[Q] Note3 Firmware version order - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an italian note 3 with "KOT49H.N9005XXUENA6" firmware and "NA2" baseband.
Can anyone please tell me what is my region, if i am on the latest firmware version, also the update sequence (NA2>NA6>NB3>NB4) please?
And, is there any reason to update from my fw version to the latest available?

Get Odin 1.85 -
Download The firmware, there's plenty of Kitkat links on this forum in General section, unrar it to get the .md5 file, put your phone in download mode - Power button, Volume down and home button - open Odin on your PC - plug in your phone, load the .md5 file into the PDA/AP slot of Odin and press start.

can anyone please answer my questions?

Completely stock ROM to flash through ODIN?
to further clarify. the original, stock, launch day firmware has a build number ending with ucalem which includes a baseband radio labeled as uclem.
this is nothing more than an educated guess but from a slight familiarity with samsungs naming conventions of the past the baseband and firmware were probably compiled one last time on the same day getting ready to be placed on launch devices which is why the names are sooo... similar

i would actually guess it was meant to be flashed in kies. that's the icon next to the firmware. also it's a zip and if i'm not mistaken the odin pda slot looks for some other extension.
I didn't know Kies allowed you to just load any firmware in it. I thought Kies required you download the firmware on command.
EDIT: Yea, I looked through Kies, couldn't find a way to load a firmware from a file there. I'm downloading it now to try to see if the ZIP file may contain what we need. I'm not the most skilled with it, but if it does......we are GOLDEN
I suspect the Kies icon means they pulled it from Kies. In theory we should be able to extract a .tar file from such if it isn't but I can't say.

If you look inside the zip file you will find the tar.md5 which is usually ODIN. Not sure what the dll file in there is for though, and may explain the Kies part.

From what I can tell Kies does the same as ODIN, just user friendly. Why would Samsung have 2 different files for restore? Easier to use the same files and just add an initialisation file for Kies. I did just email them with that question, see if they get back to me. Maybe someone will find out beforehand, but why not inquire while we wait?
Will be interesting to hear what you get back. Don't want to flash this through anything yet, at least till we find out what it is.
Could provide for an ODIN root method.

We already have an ODIN root method, if anything it might provide a stock reflash that might actually clear the modified counter.

guys this is latest firmware provided by samsung and uploaded by samsung to kies.
we have just uploaded it to our fw database to allow you faster download (than from kies or hotfile and so) if you need this 'update' to restore system or make a mod
this is odin flashable as any other firmware you can download from kies

So to flash through ODIN we would rename the tar.md5 to just .tar and load that into ODIN? Or is there another trick?
I'm flashing it now via ODIN. I'm bricked anyway, so I figure, what the hell.
Let you know shortly.

Kies user friendly ? good joke - ive heard about more bricks due to kies app mallfunction that via odin
you can not upload file to kies for flaah - it mut be done by odin
and if this version has another version number than the one your phone got shipped that means at&t pushed an updated firmware
peace, going to bed till tomorrow
Currently flashing, will report back in a few
SUCCESSFUL!
For teh brick'd noobs
All I did was unzip and choose the tar.md5 file into Odin PDA and click start. Easy.

[Q] New update for my phone, will i lose everything with ODIN?

Want to do this right, so thought i would ask before diving in.
found a new firmware update from sammobile.
got custom recovery, rooted, supersu and titanium.' backup.
if I flash via download mode and ODIN, will it wipe my phone?
how to do this right without loosing everything? just use titanium and backup system apps etc and give it a whirl?
It won't erase anything. But you will lose custom recovery and root. All apps will remain.
ah, excellent. then just rerootwith chainfire auto root and flash recovery again.. thanks..
Btw, I`m in norway. and noticed this release now, http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/41069/N910FXXU1ANK4_N910FTEN1ANK1_TEN.zip/
but it is more recent firmwares than this. would it be safe to flash a newer rom than this, f.ex an unbranded rom from italy etc? or would i be asking for trouble.?
You can flash newer from other regions with no problems.

Meant to reply and not to thank cause I don't agree with you. Csc is interchangeable.
As long as you don't try to downgrade and the firmware is for your specific model then no problems should arise. Been doing it for years with every samsung I have had since the original i9000. Don't know what you have done to come up with those problems.
The only way I see a problem is if you tried to flash a firmware that specifically was asking for a pit file to repartition and you didn't comply. Then yes, there I can agree.
And I'm always speaking of original firmwares.
Cheers

It is ok. Ty for your explanations but i still without agree with you :highfive:
Most of Europe uses the F model. Some countries import the C variant. If you flash the correct one for your model it won't cause you any problems. Doesn't matter if it's Italy's Germany's or any eu state just as long it is for the intended model. I don't know if it applies globally though.
If i set my phone info to original via wanam than i got software update, is it possible to update?

I coudn't install a firmware for a different CSC for my SM-N910H, it always fails at the end of odin flash, I am not the only one with this problem. I read somewhere that you can't install a ROM with a different CSC for some of Note 4 variants.

Thanks!
Darktitor for the Korean mirror!
Note:
Korea is a good start, but I need more mirrors to make this truly multi-region. If you have your country's firmware uploaded to a mirror for the SM-P900 then post the link and I will add it to the OP. I would like this thread to be an alternative to having to use Sam Mobile or other slower sites and people on XDA could come here to get their firmware updates! I need your help though because I can't host every country on my AFH account so any mirrors provided will be added to the OP and you will be thanked for your help!
Is this the new Lollipop Version?
I believe it's just the fullnstock version in case anyone wants to go back to stock or receive an update or softbricks his/hers note pro Extremely handy to have around, of course I could be mistaken.
You can download all full versions on sammobile.com or on samdownloads.de or on samsung-updates.com.
It is full stock NK1 for people who softbrick or need to Odin back like I did last night. If Lollipop is released I will add it to this thread as well. Even though Sammobile and Samsung updates has these files the free downloads are incredibly slow and I have an uploader account at Android File host so I figured why not use it for a faster mirror? But if you want to download from the other sites I will not deter you.
The Problem is, that this ROM is only for one Country. If you would like to give the People faster download an so on you must upload ALL ROMs.

I posted the one for my country because I got it directly from Kies when it was updating my device. I don't have the hosting space to upload every country and it would take me weeks to download them from Sam Mobile due to their bandwidth limits and my upload speed. However, there are options:
1.) Upload your country's firmware to a file hosting site and share the link with me and I'll post it here with the country code giving you, or anyone else who provides a link, full credit in the OP.
or
2.) Create your own thread and host every country's firmware then I'll happily lend you my link and close this thread.
With more help I can make this post better, but to complain and offer no feasible solution is useless to everyone in the community.

Awesome
I have been trying to root for the past several days and kies takes way too long to get back to stock rom.
not sure if I got a bad download, but i got a bootloop with this firmware. The sammobile website has XAP at the end...not HOME.
Not sure, but there was no recovery img installed, and I could not boot into recovery...only download mode. So, since I was planning to root, I flashed twrp in ODIN...I can boot into twrp recovery...but not the rom.
Now when I boot into download my knox warranty void counter is 1.
redownloading and flashing in ODIN again. Hope I can get it to boot. If not, I have a brick....all because of samsungs crappy lollipop OTA that borked everything. This was my work tablet too. If I have to replace, I will be going to surface pro and will never buy another sammy product again.
Venting.
EDIT: I got it too boot! I redownloaded the files, flashed in odin...but it still wouldnt boot. What worked was, I manually booted into recovery (stock recovery by holding power and volume up). Then I went to wipe data/factory reset....delete all user data. then reboot...and it booted right up! Whew.
Now time to root, do the triangle away knox trip counter reset...and flash cm12.1

I may have spoken too soon. Lol
There is an app on the play store called triangle away...but note pro is not on list of compatible devices. To my understanding it works like this.
Knox security trip : 1
You can reset to 0.
Knox security trip : 0x1
You cannot reset at all.
Either way I could care less because I plan on staying rooted and running aosp/cm roms or another custom rom if I ever go back to touchwiz. And my warranty is already expired anyway so...oh well. A voided warranty isn't really a big deal to me. If I brick this device oh well... I'll buy a nexus tablet.

It just a security app added in Korean version. If you don't want, you can remove it in application manager.
However, US has released OH2 version, why using OG6 of Korean.

Theres something wrong with my tablet. Whenever I try to flash the stock ROMs in Odin it fails and soft bricks every time. This past week I've been trying all the different stock ROMs that work from the factory 4.4.2 to the various 5.02 ones to see which one works and they've all failed except the Korean one.
I always had to flash the cm rom in between soft bricks and another rom just to be able to boot up my nandroid backuo. The whole situation is weird lol. All I want is lollipop and my keyboard working with xposed.

Impossible to get out of BOOTLOOP: soft-bricked

Hi community!
First time posting.
So, my SM-G900I (shipped from Taiwan to Aus) recently started bootlooping so i decided to reflash a stock rom. I initially flashed an XSU version of the G900I stock and then a BRI version of stock. This didnt remove the bootloop. I then installed TWRP and cleared all the necessary caches, formatted data and everything else. still in bootloop.
I installed CM13 in TWRP install menu and it still didnt boot. I've also tried pulling the battery for extended periods of time. I dabbled in terminal commands but it was all a bit above me!
is there anything else i can do or is the phone dead? it can still enter download mode and TWRP. is this a battery problem? in TWRP the battery says it's 80% charged so it seems to hold charge.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers.

I did. 16GB G900I pit file was flashed alongside BL, AP, CP, and CSC files (got directly from Kies).
I am able to install a custom recovery and access those menus but i can't get in to the stock recovery menu.

Thanks for the quick response but there are none there for G900I models. Just a question, how do these differ from manually putting in pit, AP, BL, CP and CSC seperately?
cheers.

Download update to samfirmwar it is 1 package file home tar md5 put on PDA and flash make sure download correct firmware of your country region
best way : download samsung kies, go to download mode on your phone, connect it to pc, open samsung kies, go to tools->firmware update settings, this will update your phone to latest firmware fixing any software related problem. after that you can root and flash any custom rom.
Gratz

Hi man, Congratz. I'd like to know which version did you download? Because I also have Taiwan version but is not in the list, just India and Australia options.
Thanks for your help.

[How-To]Install Vodafone-Branded Marshmallow firmware to your G920F ONLY!!!

Hi to everyone!!!
I saw that many of you are having issues about the installation of the Vodafone-branded OS. If you want to install it very easily and fast, just follow this guide! You can follow this guide to install any branded OS to your G920F ONLY
WARNING: This procedure will delete all of data, however it wont trip KNOX
1. Download the Vodafone branded OS (here mirror not mine)
2. Download this pit file if your phone is the G920F ONLY
3. Open Odin and put the pit that we downloaded in the pit section and the firmware in the AP selection.
4. Start flashing
5. Voila. It is recommended to wipe the data and cache after flashing the OS to ensure the best performance out of it.
That's it. This pit file is made from @yakapa40 and make sure you press the "Thanks" button to him too.
Don't forget to press the "Thanks" button to me to for letting you know about this trick. I have tested and it works like charm!!!
No extra help will be given from me
Thanks for this PIT file, and if we want to go back to the original pit file do you know where we can find it ?
My version goes like this
1. Unpack G920FXXU3DPB8+Service+firmware.zip (Link)
2. Put the files where they say they should go (AP = AP / BL = BL ect)
3. Press Start
4. Done
This wipes you're storage so backup beforehand!
EDIT: Not sure if this trips KNOX, it shouldn't as its official firmware, but I cannot tell you as I already had KNOX tripped from the beta

You're right, this wipes all of your data.
But it wont void the KNOX counter

It is not harmful to the SIM(Slovenia). It is operating normally. The only restart 10 minutes.
Work normally. I updated by the method as described above. Data is not deleted if you do not want. Root disappears.
Guys, how about Voice Quality?
We have new modem...
Guys one question i used this pit to flash from BTU to ORO firmware , then i did factory reset and flashed Xef without this pit and again did factory reset so i got csc from xef active...After doing ota 6.0.1 i again did factory reset so now everything is clean i dont have root or knox 0x1...My question is do i have to flash some kind of original pit from 6.0.1 xef or i am good to go like this ?? I downloaded the PIT And FW and followed the OP's instructions, worked perfectly. My question is, With tha new security update a while ago, where you can't downgrade your Android OS version. Now that I am on the 6.0.1 from the OPs post, am I able to revert back to my original PIT and Android 5.1.1?
If so, how do I know what PIT is my original one, and to reflash it do I need to follow the OPs instructions, only changing the PIT used and FW used? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Forgot to say, I am on the Meteor Network, in Ireland.
Thank you! Running 6.0.1...Couldn't wait any longer! I'm on 3UK
