Can you go into settings, more, and possibly post a screen shot of the about device information. That would be helpful to resolving your issue. Next, what exactly did you do for the "full wipe" and what recovery are you using. With TWRP this is what I like to do before updating from a root to a new rom:
go into recovery
go to WIPE
Go to ADVANCED Select Davlik cache, System, Data, Internal Storage, Cache and SWIPE to Wipe 3x
Go back one screen and select format' data ... type "YES" and hit "GO" 3x
Go back one screen and Swipe to FACTORY RESET 3x
Go Back to main menu and Select Reboot... Select Recovery
After phone reboots... INSTALL ROM
This process usually gets rid of most problems and should correct your wifi issue as it makes no sense why this feature would be block while you are able to use data (are you). Hope this helps.
Before I can answer the going back question i really need to know more about what you did to get where you are.

flash latest KK kernel by ktoonz and read a little info in his thread. Also use the search button this issue has been raised countless times.
I agree that it been an issue but I believe it ti be cause more by unclean dirty downloads then by software. That's why I recommended the wife procedure.

I've searched the internets and can't seem to find any help with this problem...
This is the second time I've perm-rooted my HTC Glacier (had no problems the first time), and I decided to flash a custom rom to it for the first time...
MIUI, to be exact...love it, it works great...except for the part where it completely shuts off my data if I reboot it a second time or it turns off after I ...
When the phone starts back up again, MIUI will claim to have "updated" itself, and all that jazz...but when I look up in the title bar, there's no data signal whatsoever, as if the device allowing you to accept mobile data is completely shut off...it's just gone...I still have a phone signal tho, with some bars...the only way to fix this is for me to wipe the user data using the Custom Recovery thing, flash the Froyo factory reset, then re-install the custom rom...which is a pain in the anus...
I rolled back to Froyo before rooting, then perm-rooted and flashed the custom rom following the guides provided on unlockr.com, if that helps...I'm not even sure if it's a problem that's specific to the rom I have, but can anyone help me out with this?...
Re-download the ROM and verify the md5 if it's available. Reboot into recovery and format system (mounts and storage menu in clockworkmod). Then wipe data/factory reset. Then flash the ROM. If that doesn't work let us know.
Check your APN settings.

I am not sure what is going on here. If anyone could help out, it would be much appreciated.
I am on stock AT&T Touchwiz. I was running the stock kernel and ktoonsez's 5/27 TW kernel with no problem. When I flashed ktoonsez's 5/30 TW kernel, I lost the ability to connect to wifi (when I try to turn the wifi slider to "on," it switches right back off). I cannot for the life of me get it to turn on.
I tried flashing back to the 5/27 kernel and I still can't get wifi to turn on. I also tried odin-ing back to stock, which has the same problem.
The odd thing is that I can still use wifi tethering, so I know the wifi can work. I just can't get the wifi settings to enable wifi anymore.
Just for fun, I flashed the AOKP rom and ktoonsez's 5/30 AOKP kernel, and wifi will work in that rom. I just can't get it to work in Touchwiz.
Any thoughts?
Make sure your baseband and build are the same, ex. baseband MDL, Build MDL.
If these 2 are different wifi will not enable.

Baseband and build are both the same: 1337UCUAMDL.
before you flash do a system wipe so you have a clean slate, then flash rom and kernel and see if that helps, also you may try resetting to default settings from within the os.

I wiped system and then odin-ed to stock and it still didn't work. I am not sure how much "cleaner" I could get it.
Hmm well, it seems like you did everything right, thats really strange.

Yeah. I would understand that wifi was totally dead if if didn't work in the AOKP rom, but it does, so I'm stumped. I may just go over to the AOKP rom since I don't really need the Touchwiz features anyway.
after you odin back to stock did you do a factory reset from within the OS?
1. Open Settings.
2. Select Accounts.
3. Select Back up and reset.
4. Tap Factory data reset.

Odd... My baseband is MDB and build is MDL. I thought baseband had nothing to do with kernels..

Oh ok... Maybe it was rom related and you probably needed a kernel to fix it (as it did for me).

I started having similar issues today with my WiFi.
Back story: I was playing around in ES Explorer trying to get WatchOn app to show in my app drawer and changed something that apparently shouldn't have and ended up sending my phone into boot loop. It also wouldn't recognize my SD card. After several faiked attempts due to my computer not recognizing my phone I was finally able to Odin to stock, re-root and restore from my Nandroid backup.
Which leads me to my problem. When I try to enable WiFi it just shuts back off and I get a security pop up saying, "Prevention Information - The device has detected an application attempting unpermitted actions and has stopped working. It is recommended that you reboot your device." And gives me an option to rabbit now or later.
After reading this thread I noticed that my baseband and build number were different and I will try doing a complete wipe and Odin to stock. Any other input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Maybe there is something wrong with the Kernel you are using. I don't know because I am on stock. However, the security message you are getting might be remedied by freezing "knox" and "SeAndoid". It probably wouldn't hurt for you to try it.

Just to update, I did a factory reset in CWM, reset davlik cache, factory reset from within setting and odin back to stock and wi-fi is working.
I'm about to re-root and not install the Nandroid backup and see if it's still working after that.
Final update.
I was able to get WiFi working again. Im not sure if doing this would help anyone else but this is what worked for me.
I did a wipe in CWM, cleared the cache and Odin back to stock. I then updated the software through the phone's setting menu. I tested WiFi before and after the update and it was working just fine.
Went ahead and rooted my phone again and WiFi was still working. Installed CWM again and tried the restore from my nan droid backup again and all is functioning normally.
On a side note, my 64GB SD card is working again also.

Which region? -- reboot into recovery and clear you cache/dalvik etc -- you could try grabbing the stock and reflashing it via Odin. (it won't hurt your knox etc )

So long as you do not have the HK Note (which since you have XME I assume you don't) the Polish version is fine, then yes you can switch to XME when it's freely available. At least by doing this, you can assess whether the phone is at fault or it's a hardware issue.

TQ for your advice. So, flashing to official polish rom and back will not void 'official' status or trigger knox? will it also wipe data in the phone?

Same here
I aave the Sprint version and installed a 4.4 ROM over 4.3 .Phone is now stuck in reboot loop . I've wiped everything (Along with factory reset)and installed latest CM ...no dice. I've tried to set persmissions again from TWPR ...no dice.
What can i do ? Again....Sprint version (N990P) updated to 4.4 so i can't go back to official 4.3 ( and no official rom for 4.4 yet ).
Please

Is yours Exynos or Snapdragon? -- You could try the N900 Russian 4.4.2 update, or the N9005 Polish update. Not entirely sure if they'll even work tbh -- you probably won't get any data though it'll be calls only until your official ROM comes out (unless the new updates have Sprint settings or you can manually set the APN)
EDIT: PS 4.3 baseband ROMS like CM won't work since you've update to 4.4 boot loader..

Had the same issue too. Upgraded OTA to Kit Kat and was stucked in reboot loop. Deleting cache partition in recovery mode and booting in safe mode doesn't help. I fixed it by resetting it to factory default in recovery mode. If u didn't back up for data beforehand, try removing the SIM before rebooting. It worked for me and it allowed me to back up via Kies before wiping it clean in recovery mode later

I have solved this bug by turning off the location service in connection settings
When the device boots i can access the settings before it reboots again and then make the handphone in airplane mode
Then after few minutes i can turn on the wifi
Then I turned off the location setting
Then turn off the airplane mode.
I cannot believe that samsung let the update goes to its users with such a big error.
N9005 (Malaysia) stock (not rooted)
Hi,
I have a GT-I9505 and I had 4.3 installed. Then I installed SlimKat/SlimBean 4.4.2 (based on KitKat). I didn't like it and installed the Dutch 4.4.2 from SamMobile (stock ROM).
No problems with flashing through Odin (it was 2,33GB) but at setup I need to enable WiFi, when I press or drag the on-toggle it goes to off automatically after pressing pressing on. It doesn't show any WiFi network, but I see my 3G icon that's working.
What can the problem be, and how to enable WiFi at setup?
At Odin I saw it installed the modem.
Regards,
Michael

I did a full wipe (System, Data, Dalvik Cache, and Cache) before flashing the stock one. So the installation started 'clean' I guess.
I found the guide to install Lollipop onto the S4 and decided to try. I had backed up everything with Titanium app, then backed up everything with Safestrap before continuing. I did a factory reset in SafeStrap but then also formatted /system..my phone rebooted and is now stuck in a boot loop with no SafeStrap screen.
Went into recovery mode and did another Factory Reset, this stopped the boot loop but now it is frozen at Galaxy S4 screen, I'm guessing because there's absolutely nothing there for the phone to boot into.
I am now trying to flash stock Kitkat using Odin but now I've come across another problem.
Booting the phone into download mode does not work either. I have tried two laptops, one of them worked with Odin before this mixup so the drivers are fine. Neither laptops detect the phone, so Odin never finds it for me to flash the stock rom.
Recovery mode is the same thing, the laptop never detects the phone for adb to work.
One odd thing is that when the phone is plugged in the phone is stuck at the empty battery with the loading circle but the circle is frozen. It never moves past this screen to the battery that shows the charge percentage.
Is there anything I can download to fix this problem using revovery's "apply update from external storage"?
My phone is SGH-i337 and before I messed everything up it was on 4.3 MK2. The only option I have is to use the Android Recovery. Where is the MK2 rom that I can flash using the recovery?
It should work. Wiping /system is unrelated to download mode.
- Different usb cable
- Different usb port
- Reinstall drivers
- Different pc
- Run Odin as admin
Run ODIN As an Admin it'll work
Thanks guys. As it turned out, two of my cables only charged and didn't have a data connection. The third was actually found by my PC. Flashed 4.4.2 onto it and have so many problems I want to go back to 4.3
I have a safestrap backup of my 4.3. Can I restore that backup without any complications since I am now on 4.4.2?

My main problem is that when I enable/disable wifi my phone freezes for 2 to 3 minutes and it never saves my network for auto connect. I have to input my WPA password every time. I've deleted wpa_supplicant.conf in both /system/etc/wifi and /data/misc/wifi like guides have stated but I still have the issues.
Also a few of my apps stop working randomly (opens, begins to load, then closes) and I need to uninstall/reinstall in order for them to work again.
A lot of apps like Transparent Weather Clock don't save my settings and go back to default after a few minutes.
I thought this was a permission problem but I did the "fix permissions" in safestrap and the problems are still here..
