Hi all,
I noticed in my N9005 internal memory(system) became small/shrink after i flashed stock rom coming from cm11. Internal memory itself its fine because i still have free space 25gb from 32gb but when i used root file manager (root explorer) to copy apk to system/app its failed.
Btw, i also noticed my phone have 3 folder that have same app and file like sdcardO and under folder emulated there are folder O and legacy. How can i increase this system memory?. Please see the attached pic and thanks.
This is a partition, its only 2GB of size, which is normal.

hi all,
can someone upload a backup of internal sd card i.e. all the files in that are located in my files -> all files
if your storage is very big leave the android folder.
I formatted /sdcard and lost all s note templates and samsung ringtones and pics which I used as wallpaper.
Upgrading via kies restored everything

Using SD maid if found where the heck all my storage was going. Under /storage/emulated the folders /legacy and /0 are exactly the same with all the same stuff in it. Is there 2 of everything in my internal SD? Can I delete one of these folders? I attached a screenshot

For giggles I deleted one. The folder was still there but empty and the other folder is also empty. I'm thinking they are the same just shown twice with different names. Not actually duplicate.

Hmm okay damn. Trying to figure out where this space is going because all I really have is a couple things in the downloads folder and thats it. Another screenshot of my storage in settings kinda further backs my idea

Have you done any nandroid backups?

They are not duplicate files... The files are only stored in one location, but each folder has a "link" to them...
Sorta like your computer and creating "shortcuts"
That's all well and good, but...

...even Android's storage manager can't get it right:
Phone:
mako 16GB
rev_11
MAKOZ10o
M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1700.48
Secure Boot - enabled
Lock State - unlocked
Rooted with (an otherwise) stock ROM (4.2.2 OTA) and Clockwork Mod Touch 6.0.2.3.
I have found four places seeming to be my SD storage:
/sdcard
/storage/sdcard0
/storage/emulated/0
/storage/emulated/legacy
I've attached other screenshots showing how File Expert HD and DiskView treat my storage. CWM 6.0.2.3 also "misinterprets" my storage situation so I can't make more than 2 backups, and if I have 2 then I struggle for space for downloads and apps. I really wouldn't care about this if apps understood it - it makes you wonder how it managed to get released when not only do no apps support it, but Android's own system gets confused!
I've seen posts talk about merging all SD data with /data/media/0 but on my phone (using both File Expert and the new File Expert HD) that's showing up as a file not a folder. Seriously, how do I sort this out? Which is the real folder, why are the other three there, how do I disable this silly "shortcut" thing that's destroying my phone's storage?
Did you guys make any nandroid backup on the SD cards?

Yeah, what originally alerted me to the space issue was when I went to make my second nandroid since installing the 4.2.2 OTA. I made one before and one after the update, then went to make a third in order to have a recent backup before trying to flash the Ubuntu Touch Dev preview but the nandroid failed due to insufficient storage space.

This should explain the "missing" storage. Since you made two nandroid backups and you have quite a lot of apps installed (2.89GB), this will take at least 6 GB of space.
Edit: Nandroid backups don't show on the android storage view.

At the time of taking the screenshots in my first post, I only have one nandroid in order to keep a decent amount of free space. The fact that CWM is also misinterpreting the storage makes me think it's backing up all 4 locations, which means that my nandroid is stupidly big. That coupled with all apps mistaking the 3 mirror locations as actual files results in a huge loss of potential storage space as apps think the device is full when it really isn't.
I should probably also mention that Windows reports the same free/used space numbers as File Expert HD.
All your internal data lies within /data/media/
The contents within that is usually what is visible to the user on a TW ROM. Once you switch to an AOSP ROM a second partition is created in /storage/emulated/0. This is your actual internal memory. Any previous downloads or backups made before installing an AOSP ROM will be located in /data/media/ since that was it's original directory. You can still view the "0" folder in /data/media/ but all your downloads, backups, etc, will be directed to /storage/emulated/0/ by default.

I don't understand what you mean by a "TW ROM" but I haven't changed ROM. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted, but other than a few quick plays with Ubuntu Touch I'm still using the stock ROM (which I return to from Ubuntu via restoring a CWM nandroid). I haven't flashed any Android ROMs at all.
I didn't have the phone long before I got the 4.2.2 OTA update and I didn't check the folder structure before then, but I didn't notice any suspiciously fast drops in free space until after said update.

Can you use a file explorer with root access and check how big is this folder? /data/media/clockworkmod/backup
File Expert and File Expert HD both see it as a file... What app should I use?

Install ES File Explorer, then follow the instructions on this post
Going to have to count up the folder size manually, will do it later and report back because I need to get ready for work now.

you know that the "Real" folders are in "mnt/shell/emulated"?^^
There you also see the clockworkmod folder and check it's size.

Folder mount should work for you if your rooted, does a fine job.
I'm rooted & download foldermount. However I can't seem to find the files to mount to my ext memory.
Games like Candy Crush or Puzzle Trooper, I can't find any files in android/data or android/obb (this folder is totally empty). What should I do?
I Have downloaded file manager to view my system files but I can't seem to mount the apk from data/app in the / memory.
Need help.
Thanks!
Hi, download foldermount and open files from the app by pressing the plus sign to add files and enjoy

For games like Real Football or some other gameloft games that are usually huge in size like above 500mb for the apk, how does foldermount help me with the memory other than only move the data from internal memory android/data or android/obb?
If I use a file manager, I found the apk in /data/data on the phone memory instead & the com.data files etc on /data/app lib.
Anybody knows what I should do with such apps?
Thanks.
That's why you use FolderMount, basically all the huge data is moved to SD card and Android is being fooled to thinking that the data is still on the internal memory. After doing this it looks a little bit strange in Storage info in Settings, as for example my phone has: Total space: around 9GB, Used space: 13GB, Free space: 6GB. I instaled multiple heavy games and all their data is stored on the SD card, you just need to specify which data you want to move.
Edit: Sorry I didn't fully understand your post. You meant that the actuall apk file is of a huge size, I don't think that Folder Mount will help in this situation, as you can only mount folders from the /mnt/sdcard folder. But to be honest all of the games I have store data in either /mnt/sdcard/Android/data or obb folder, and I believe that most games on the Marketplace do the same.

Exactly, all gameloft and ea games are stored in obb or data so FolderMount does wonders. I bought the pro version and it gets the job done.

Ive been fooling around with my phone, by that i mean rooting and such. But really recently ive noticed that my internal storage is almost completely full no matter if i factory reset my phone and wipe all caches. The sizes don't even add up, the biggest thing is clockwerk recovery at 2gb but somehow there is another 7gb of something that i can't see. Is there files hidden somewhere that are causing this huge usage of space?
HELP
Use ES file explorer, enable to show hidden files. That should answer your question.

Use clean master from the play store, it will detect what is not needed and ask if you want to delete it.

even that doesn't help there is still 80% of storage taken up by something, could my CWM backups somehow be ending up on my internal storage instead of my SD because it seems that way
Use es file explorer to move any important files from internal storage to external storage (like cwm backups or photos) then wipe internal storage. After that you should have about 9 GB free on your 16 GB s4.

The nandroid backups were what was causing the huge space problems, I moved them to my sdcard and deleted them off my internal sdcard and I now have all my space back.
I'm looking for an app that will work with me phone (s4 jftle cm11 ktoonsez) that I can link a folder from my main memory to my sdcard (eg modern combat 4 obb folder is 2 gigs alone) and move the files to my external SD card (sdcard1) while the app still "thinks" the files are on the internal original folder. Amy suggestions? I tried folder mount but it just made a copy of my files and the apps never worked if I deleted the original files.
