I watched this guy for a while when i was getting into rooting and roms. He explains things pretty good. Hope this helps...Sorry i couldn't help more with Heimdall. Heimdall works great after you get rooted i just don't know how to root with it. Lame i know!!!! lol

I dont have windows, and dont have any way of getting windows OS.
Could someone who knows please post the code to Heimdall flash CWM, or verify what I have is correct? I would really appreciate it.
Code:
heimdall flash --pit atlas_v2.2.pit --recovery recovery.bin --kernel zImage
Also, is there any other way to flash CWM besides with just windows? Seems kinda ridiculous that linux users dont have a way of doing this. I searched all over this forum and could not find a solid answer.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

You should broaden your search. This forum, while useful, is far from a complete resource.
There are a number of non-windows methods, bmlunlock and redbend being the easiest.

Sighhh... You can never just get a "Here ya go" on this forum can you...
Thanks but I've already looked at that.
No worries, problem already solved. Thanks anyways

Have you used the heimdall-frontend? This has made life easier for me. I would like to know if you flashed the CWM recovery file. did you put it into the recovery or kernel section? did it work for you?

I have been looking in everywhere for an answer.... perhaps the person that asked these questions a year ago has figured it out. I really would like to know.

It's ok bud I was just joking...everybody is so serious on here at times
Have you ever tried odin? If your willing to try then I can help you. Im not familiar enough with heimdall to give any good advice. Maybe somebody else can chime in on this one. Fyi Post a new thread in the Q&A section and you might get more responses. Trying to rid of all questions in the general section per rule in sticky above!
I use Heimdall to flash on my ubuntu machine, but i've always used the frontend.
Ver 1.3 wants you to have your .tar in a certain format, so to avoid the trouble i'm using ver 1.2 with the ver 1.1 frontend.
Install both.
Download the recovery file, and unzip it, for recovery it should be named recovery.bin
To run heimdall press Alt+F2 and type in heimdall-frontend - Click run.
Under Recovery press browse and locate the recovery.bin you unzipped earlier.
Put phone in download mode.
Press start.
After it completes flashing, you will then have your new recovery.

Might be a more elegant way of doing this, but maybe try dual booting windows? Or google search heimdall which is a mac Odin equivalent. I'm not sure if the stock firmware works with it or not. You should definitely confirm that before attempting to use heimdall.

Cool. SO now either try heimdall for mac http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/, using a friends computer, or dual booting windows to use the appropriate odin method.

I fairly certain heimdall is not confirmed to work with our stock rom yet. I would highly advise against it if at all possible, try to borrow a pc to do it via odin.

Hi There,
After using the search tool on XDA, i've come across two solutions to root my S4 (International version, i9505) on a Mac (OS X). One of them is motochopper. I've installed it, and followed all the instructions. But at the end, i keep getting this line in Terminal where it says "failure" instead of success. When I open Superuser on my device, it keeps saying that i should update. This is also not working.
The other solution was Heimdall. I got the instruction from the site of CyanogenMod. Heimdall keeps crashing here. I removed Kies from my computer and it still doesn't work. I've got no /opt/local/lib on my machine, not even in the hidden files part.
So does anybody know another solution to root my i9505 on a Mac?
Nobody out there with a solution?

Thnx dude, but it's like you didn't even read the OP. Heimdall keeps crashing on my mac, so giving me a download-link to Heimdall aint really a solution.
The second link you gave me: i'm using a mac, as I stated clearly in the OP. Odin is a windows tool.

I stupidly tried to flash a custom recovery without unlocking the boot loader (2nd time rooting a phone) and of course now I get the message that there is software not authorized by Verizon, yada yada yada.....I can't use the phone. As I already said, I'm not very smart w/ this I guess. I rooted my phone with the new towelroot method and it worked flawlessly....but then I tried to go further and figured I'd just do everything necessary to run custom roms. Anyways, I've got the yellow triangle and I really really don't want to go to Verizon and try to talk my way into a replacement (I just got a replacement phone about 2 weeks ago) Is there any way to fix this? Before you reply, know I don't have a windows computer so I don't think I can use Odin, and my phone isn't showing up in Kies when I connect it after making sure my phone is in download mode. I'm at a loss.
Your only option is Odin, I would say find a friend with a windows computer... Then once you are back on track, read on this forum about safestrap before you flash anything else... Good luck!

Thanks. I know what I'm doing today now
Can anyone point me in the right direction to download the right pit file for use in Odin (Jodin3 to be specific). It's supposed to find the proper pit file automatically, but it can't for some reason. Oh, and I did do some digging....for some reason the only pit file I found (which was uploaded in Oct. of 2013) doesn't work. I can't find anything else other than that...if there is anything else.
I am trying to fix his phone for him but I am unable to find any full 4.4.2 Odin tars, are there even any available yet? The only ones I can find seem to be on websites I have never heard of haha.
Help Please
I also Rooted via Towel Method and flashed clockwork touch recovery not thinking, and i am also in the same boat. Can anyone point me in the direction of a stock TAR file to flash with ODIN, So i can get my note working again.. Any help would be great.. Thanks in advance

Glad I could be of some help
I rebooted my tablet as I do once a week, and it got stuck in a boot loop, and will not load. I've researched and the best I can tell is that there was an update and somehow I interrupted it or it was corrupted. Either way, I am stuck.
I've done a factory reset, and it didn't help. I use Fedora 21, and loaded adb and tried to sideload five images, all official samsung android, and I keep getting the error Footer is wrong, signature verification failed.
Can someone walk me through this, I'm not dumb, but I am extremely rusty with commandline. Break it down barney style for this old vet.
Thank you all
