Hi there xda community,
I did switched from Retail EU to this custom ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174731 using Version RazRi_JB_X-2013-Dec-01.zip.
I did this somewhere around beginning of December. My first appreciation settled fast, since a lot of apps crashed right away (Cisco VPN, mpass), others did after a short run (Teamviewer), some did crash the whole phone and made it reboot (Sony TrackID) , VPN connections could not be established,
Anyway, using TWRP today I tried to test the new release RazRi_JB_X-2014-Jan-28; after tons of minutes waiting I rebooted the phone and tried again. Nothing. Tried to use the last RazRi_JB_X-2013-Dec-01. Since all failed I just wanted to use my Backup that I made before installing the ROM.
And now the phone starts up showing the "WARNING BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED" screen.
My windows 7 pc shows "Android" under devices, I can remove "Android" with the icon in the taskbar, BUT:
adb devices does not recognize the phone.
So I guess I'm done, phone bricked.
I did check some posts and forums but nothing did help me.
So any sort of hints on how to proceed would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
James
That warning message appears when you unlock the bootloader, and can't hide if u are in JB. After restore that nandroid the phone can't load?

I know that, thanks.
How do you suppose I restore ?
Have a custom recovery installed? I supposed yes if u flash a zip file. Dunno how to do it in TWRP, I'm reading now and that recovery have a nandroid menu.
Just reboot the phone in recovery and search for that menu, this in case if that nandroid was do it with TWRP.

Hi there,
I think you did not understand my problem.
If I could boot into recovery I would do so. But I cannot, all I see is the "Warning Bootloader Unlocked" Screen, and that is all. Sometimes the phone goes off and starts to boot to that screen. Nothing more.
When trying to use VOL UP / DOWN + PWR Button combinations, none seem to work.

Try holding PWR, VOL+, VOL- for more than 10sec until it reboots.
If its reboot and you see the green LED release all buttons except VOL-.
Hold VOL- until recovery starts. Than load your nandroid backup.
Maybe your new JB-Rom replaced your TWRP and failed. Than you need to install your old-rom TWRP to recover nandroid.
If all fails try to install Stock JB 4.1.2 via RSD-Light and than install the old-rom TWRP and recover nandroid.

Although I did search the net and forum, I did not find a proper solution, thats why I asked here. Probably should have mentioned that in the first post to satisfy the need for approval of the question.

Ok, when I have a look in the right section (http://forum.xda-developers.com/razr-i/help)
There are:
cannot enter bootloader with how to (Date 2014-02-14)
weird softbrick with how to (date 2014-2-10)
These are only 2 I found in less than one minute.
So please excuse my post, but if the same question is asked again and again and the answer is given several times, it is really annoying to read those questions again and again.
If you had searched I am sure you would have found the answer

Well, I too think that the bootloader-entering-combination for the updated 4.1.2 build is not well documented as I searched multiple minutes for it when I needed it
The key is: Power the phone on with Power + Volume Down, release the power button instantaneously as the phone vibrates and hold volume down until the bootloader is there.
This also works on any reboot: Just press and hold the volume down button shortly before the device starts to vibrate (see the green light) - no need to press the power button there.

My biggest question is will I be able to turn off vibrate everywhere in cyanogen including market and sms etc where it won't turn off at all. Vibrate sucks battery like an electric whore!
Did you pressed the "install clockworkmod recovery" button in fastboot?

I think I bricked my brand new Nexus 4 I was trying to follow the rooting directions here:

I was using the Clokcworkmod and I was unable to see the super su folder in the sd connection. and i rebooted it anyways. Now after reboot the phone doesnt start up It just hangs at the X symbol at the startup.
As suggested, I also tried to reboot recovery, which also hangs

Just start again, sometimes it messes up, but you generally just start again with flashing the clockworkmod. Make sure the download wasnt corrupted by doanloading everything again though, although ignore the bit about adb rboot bootloader, you need to start the phone manually by use power + volume-down key combination to get into bootloader when its powered off and continue from point 5.
Thanks, I will give that a try

Don't freak out. I'm sure you're fine.
Unlocking the bootloader on my N10 caused me to hang at the X. Wiping data fixed it for me. Try the following:
1. Reboot into Fast Boot
2. Select Recovery using volume rocker. Hit power to select. You'll get the android mascot with the red exclamation point.
4. Press Power and Volume Up at the same time.
5. Choose to wipe all data. Confirm the selection.
6. Reboot.

So I didn't originally flash the recovery image, just booted into it. So I tried that again, but there is nowhere to find the SU_BusyBox_Pack.zip. I tried the sideload method, but ADB can't find my device any more. It shows nothing when I do adb devices.
what else can I try ?
Were you able to try wiping data through the stock recovery?

I got stuck after just booting into recovery as well and immediately exit. Just use the volume key and change it until you see recovery, without going into it, I just fastboot flash recovery recovery.img from pc, then factory reset.

This doesn't seem to work if you have an unlocked bootloader?
Or at least it doesn't for me on GB 91.2.29001
EDIT: Ok, it seems the timing is different compared to the earlier Jelly bean rom, You have to let go of the power button immediately when the phone vibrates as it's powering on but still hold VOL DOWN

For those who can't go to fastboot using these methods.
The easier way, I think, is to use adb.
Just plug your phone to a computer with adb installed.
Execute the following commands:
Code:
adb devices
to make sure your phone is detected
Code:
adb reboot recovery
to reboot to recovery
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
to reboot to bootloader
Hope it helps !

Yes friend thanks .... But the main idea is from the phone, in brick cases for example ......... Besides when you no have root.
remember that when we are new, many do not know how to handle command window, or as used adb.exe and fastboot.exe files
Or for use a reboot menu apk's, root permissions are required, so that the three methods mentioned are universal.
And certainly one of them work for you

Sorry, I didn't see anything talking about bricked phones...
Anyway, using adb is not that complicated. If you are an android user, and attempt to root/unlock your phone, then you should already be prepared to know how to use some command line basics. adb is essential after rooting a phone, to push apk, backing up things or whatever.
By the way, root is not needed for these commands to work.
Also remember that using a command line prompt is needed to unlock the bootloader.

Again, this serves to any Android user without any knowledge of command lines ....... at least I think so, we all started this way..... one starts knowing or at least common people ..... you must be an exceptional case .... I'm sorry .... I did thinking of ordinary people, like me

I totally understand your point of view. It is a good idea to give these clear explanations.
Thanks for telling me I'm exceptionnal
By the way, IT is my job for nearly ten years, I'm a developper, so these things are like riding a bicycle for me.
I understand everyone has started like this one day, that's why I'm giving here another approach, maybe nerd like
But I persist, this is not complicated at all. Just type on a keyboard a few words.
On Windows:
1. Press Windows+R
2. Type cmd and enter
3. enter the adb command
Only 3 steps and nothing about the exact timing to match with the volume+power buttons methods.
Linux users should already be confident with a command line. (Sorry for Mac users, never used a Mac ...)

i cant get into fastboot!!!
HI, my razr i XT890 is bricked, i have tried the 3 ways for fastboot and no one have worked for me, i'm sure in doing it right, i am also completly sure it is not a battery issue because i have opened the phone and charged the batery externaly and verified with multimeter it is charged.
When i try to turn on the phone it turns on the green led, vibrates 2 times, shows 'm' logo and then turns off and when it does it shows a couple of green lines under the m logo and thats all,
if i connect to lap it does the same thing, in every of the 3 ways of fastboot i have tried it does the same thing,
i have also found some other post that recomend an unbrick method when only turns the green led holding the camera button while connecting to lap and executing an unbrick file, in that case only it Doesn't do the same thing, in fact it seems like if it could work but after it reboots, it does the same thing,
i have no tried to modify the software before this, i didn't tried to root, nothing, thats why it is so strange to me this happens.
i haven't find in any other blog, forums, someone else with the same problem, PLEASE HELP!!!
Help me, please!
Yesterday, I wanted to make a clean install for the latest Quarx's CM 10.1 nightly (I've been flashing Quarx's builds for almost a year now, he's The Best), but I think I made a terrible mistake.

I think Quarx merged that bootmenu when he started to make his 2ndboot nightlies for CM10, but I don't know how to install it separately from his .zip files, you should download some of the latest ROMs a see if you could merge the bootmenu to CM7.

can you gave me a download adress? i am a chinese and have poor english level ,can you tell me the way you fix your phone step by step? think you !
This thread should help (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982), in there you'll be able to find everything you need to fix your phone.
First download RSDLite, then search for a sbf suitable for your country.
Then flash it, you need to have Motorola drivers installed and plug the phone on bootloader mode (press volume up+power button), you have to paste the sbf file you extracted in the RSDLite folder, then just execute it and browse the sbf file, finally press flash and wait.
When you read "please start your phone manually" or something like that, disconnect your phone, remove the battery for five seconds then start it on bootloader mode and plug it.
Your phone should boot to Android.
If you get stuck on bootanimation, wipe data and cache from stock recovery (volume down+power button, when you see the triangle press volume volume up+volume down).
Your phone is ready to go now.

This thread should help (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982), in there you'll be able to find everything you need to fix your phone.

It's not the country your Defy proceeds, you need to know the country for your carrier's signal.
Hi all,
I think I am in some serious trouble right now.. I tried to flash the latest carbon ROM on my device, but completely
forgot to flash the kernel.
I cannot connect to my device using adb (really can't remember if i didn't enable it, been flashing a couple of ROMS tonight ).
I can however, use fastboot.. But what use is that? Can I somehow restore or get to my recovery?
Any help is appreciated!!
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Thanks for the fast reply, but I can't get to recovery.. I've already tried this several times..
Any other suggestions?
EDIT:
It just hangs in black screen, and doesn't get any further when I try this.

If you got to the hard reset screen and pressed power two times but could not get to recovery, its possible that you no longer have any recovery (CWM or TWRP). In some roms, a recovery image is sometimes flashed overwriting the recovery image that you previously installed.
Best bet may be is get back to stock. Try this thread, hope it helps.
