Yea I'm one of the ones who tried to install twrp on my sgh-I337, 4.2.2. I tried to install the new kitkat but when it finished downloading the update and it restarted to install, it just gets stuck on that downloading mode (do not turn off target). I'm trying to get rid of this and reset the phone to factory and keep it fresh and unrooted.
Am I able to use Odin and the at&t factory image with no problem? I seen this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621279 but just want to make sure this will be a solution to the problem without bricking the phone or further problems.
I thought I read somewhere if I tried using Odin for this it would brick but just want to be 100% sure. Thanks in advance
Yes, that should solve your problem

I just got a GT-i9500 GS4 and I wanted to install miui on it but didn't noticed the release was for i9505, after the installation finished my phone didn't boot up and I think it's bricked. I tried a few unbricking methods like factory reset and cache wipe but nothing helped.
Any1 can help me please, also is it possible to get it to the store and get it fixed because I did a factory reset on it so it's not rooted ?

Thx for the reply but It didn't help.
After trying a few more things I installed CWD instead of Philz touch recovery and it had a restore point so that fixed the problem for me
So I have been trying to get multiple roms to work and it seems as only the TouchWiz roms worked for me (getting LTE) Jellybean wouldn't let me connect to any LTE but gave me data.
So I tried to do a few wipes, I deleted my backups (like an idiot) and now I'm stuck with just being able to get into TWRP.
I get into TWRP factory reset and wipe everything then do a internal wipe and install a rom the rom installs but when i go to reboot the rom it gets stuck at the Samsung Galaxy s4 screen and won't move.
What do I do?
I just want to have a jellybean rom...
I can get into TWRP
How long have you let it boot? The first boot can take a long time.

You need to read about TWRP before using it. You should not be wiping "everything" with it.

yeah i can i never used odin before.
if i do this will i be able to re-root? or will it update me to mf3?
EDIT: i just let it sit there and got my old recovery back. im on tw 4.2.2 goldeneye. let me check if i can reboot it without it getting stuck.
EDIT2: ok i just let it reboot and it now reboots fine..
I have read 3 of your posts, you really need to start reading before you go any further...if your phone boots on 4.2.2 GoldenEye, stop there until you find more information on what you are trying to do. If you don't you will for sure be using Odin soon, may want to read up on that also...
Good luck.
BTW, you do not need to make a different thread for every question, go back to one of the threads you started, and ask ALL of your questions there...
Hi guys,
Recently I updated my i9505 to official 4.3 version XXUEMJ7...then i rooted it successfully, flashed philz cwm, it worked...i did a backup, then flashed a mod (lightning effect on lockscreen), turned on the phone. Suddenly my wifi won't work so I decided to do a restore from the backup that i made 10 minutes before that. While it was restoring i noticed that i didnt had enough storage so it skipped few things. When it was successfully restored, I turned my phone on and here are the problems:
When it has booted up i recieved so many errors and fc's like procedure system has stopped, com.google.process.gapps error and so on...
I taught ok, lets delete some HD games to gain space and restore it again. But now there was no cwm or any recovery. I can't use Google Play and every app that uses Google files (youtube, gmail, stock internet browser and even facebook)
I'm not sure if I lost root and/or cwm. My question is how to get it back? What do i need to flash over Odin? Download mode works.

Hello.
I have same problem. Nothing works. I think it's a protected bootloader that will rewrite every custom rom/recovery. I had rom for ~20 days, and was just doing my daily routine, rebooted and lost root and CWM. After this same symptoms occured.
I downloaded XXUEMJ7 prerooted now, and it was only rom that I could flash. Have no custom recovery by now and root works... But probably not for long. What's most important - wifi works. This is partial solution for using your phone while someone smarter will explain us what's going on.

Thank you. I'll try that.
EDIT: can you give me a link, and you flashed it via Odin?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
In this thread, use "ctrl+f" and write "PDA: XXUEMJ7" There will be prerooted odin flashable link.
By the way, flashing this new knox bootloader with 4.3 was worst thing that I done do my phone. And I'm really pissed off on samsung. Hope some smart devs will solve this someday and we will be able to downgrade or bypass this.
Well, I still get those errors all the time... :crying:
I taught this would remove them, but unfotunately didn't..

So here we go again...
I tried using Odin to get back to stock but, Odin just kept crashing
every time I tried loading the 'MD5' file. I tried multiple versions as well..
Then I realized even though the computer would say Odin was
'Not Responding' I continued to wait, and finally it loaded the MD5!
So I went ahead and tried going back to stock, but when I did
every stock MD5 file causes my device to close
Google Play, Google Location, and SystemUI rapidly...
I was able to get my original Recovery in there and restore a backup,
but I'd really like to try and go back to stock for a bit and start fresh.
What the heck in the world is going on with my phone?!
I thought Odin was my safety net, here to help me, but
instead I'm getting more and more hassle trying to get it workin'...
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!!
Just tried flashing MK6 using Odin
(MK6 came on my phone originally)
and I get the same issue..
Everything I try ends up failing..
Egads!

What firmware are you on? What version of Odin are you using? Perhaps try using a different version. Also use original usb cable not universal one. Seems to make a difference.

So the flash was successful but when booting up u get FC's correct? If that is the case then I would guess it's because u didn't wipe data/factory reset preflash. Doing this from recovery should solve ur problem if I understood u right

So Odin doesn't wipe / factory reset
on its own?
The first time I forgot to wipe but
every other time Im sure I wiped in
recovery before hitting up download
mode.
I did make a ROM using NC1
firmware and added KT kernel to
it. The ROM was a dud and that's
why I wanted a fresh start.

The way I understand it there are 2 types of Odin flashable fws: full wipe and no full wipe. Full wipe fws are the ones that come in separate parts, i.e. BL, AP, CP etc. and no full wipe fws are the complete tar.md5 files. I recently went back to stock to get a fresh start as well and had the same issue with FC's on boot up. Factory reset fixed it

So I was using an .md5 file, therefore Odin
wasn't able to fully wipe my S4?
I could have sworn I tried wiping..
Will give it another go though! :highfive:

They're all .md5's. One comes in 4 parts and the other all bundled in one. The latter, as has been my experience, does not wipe data

Well it sure didn't work last time I tried..
I can get the phone to boot but Wifi remains
locked in the off position and my baseband
remains at MK6 when I was trying to flash
the 4.4.2 NC1 build..
Could this be due to the KT kernel I
flashed before trying to restore?
I flashed the Kernel before all this
happened, then realized the kernel
dropped my wifi, so that's why I tried
restoring to stock, but the wifi still
drops on me after odin'ing back to
stock…

Ya that's what I used too. I just formatted all the individual partitions first using philz to be sure I got a clean start. Also, if u wanna try it, the leaked NC1 firmware that dropped right before the official OTA's came out, I think that was a 'full restore' fw as it came in 4 sections.

There is a boot.img inside the stock fw if I'm not mistaken, and that should overwrite anything you've done to /boot (where the kernel lives).
So if I understand this correctly I have a couple of options one of them being I do the full firmware update using the 4 files provided from the leak. Or somehow install the boot.img and that should fix the wifi drop issues?
My 4.3 GS4 is soft bricked and bootlooped. I believe it is still rooted, though.
I have tried everything possible, but can't seem to fix it at all! For the past week I've only been seeing errors.
All I want is a normal phone again, I don't care if any data is wiped, or the root is gone, or if the apps are gone, I just want the phone back.
Please help!
Have you tried to return it to stock with odin? Also, do you know what firmware version you're on?

Since you're on 4.3, then you are most likely on MK2.
Try use odin to flash back to stock.
