it looks good with the built in keyboard and the LED panel so what do you guys think ? it has exactly what's missing from our xooms, the good screen and the physical keyboard, it really looks interesting that i wish i hold on buying the xoom a month ago and got this instead ? i know that the 32 gb version is $140 more expensive than my 32 gb xoom i got for $439.
another unboxing link
http://campuslife.asus.com/index/4323/unboxing-the-10-inch-eee-pad-slider-sl101-tablet/
why not buy some netbook.you will get more storage andphysical keyboard.
and windows 7.
but there wont be touch screen or android ? i have a laptop and a desktop already with windows i dont need any more windows devices
yep netbooks don't have touch screens, which means you can't use them as a sketch pad etc... plus the look like notebooks which is .... way more nerdy, like at starbucks, I feel a whole lot more comfortable with the slider, being a tablet with a twist, I feel like I will be seen more as a photographer/not-serious gamer than with a netbook cracked open, hacking away at the infrastructure.
The slider is slick! Really cool design.
Just bought one from NewEgg for $479.
The Slider features a built-in keyboard that slides out when you need it - making note-taking or writing an essay as easy as surfing the web. With a typing experience that's far more intuitive than an on-screen touch keyboard the versatile Slider switches between tablet mode and a full-fledged notebook with ease. Take notes in class, surf the web, create presentations on the fly, do it all with the Eee Pad Slider. With a 1GHz processor, NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile super chip, 1GB of ram, Android Honeycomb OS, and the kind of connectivity you expect in a PC, the Eee Pad Slider is revolutionizing what it is to be a tablet.
Ummm, this is a Xoom forum...take your slider and have fun at the slider forum, 'k?
Or... a Xoom-owner's perspective of the new Asus Slider (?)
I almost purchased the Slider. Why not?
- way more expensive
- Newegg had a killer sale on Xoom
- (though Asus is working to correct) a general quality issue with Asus (though this can be a good thing for those of us snapping up refurb' deals).

You get where I'm coming from though, right? I don't go on other fora bragging 'bout my Xoom, though I've been tempted.
No worries.
Note: Though the QA discussion posted on (the other forum) is damn good reading - glad I bought a Xoom.
Hi,
I'm thinking about buying a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet, because of the stylus panel.
But just saw this Benchmark and now I don't know if it's real?!
Is it possible to have that bad benchmarks with a tegra 3 cpu?
The HTC Flyer is the only option, but it's only 7". Maybe a Asus Transformer Prime without stylus would be the better choice or even the Transformer?!
The Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25I4hXp8CEg
Do you know other benchmark tests? What do you think?
Thanks in advance!
prereleased , buggy and unoptimised software is my guess

It is only Tegra 2. You should check out these two forums.

I think the reason to get this tablet is not the benchmarks but the ability to use a stylus. If you want better performance I would wait for them to update it.

Of course it's tegra 2, everyday is a new tegra 3 device in the in the news, just mixed it.
Thanks for the links these forums look good. Still don't understand why xda has no thinkpad forum. So there will be no ROMs or other developing here?
That would be a big point against lenovo for me! Who knows what you could do with a digitizer...
I've read a lot reviews and stuff, now. If you are interested in a good tablet like the transformer prime, but with digitizer I would suggest to wait for the next HTC releases with Scribe, ICS, unibody and 10"+ If you can't wait - GET IT!
Moved to questions
Actually, over at Laptop mag they did an extensive benchmark of the Thinkpad against a few others and to me it seem to be quite fine.
I've been on the fence between the Thinkpad, The Toshiba Thrive and the original Transformer and so far I am still leaning towards the Thinkpad.
Now if one is to compare it benchmark wise to the Transformer Prime, then there is no contest.
edit: Thanks admins/mods for creating the Thinkpad forum.

To me raw benchmarks mean absolutely nothing. It's all about real life performance. And for my needs the Tablet works just fine.
I agree, and your recent real life review shows that very well.

it's all about business
You must understand, the ThinkpadTablet is a business model. I here people arguing all the time why to buy this instead of a SGTAB. It does not even come with youtube preinstalled ( mine didn't ) so if your looking for video playing and Angry Birds you're wasting your money. I'm not saying it's not capable, it's fully capable but you're wasting it's potential. I tried most of the tablets and none raise to this. I even own an iPad 2... but it's all about multimedia and 1000 gb of games on that. I find the Thinkpad business apps and secure connections to be the best. It can connect to VPN encryption like not other. The pen is also superb. Great battery and connectivity. Robust with a great Keyboard-Folio Case. The OS is stable but i would have liked a Custom ROM. Still if they update to ICS it will be perfect.
Really a hidden jewel among the others, but only if you use it for the above purposes. Otherwise buy a SgTab and than buy a pen and you'll like it more.
+1. It's a workhorse, and a superb one.

Hey,
Recently i've bought a Thinkpad Tablet. And i'm using GTB 10.1 p7500.
Maybe in not distant future, i'll make a comparison of those two. But for now, my GTB is going to be sold. Lenovo is much better. Not in every wy, but the way i'm using it...
Don't buy
I am generally disappointed with this tablet. While I was writing this reply I had to reboot. FC all the time, it lags way too much (Flash, launcher, writing this comment and scrolling up and down a web page)
But it boot up very fast!
Hello again.
After month of using TPT, here is some summary:
for:
- wide range of inputs (hdmi, usb, sdcard)
- stylus
- external keyboard with pin pointer
- very natural colors
- stability
- most of the unneeded apps can be uninstalled
- outstanding rubber-like cover
- very good for watching movies on my big screen, via hdmi
against:
- battery (i have to charge it every day - GTB once every two or three days)
- lack of rooting procedure
- BT 2.1 (GTB BT 3.0), very sluggish
- nobody knows how to root this thing
- sensitivity of the screen (GTB is far more sensitive)
- did i mention rooting problems ?
For now i can say, tha this is very good tablet. But if you want to use it as it is. If you like to personalize everything, if you need root or something like that, wait or buy something else...
For me ideal would be tab like GTB but with docking bay/docking station with all the features that TPT have.
I took that Keyboard Folio docking section apart and truth be told, Lenovo could have changed the setup to allow an additional USB port in that area.

you dont take your work truck to an engine dyno or a drag race - you get it to work... are you really going to look at benchmark?
you get this tablet for the computrace, one of the best warranty in the service, some free app bundle, a pen (and a place to put it), ips display, hdmi out, full size USB that works with a number of devices, and a tablet that doesnt look like a toy or a device meant for female audiences
Aw, hell. I guess that means it'll never come in pink. Is it too butch? Would I look to dorky changing out my hair doodads in its reflection (when it's off, of course. Or should I buy one of the Mirror apps when I go pickup my blinker fluid?)
Seriously. If I get one of these, should I only take it out when I have my Chuck Taylors or Birkenstocks on?
Does anyone have one?
I can't see any new info on it on the net. I have preordered one, but this really seems fishy. I won't be getting one until mid November though so if there's something wrong at least I'll have plenty of time to cancel my order.
I noticed it's actively cooled, anyone know how loud those fans are?
I'm surprised with the total lack of reviews or information about this tablet. To me it looks like one of the best Windows 8 tablets currently available, specially for the price.
Yeah. I wondered why too
The prices is great!. They are selling it at what other OEM charging for the atom processors.
Even the battery life is good, about double of the surface pro. Heck. They didn't even try to cheat you on purchasing overpriced keyboard dock.

This device doesn't have a keyboard dock, only an optional cradle. It extends battery life and works great while working at a desk/table, but not so well while sitting up in bed, on a sofa, or anywhere else a laptop comes in handy. Maybe not an issue for some, but that's unfortunately a deal-breaker for me. The whole point in considering a hybrid to begin with. Not sure why they don't have one like the W510. Great device otherwise.

I"m using the Toshiba U920t, which converts from a tablet to a laptop. It is a bit thicker, and the battery is only good for about 5 hours, but it works well, and is only a couple hundred more than the W700 with 128 GB SSD.
http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c...model=U920t&lid=CFAMsatellite_SeriesLinkU920t
I have been using a w700 for a month
I love this tablet. I have the i3 with the Intel HD4000 graphic card. I have many tablets, but here's a quick rundown:
Pros
1) runs full win8 which is pretty seemless with touch
2) Beautiful full HD screen
3) Fast SSD, boots in 7 seconds
4) Dock, keyboard and case included in 700 price
5) I run Photoshop with huge images from my Sony a65 24.3 mp camera. It runs almost as fast on i3/4gb as my Sandybridge i7 with 16gb of RAM. I use full MS Office Pro Plus, have a bunch of Metro apps and use Bluestacks for stuff like Google Books (which works great)
6) Bat life is 8-9 hours!
7) The Win store is criticized for lack of content, but some of the games are unreal. Toy Soldiers, Reckless Racing 2, Etc. they blow away the best games for my Asus Infinity/Ipad 3.
8) It's full windows with a beautiful screen and small form factor, what can I say?
Cons
1) SSD is small, 64gb in my case, going to replace it with a 256gb msata
2) No SD slot
3) One usb on device (3 on dock)
4) a little heavy for kindle/ereader usage
After getting this thing, I am going to sell my 2 Asus Transformers and my Ipad and just keep my Nexus 7 for reading.
This thing is amazing, close to full pc/tablet convergence.
I have an Acer W700 tablet as well but with tge i5 processor and the 128GB SSD.
Pros
- The price. The best tablet under 1000€ and it even beats a few of the tablets above 1000€ as well.
- The hardware is fantastic. No lagg or anything! ( this is NOT a gaming tablet but it plays smaller games without problems)
- The touch works great the only problems I've encountered arecaused by the softwares.
- The battery life is amazing beats my vaio every time.
Cons
- No SD card slot ( Being compensated by a 500GB 2.5" external USB 3.0 HDD)
- No 3G modem ( a pro for me since I don't gave to pay for a subscription)
This tablet is one of the best tablets on the market for the price.
I wrote a rather extended review on this Tab on my blog. I will be writing more on both Windows 8 and W700 in the new future.
Link to the review: Can't post a external link here, just go to my blog and click on "Devices" on the right side, should be the one on the top.
I saw pics online of a keyboard case for this tablet similar to the surface style. Should be coming soon.. too bad i couldn't wait..

Yeah I feel the same.. The cover is made by Acer so I think that they will release it for us who have already bought the tablet. Otherwise, ebay for a first / third party afterwards that it has been released. Swedish E-tailers do already have the tablet in their stores but are still waiting for delivery from acer.
-- edit --
The delivery is estimated to the 14th of february
I really love this tablet! I have the I3 version (Ivy bridge) and it is extremely fast. Wonderful screen (comparable to the retina from Apple). Im very impressed so far!

Net-On-Net has i3 Sandy version in stock, I ordered my on 2012-01-02, had it in my hands on 2012-01-04.
Has anyone seen any update regarding the keyboard case? I've searched everywhere and could not find any information regarding it's release in USA.

For those who have intention to buy, it would be wise to check the link before you make final decision so that you won't have
buying regret.
I got mine on January 14th from Futureshop in canada with the keyboard case...the case is very nice.
Only one issue...some times (mostly starts in google chrome but keeps on after closing it and resolves by screen off and on) my touch screen goes crazy and clicks by it self, I have not tried calibrating or other solutions yet and I am thinking of returning, but getting new one will be more trouble...any idea guys?
It seems like that the so far keyboard case is only available in Canada

Yes, almost all W700's have WIFI issue as delivered, but easilly fixable with a driver update. Mine suffered from constantly disconnecting/re-connecting, installed new driver from Acer site, works perfect now. (Make sure to follow instructions about removing old driver, restarting, installing new driver)

I got mine from Amazon.ca, has the keyboard case, but the identical item on Amazon.com also came with the keyboard case. Was $50.00 cheaper on Amazon.ca, & only had to pay gst, versus ND state tax, plus GST and PST if would have ordered on Amazon.com. (Info for any other Canadians who live close enough to be able to shop both sides of the border.)
Which one should I buy?
Aside from w6's 1080p display is there any difference ?
I talk about performance mostly and which is more stable and which will last longer!
Any help is appreciated
A1 is at 170 Euro
and
PiPo W6 is at 216 Euro
Note: Dont sent me links of other tablets from the internet, cause i dont trust the warranty much there and i prefer to just go back to the shop that i bought it and give it there.

I was looking for someone who might have this one!
Have you tried playing any games on it?Mostly simple ones like LoL,HL2,Dota 2 etc. How are the framerates?
Also how long does the battery last on full use?
Just received my W6 last Friday. I don't play any games so I can't comment on performance on that front. Mine came with a QA issue. The adhesive that was holding onto the front glass was not doing its job properly in one corner so the glass was popping up. Not sure if this was due to the cold weather during shipping but instead of sending it off for replacement, cause that would take forever, I bought some 3m double sided tape, and did the simple repair myself. Other than that, maybe isolated, issue. I have no other problems. Battery life is decent but not excellent.
Looking forward to installing WIN10 consumer preview when it comes out next week.
In terms of performance for games at the same resolution, they should be identical. They are, after all, using the same innards. Stability is probably the same. I think your deciding factor would be if you want the higher resolution display on the W6 or not.
edit: just found another guy on the pipo forums who had a similar issue with the front glass becoming unglued.
http://www.pipo.cn/bbs/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=13321&highlight=w6 its in chinese, use google translate
I've been usin Pipo w6 for around 3 months now. It IS a beautiful tablet with the metal band around it. Its screen resolution is also very attractive. If anything, the battery is a bit disappointing "windows + high res screen". Also, the GPS did work well for me. Did anyone face this problem?
Other than that, I will be more than willing to recommend it for anyone who's looking to buy a windows tablet.
I will try to install ubuntu on it in the upcoming days.
Hello everyone ,
I have to give a tablet to my wife, (there is some nervousness in the house , and I thought to calm tempers) must not surpass 200 €.
Between 8 and 10 inches and possibly with good support of the online community (then with root available etc ...)
I noticed:
Lenovo Yoga 2 8 "(only wifi) 59426324 of which I really liked the design, the fact that he had 2GB of RAM, FullHD, reclining positions.
From the site but do not know if it has GPS and Bluethoot, if it supports micro sdxc, and if the graphics card can handle game fast type Rail Rush (my wife with the Sony Xperia E4G suffered slowdowns and there can play ).
Last thing I do not understand why costs less than buying it from the same Lenovo site.
And LG G Pad 10.1 (V700) that is LG brand with which I have always enjoyed it, few frills of installed programs, 10-inch, battery good. But I found on the internet only the root.
I thank whoever answers :fingers-crossed:
there is no one who knows me advise? sigh :crying:
