My 4.3 GS4 is soft bricked and bootlooped. I believe it is still rooted, though.
I have tried everything possible, but can't seem to fix it at all! For the past week I've only been seeing errors.
All I want is a normal phone again, I don't care if any data is wiped, or the root is gone, or if the apps are gone, I just want the phone back.
Please help!
Have you tried to return it to stock with odin? Also, do you know what firmware version you're on?

Since you're on 4.3, then you are most likely on MK2.
Try use odin to flash back to stock.

So first off im gonna start off and say that I dont really care about being rooted in the first place. I thought id be flashing a lot more stuff but It turns out that I never flashed anything. So on my phone as of now I just have root and I have twrp installed onto it. I did that process to take off the custom recovery status from using motochopper as well. Now my problem is that every time i try to take the ota I get booted right into twrp and then i am unable to take the update. I even downloaded the zip file and tried flashing it and I just get a failed message. Can anyone tell me whats going on? Or point me into the right direction so i can uninstall twrp so I can take the update?
Odin back to stock, then do a factory reset in settings.

Well actually I have one more question. Arent I already stock? I havent even flashed another rom. I literally just got root status and put twrp recovery on it. Do I still need to use odin?

You say you are rooted, then do a factory reset, and un-root, then you will be able to get the update.

Like axman said, flashing with Odin to stock nothing gets deleted. If you do a factory wipe, everything gets deleted.
You could also try to update with kies instead of ota. Maybe that will work.
The problem is not that you removed root you still are using a custom recovery you need to get back to full stock use odin to get the phone back to full stockso you'll have a stock recovery

Download your stock rom, and use ODIN, that will return you to 100% stock, remeber to backup anything that is important to you.

Figures, I say if your phone needs to be replaced, better do it soon, some of the older ones are still out there, but soon, it will be strictly mf3 replacements after that...

if you've done a full wipe and tried either re-flashing your rom or restoring a nandroid and neither was successful, you may need to consider going back to stock via odin and starting over.
i've never seen a phone run on the same rom and kernel settings for months and then just shut down and softbrick without something having been changed recently.

What recovery image are you running? You are not the only one that had this problem. I am trying to piece this together.
So, I haven't been able to find anything through searching and I've reached a dead end.
I rooted and unlocked my phone and I wanted to get a custom ROM on it. So, I downloaded a rom and went to install it on safestrap, I tried a ROM partition but it said I only had 12 MB free space and couldn't make a slot, so I figured, What the heck? I don't like the stock rom anyway why not go ahead and put the rom on that partition? So I wiped the stock rom and went to install the custom rom on it and it didn't go through. I thought about it for a second and figured, maybe if I do I full wipe, not just a factory reset, so I wiped everything and went to install the custom rom and it still didn't work. Now I can't find a Rom to put on it that works, the stock rom is totally gone and it won't boot.
I have the ATT I337 Galaxy S4, originally it had an mk2 on it but I installed MF3 instead to get it unlocked. I honestly don't have much more information for it but I'll try to get it to you if you ask for it.
At this point I'm willing to go back to the stock rom and never mess with my phone again, I just need it up and running. I can't go back to the carrier to get it fixed because I bought it off craigslist and don't have a phone number. I tried downloading the stock ROMS but can't seem to get them installed with ODIN. Is there another program I may be able to use to do that? At this point, like I said, I just want to get it back to working condition.

Hey im wanting to go back to stock unrooted to get the ota that just dropped here in NZ. Its not on sammobile or anywhere and i hate waiting.
Now my question is this:
If i make a data backup in twrp can i put that back on after i reroot etc?
Also is this the correct procedure to go back to stock (never done it before... never had too)
Flash AP of my stock rom in odin? Nothing else?
That will kill my twrp wont it as it will flash back the stock recovery?
Phone will be able to OTA even though i was previously rooted?
Will i need to wipe my data etc to go back to stock completly if so how?
Think thats all i need to know...
Thanks in advance

Phone will be able to OTA even though i was previously rooted? Based on prior experience with S5, yes.
Will i need to wipe my data etc to go back to stock completly if so how? Nope! I didn't wipe anything and am firmly back to stock.

I stumbled on your thread because I had these same questions. I skipped the S6 series & forgot what I'd learned from my S5. I figured, what the hell, lets see what happens.
For anyone else with the same questions, my answers are in red above.
It did wipe it cos i had twrp so it couldnt read my phone on stock. Bit of a pain but oh well thank goodness for smart switch. Now my phone still wont see the OTA. So did this for nothing lol. Rang samsung to see why they are calling me back. It didnt find the OTA before rooting either it always says im on the latest firmware... which im not
