yes team Venom we need you here badly a fully themed Rom for Desire 816 to start with
i feel this phone is a threat for the Butterfly S which is having a lame 4UP camera and if you talk about 1080 and 720 the difference is un noticeable.

I guess we'll see what happens but I think most of team venom is going to get the m8 or stick with m7
I do think there is a threat, especially if I'm thinking to get this phone ahead of the flagships. Might be too big though.. Haha
816 (l33t speak for BIG?)
Yup it's big, bigger than I'd want to use. Sticking with the M7 until the M8 is available.

First of all, i´m very interesting in this phone, but there is something that confuses me...
With the android 4.4, google doesn't allow apps to being installed in the sd card, right? So do you guys think that 8gb is enough? Or is other way around?
It doesn't? That's a no brainer!

8 gb is more than enough. Most apps are between 30 - 200 MB even with ART on. Only games go up to 1.5 GB and most if not all major games store most of this data on the SD card even when the actual app is in phone memory. Plus the SGS3 has about 8GB available to its users on phone while this should have 4 -5 GB. Most of my friends who have those don't use most of the available space.

Hi
I just had an issue of the internal memory is getting full even if I already had the applications and games installed in the memory card
But I wonder if there are any way or tips to optimize the RAM and get as much space as possible ?

Not much besides returning it and complaining the the 500.00+ phone you paid for came with 3.00 worth of storage. Im being generous saying the internal memory is 3.00 its more like 2.00

But there should be away to optimize the RAM coz its totally an clear for the internal memory to get full fast even if I just had only few apps installed. My Iphone have more apps and games installed and I never had an issue with memory

Yes there are many ways. Easiest and fastest download the app: "app to sd" from market and u can move most apps to sd card.
Try that and let me know

Flame the noob, shame on you You don't know jack until someone points you in the right direction. Sure he should have searched a little, but still.
Dude, you got good advice on the apps2sd. The real memory improvements are after you pluck up the courage to root your device, but it's pretty easy. Follow the other posts on same. Then you can check out Titanium Backup from the market, or there is another command you can run if you install the Android Development Kit but it's more techy. Stick to Titanium, it moves most of the game to SD, leaving <1Mb for each. I have loads of games installed & have 150Mb free.
Let us know how you get on...
Thank you guys. I just tried it and it freed around 120MB

If you learn how to use adb, you can try the command " pm setInstallLocation 2 ", this will force more apps to install to the SD Card and free up even more space
What i can delete on my internal storage? Where are the rings, Demopictures...? I us apps2sd and i have only ~100 MB free. What is adb and how i us it?

I'm not flaming or anything I just want to enlighten the OP.
Ram is not what you are referring to. What you are referring to is the internal storage.
Internal storage = Computer hard drive
Ram is where processes are being run atm. every time you turn off the phone the ram is cleared.
Now like many have said you can use adb and setinstalllocation2. What this will do is install all the applications on your memory card.

First of all check all the apps are on stock apps2sd. Go to settings/applications/manage applications then on the top click SD Card. It will then bring up a list of all the apps that are stock apps2sd conpatable and if theres a tick it means there already on. If no tick click the app then click "Move to SD". Instant more space.
Second uninstall the apps you use least.
Third clear your browser cache. Go to settings/applications/manage applications then scroll till you see Browser click then "Clear Cache"
Forth and finally I would root the phone and uninstall some stock stuff you won't use.
Done.

any suggestions?
Do you use a live wallpaper? They sometimes couse bad performence.
idonthave,im rooted and delete bloatware so i dont have live wp
If you have Root you can download Script manager + zeppelinrox Supercharger Version 9 update 3.It has the option called "NitroLag-Flush"
Overcooking to 1.3ghz will also help performance

Isn't the card you get packaged with the phone only a class 2? Though it may depend on the vendor...
But before I dont lag, so mybe its not with the sd .

I experienced a lot of lag from gameloft games, like backstab, eternal legacy, and on some mission in rainbow 6 too..
is it time for me already to overclock my phone
I've been noticing lag happening on my phone as well and it is not rooted or unlocked and only a couple months old. When i first got it I would get an occasional slowdown, but nowadays I notice it more and more (only on gameloft games but thats just because they are all I am playing right now). PSX games run perfect. I'm running a 16GB Class 2 card I procured from my old Motorola Droid with about 9gb free, as well as 150 mb free space on the phone. I am thinking it could be the card, so I have a Sandisk 32GB Class 4 on order. I feel like its possible a Class 2 card is not enough for this thing. Either that or I have some other underlying issue, I will say the device is less snappy than when it was new (and no I don't use task killers).
That seems odd... maybe you downloaded an app that had a virus on it or something? Or maybe you just downloaded an app that went wrong...
So guys after a lot of days testing and after i have installed some Apps and using heavy multitasking i must say this GS III has limits on heavy usage.
The reason is the limit of RAM.. yes 1 GB still is not good as we could think..if you are going to install big apps and big games.
I have found this using the web browser with some flashplayer videos without using full screen just the window.. after few minutes the video has stopped playing just listen to the audio..and the gsIII start becoming hot ..sometimes it even crashed and came back to homescreen realoading widget and so on...and i'm not using TouchWiz Natur UX (heavy launcher on usage of RAM) but the lighter and faster Nova Launcher.. i will post some screens and info to warn of this problem i found on GS III
Those are apps installed

Same experience here. Flash vids freezing, black screen, briwsing quiting to home screen, music player quiting in background, longerwebpages not loading fully and the dreaded homescreen restarts. The experience comes up short compared to last years sgs2 and note on gingerbread.
It sounds more like Flash player is the problem or possibly the browser. Try another browser.
Well that doesn't sound promising. Seems like the phone works wonderful at first, but degrades quickly

You guys just figure this out now? No offence intended but only 1GB of ram was obvious to me that this issue was going to occur. Of the 1GB 1/3 is taken for the system and an almost another 1/3 by the video card your then left with barley over a 3rd for yourself. Come June 20th ill be very happy to get the 2GB NA model. Like I said no offence but I saw this coming.

Mate, no offence, i'm not expert with android or any other developer stuffs but i will certainly disagree about pointing out the RAM to be the problem.
I have both SGS2 and SGS3 and as of the moment i can confidently say that when it comes to multi-tasking, my SGS2 performs better than the latter. How did i come up to it?
-->In my SGS2, I can simultaneously run my GPS on, run Sygic Navigation, play music using Poweamp, while watching Avatar HD(2GB) using the Stick it Pop up video player by MBFG, and then leave all running in background and even watch video using the Floating browser without having any problem, not to mention the live wallpaper i'm using and all the widgets running as well. And take note, both SGS2 and SGS3 have the same amount of RAM.
Right now, I'm also quite disappointed with my S3 as it locks up every now and then with just a simple usage.
My theory or say, just a guess is that, it is related with the Kernel or worst, the ROM itself. Let's just wait for the hard-working devs here to find a workaround for this matter.

Right, but how much does your gnex stock google OS use vs the GS3? You probably have a ton more free ram out of the box than the GS3 does...i guess we know why they put 2 gigs into the new (north america/japan) ones...
Also, does using a different launcher get rid of all that memory? I would think twiz is still running somewhere, just not the launcher itself, so it's still eating up ram... so once you flash a CM/AOKP, they should have this figured out...
I personally don't play much beyond angry birds / words w friends and that type of stuff, so I don't see this being an issue for me, esp with 2 gigs, but I feel your frustration, that would piss me off, spending that kinda money and having those issues.
Well US version was not even an option for many of us in USA. I wanted unlimited data and that's possible on international version only. And I have no issues with ram. Everything works perfectly smoothly for me.

The gnex is using a different soc so it's not going to be the same as the SGS3.
Honestly, we are early adopters and I'm sure Samsung is having most of us be to real beta testers so they can report bugs and fix them.

Deleted oops wrong thread.
The only reason Samsung added 2gigs of ram was to separate the competition also using the same dual-cores(one-x) . This also is used for marketing and final purchasing decisions for noobs.

Im with corey on the Cloud storage. Instead of keeping photos and videos on your device just back them up to one of the many cloud services, google drive, dropbox, or my favorite box (got 50gb's free from them <3). Then just delete the photos/videos from your device and you will have all the room you want for movies. We also are waiting on OTG enabled in the kernel but it may be sometime for we see that. OTG would pretty much take care of all your memory issues.

only if you have unlimited data (or high limit)
according to oppo, OTG isn't supported hardware-wise at all (so any kernel fixes won't work)

With the Oppo Find 5 32 GB version, I think the cloud will get you through the same as having and SD card, that is my plan anyways there are so many cloud services that are giving out free storage. This is pretty much the best device you can buy for the price that has 32GB of storage built in. With 32 GB built in you can play all your games and apps right from the device. I had the International One X and never filed 32GB up with all my games or apps. That was one of the main attractions for me when purchasing the Oppo Find 5, because on other 16GB devices you cant play games or apps from an SD card, so really a cloud is just as good as an SD card basically, they will both do the same thing.
For some reason Google screwed their system up by not allowing programs such as apps2sd and others that do the same on Gingerbread, at least I still think Gingerbread can do this? I don't see why they did this, other than the fact that they are most likely trying push their cloud service but even with Google Cloud you cant play games or apps. You would think they would want to sell more apps and games from the play store but what happens when you only got 16GB, you can only buy so much to have on your device at once. I' thinking next year or the following year 64GB and 128GB are going to be standard with new devices having it built in 64GB and 128GB, yeah that would be really nice 128GB onboard, no SD card crap to mess with.
Does it have a removable battery?

I don't mind the design as long as we start getting 32gb base and phones that last >12 hrs with 3 hours screen on time.
