The title says it all. I'm afraid it may have been due to a wet application screen protector (last time I'm using that ****).
But everything works.... Just no knock on?? Any suggestions?

It might as well try to reflash your rom (stock?). I'm no expert in this but that's what I'd do.

try to remove screen protector,if still doesn't work try to perform factory reset.backup all data before your pc or something.

litterally out of the blue about 2 days ago, the 4 capacitive buttons on the front simply do not respond to touch...
and EVERYTHING else is working fine, keyboard, display, trackpad, everything else is working w/o a problem...
the lights behind the buttons come on, but no response when pressed...
its currently running Unity 1.27 (since released)
ive tried the patch via CWM to remap the keys to no avail... i am going to try and get into titanium to run a backup of apps, then wipe and flash version 1.31 of unity hoping its a software issue...
the closest thing i found to my issue (DZ related) was an issue with the light sensor causing the backlght to act up, but that isnt whats going on here, so as of now im at a total loss...
any help or direction would be greatly appreciated...
Ok, I wiped, flashed and installed 1.31 and same thing... Crap it has to be HW related then...
Ideas?

If you are sure its hardware related, then try to unroot your phone and see if you can get a replacement from your carrier.

You need to buy them and replace them. They come as a set with microphone and vibrator attached. Very cheap on ebay. Middle plate has to be separated from glass to get to them.

only reason im leaning towards HW is because i already reflashed, and wiped the phone, and they still dont respond...
only problem is,im in FL-USA, and this came from canada... lol

EDIT: wouldnt i be lookking at getting a digitizer? but if that were bad wouldnt i have more areas besides jus the buttons none responsive?

Curiously enough, my four capacitive buttons (apps/menu/back/search) have stopped working too

Try to find touch screen calibration for lg gt540 on xda forums i found it somewhere but i dont rember where
I would attempt to find something to calibrate the screen if that doesn't work the digitizer might needs replacing, you can get them cheap on eBay, and three are vids on YouTube with instructions.

It looks like it's themed that way, but you say your touch screen also doesn't with? Have you tried a different rom in safe strap?

Its not the theme. Its something to do with safestrap.and system. And when i go to recovery my screen flashing and give me different colors. But i only guss to do factroy rest. So need deep clean. Is there any odin wip to flash it to it

No theres no odin for mf3 (that im aware of at least)
Seems like you may have flashed something wrong...safestrap is not the problem...the problem is with your phone or something you flashed
Please tell us EVERYTHING youve done until it got to this state...
When did you install safestrap?
Did you make a new rom slot?
What kind of wipes did you do?
What have you flashed?
Anything else?

Hi All,
Smart pause while watching videos on Stock video app is not working, i am on 802 Intnl version. The icon comes up showing that it is trying to detect, but video does not pause. Phone is not rooted.
Smart stay is also not working, again the icon comes up trying to detect a face, but screen turns off.
Is there anything i am doing wrong?
Anyone else having any similar issues, should i get it exchanged?

Ya i guess will do that, but a little later. Phone works fine otherwise and honestly i don't even think i will use any of this features, maybe wait for a few months and then get a new one in exchange
It won't work in dark environment, you need to be in good light.
I don't know what happened but the other day my touchscreen started acting up. For some reason the knock on doesn't work at all, but knock off does. Also there is like a strip about a half inch from the top of my screen where the touchscreen just does not work. I can't click on anything in that area. I'm running OptimuS v 2.2

Not with stock KK ROM, nope. Maybe others can help you. Otherwise I'd recommend doing factory reset. If that doesn't help, returning to stock to see if it's the ROM or hardware.
Im having that same problem im on stock rom it has never been droped i dont know how to fix it and now it gives me an alert saying it detects my screen is broken although its not
