My tablet turned off earlier this month. No Bringing it back from the dead. Sent to Asus for repair. They want almost 200 for motherboard labor tax and shipping. They don't guarantee their own repairs. I can get a new one on amazon for 229. But should I down a little more and get a Samsung tablet. They way I've been lied to, (they told me 92 when I started the rma) I don't think they should have any more of my hard earned cash. Customer service means a lot to me, and the way I have been treated I feel they just don't care.
I do need a program to read my super notes, as I have over a years worth of server and network info that I can't access. I did back them up to a flash drive and my computer. Does anyone know how of a program that I can get to then with? I tried supernote pro but it crashes on my note3. Thank you for you help and listening to me vent.
Cheers, Bill

Hi billwinkle,
paying 200$? €? for the repair would be too much. You could sell your old one for parts and get a new one. Then you would have a new waranty period too. If your dock still works, you can keep using it and would only need to buy the tablet. On the other hand, the device is getting a bit old and it looks like Asus has stopped releasing updates for it. Which is, considering our wonderful developers and their quality Roms, not really a problem. If you don't mind voiding your (new) waranty, if you live outside of the EU.
There should be other Devices in the same price range. Off the top of my head I think the Nexus 7 is. My brother's got one and it really fits well in one hand... Ok a big hand. It's got a huge fan/modding community and gets updated really fast. But it's smaller than the tf300t and got no dock. If you're willing to spend (a lot) more money, you could get the Asus tf701, or a Note tablet from Samsung, or one of the many others. It really depends on what you plan to do with the tablet and how much you can/want to spend.
I haven't been following the tablet market closely and I'm pretty sure other people are more knowledgeable and can give you better advice.
Regarding Super notes: If there are no other apps to open the files and you can't borrow an asus tablet from a friend to open and export them, then you might consider an android emulator. Like Bluestacks or AndroVM (would have linked, but got no permission to do that yet *sigh*). If you can boot an Asus Rom with it, you should be able to install and start Super notes and access your files. But it will be slow and not something for daily work.
Best regards, NatherKross
Thank you for all that info. My tablet is on the way back unfixed. In waiting to get it back before I decide what to do. I can get a new one on amazon for 229. And since I have the dock 2 casesi might just do that. I'm hoping they fixed it anyway as it shows they tested it before shipping it out. May have been just a loose connector. Let's hope so.

I went with new after all. 229 less 30 for signing up for an Amazon card. Same price as repairing old one. Both should be here on same day. Since I have so much invested in the Asus tablet I decided to stay with them.

I received my new TF300T last night. All charged up and updated. I will get my old one back today from Asus. Its going to be interesting to see if it starts up or not. If not i will take it apart and see if it was the motherboard or just a connector that came loose.

I just got my old tablet back from Asus. I put it on the charger and after an hour i turned it on. to my surprise it actually came on. When I sent it in not even the power light would come on. I tried every trick to bring it back to life. I even tried the factory reset, nothing. All of my apps are still installed. i find it interesting that if it was working all along then I would have lost all my apps and settings when I did the reset button trick. Asus wanted $200 to fix my non broken tablet. I have a feeling that a power cable came loose, and when they put it back together it solved my problem.
I'm thinking that people who are having the sleep of death issue could just have a loose cable as mine suffered from it for about 3 months before it failed to start at all.
I will test it out more closely after it has a full charge.

so my tablet died completely, can't unroot won't charge i called new egg i am 4 days over my exchange period and they told me that they would make me an exception and send me a rma so i can get a new one.. what verison of t.f. has everyone been getting from new egg exchanges, i was hoping that i can get a tegra 2. i am very shocked on how great new eggs customer service actually is even though they don't speak great english, they left me feeling very happy and satisfied now why the hell can't sprint be that way.
Newegg rocks. No doubt about it.
what do you mean you hope you can get a tegra 2? your TF101 that died and you are trying to send back has a tegra 2 processor in it already so you have had a tegra 2 this whole time.
are you talking about the supposed tegra 3 that wont be out until late fall 2011?
No imean the tegra 2 second generation the ines that can oc steady at 1.7

Alot of people like Newegg because of their customer service. Newegg specializes in computer parts, they know **** happens.
Newegg is amazing. I have purchased every computer component I've ever owned through them.
I don't think the egg is quite as good as Amazon, but definitely in a strong second place.
Did you tell them your machine is rooted tho?
They can still reject the rma if they found out the unit is rooted.
After all rooting the device voids all warranty of the device
been a newegg customer for over a decade. my most recent awesome experience was a bought a 42" LED-LCD tv. when turning it on, all i saw were vertical lines and none of the buttons did anything. they gave me a UPS return label and replaced it and now i have a perfect tv. i hate companies that make you pay return shipping, which is why i have stuck with newegg for years.
i got my TF at newegg too!
They dont know the device is rooted however it will not power on not charging wont do anytging so that might be hard to find out with the device not powering on,at all

I'm on my third RMA with ASUS for the Transformer... I figure some of you might want to hear my experience with ASUS service.
As the title above states, my dock's keys do not respond. The battery charges, the Ports work, and the touchpad works without a problem.
I'm a pretty tech-savvy guy, a back-seat hacker, if you must. Thus, the only thing that has kept me from opening this thing and jiggling the ribbon connectors is the warranty. So, I decided to send it in for RMA.
I get the kb dock back two weeks later. I was extremely disappointed when I docked the tablet to find that the problem was there right out of the box. They had "run diagnostics" and had not found anything wrong with it. Obviously, they missed something.
Well, I like to think that I'm a pretty reasonable guy, so I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. "Hmm..." I thought... "maybe the problem is in the tablet itself and not the kb..." So, I call for the 2nd RMA and sent it along with the dock. To this shipment, I've had to spend $130 in shipping charges so far. To add insult to injury, they had it ready on a Friday, but I had to call in the following Wednesday to ask them to please ship my tablet since it was just sitting there. I got it the next day via FedEx.
I received my tablet the day before yesterday along with the dock. Once again, upon opening the packages, the keyboard keys were unresponsive; the merchandise had been returned to me in exactly the same state I sent it in.
I immediately got on the phone with ASUS, and the tech on the phone told me they had once again ruin diagnostics and had found no problems, and that I'd have to send it in again. I, understandably, was furious, and explained to him that I would not spend a single penny in shipping since they had my tablet and my dock and didn't bother to replicate my issue, and added that even if my tablet and my dock did pass their diagnostics with flying colors I didn't care if MY dock doesn't work with MY tablet. After talking to his supervisor a
RMA service center magically appeared 5 minutes from my house!
So, now i have my third RMA in the works for Monday. Hopefully this is the last, but realistically I think the picture is bound to complicate itself.
Bottom line with ASUS service... You get the picture... Draw your own conclusions
Thats terrible man. Bad enough you got a device thats defective, but making you pay to ship it and then NOT FIXING IT is unforgivable. Next step should be shipping it back to them with a well written letter outlining everything and 'keep it' at the end. Then doing a chargeback on your credit card. Any subsequent attempts to ding your credit would be resolved by submitting same letter to credit-reporting agencies. Just my $0.02.

yeah dude this is why we have credit cards. you get the backing of a multi billion dollar company when you have problem with merchants. it's your right to file a chargeback.
if you have amex or visa they will replace/refund you even if asus doesn't. in particular, amex will double the warranty up to 1 year plus stolen/damage protection. My sister's ipod broke(white screen upon boot, 3rd gen nano) and amex sent my dad a check for $150 no questions asked. didn't even need to send the broken ipod in.
don't let yourself be held hostage by asus because of poor support or bad product
unfortunately i bought my first transformer with Discover card and they wouldn't cover it when it got stolen . i called AMEX and they said they would have refuned me!
UPDATE: Service center next to my home doesn't service equipment bought at Best Buy. Thus, had to call ASUS to reschedule RMA. Now, they tell me that if I download and install atk driver, the problem will be fixed.

I had my device stuck in RMA hell twice for a total of about 2 months. I originally sent it in for a white "cloudy" spot that developed on the screen. Got it back two weeks later with the worst back light bleed I've ever seen. Sent it back out that same day and it was stuck with their techs who repeatedly claimed no trouble found. Asked to speak to supervisors and was promised a call within "24 - 48 hours". I'd call back every 3 days telling the I never received the promised call, and they said the solution was to wait ANOTHER 24-48 hours. After about a month and a half they finally replaced my LCD and sent it back to me, but I'm disgusted with ASUS at this point.

Yeah, going through the same thing. I sent it back on an RMA because it totally died after the ICS update, they flashed ICS on it again (and it died again within 4 hours), sent it back again and now they've had it for about a month. I don't really care since I bought a Samsung Tab in the meantime which seems to be built a lot better and hasn't given me any problems - but I would like to get it back at some point to sell it. I've pretty much sworn off buying anything made by Asus based on my bad luck with the transformer and dock. This lack of customer service may be acceptable in China, but it's a good way for a company to crash and burn in the US and EU.

I sadly broke my Nexus 7's(2013) screen and digitizer in less then 5 days. Shameful I know, but anyways I contacted Asus since there wasn't anything else I could do. Their customer service set me up with a representative within 5 minutes. I explained my problem and he told me that they can fix it but it may cost me. There wasn't another option so I said okay. So they sent me an email with a form and told me to ship my Nexus to a Asus repair facility. I did and within in a week they sent me it back and fixed the screen and digitizer for FREE! Yes free well unless you count the shipping which was a small price to pay for fixing the device that wasn't their fault in the first place. Anyways if any of you have problems contact Asus I'm pretty sure they can help you. I'm so happy thought I lost my Nexus.

That great to hear ASUS did that... +1 for Asus
Walmart sold me a 2 year accidental glass break/water damage warranty coverage for $28 it was a heck of a lot cheaper than Best Buys 2 year warranty at $70 so I got it. Hopefully if anything happens to the device its easily covered and ill get a new one instead of something fixed.
Off Topic - Does anyone have any experience with Walmart warranties they can share?
Asus was nice and pleasant to deal with.
I had to RMA one of my TF101s three times. It was the contracted repair shop (in Texas) who didn't fix the issue the 1st/2nd time.
They just re-flashed the stock image and sent back to me saying no-problem-found (I carefully documented the issue and suggested
they replace the mainboard due to faulty flash-storage). The 3rd time, I talked to Asus/San Jose directly and they asked the shop to
replace the board. It works beautifully since.
On the 1st RMA, somehow I unexpectedly got a new charger in the mail, from Asus (the issue was the unit didnot power on
even when plugged in). The 1st time I sent it out, it had a customROM onboard .. haha.
I've also only had good experiences with asus technical service. When my pc motherboard failed after a year, new one free!
Good to hear you had such a good experience with Asus.

So I'm almost done with my first 30 days with the Moto X and I have stumbled across some flaws.
1. Dust behind the glass. I found two small dust particles while installing a cheap screen protector. Removed the protector and its still there.
2. The screen doesn't sit flush. When swiping my hand to the left, i can feel a lip. Swipe to the right and there's no lip until I run my fingers down towards the bottom right corner.
3. There's a fiber out of place and it catches my finger when running my hand across the Woven White back.
So in other words I'm considering returning it to be fixed. I may be a jerk, but I paid good money for it and expect the same in return. Anyone else go this route for flaws on their Moto X? What's the usual turn around time?
Sent from my XT1053 using Tapatalk
Mine has none of those flaws. By all means return it. But for refund, not repair. Then just order a new one.
I though about the refund route, but I got it at $100 off that one week and i don't want to pay the extra $30.
Sent from my XT1053 using Tapatalk
Tell them that, and politely insist on the same deal on the new order. Ask for escalation if you must. They'll get it squared away for you.
Well I'll try the repair route first to see how things turn out and how fast their turn around time is. Its suppose to go through more inspections before coming back to me, but we'll see about that. I'll ask for the refund if it's not perfect this time around.
Sent from my XT1053 using Tapatalk
Sounds like the repair will take you outside the return period.

I tried this route (returned a def. X for a refund because at the time I thought I would switch to the N5 but have since decided to stick with the X). I asked for another $100 off code (or $30 depending on how you look at it) and they wouldn't budge. They said they can only honor what is currently on the web site. Went through two reps on this.
Guess I am getting the N5 after all.

Was your negotiation with them at the time you arranged for the return or after the fact?
I was one of the original 150 off cyber Monday buyers, and when I spoke to them about a return I mentioned this and they made arrangements to offer the same pricing on a replacement order.
I have returned many devices with motorola and am in the process of returning another one. Currently they only do Advanced returns, meaning that they give you a code to build another phone for zero money up front. If they receive the returned phone within 10 days of you getting your new phone, then they wont charge you. If its past 10 days, they will charge you.
They offered me the same advanced order initially. Just that now I want to go case-less and need a perfectly smooth back. Since its there, might as well swap out the screen due to a piece of lint and not being flush. As for the 30 day return period... I'm sure they'll OK it if I change my mind. Its not my fault there's something wrong with the phone. If all else fails, switching to Nexus 5 or GPE HTC One because I hate the Galaxy S4.
I have to say though, it is nice jumping back onto the old Galaxy Nexus with CM11.

So I finally got my phone back yesterday. At first glance they didn't fix anything. I still have debris behind the screen, barely noticeable. Still have the defects on the back cover. So naturally I called, as I have been all last week, and spoke directly with the Repair Call Center Manager on Duty and he is sending out a new Moto X because of my problems with the phone. On top of that, because of all the BS I dealt with last week, I got a bunch of other free stuff altogether. First off, they gave a free Commuter case the first week I had the phone. Called back and complained about their horrible repair lead time and misinformation and got a Power Pack 3000. Called the day my phone was to be shipped out and got a free Bluetooth Car Speaker. Called yesterday because I didn't get my Moto X Retail Box back even though I was promised I would and I got a free Motorola Buds Bluetooth Headset.
So yeah, I made them pay for their overall poor Customer Service. I explained to the manager that I was not about to put my funds on hold for their mistakes and that I wanted to know who was going to take full responsibility for the actions that have occurred. I stood my ground and made them sorry for treating me that way. Hence I ended up with about $214 of free stuff.
If I don't get my new phone by Thursday, hell will break loose again, this time I won't hold back.
And just for the record, they don't know if anyone has already offered you a free accessory, hence they offered the Power Pack twice.

Way to keep the general prices up for everyone else. It was free to you, but the rest of the world now has to pay for you "teaching them a lesson"

Of course it's teaching them a lesson. I paid a fair price for a phone that should have came in a better condition than that. If it was to be fair, they should've allowed me to use the flawed Bitcoin payment in exchange for the phone.
But if you're up for paying for an item only to receive it with flaws that's you're own choice. I have a few junk cars that you might be interested in.
And from a real consumers point of view. I don't mind paying good money for a good product. But if you think I would let you pull a fast one on me, you are in for a world of hurt.
And by the way, you may have already paid the price by not standing up for yourself and allowing companies to push you around to make a profit. I'm just not gullible enough to allow that. I was just hoping to help anyone else who has had a fast one pulled on them.

You and I share the same philosophy. If I pay good money (or any money) for a product, it better be FLAWLESS otherwise you bet your a$$ I'm going to raise hell and keep exchanging until I get what I want. I went through 5 HTC One X's in a 2 week period just trying to get a flawless one. Went through 4 Nexus 7s as well. The whole argument about people like you and I driving costs up is ridiculous and without any merit- if anything it's beneficial to everyone else because it lets manufacturers know that they are releasing defective products and they can't get away with it, and in a perfect world ultimately resulting in stricter quality control. People who are OK with keeping defective products are the ones who hurt the industry.

Hello guys,i sended my tablet 2 times for the grounded touchscreen issue many of you know ,first time my tablet returned after 2 days at the repair center and the center didn't done anything to it,just a hard reset.
So I Send the tablet back for a second time ,this time the tablet was there over 20days,this time they replace a "usb board" so i thought problem fixed, today i got my tablet and it came with the same problem.... but this time more horrible with with missing touches all over the upper middle part of the Screen when it's not grounded and that's not enough,i was shocked when i saw the service damaged the frame of my tablet!! ,seems like someone did try to open it with a screwdriver and the frame has a damaged/broke part on the top right ,i called the service center and told them that the problem hasn't fixed still! and specially for the damaged they service did on the frame! and i did send a picture of it ,they told me they will make a new RMA and i will send it tomorrow AGAIN.
My adventure continues,i used to be a very big supporter of Asus... has anyone experience anything similar? please let me know ,or any suggestion guys
They have had mine for 4 weeks.........
I just got my tablet back day before yesterday. It took exactly 2 weeks from the time I sent it. I was having an issue with the USB port. It wouldn't charge or connect to my pc while the tablet was turned on. It would charge when it was powered off and the computer could see it while in fastboot mode. So I was able to return it to stock and relock the bootloader.
I don't know the details of what was repaired. Is that documented somewhere? I did setup up an account with ASUS. I actually started the whole RMA process online. Never actually spoke to a person. For the most part it was pretty painless other than not having a tablet for 2 weeks.
Here are videos i took after this second repair to see the problem is still here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60oysCFNopk

and this is what they do to my tablets frame, which i had in amazing condition since day one with case and screen protector View attachment 2691497

My heart goes out to anyone struggling with this tablet. I waited weeks and tried updates but it never helped. Customer service was of no assistance. I've read nothing but horror stories on sending in these units. Luckily I was able to correct my issue with Ts11 fix. I am now seeing people have problems with it messing up again.
Highly considering selling my unit online while it's working and washing my hands of the situation.
Just remember no matter what the company, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Be patient, kind, not rude, and persistent. You may have to make ten phone calls but eventually they will get tired of it and help.
I am glad to read that someone in this thread actually got Asus to send them a replacement. I would like to know what condition it's in and if you've had any problems with it yet???

Wow, at least you got an RMA!!!
I know this is off topic but does relate to what you say...
I have tried RMA for a 3 mother boards over the years. The last motherboard, about 6 months ago... They never compelted the RAM process, they never sent an email confirmation, nothing. I emailed multiple times and they said they have no RMA. Then out of the blue the email with RMA number. This was after many attempts on the website. So I send said motherboard back to asus thinking it was an issue with the power capacitors (I am very knowledgeable when it comes to mother boards). Keeping in mind, it was still under warranty, they email me back saying that there are scratches around the CPU mounting holes that are causing the issue and its $180 to fix.
Then they dremmeled down even further to "show" me, totally ruining the board.
I have other stories too... That match yours as I only use Asus motherboards on my PC Builds... But that is matching your story. They made product worse and then told me its not under warranty.
Asus is a great manufacturer but the customer service is horrid.
My Nexus 7 is @ Asus atm.
They received it today and sent me an email.
It'll take up to 7 - 10 business days before I know something...
I got 2 big red dots/smudges in/on my screen (on dark backgrounds)...

I also am experiencing the same problem. It irritates a lot while watching movies.

I just got mine back from Asus repair.
They replaced the LCD panel in my Nexus.
The 2 red smudges are gone but... I got 1 dead pixel back.
Phoned Asus support but apparently 1 dead pixel is within the legal margins here in NL and they cannot help me with this problem.
So long story short: 2 red smudges within a month of purchase, Asus replaced LCD, smudges gone, dead pixel instead.
I have never been to a service center until I start using tablets made by ASUS.
The very first time I went to their service center is because I got a Transformer Prime (TF201) that bricked itself when updating the official firmware! They took about a week to repair and the motherboard is replaced. I didn't have time to give a thorough check as they are about to close the center (I went after work). When I got home, I check the condition again and found out that the frame is loosen and scratched. What's worse, this new motherboard made me unable to unlock the tablet when I have decided to go cyanogenmod, I had to send it to RMA (RMA for what is obviously a software issue) again in order to get it unlocked.
I swore I'll never buy any ASUS product again.
Despite the hatred towards ASUS, Google Nexus once again draw me back to ASUS. As much as I believe in Nexus brand, ASUS once again made me disappointed (obviously I've the same touchscreen issue). However, I'm hesitated as to whether I should send it to RMA or not. I don't want to have a tablet in physically good condition that come back with a loosen and scratched frame.
This issue don't just made me hate ASUS more, it also made me starts doubting my previous thinking that "Nexus is a good brand" to buy.
