-europe similar to locked blackberry and i-phones of airtel and vodaphone
then they changed the whole production stream to I5801(changed stickers and boot screen only difference)
should sd card be inserted while flashing??
the first time it starts up after flashing it's gonna take a long time
DO NOT REMOVE DATA CABLE ON ANY CONDITION DURING FLASHING
if the boot logo (the samsung screen) stays for more than 15 min, remove battery, close&restart odin, goto download mode and flash again
be sure to remove the two files-(if they are not present then no problem)
that's not a problem but let it remain inside (custom rom using data2sd & app2sd must have sd card access during flashing)
My rom suggestion:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=986831
It also contains instructions on how to flash. You can use the instructions to flash JPM too (if you dont want a custom rom), just use the JPM onepackage file instead of the indroid.
Recommended JPM download:
http://www.filesonic.com/file/183636761/JPM.tar
or
http://www.fileserve.com/file/KJFSBBq/JPM.tar
After flashing I'd suggest enabling JIT (dunno if it works with JPM, pretty sure it does. It definitely works with indroid)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12736421&postcount=2
You could also try out the fugumod BE kernel (with overclock), however it might not be stable so its up to you:

i already downloaded jpm [115 mb] from samfirmware but not yet started the flashing process...
edit:figured it out its 243 mb after extracting
where are these files and how to remove them "boot.bin and sbl.bin"
i can only see
1,cache.rfs
2,datafs.rfs
3,factoryfs.rfs
4,modem[bin file]
5,zimage
In what format did it come in? Odin accepts .tar and .tar.md5 files
1.If its a one package (one tar) first check if it (the tar file) contains boot.bin and sbl.bin, if so REMOVE THEM. If something goes wrong while flashing them it can "brick" your phone (make it unusable and unfixable by you)
To flash click on the link i posted above and follow flashing instructions on post 4 (or post 3/5 not sure which post it is)
2.If it comes in several packages (phone csc pda bootloader) flash phone csc and pda with odin, DO NOT FLASH BOOTLOADER, same reason as above for boot and sbl.
Flashing like this is quite similar to flashing a one package (instructions- first link of previous post). The difference is you dont tick/check one package in odin and you dont choose a onepacke file, but you choose phone, csc and pda to there respective places then flash
3.It might (but shouldn't) also come as a bunch of files, factory.rfs data.rfs etc, (if there are boot.bin and sbl.bin, REMOVE THEM)if so you have to .tar them. Google for a program that can make .tar files (like 7zip).
After making the .tar file flash as it by following the instructions in the link in my previous post (its a one package flash)
EDIT: just saw your post. those two files (boot and sbl) have already been removed. If the files you do have didnt come in a .tar use method 3 in this post, if they did come in a tar use method 1

Here is the 100% working method. No chance to fail. Unless you make a mistake somewhere.
Download Stock ROM from below link. (thanks to Chainfire)
With bootloaders: http://www.multiupload.com/IZLCKQ3VJC
Extract the zip file to a folder. There after extract the .tar file to a folder.
Open Heimdall (you should know the drill how it works) place the files from extracted folder in respective fields .
At the place of modem, do not use the one from extracted folder. Use the link below for JPZ modem
http://www.multiupload.com/F9Z64KG9XO
unzip the file and extract modem.bin, copy in phone.
Now hit START.
After completion, reboot & immediately go to ODIN 3.1.7 download mode Oops! that’s how I worked (Heimdall & then odin ). Flash dbdata.tar as PDA (NO repartition) found in the below link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073854
Reboot and relax a little. As you over worked
It will boot to Ginger 2.3.3
Still you cannot flash custom ROM’s for that you got to reboot in Odin one’s again.
Kernel for clockwork recovery (custom ROM flashable) (thanks to Chainfire)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885734
download the last file from the list. i.e.
CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v3.3-CWM3RFS.zip
Put in PDA and start. It will reboot and there you are ready with your flashable Gingerbread SGT.
For OVERCOME ROM 2.0 beta (Thanks to Sir Alterbridge) download the below file
http://www.multiupload.com/QW65A4Q794
copy the zip to internal SD
go to recovery, choose zip from internal SD …. Flash!
I’m waiting for BoyPPC ROM as he might probably come out with the MIUI Rom. As Mr. Alterbridge is not into eye candy stuff his work is too serious.
Is this for all verions of the SGT? IE sprint/verizon/gsm?
Odin works for me for all flash, i.e. Main rom and dbdata

Would be better to title the topic better. If you was browsing teh list it would look like you was asking for help in flashing. It would be much better to make title more descriptive and tag it with [GUIDE] and take away the "??" from the end.
Probably best tu number or bullet point, make paragraphs to separate steps etc, would give it more structure.
btw, you do know that the overcome rom that is linked to in this guide comes with a very complete and precise guide to follow itself anyway?

there was much more then just backup like rooting and stuff. i believe people who jump to ginger all ready went through all that process. i think Appbackup is working like charm plus you can save the apk's and flash to any device. or may be titanium is better not much into it though.
Ganjdroid, i was going through your Miui post. it's not that simple to get them working you know? i wish if some one can incorporate those files in a ROM and make it as a ready made dish Ginger without MIUI is like nothing but Froyo.
Sorry but there just isnt any need for this guide really. The overcome one isnt complicated at all and you can just skip past backup up upps section if you need to.
Plus you have no need to use heimdall and then Odin, you can just use Odin.
You also say to use a specific modem file but dont explain what version of tab that file is for, somebody may be using this "guide" that doesnt want/need that file.
If you want to successfully and accurately flash to GB stock or Overcom custom you should follow the proper guide in the Overcome thread.

this is simple and for all those who think their tab/phone do not connect to Odin.
plug in your usb to the pc. go to device manager. uninstall the samsung driver which is already there. refresh the drivers or unplug and replug the usb cable. will search for the driver and install it again. there u r connected to the ODIN.
have a nice day!

I tried to flash them directly but got an error, that's why I'm trying to decompress it. I just downloaded it many times always getting the same results.
I'll try to use a 2.3.5 release and then update it with Kies. I didn't tried using another country's rom afraid of modem file incompatibility issues, I'll do some more tests

Well first of all sorry for being late, seems you haven't resolved your problem or have you? If not, then I wanna suggest you something here. I've also faced a situation like .tar file corruption in my past and resolved it successfully, believe me. How did you try to repair the .tar file? Did you use any third-party application like a repair or recovery software? I also used a third-party recovery application named as SysInfoTools Archive Recovery, to repair my corrupt .tar files. I had two very important .tar files which were corrupted, don't know why. Then I came to know about this application and used it. Though it didn't execute a hundred percent recovery, but I was quite satisfied to recover my maximum data from those corrupt .tar files. I will recommend you check its free demo version first. If it shows your preview of your recovered data, this means the data has been successfully recovered from the corrupt file. You can download the demo of this software from sysinfotools' website.
If this application helps you, please let me know.
Regards.

You've unzipped 1 too many times.
You need the .Tar file.
Flash this in PDA section of Odin and you're good to go!
I would recommend formatting cache, data, system and preload in CWM first.

Good idea is to KEEP a copy of the stock rom for these little incidents... It is easier, and sometimes the only way, to flash the stock rom after a bad flash...
If you have the I9505 I would suggest buying Mobile ODIN... It makes flashing ALL roms so much easier... You do need to root the phone 1st though with PC ODIN. After that you can flash the tar files through it or the custom rom zip files... Mods can be flashed easily too.
since no one has suggested a nandroid backup, i am going ahead and doing that.
i have found it to be the most helpful when things go wrong
Lot of confusion please help i want to go back to stock for my gear VR
According to
this thread where i posted photos of my phones INFO
I downloaded N910F( UK BTU) 6.0.1 firmware (.ZIP) file
When i tried to flash using TWRP it says ZIP file is corrupted.
I downloaded it from two website
sammobile
and
samsung.org
both are corrupted(it should not be i think)
When i look into it it has only one file .tar.md5
i tried to extarct it using winrar and it says file is corrpted
\BTU-N910FXXS1DQFA-20170726090446.zip: The archive is corrupt
Although it extracted the N910FXXS1DQFA_N910FBTU1DPL1_N910FXXS1DQA1_HOME.tar.md5
In both files i got the same result same
i dont know what to do now
I tried Odin and it stuck at "there is no pit file partition" or something like that
(yes i wiped out cache and system delvik etc.)
I also tried inserting PIT file but no luck
i would prefer without Odin if possible
As I can go into TWRP recovery
Please guide me or at least answer a few question
1. Is it even possible to flash stock rom using twrp like i flash other roms?
2. Can i install extracted .md5 file from that zip? will it be the same like stock zip?
3. Why my Both zip files are corrpted? your opinion?
4. Should i download again same stock rom?

Lot of confusion please help i want to go back to stock for my gear VR
Based on the amount and type of questions, I believe you need to read up on basic Note 4 flashing/customization knowledge first. Go and read up on the stickies.
Without knowledge and experience, we can tell you how to do a brain surgery, but doesn't make you a surgeon.
No, twrp cannot be used to flash stock rom. Stock rom are most of the time md5 files, used by ODIN only.
Since you downloaded the zip files, use the "Test" function to see if it is corrupted?
Maybe you should just flash a stock based custom rom with VR and be done with it.

Check your Winzip version. It may be old and doesnt handle large zipfiles too well. I had the same problem but I know the file was good as I downloaded it at work, and Winzip worked just fine; but when I got home, winzip failed on my pc - old 8.1 version. I used the trial version just fine to unzip.

Did you keep the ROM as a Zip file when you loaded it in to Odin?
Do not unzip the ROM file.
Try again.
