My AT&T LG G2 is rooted and has the stock recovery and stock ROM and I don't have Xposed installed. I'm curious if anybody else with the same setup has updated to 4.4 successfully with no brick. Thanks in advance for sharing.

No It will NOT WORK. I just Flashed back to stock (Flashing Tool.. I know its a Pain and loose all your data) , Chat with AT&T to push 10q and KITKAT (if youre lucky, and if you Don't need root for time being and can wait for someone to make Kitkat root).
Or someone in another thread says.. Once you're on 10q , Root it and update to kitkat manual way and Root sticks. (but your mileage varies)
for me.. I got a great Rep on At&t side.. who pushed the 10q and waited till I updated and then Pushed the Kitkat.. Almost half hour + still this was her last statement on chat. sometimes at&T amazes me.

Restore to the stock image using the LG flash tool (removes root). Then go online and get them to push the updates. Did it earlier today. There's a video on youtube from rootjunky that will walk you through the restore.
Have to update to Q root then get them to push C (KitKat) I went back to stock rooted that's what I did now I'm on KitKat with root no problem

Hi guys, my gf has a new Verizon LG G2 which keeps trying to install some update... I haven't rooted it or anything (yet!) and I was wondering if I should not accept the update in fear of not being able to go back and root. Trouble is it pops up every day and forces you to pick a time to install it!
Currently running 4.2.2 baseband vs98010b, build jdq39b, software vs98010b
thanks for the help!

Accept the update. Root still works. Is this the only ota you have received. If you root first it goes into recovery bootloop if you do it when rooted.

I used the LG Mobile Support tool while rooted because the update failed otherwise. After getting the update I no longer have root. I'm happy with this update, it added a few small things and corrected an issue with the touch screen behaving erratically. I haven't tried to re-root it and I haven't bothered with any custom recoveries since this update.

I was rooted - stock recovery took the B OTA and didn't loose root mine also didn't wipe. Ive checked and my Verizon g2 does indeed say it has the new B update on it.
12b and no custom recovery
if you are still on 11a, use ioroot to root your phone and then install a recovery afterwards.
if you update to 12b you can still root it, but for now you wont get a custom recovery to install.
that should change today or shortly i would guess, but if your gonna flash roms your better off doing it now in 11a and skipping 12b.
just a heads up and info share. enjoy

I've been wondering if i should accept the new update, thought i heard somewhere that it included a patch to relock the bootloader or something, & I'm planning on rooting mine (vs98011a). Sounds like its a worthwhile upgrade tho..my screen gets just a tiny bit glitchy sometimes. Guess I'll go ahead & take it then, thanx for the heads up. As long as i can root it still after I'm good...?
Boatloader had always been locked. There is just currently no working recovery/loki with the current update. If you plan on flashing/heavy modding, don't take it. You can still root.
Edit: Apparently, Freegee now works to flash recovery on 12B.

10-4, well thanx for the heads up bro. I ended taking the update & I'm glad i did cuz it fixed the screen glitch. I'm gonna root as soon as i can get to a decent computer. Idk anything about freegee....I'll have to look into it. Well hey, i appreciate the info man looks like i have some research to keep me busy for a min. Thanx again! Btw...I'm lovin this phone, its a totally underestimated beast. Any tips on a good rom aosp/stock would both be good to know about. Heard OSE had one for this phone maybe & i loved ose on my s3.
I've tried this two times and both I had the same result. I downgraded back to 4.2.2 with the D80110g_00.kdz for the tmobile g2. Then I rerooted it and added philz touch recovery. I flashed with the kitkat baseband in the cloudystock 1.1 fourm, then the rom with the patched 801 kernel after. Everything boot's up ok, and the phone works. But when I turn off the screen and back on its all grayed out with yellow lines. I have the reboot the phone for the screen to show up again. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Do the same process except do not use 80110g. Find the 80110c kdz.

Doesn't seem like you are flashing in wrong order. If you boot up and everything runs...it's probably just due to the fact this isn't an official release and there may be bugs

same issue here. Cannot run any stock KK roms at all. I've flashed so many times and have had to return to stock. I wish this problem could be identified.
Did anyone out there figure this out?
I'm having the same problem on my device, tried several stock ROMs but nothing works even when using different basebands.
I have this problem as well and no, you're not doing anything wrong. Devs have absolutely no idea why this is happening. It seems that this is only happening with users that bought the phone and have the G build pre-installed. People that bought the phone earlier with the C build don't have this problem.
I gave up and just flashed the official KK TMO ROM with root installed. I lost my recovery but hopefully devs can get recovery on stock KK. If anything, I can always KDZ back to 4.2.2 and re-install the recovery if I want to go back to AOSP ROM's.
FWIW, I bought the G2 a week ago. When did you get yours?
I think you hit the nail on the head with G build comment. I got my phone about a month ago from TMO and it came pre-installed. I wonder if something in the actual hardware is ever so slightly different with the latest G2s...
I flashed with the C build and it didn't fix it also, guess I'll stay on 4.2.2 till there is a official kitkat root.
Anyone around in this thread with the line problem willing to test a kernel?

How do you find if you have G or C build? I thought all tmobile g2's are c build. I am getting mine tomorrow, hope it is shipped with JB rom - if so, i think it will be better to stay. After reading a bit, i heard many say tot method is working fine as explained here.
Which rom (xd thread?) are you using? Does wifi calling work?

If you go to software you can see the build, it either ends with C or D. Most likely D since you'll just be getting it. And it will be JB not KK. There's a new AutoRec file that gives KK users recovery, but since you'll be getting the D version, you'll most likely have the white line glitch issue. There's a way around it, just PM me for further questions and I'll help ya out.

It does seem confusing, but I promise you that it's a bit more painless than you think. I'm assuming your phone did indeed ship with TMO KitKat? Then in that case, once you're done rooting, all you have to do is install the AutoRec apk and that's it! Let me know if you need a link for AutoRec.

No. But it looks like you flashed a borked file. Maybe the CM you installed has a wrong MD5, or you might have flashed a CM that's for a different G2. Either way, you can either push a new ROM zip into your phone to flash, or KDZ back to stock like the guy above me said. Good luck!
And don't worry, your phone is completely fine. But this should be a lesson to always perform a backup before ANY ROM flashing.

What I'd like to know is how did you get CWM in the first place? I've tried for a couple of hours with ROM Manager and the D802 is not supported even though it claims it is. All I get is the red triangle on top of the green android bot and what looks like 2.x CWM. Not sure since I'm new. But it only has about 5 options. No MOUNT, NO ADVANCED, Looks unsuitable for flashing a ROM. I saw this version the very first time I flashed a phone and I soft bricked the phone. It was a Nexus 4. I recovered but I'm not taking any chances and messing with that again. The only way I recovered was using Wugfresh. I need something like Wugfresh for my D802 where I can take those risk. I'm angry because I can't flash anything now. I've got 327 apps to get installed. No one wants to do that manually. It is really inconceivable that this phone which is still arguably the best in the world after 6 months is not supported the way it should be with recovery. Any help in getting CWM working would be greatly appreciated.

That won't work because you can't even get to the menus to install the zip. That the whole problem. You can't really do anything because it basically hangs up with the red triangle. With the number of people having this problem and how great a phone this is you'd figure this problem would not even exist. Here's a screen shot of the problem everybody is having.

Yeah I made the foolish mistake of upgrading to kitkat. I knew it as soon as I hit yes button to upgrade. Too late.

I'm new so don't know much. My understanding is you can't flash anything without being in recovery, right? Look at busted25's post. I'm not risking anything that is not concrete. Much as I like to tinker around I accomplish nothing if I end up with a brick. On my Nexus I could risk everything and because I had Wugfresh. No such thing. I'm going to look at he LG software suite and see if can backup the phone enough to restore it should i soft brick or something

Well that's why you can't get recovery, kit Kat does not have ability for recovery and who knows if it ever will

What?! Are you sure about that? If true that is really foul. What, do they think we are Apple fans or something? If we didn't want recovery we would have bought Apple. I hope that is not true. Why would they do such think knowing you can't flash if you they do that. I'm addicted to custom roms...LOL! I need my fix now!!

Well the exploit we were using to install recovery/Loki was patched in kk so currently if you want recovery it's the same procedure for all devices downgrade to 4.2(first firmware available) root install recovery and depending on your device I can link you a modified kk that uses the aboot from 4.2 plus modified kk kernel to boot to kk while retaining root/recovery

I don't know if I have the skills to pull that off. I could wind up like busted25 and all the others who bricked. I think my best option might be to sell it very cheap quickly and order a new one and never upgrade. I'll take the hit. Phone is less than a week old. One thing I'm not understanding though is I'm seeing only kitkat custom roms for this phone out there. That's why I thought it was ok to upgrade. I didn't see any 4.2.2. Everybody who flashed the custom roms must have been fairly or very skilled. One thing that made me upset is ROM Manager advertised recovery for this phone that was bogus. I even paid for the touch version and got nothing and no email reply
hey everyone, Im a newbie when It comes to roms and flashing, I currently have clockwork mod and stock 4.4.4 and wanted to ask will I get the official lollipop? Even if I have clockwork mod? But stock KitKat? Thank you for reading

as far as i know, and that can be wrong, if your android is untouched (no root or anything else (like xposes framwork)) you will get the update over the air.
BUT if you don't there are factory images that you can download and flash your phone quite easily
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312
or a toolkit to do it automatically
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312
i would recommend to do it with the first method. if something goes wrong you will know what is it and you can ask for help. with the toolkit if something goes wrong things are more complicated to find the error.
P.S. if you decide installing the factory images via console (first option), it is highly recommended to read the entire process first and after do the procedure.
My phone is rooted, but i dont have any custom ROMs or framework , will this affect it? Or when I get the update my root will simply be gone?

You'll lose root and the custom recovery with the ota. But if you haven't modified / deleted any system files you should get the ota.

I've searched some threads and some said you don't get ota if you have clockwork mod (I have it) and I really don't know what to do...should I go back to stock? I'm not good with that stuff and afraid I will brick it, any ideas or advice?

You should be ok. If you're really worried about cwm you could flash the stock recovery image in fastboot. But I wouldn't unless the ota fails, which it shouldn't

Thank you one more question, will I still get ota notification ? As in, it might fail but will I still receive like I would normally?

I think you'll see it in the next couple of weeks, not today. The n4 may be even longer

Alright, thank you again for clearing things up!
It's also worth noting that Google pushes update at different times depending on which area you live in, so even if you read on the news that Lollypop is released on the Nexus 4, it may take a while for your phone to receive the OTA.
Personally, I advice you to install TWRP recovery, its safe and easy to install kernels and roms
