Hey, with all those out-dated guides I got a bit off track ;/
I've got motorolla defy red lense(in which i flashed mb526 cm10 a few months ago and it worked fine.. except phone goes blank when talking and nothing I do responds.. probably approxamity censor disfunctioning).. anyhow I tried flashing slimkat and it made my defy brick (phone stuck on M logo) , tried wiping cache and data through stock recovery no use, now I flashed following sbf DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-231_GR_SIGN_UCADEFYEMARAB1B80AA004.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNGIBRRTCEE_P022_A022_Service1FF.sbf
which ended up bricking my phone even harder D: (pushing the power button ends up showing bootloader and code corrupt battely low can't program message) [which probably means I flashed an irrelevant sbf with cg not compatible with my phone)
my bootloader is 9.10
oh and I have this nandroid backup back when I had stock rom (but can't recover it since I can't go on custom recovery)
any help would be appreciated!
in the meantime I charge the phone, I guess the idea is to flash the relevant sbf with relevant cg but how can I find one, and is the country of the sbf really matters?
thanks.
edit - apperantly the phone can't be charged I don't know.. it's connected to the computer/wall for quite a time and nothing changes. I don't wanna do the mcgyver method and lose my usb cable for it ;/
considering I flashed an incompatible sbf, and when connecting to computer it shows white led (when wall it won't show it will automatically open bootlader with the error.. (err A5,69,4E,00,f1), the white led ensures me the battery is loading? how can I see progress ;/
I have galaxy ace plus with a LI battery 2.7v (same as the defy) but it's bigger, should I try connecting it or it can ruin things up?
BEFORE flashing (not flushing ) your phone you MUST read carefully the reference which you surely will find in the Defy area. ALL your question was mentioned and solved here. You DIDN'T have a bricked phone and with patience you could fix it. Have a nice lecture!

You DON'T need a USB to USBmini cable. Is sufficient USB to USB cable (~1EURO) at which you cut a jack.

I took my old mp3 cable and it worked even though I was sceptic. Anyhow my defy is noticeably slow now before flashing a Rom and after (slimkat) and my antutu dropped from 4990 to 4300

Did you overclock your phone before? Maybe your OC setting is now default. Im using [email protected] with slimkat 3.0 (dalvik) and it's very smooth and stable. Only don't remember my antutu score.

by overclock you mean just changing the frequency in settings? :x
maybe the rom I used (cyanogenmod) before came with default oc?
I think mine is now 1000mhz..
what governor should I choose?

Yes, the frequency settings in Aero Control or recovery. You can try to set 1200mhz if your Antutu score is important, but you should get much more points on default settings than 4300. I've got 4740 on the clean SlimKat 2.6.
The default governor (interactive) is recommended and works fine for me.

I don't care that much about antutu it's just that it's slower than before.. and antutu is a way to show it.. i guess.
maybe the 4900 antutu was a good day for the defy anyhow I'm glad I could "revive" it and fix the annoying problem with approxamity censor that was on cyangonmod.
Thanks alot for your help

Indroid was the 1st custom rom i flashed on my G3. Before this I was very new to all these. I am only waiting for a simple way to partition and use Indriod FSC then I will post in this thread some troubleshoot for newbies which I felt during Indroid ROM flashing. hope that will make life easier for those who want to flash it but worried about errors.
Can i overclock my indroid 4.2 ?? And are there some risks? will my telephone die?

Btw you can also reduce system sound with the volume key on the left side right? Doesn't that work?

you haven't partition'd yet?
Use minitool and partition your sd..I could make a video on using ext4 as data on indroid if you want me to?
I'd show from start in the video if you'll want it.
And Indroid FSC is used after making an ext partition on sd not before.

ok i will when i get time..
I installed indroid 4.2. Everything seems to work, except the gps and usb-connection.
It takes a very long time to get a fix on gps. When i finally get get a fix and i give a location in google navigation, it crashes.
About the usb-connection, the first time i connected to my pc, it worked. But after that, it doesn't work anymore. When i connect my sg3 to my pc, it thrils ones and that's it.
Any ideas?

as of now its just over clocked to 800Mhz so i recommended to stick with 667Mhz version ie standard version.

If you have updated the kernel to beta 3 then stick to it no need to reflash

Don't try it unless someone confirms you can. Do you have "black holes" in battery usage diagram?
what does the black holes mean? i had them in my old phone (samsung galaxy gio)
before i got my Defy because Gio had water damage
Those black spaces appear only when the phone is turned off, because the system cannot get battery statistics. This is what I was told.

I'm having this exact same problem. My battery has "gaps", it drops from 68%->49%, 30%->19% and 10%->4%. I've tried several ways of calibrating the battery with no luck. Is there any way to fix this?
Using Defy green lens with CM7.2, I was having this same issue with CM7.1, too.
EDIT: Having looked some more into this, it seems it's the battery that's dying, not ROM problem (I still can't post links, but the article I read was named "Why battery skips occur and how to fix them"). Thanks anyway!
Im having the same battery pattern, I've notice only after flash Eppys 16/04 and V6 supercharger... Strange so many phones presents the same problem...

Hi all,
I tried finding a corresponding thread, but couldn't.
Briefly, after flashing Burstlam's ICS remix, I overclocked the CPU to 806, keeping the smartassv2 gouvernor.
It was stable for half a day, then my screen flashed twice with pink sqares and some other mess - restart - and since then it behaves like a PC with missing graphics drivers.
Have I burnt some kind of coprocessor? Cuz no matter what I do(full wipe - reflash, left phone off over night with battery extracted, etc.), scrolling is now choppy as hell. At any frequency .
Pls advise if there is any chance to "fix" this.
Many THX in advance,
Robin
PS.: Maybe this could at least serve as a warning for others, do not risk with 806Mhz!!
806MHz is a risky overclock and should be reached in steps of lower frequencies. Userspace governor is usually used when overclock speeds of 806 are achieved. Best thing for you to do would be to 'Try' to make it stock and go for warranty. Looks like there's a serious issue with the phone.

Hi,
Thanks for the swift responses both. I'll give it a shot.
Any special hint as to how to hide the SU bin? Presumingly I'll just restore my initial backup, that will push back the original recovery image + unroot the machine..right?
Pls ignore if I'm too annoying
Thanks again,
Robin

the moment you flash a custom rom, you lose the stock kernel. every rom has its own kernel. if you dont like franco kernel, then just reflash your rom ti get the roms kernel back.

So what I actually need then is the kernel from paranoid android that I overwrote with Franko.
Oops, is this available on its own?
Ive found that since adding the franko, my benchmark scores have taken a huge dive. Mind you an turn turn does seem to throw up different results each time, is it a waste of time??

just reflash the rom(dont wipe anything), itll replace the kernel. or pull the boot.img from the rom and flash it via fastboot. if you want better benchmarks/performance, i recommend trinity kernel
Cheers Simms.
I did try trinity but also found that to take a benchmark dive. Now this doesn't sound right yo me which is why I'm starting to distrust an tu tu.
Also my battery life now is showing an expected 7 hours 4 mins, so god knows what going back to trinity would do lol.
I can only presume that the 'fully charged battery usually lasts' is buggered up because I've been using it all day whereas when I'm at work it doesn't take such a hammering.

the problem can be the method that you use to benchmark. the right way would be to make the highest cpu speed and lowest cpu speed the same, so that the device doesnt decide itself what speed to use, so it doesnt scale during benchmarking. for example, i bench at 1782mhz high/1782mhz low. also, i like ondemand/deadline with trinity, i disable heat throttling(since a throttled cpu lowers cpu speed), also i like to enable all four cores to be on.

Thanks Simms, downloaded & installed. I just don't like having sub 10gig on my phone. Got very used to iPhone with 32gig so less than 10 left feels kinda empty. Ideally I'd like to keep 2 ROMs (pa & rasbean, which I haven't used yet) & Franko & trinity, but doing this wont realy leave much dpace. Its a job getting my head round this non expandable low disk space business.
Hello , I wanted to install OzcanRom v6.3 Aroma So i did.. first i change the recovery to TWRP , all fine , flashed with odin , then tried to install the rom and worked but the phone was not starting , was staking at boot so i read on the forum that the recovery is the problem , so i change it again and used CWM and worked fine , phone opened , the rom is fine all working , but i noticed that the phone is not charging fast or not charging at all same times..
My first thought was that the cable or the micro USB port is damaged .. nop.. i changed cable and charger , also changed battery with one 100% new and nothing.. the problem remain.. So i was sure that the problem is software related and make again install on the rom , I follow the process with cleaning Dalvik cache etc and many times , Also removed the battery for 10 mins and also i tried to calibrate the battery , nothing worked.. I have install on my phone one app to check the battery stats and i saw that same times , even if charger is connected the phone does not receive the proper power or receive like 50 Ma per 1 hour... sometimes if i disconnect and reconnect the cable make the problem fixed , from 50 Ma goes over 500 so the phone charges..
Also i noticed that the CPU of the phone (under the camera ) gets too hot even if i dont use the phone at all , it happens only when charging and receiving low amount of Ma.. the max Ma i have seen is like 500 Ma per hour.. still very very low and phone takes forever to charge..
Can you help me fix this problem? My guess is that the problem is the kernel.. but not sure what kernel to use with this Rom and how to install it..
Any TouchWiz kitkat custom kernel should work.
The only other option may be to change to another ROM.

AOSP is what you find on Nexus devices.
All you need to know about it now is that you can't use that kernel on your Ozcan ROM.
Look for kernels that are labeled TW or TouchWiz.
...or you could get it to work by grabbing any TW-LL kernel and replacing the ramdisk with the KK one. But, there's no guarantee that it would work, plus you need some knowledge on doing this.
