I have the exact same problem with a couple of days old Galaxy S GT-I9000 ECLAIR. Did a factory reset but it did not help. Going to take it back.
In case someone is interested in what kind of files are produced by the camera, you can find a sample here:

Nexus 7 photo editor crashes

Hi all.
I have a 2012 model which is running the latest Android update (4.4.2).
I've noticed that whenever I import a photo from my Canon S95 camera and try to edit using the native photo editing s/w, upon saving the gallery crashes and the original photo is lost. I've tried to show this in the attached screen shots.
Has anyone else seen this behavior? I think it's a Kitkat problem as I've tested on my parent's Nexus 10 with the same results.
It does seem to be only files that are imported from the camera that are affected, others have edited and saved ok.
Thanks for any help..

[Q] Porting Galaxy S3 camera

I have seen quite a few people managed to port the Galaxy Note 3 camera onto the Galaxy S3. I want to do the reverse.
I have been trying to get the galaxy S3 camera to work on the Note 3. This is because the Note 3 camera app does not make proper use of the excellent camera on the note 3. quite a few of the manual modes are missing especially the "low light" mode.
So far I have been able to extract the apk from the S3 and installed it in on my note 3. however I can only do it by removing the stock Note 3 camera apk. It works well and I can take photos and use the low light mode. however the ui is all over the place due to different screen resolutions(eg, the camera button is in the middle of the screen.)
Does anyone know how to port the S3 camera onto the note 3 so that 1) it registers as a separate program and 2) resize icons and 3 fix layout issues.

Try changing the DPI of that app using App Settings in Xposed Framework. If you fix it so that the DPI matches the DPI on the S3, it may display better.
Give it a shot

Thanks. I found this http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...app-layout-and-dpi-settings-xda-developer-tv/
This may work. but I was thinking of making the apk work rather than changing my phone to suit the camera app. Also, this does not address the problem where I cannot have the original Note 3 camera and the galaxy s3 camera apps installed together.

You don't essentially change your phone, App Settings is a system module that changes individual apk's DPI and not the whole phone's if you don't want it to.
Also you can't have the same app because the signature is the same. "com.sec.camera" in /system/app, if you change this you may be able to run both at the same time without uninstalling one.
Thanks, I managed to change the name of the app. it now can be installed along the stock camera app. however, something went wrong in the unpack/repack process. it seems to FC everytime when I open it.
any tips?

Camera with surround shot for Galaxy s4 lollypop

Is there finally at least one normal solution to get surround shot mode (aka photo sphere, 360 photo, vr panorama, orb) at samsung galaxy S4 GT-I9505? I want it to work fast, save images to SD card, use samsung camera's drivers.
Stock camera is well, but there is not such mode there. There is easy way to make surround panoramas, but it has some incomfortabilities:
There is Google camera, which has photo sphere mode, but it has poor settings and can only save pictures in internal storage, not on the SD card. Is it possible to make Google's camera to be a "system application" to be possible to write to sd?
Also I have found an easy solution to install apk from here. It is stock camera from google play edition smartphone. It do not requires root. It was for Android 4.2, but apk works normally on Lollipop. It also has poor settings and saves only on intermal storage.
It seems, that for making good pictures the solution (for me for now) is keeping stock camera with its cool features (autofocusing, animated picture, etc) and one of above cameras for spherical shots.
But also I wanted to ask, maybe there is a solution to port one of samsung's devices camera, which has surround mode to galaxy s4? I think that should be good, due to samsung are using specific hardware drivers for their camera and shots should be bettes quality.
I did a discovery about what cameras has such mode.
As I understand, Note 4 camera has no such mode. But Note 3 camera has.
In this thread they say that they ported Note 3 camera to sgs4. But it is for Android 4.4.2. Is it possible to install it on Lollypop? Because in that case I could keep only single camera application on smart phone.
I also tried that s5 camera port on stock lollypop 5.0.1, but it did not worked for me.
As I understand, in s5 and s6 cameras there is surround mode, but you need to separately download it from galaxy apps.
I tryed to install that ROM which include S6 camera, but in Galaxy apps there is no even one application. So is there a way for somebody extract needed apk from Galaxy apps store (by installing on their S6 for example and extract from file system) and publish it for s4 users?
So, exprienced developers, please help.
