Hello!!
Has anyone extracted the modem yet? I'm currently on CM11 and it would be nice to have the modem from the latest update that I can flash in recovery.
Thank a lot!

Here are my custom CWM recovery OTA updates for the international S3
NOTE: For STOCK Rom users only. Your CSC must be I9300OXABLG6. If you have made any changes to files in the /system folder it will fail.
If like me your using a stock ROM rooted with custom recovery or kernel and want to update without downloading the whole ROM and risk losing root and recovery in the process. These modded updates are for you to save time, bandwith and frustration.
Current OTA update: XXBLG6 to XXBLG8
ota.update.all.XXBLG8.zip 4 MB
ota.update.no.modem.XXBLG8.zip 4 MB
ota.update.no.kernel.XXBLG8.zip 542 KB
ota.update.no.kernel.and.modem.XXBLG8.zip 541 KB
All the zips here will not replace your custom recovery or remove root. The no kernel and no modem zips are intended for users with a custom kernel and or want to keep their current baseband.
Tested and working on CWM 6.0.1.0 Touch and Chainfire's CWM 5.5.0.4
If you've got the OTA update notification nag, to get rid of it do this:
1. Using a file explorer with root permissions, I use ES. Go to /cache/fota ,In there will be the update.zip
2. Delete it or move it to your sd card.
3. Bring up the updater from the notifications and press install and OK, it should fail.
4. Notification nag gone.
Older OTA updates:
Austria (T-Mobile)
ota.update.XXALE8-XXBLFB.CSC-MAXLF2.zip 72 MB
ota.update.no.kernel.XXALE8-XXBLFB.CSC-MAXLF2.zip 67 MB
If you have got any older OTA updates, could you make them available for download so I can convert them.
Nice work mate, I'm sure a lot of people will find this very useful.

+1 very well done. People who have not recieved ota or for some reason are still on lg6 like me will love it
Could you help converting other OTA updates as well? I got a I9300XXALE8 and an OTA update of I9300XXBLFB,
Do I need a full wipe to flash them?
Thanks.

Upload it somewhere and put the link here and I will see what I can do. Use a root explorer to copy it to your sd card. Its in '/cache/fota'
Thanks so much, I'm gonna do it ASAP and send you the link.

Sorry that it didnt work for you guys. Your CSC must be I9300OXABLG6 and you must be on stock XXBLG6 for it to update. If you've got a branded phone it won't work either. What errors was it showing in CWM?

This is a recovery update. It only patches existing files. You must flash it in clockworkmod recovery.

What do you think, will this method work if Samsung releases Android 4.1 for the S3?
Thanks again.

Glad to help. I'm just giving back what I've taken and learnt. If they release it as a ota then it should be possible. We'll have to see.

Its in the '/cache/recovery' folder. That status 7 error means it failed the assert test for the model fingerprint I believe. You can only flash this update on a XXBLG6 rom and your CSC must be I9300OXABLG6. To check what ROM and CSC your using, do this.
1. Open your keypad dialer
2. Press *#1234#
3. It should show your ROM and CSC. AP = ROM and CP = Baseband.

No, once you flash 4.4 you cannot go back to 4.3 firmware or roms. Only the SM-N900W8 can do that. Btw, it's not a stupid question, better safe than sorry.

Hmm, there might be something there - in the international Note there is N900W8 which DOES allow 4.4 -> 4.3 and I think I might have seen one of the major US versions with a claim of letting a downgrade 4.4 -> 4.3 but I can't say which one, you will have to look in the AT&T forum to be certain.

Yes when i tried and installed an app which is done after root like root explorer i tried to back it up but it was unable to get into the efs folder gave me a msg which told me u must purchase it i couldn't back up it anyways dammit
LiL_Assassin said:
Use a thing called ktool. Back up your efs. Transfer both of your back ups. And name them different things so you can tell the difference of your current back up and the one the ROM backed up. And use it to restore the one your ROM backed up then

Hello,
Once your bootloader is updated you can't downgrade it. A major-version baseband requires the updated bootloader.
Look here.
I read that after u flash back stock kitkat u have to flash the lollipop modem as well but in AP.and u`ll be good
