It's a wifi issue. No known work-around at this point.

I would suggest that alot of folks might be experiencing this from a possible HW wifi defect. I have not had any on/off issue since I exchanged my first tab.....

Toggle the wifi off before you lock the screen and that should take care of the on/off problem.

I like to get my mails/notifications while the device is sleep ... if I were to do that workaround ( turning wifi OFF ) ... might as well turn the device OFF... why keep device in standby burning juice for nothing if you cannot have wifi/notifications function ? the main issue is we have a bug and it should be addressed accordingly by the manufacturer.
A boot up for me takes UNDER 25 seconds !
My wifi is just about always on. I have noticed this issue arise when I have not physically pressed the power button (or a shortcut to Lock Screen - a simple app that simulates the power button being pressed) to put the device to sleep. It never occurs when I manually put it to sleep, only when it is allowed to naturally go to sleep mode. I have attempted to adjust the time out period, but do not think any change has made this bug easier to reproduce accurately. It sometimes goes to sleep on it's own, it sometimes does not... It always goes to sleep when you tell it to.
Hi I am very confused.
I bought 2 different cases for my girls friends Galaxy S4. One is working but does not have the S-window. The other has S-window but does not have sleep and wake function.
My questions is: How does the sleep and wake function been activated on the phone? Is it similar to an iPad where there must be a little magnet on the case to activate the function or is it purely activated by sensors on the Galaxy S4? Or other ways? I noticed the S4 has plenty of new features that uses its internal sensor so I am thinking maybe the sleep and wake function was implemented automatically as long as you get a flip cover case.
Anyone know?

Yes sview is activated by magnet. The sensor is close to the volume down button but more at the back of phone than the side.
You need a reasonably strong magnet, I found that a fridge magnet wasn't strong enough. Need stronger one.
P.s. The title of thread isn't quite right should be more like "how is S-view activated"

Don't know where to place this question...
Does anyone know where the sensor is placed on the phone which make the phone wakeup and sleep when using the lid on viewcovers?
Hi,
Could you guys please help me out for Upside Down Camera & No Screen Rotation in my Grand 2.
After googling for a few hours, I found out the possible solution that I need to calibrate gyroscope but there is no sensitivity settings in motion menu and nowhere else.
Please help me to fix my newly bought Grand 2.
I keep trying to use double tap to wake while the phone is in my inside pocket of my jacket and my thumb gets in the way of the sensor causing it to not turn on.
Any way to disable the proximity sensor for this? I don't use the AOD before you say it's to save battery life.
Thanks!
Tasker
Could you elaborate please? Never actually used tasker before... Thanks
