Is the mja Knox-free?
If it's yes....could I flash it alone without flashing whole stock mja .tar file?
I have mf9 bootloader at the moment.

It has KNOX. And I am not sure what flashing it alone would get you anyway.

I have the latest MJA, rooted, with KNOX tripped, most of the TW ROMs I see on our GS4 section says (MK2) does that mean I wouldn't be able to flash them on my device knowing that I'm MJA?, or is the label just written as that to say that its a 4.3 ROM without the KNOX boot loader?, orrrrrr I don't know, im confused on this whole KNOX thing

You can flash those Roms because when you wipe your phone you essentially wipe the MJA firmware and install MK2.

Not quite. You erase the MJA SOFTWARE when you flash a MK2 ROM. To change the FIRMWARE to MK2 would require the use of Odin.

confused software with firmware. my bad. I know what I'm saying though.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
So that won't mess with anything that has to do with KNOX correct?

If you've already tripped the Knox counter, whatever you do now will have no effect on it.

I wanted to know how do i go back to the sprint stock rom after i flashed a 4.4.2 Rom?
Are you saying that you updated to NAE, rooted, and now trying to unroot? If so I don't know of any way to do it since there is no tar for NAE yet.

Im not sure what NAE is but the rom I have is Octo-Kat from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2493128 any info is greatly appreicated.
NAE is the new 4.4.2 TOUCHWIZ update that just came out for the phone. That's what I thought you meant. To go back to stock, if you mean stock unroofed. It would depend on what version of touchwiz you were on before. If you were on 4.2 then Odin a 4.2 tar. If you were on 4.3 with Knox then Odin MK2 kernel.

Thank you I will try it out.
I am running stock AT&T 4.2.2 MF3 rooted with Motochopper, I believe.
An OTA downloaded on my device today, NC1 I guess? I knew I couldn't install it because either it would fail after detecting root, or I would potentially brick.
I wanted to update to stock NB1 or NC1 (maintaining or re-establishing root afterward).
The MF3 update threads I have found seem outdated.
Please let me know what the safest way to flash the latest stock that is rootable.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, Sixftsix, I am in the same boat as you. MF3 rooted wanting to upgrade to NC1. Did it successfully work for you? The files say NB1 to NC1 not MF3 to NC1 so I was just wondering if it worked. Also what version of Safestrap did you use?
Thank you very much!

I haven't upgraded yet, I'm still confused on what is the proper/safest method.
I am not sure if we have to go from MF3 > MK2 > NB1 > NC1... or if we can go directly to NB1 with this: "NB1 STOCK -- Get to NB1 Stock from NB1 or earlier... I337UCUFNB1 4.4 Stock Odin Tar & System Dump", then use the NB1 to NC1 method.
Let me know if you attempt anything and the results, I will do the same. I did lot of reading with no clear answers.
If anyone can confirm the best method, I would appreciate your help!

Apparently you need to upgrade to MK2, root, then do MK2 to NB1, and then NB1 to NC1. Its a process. I think I'll just stick with 4.2.2 until a root method is available for KitKat then I'll just upgrade to KitKat instead of flashing because I always have bad luck when it comes to soft modding...
Good luck.

If you want NB1, you can flash straight to it with the ODIN package. If you want root, you can flash to either MK2 or NB1 but going to NB1 adds in the downgrade steps.

Thank you! One question. I use Linux so I wouldn't be using ODIN I would be flashing with Heimdall. Same thing right?

Slightly different. You'll have to extract the partitions to flash from the ODIN file since it doesn't work with ODIN packages directly. Alternatively, you could try JODIN3.
Can I use 4.2.2 stock rom (From qbkings walk through) if the phone has 4.3 rom on it?
No you cannot because you cannot downgrade via Odin. Use MK2 tar to unroot.

I am running Negalite ROM and just recently updated my firmware to NAE using Odin, and now my signal is terrible, the data keeps cutting out. Is it possible to flash back to MJA using Odin, or can you not rollback? Or is there some update or change I can make to the APN or something to fix it? Thank you for any help you can provide.
Only modem is reversible via Odin. Anything else is NOT possible.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Thanks, does that mean I can flash the MJA or MK2 modem from post 2 in this thread and it should rollback fine? Thanks again.

The NAE modem package is not complete. If you skipped over MK2, you need to go back and flash it, then flash NAE on top of it. Otherwise, your reception will misbehave.
