Question about system update - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I am rooted running Stock ish rom v1 and this morning woke up to system update downloaded, touch to install. Is this the 4.4 kit kat upgrade? Any way to get rid of the prompt. I plan on updating to stock ish rom v6. Will this remove the prompt?

4.1.57 ota is live- OP UPDATED with directioin for root

i just connected to a wifi... went to settings, system update, and the msg DOWNLOAD came up....its doing it as i type!
UPDATE: OTA is LIVE....... AND THERE IS A ROOT FOR IT
you have to flash the 4.1.26 SBF file
root with super one click
reboot phone
enable sideloading...click allow on your phone ( su menu)
reboot
run aROOT
reboot
then go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12525890#post12525890
download the script
run the " beforeupdate script...do what it says,
after its done... run the update, install it, reboot it
when its rebooted, wait about 3 minutes + and make sure debugging is still on
then run afterupdate
and run the command via ADB
reboot... and BAM... 4.1.57 sideloaded and ROOTED
I would install it, but i don't feel it's worth losing root/mods over.
Thanks also got download message when connecting to WIFI.
That's weird I've been on wifi all day and haven't seen a thing. I won't do it either way, I like ginger blur RC1.

You have to go to settings >about phone>System Updates to force the message ... I know you said you dont want it anyways but just in case someone else was wandering...
Also, I was really getting annoyed with the fingerprint scanner but I have to say the update did it wonders so far.
It's easy to block the update if you don't want to lose root and also want to get rid of the annoying messages.
Just rename the otacerts.zip and cacerts.bks certs in system/etc/security.
The update will download (you must let it download), but fail the auth check and not install.
This also turns off the reminder notifications.
Easily reversible if you want to get updates later.
my phone keeps telling me I am up to date. I haven't gotten the message yet.
How long is the update supposed to take? I've been staring at the triangle "!" sign next to little green Android dude for a while now.
Edit: Disregard.. Pressing a key took me to the recovery menu, where it said signature verification failed. Hmm.
I have a feeling the patch doesn't like what I've done with TiBu.. Defrosting all frozen bloat then trying again.

tap the lower right hand corner of the screen, should display text/options
the reboot after the update takes some time. I thought the phone locked up/froze on me but nope it just takes it sweet time on first boot up after the update.

There may be a problem with mine. The update downloads fine, but when it goes into recovery, it fails signature check. Phone boots up and works just fine upon reboot. I'm gonna redownload and try again.

mine is failing on /system/app/DockProvider.apk
Updated !
I updated mine some minutes ago, and for the first time, I saw the Edge icon (E) on the status bar .
I changed the setting on the 4636 menu and H+ is here again .

that's just the signal where you are. E has always been there.

Same, I'm doing a factory reset, then will apply the update and see what happens. Will advise.
I tried to force an Edge connection before using 4636 but no option worked....
It works now. I supose this is one of those "minor bug fixes".

Samsung Epic 4G with deodexed EI22...Please Help

Im presently running deodexed EI22 with EL30 modem. Its been running fine, but Im getting the OTA EL30 update. I let it download the first time, but when it tried to install, the screen stayed on a white triangle with a exclamation point inside with a blue android standing just to the lower right of the triangle. What does that mean? I thought you could not get OTA updated if your rooted. whats up? Can I get EL30 to work this way? Luckily for me I had backup my previous setting and it just went right back, but again the update showed and choose the update later button. Whats up? Any ideas? How can I get it to work or will it ever work? Help me please. Thanks.
There are at least 3 other threads on this. It means you cannot get the update if you are rooted and changed anything. Just pull the battery and reboot. If it goes into CWM just reboot system. You won't be bothered with update notifications anymore. Just because you are rooted doesn't mean Sprint can't push a notification to you.

this is getting annoying
every time I turn on background data I get a EL30 update notification. Is there any way to block this?

If your rooted and on a custom rom just press install now... it will fail and send you to a screen with an exclamation point... now pull battery and reboot... if it sends you to cwm then reboot from there...

Goo manager not showing

I have liquid android on my phone and have been liking it. I keep getting alerted about an update for the rom I have which means i have goo manager on my phone however i have no icon anywhere so I'm not sure how to remedy this. Also when there is an update ready do i have to flash and wipe my whole phone again or does the update just fix any tweaks?
thanks,
Mike

I would try to reinstall Goomanager. Are you using a stock launcher?
I can't reinstall it because it thinks I already have it installed and the custom ROM has nova launcher on it
Maybe you have hidden the app in app drawer? Just click on the notification see what happens. Even if you dont install the rom you will get notified again that an update is available.
I am able to enter the app for the update but I can't do anything else. If I try to update the app will it wipe my phone?

Thanks for you reply... I assume that I can only manually flash these files after an update?

Have you tried turning it off, and leaving it off? I haven't used the delta system yet, but on my ROM/TWRP/phone, if I turn it off in recovery, then back into ROM and flash something that's not signed, the verification is still off and the flash succeeds.
... OR turn secure mode OFF.

zormij, do you know how to turn secure mode off? (I'm thinking you don't).
In System Updates hit the menu button.

Android 4.4.4 seen by OTA update on my GPE!

I have my AT&T HTC One converted to Google Play Edition since a while now, and I just saw the system update notification and see the 4.4.4 with just 17MB, I've downloaded and once it rebooted, something happened with the zip and cwm recovery, which gives me an error. I was too excited with the update to take note of the error, and since I rebooted again and check for a system update, it shows me my 4.4.3 as current.
I'm just notifying it.
I have no idea if this helps anyone.

OTA will fail on custom recovery. You should have flashed stock recovery and then took the OTA. Try erasing cache and flash stock recovery.

return to stock recovery, and see if you get the ota link,if you get, download and sideload it
or otherwise you need to wait till next batch of rollout (remember, google sends updates by baches till everyone gets)
or just flash it manually then in recovery !
http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/firmware/htc-one/m7_google/
Side load it with stock recovery. If stock HTC recovery doesn't have sideload, you can flash it from your internal SD. No need to wait for a notification.
