Im presently running deodexed EI22 with EL30 modem. Its been running fine, but Im getting the OTA EL30 update. I let it download the first time, but when it tried to install, the screen stayed on a white triangle with a exclamation point inside with a blue android standing just to the lower right of the triangle. What does that mean? I thought you could not get OTA updated if your rooted. whats up? Can I get EL30 to work this way? Luckily for me I had backup my previous setting and it just went right back, but again the update showed and choose the update later button. Whats up? Any ideas? How can I get it to work or will it ever work? Help me please. Thanks.
There are at least 3 other threads on this. It means you cannot get the update if you are rooted and changed anything. Just pull the battery and reboot. If it goes into CWM just reboot system. You won't be bothered with update notifications anymore. Just because you are rooted doesn't mean Sprint can't push a notification to you.

this is getting annoying
every time I turn on background data I get a EL30 update notification. Is there any way to block this?

If your rooted and on a custom rom just press install now... it will fail and send you to a screen with an exclamation point... now pull battery and reboot... if it sends you to cwm then reboot from there...

So I have Unrevoked3, and want to update OTA, I don't need root anymore.
However, when I update it goes to start the update, then I get a yellow triangle with an exclamation point and an android, it just sits there til I pull the battery.
I want to be sure this is just an issue with needing to unroot, and not something else.
If its just an unrooting issue, how do I unroot from Unrevoked3? All the unrooting topics I've found were for toast or simpleroot.

Btw, the RA is Clockwork recovery.

Pretty sure all you need to do is put the update on your SD card, flash it, and then you're done. You'll lose root, but it should work that way. YMMV and all that.
I'll try it when I get home, hopefully it'll work.

any word? I too am having the yellow triangle displayed on my screen when trying to install the OTA after doing Unrevoked 3
Nevermind, Im downloading now.
Im also downloading the 1.47 RUU incase I need to start from scratch, which Ive heard works with revoke.. Im just not sure how to reflash the stock recovery image and get rid of Clockwork Mod and Unrevoked.
I ran flash sdcard:update.zip and so far its updating with no issues, will wait for boot up to see if it took.
I think using the ruu is the only way to reset the recovery, anyway thats what I did and d/ling the OTA now.
Worked fine. Booted up took a bit, but Im used to that with all updates, Im now running Android 2.2
As a side, is the FroYo update supposed to wipe apps/settings? Mine werent.
well mine seemed to work, I didn't care about reseting so my process went like this..
completely stock+unrevoked3 root+clockworkmod
RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_release_CL195459.exe
OTA d/l and installed over 1.47
ota installed successfully
factory defaulted with 2.2 in place
Im running 2.2, but none of my settings were reset and all my apps are still there.
Does running this : RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_rele ase_CL195459.exe erase all of the phone's previous memory?

Yes.
It does not erase your sd card tho.
So unrevoked 3 users can't use the Froyo OTA update?
I just activated my girlfriend's phone and immediately it prompted for update, so I did. To my surprise it was not DL09, but instead EA28. So after some google searches I found this:
http://phandroid.com/2011/02/03/samsung-fascinates-ea28-update-coming-to-fix-emergency-calling-bug/
The site is basically right, they repackaged dl09 with the emergency calling bugfix and pushed it out with a new build number.
just got mine... I'm gonna have a seizure in a public place to test it out.
Does any one know if one click root will work with this update

It worked for me on DL09 and this isn't that much different so I'd say yes.

There is a thread on ODIN. Simple directions, I thought.

So how does one "Make instantaneous emergency calls from a locked device in a time of need"?

Just as a side note if your having to redo the phone from scratch make sure to put the pit file in the pit on odin otherwise the phone will not activate!

One Click root works just fine! Just completed root!
I believe I was able to root successfully but when I try to flash ClockwordMod, it doesn't seem to be working. ROM manager says its flashed and has the latest version, but when I boot into recovery it is definitely not ClockwordMod. I cannot do backups or choose a file from SD to install.

When you flash a new ROM it overwrites CWM, so you'll have to re-install it with Odin.
What is pit in general and why it is needed?

Update broke my phone!
I just saw a screen forcing the update upon my phone. I clicked "OK" but when the EA28 update installed itself on my phone, it locked my phone into a cycle of trying to install it again and again. The baseband version shows S:i500.04 V.EA28, the Build number shows SCH-I500.EA28, but the update keeps trying to install the update. It gives a Prompt to Install-Reboots Phone-Prompt to Install-Reboot Phone... I managed to get it to stop for a little while by scheduling a deferral of the update until tomorrow. Does anyone know how I can keep the update from trying to install?
Yeah I just went to ask if there is an update and it said yes. Afraid to update because who knows if it'll break root....

Why suggest people to mess with pit in odin? You do NOT need to do this. Geez, people make this mistake enough on their own. Pda, choose file, press start... thats it.

I managed to get my phone to stop rebooting every 3 minutes by ending the InnoPath Active Care process and clearing the cache. But when I woke up this morning, the phone was at the emergency recovery screen. It went into a cycle of rebooting that made it as far as media scanner. I got it to stop rebooting by turning ON wifi (I suppose that's because Active Care needs WiFi off to do an OTA). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop this "Feature" that is rebooting my phone?
You tried pulling the battery (soft reset) i presume? After that theres factory rest, then odin back to stock

i just connected to a wifi... went to settings, system update, and the msg DOWNLOAD came up....its doing it as i type!
UPDATE: OTA is LIVE....... AND THERE IS A ROOT FOR IT
you have to flash the 4.1.26 SBF file
root with super one click
reboot phone
enable sideloading...click allow on your phone ( su menu)
reboot
run aROOT
reboot
then go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12525890#post12525890
download the script
run the " beforeupdate script...do what it says,
after its done... run the update, install it, reboot it
when its rebooted, wait about 3 minutes + and make sure debugging is still on
then run afterupdate
and run the command via ADB
reboot... and BAM... 4.1.57 sideloaded and ROOTED
I would install it, but i don't feel it's worth losing root/mods over.
Thanks also got download message when connecting to WIFI.
That's weird I've been on wifi all day and haven't seen a thing. I won't do it either way, I like ginger blur RC1.

Yeah... I hope I don't get the message. For now. Waiting on root.
me too has received the update .... i dont see much change except for the change that screen turns off when plugged on to power source... i think most of changes are backend..

You have to go to settings >about phone>System Updates to force the message ... I know you said you dont want it anyways but just in case someone else was wandering...
Also, I was really getting annoyed with the fingerprint scanner but I have to say the update did it wonders so far.
It's easy to block the update if you don't want to lose root and also want to get rid of the annoying messages.
Just rename the otacerts.zip and cacerts.bks certs in system/etc/security.
The update will download (you must let it download), but fail the auth check and not install.
This also turns off the reminder notifications.
Easily reversible if you want to get updates later.
my phone keeps telling me I am up to date. I haven't gotten the message yet.
How long is the update supposed to take? I've been staring at the triangle "!" sign next to little green Android dude for a while now.
Edit: Disregard.. Pressing a key took me to the recovery menu, where it said signature verification failed. Hmm.
I have a feeling the patch doesn't like what I've done with TiBu.. Defrosting all frozen bloat then trying again.

tap the lower right hand corner of the screen, should display text/options
the reboot after the update takes some time. I thought the phone locked up/froze on me but nope it just takes it sweet time on first boot up after the update.

There may be a problem with mine. The update downloads fine, but when it goes into recovery, it fails signature check. Phone boots up and works just fine upon reboot. I'm gonna redownload and try again.

Updated !
I updated mine some minutes ago, and for the first time, I saw the Edge icon (E) on the status bar .
I changed the setting on the 4636 menu and H+ is here again .

Same, I'm doing a factory reset, then will apply the update and see what happens. Will advise.
I tried to force an Edge connection before using 4636 but no option worked....
It works now. I supose this is one of those "minor bug fixes".
I got the OTA update message for a while now.. and every time it requests permission to reboot to apply the update, I allowed it. Every time, it loaded clockwork. Right now, I took the microsd card out and now it's just hanging there with the android guy and the triangle with the exclamation point. Should I do it manually? Will that erase all me settings?
I would just odin to di18 and get the ota then root and go from there.

I dont want to install the update just yet. It's in my notification bar right now to be installed. But it wont let me swipe it away or dismiss it. How do I get it to go away?!? Thanks in advance....

Not sure if this will work, but try rebooting it. Why don't you want to install the update?
Let the battery drain until 15% then try to accept the update. it won't continue on low battery I think.. Or if youre rooted, backup one system for like email or something.. Back it up somewhere.. Then proceed, update will fail because you need all stock apps there.. Then put back the file after you reboot.. Update will be gone

You can't OP I've had this annoying thing for a week, got used to it, you're not taking LTE away from me Google, screw u
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
subxero123, I'm pretty sure the only reason you can't use LTE in 4.2.2 is the radio/modem. Install the update, then revert to an old radio.
I was going to to wait for LTE also, thats why I didnt want it. Also I'm rooted so it sounded like a hassle. been really lazy lately lol. Question though: If I get the OTA root keeper app, is all I have to do is go into the app and update through it? Will it wipe anything, and do I have to set up all my mods again. For example my launcher, custom icons, gestures, lightflow, etc.??? If its easy with that app I'll do it....
Did you make any sort of modifications?
If you didn't delete system apps or flash a custom kernel just flash the update.zip from here: http://android.clients.google.com/p...4.signed-occam-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.de8b8d10.zip. Thanks wrinklefree. More info at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848
After that you can flash the 4.2.1 radio firmware and you're set
