EFS folder.

OK. i know this has been done to death but i still have some questions regarding the illustrious efs folder. And before the flaming starts. yes i have searched and couldn't find my answers. My main question is what causes users to lose their efs folder? Is there a chance this could happen everytime we flash a ROM/Kernel? Also i have made a backup of mine using insanity app, but is there a way of checking the validity of the backup as ive read a few posts saying they couldn't restore when the need arose? Also (real thick quesion) to check the imei i just need to tpye *#06# and see if it matches the one on the back of my phone?

if there is a problem with EFS or IMEI dialing *#06# wont show u the number. and your phone details will state it as corrupted mate...follow the backup instructions in original android thread and you are save!
Im trying to enter the commands using terminal emulator. But it just giving a list of options instead of backing up. Any ideas?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Usual reason for lost EFS seems to be flashing a firmware seems to just happen .

Missing cp file from my phone when pressing *#1234#.

There three files should come up when pressing *#1234# in my phone however, it is showing only two files. CP file is missing from there. The service person is saying that i have to replace motherboard however, i think that because file is missing so it should be updated through software. Please let me know if there is a way to do that.
Flash stock rom through Odin will give you all files .

When the issue happens on a Zuk Z1 device, then it gets posted here.
When it happens on a Moto G device, it gets posted in the Moto G forum.
Forums are separated by device for a reason, as outlined in Forum Rules:
15. Keep threads / posts on-topic
Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is that your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.
Zuk Z1 comments in Zuk Z1 thread = on-topic
Moto G comments in Zuk Z1 thread = NOT on-topic
For issues affecting all Android devices, or multiple different Android devices, you can also post in Android General, in addition to the specific affected device forum.
