can figure out how to get my speeds above 663? i got this giant processor and cannt use near close to all of it??? thanks
Did u try SetCPU for it?
It is AUTOMATIC. Just because you're not seeing the 998mhz, doesn't mean it's not getting there when under adequate load.
It is kinda same like on newer cpus for pc. maybe it says 2.66 Ghz but it is not clocked like that whole time. just "under pressure"
Actually, I recall someone else posting about this a few days ago, and another XDA'er pointed out that the app was measuring one way, and the true speed was actually 1.5 times that measurement. 663*1.5=994.5mhz. Again, you're fine.

ok i just installed it again for the 2nd time and i will see how it works out, the problem i have with setcpu is that i dont see with setting for the nexus. i see the g1,mytouch and moto droid but i dont think it functions with the nexus very well. idk doesnt suit my needs
Has anyone tried this MOD yet? The OP said it works on the Incredible. To me, it does not seem much different than what SetCPU does.

I see talk on that page of possible clash between setCPU and that mod. I'm partial to being able to see whats going on. Not turning on some mod and figuring "hey its prob working good"

My main issue is it conflicts with kings kernels so I removed it

I like andromadus a lot. its the best rom ive ever had but i think i have some ideas for the next versions of it:
-themes, i would love a sense 4 or touchwiz or even a iOS theme
-more processor speed options, i mostly onderclock my Android. but there should be more "low speeds" options, like 600mhz.
-USB options, like the internet USB options in android 2.3x
-Beats Audio, maybe?
-The old music player, this one is not as easy as the one in beta 3
-Gmail update? it says everytime at opening that it hasn't been synced
-games, temple run is always buggy. Fix maybe?
-when at lockscreen, and then holding the lock button, you can still make screenshots or shutdown or phone, happend to me 2 times. fix that please
i will have more but this is it for now. what do you think?

last thing you said: it has always been like that.
themes pretty much difficult and there are cyano theme you can use
they're trying, I think, to keep the rom as much similar as possible to stock/cyano ics and and to add new features when they may be useful, but not to completely change it. Beats audio: it's mostly for sense roms, you can flash a zip if you want it. they can't update gmail themselves, google should.

AAB4 supports theme. I think the place you should look at is the market. In case you really want sense 4, there're Sense 4 ROMs.

This is a known issue, I can't recall what causes this but it is solved by wiping the cache/gmail cache. Go to account & sync to check if the email sync is actually checked. Not AAB4's fault though.
Overall, I think a lot of things you ask for you can get it if you do some extra work instead of asking the dev to do some more work.

sense 4 rom does not have working camera's and camcorders.
Apollo is more laggy than the old one for me
Im a noob at denvelop. and im not gonna customize this rom because i can let my HTC crash very easy. and i like this thing
This is pointless, honestly. Some people would like these changes, some wouldn't. They can't take a stock experience and change it drastically just for you, and if you must, please PM them your "Sense based" ideas.
Not sure on your other points but have to agree about Apollo. Not sure how anyone with a Desire Z would prefer that over the old music player when it does so much in Portrait rather than landscape....
Lol I made a sense 4 themed andromadus rom in the dev section. Just made it today haha

I dislike how most CPU governors start slow and build up after wake. If the wake speed isn't high enough moving the lock circle on the lock screen seems very laggy and not fluid.
Music player is so very easy to change. If we are talking about custom roms, you can easily delete .apk files in /system/app because you have root access. I do this to ensure only my favorite browser is always used for instance.
I wish known issues like Temple Run crashes, camera focus is off, 3g doesn't always recover after wifi signal dropped were mentioned on the 1st post as "not working". I believe that post is misleading otherwise. Perhaps his 2nd reserve post could be used for a list of "issues" to be resolved.

Which ones are you thinking of? To my knowledge, all the ICS roms released use kernels that default to the smartassV2 governor. SmartassV2 automatically hits an ideal wake frequency immediately after turning the screen on (768mhz in Andromadus). From there it will ramp up or down appropriately.

I suggest Google Play Music. It's much faster than the old player while maintaining the same look and feel. It also tries into Google Music, but I haven't tried that since I'm not in the USA.

Okay, I may not have 1xxx number of posts, but I read, search, and try. If you're going to judge me from my number of posts, please grow up.
Aside from that, I've tried a **** load of configurations on my SGS2 since I got it in January(2012).
Including but not limited to:
Siyah Kernel, all kinds of mods, and configuration sets from various great tweakers out there, such as MagicPrefs and others.
N.E.A.K kernel, Dream Kernel by team Sky Fire, Dorminax, and many, many others.
I've tried many roms, Stock, CheckROM, Hydrogen, AOKP, CM7-10, etc.
After all of that mixing, matching, testing and using, I've finally come to a conclusion on the perfect build, that makes your phone super fast, stable as a rock, and best part is, it takes minimal tweaks. I've noticed the more "tweaks" I've loaded my phone with, the more, uh..funny it gets in terms of compatibility and issues down the road. And remember, tweaks don't necessarily mean improvement. At some point, I couldn't keep a phone log for more than a few days from the amount of flashing and changing I did..
So here it goes.
At the time of this writing,
ROM
cm-9-20120819-NIGHTLY-galaxys2
Start clean of course, wipe everything and install.
Kernel
Stock (the one that comes with the ROM above)
If you want to tweak the kernel or something, use the built-in Performance menu. I usually use ondemand/conservative on 200-1200. When I need super battery saving mode which is rarely, I go down to 200-800.
Tweaks
V6 SuperCharger
This is where all the magic happens
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16635544#post16635544
For the installation, it may seem overwhelming with the weird structure of information that tries to appeal to the advanced and novice, but its really simple(and friendly ). I suggest skipping the step one, the one that says about installing fixed su binary, and the whole "Super Charger Starter Kit" I tried it and it messed up my Super User instead, go straight to installing the script, works wonderful.
Other small tweaks which don't change the performance per say, but if you like a fast reactive phone, I recommend you try this:
In developers menu, set all the Animation scales to 0.5x from the default 1.0x. It simply speeds the animations. And if your launcher supports animation speed adjustments as well, such as Nova Launcher which is what I use, use Fast animation settings as well.
DPI
Many of us like to change the DPI, I recommend 213.
Why? Its the same as the Nexus 7, meaning you wont have to go through funny hoops to get Google Play Store working, and its decent, not too big nor too small.
Tip
If you hold the phone with the left hand, you're blocking the wifi chip antenna which is located in the bottom left of the phone. Try using a right hand grip on the phone when you're low on signal strength.
Use the app GetRIL app, it will suggest a matching Modem with your network for your phone.
Thats all. If I'm to sum the past 8 months of experience into one super knowledge of ultimate wisdom, this is it. No funny weird bugs. No 50 million kernel tweaks that don't seem to be doing much other than making the phone more unstable, etc. Only thing I miss is having a volume boost. I keep Voodoo Louder for that, but of course Siyah's built in free volume boost is great.
From here on, its preferable you know what you want in terms of apps. install what you need only. Nothing more, nothing less. If an app seems problematic, freeze/uninstall it.
And really, enjoy your phone. Forget flashing a new build every 6, 12 hours, or day or two depending on how severe your case of flashing is, and use it as its meant to be used.

Yeah I got slightly confused and overwhelmed at first too. All you gotta do really after installing CM9 is:
Download SManager
Download the V6 supercharger script from his thread, and rename it to end with ".sh" and place it in your internal storage root
and thats all the files you need. Use SManager to run the script with the su button on.

I've been using it since my sgs days. IMHO, it gives you boost. Some devs actually use the sqlite script which is also present in supercharger. Any rom can use the script. You have to run the script. However, if you have super su installed it may break its binary which could give you issue. But I think it can detect whether you have super su and it will abort the su binary installation. Believe me your phone will fly.

Supercharger plays around with minfree values and hence it's effective on phones with less RAM. GSII comes with 1GB which is more than enough for ICS or JB.

It does more than just that, but regarding the RAM, you can't really have enough RAM. 2 GB would obviously be better than 1.
The other day I was playing Dungeon Defender Second Wave, and I got a call while I was playing, so I hung up and guess what? The game exited. My brothers S3 (2GB ram) can handle that no problem.
So I tried this with Thunderbolt script with LMK set to 60MB I think, and I was able to multitask the game and a phone call, while still on the same hardware.
Jeezuz! How can anyone understand what to do?
The OP of V6 Supercharger thread is just a fragmented mess off different things, why is it not just simple?

Download the supercharger starter kit then download script manager from play store. Open the script manager with su permission. Browse the folder supercharger kit from sdcard. The kit should be copied into the internal not to the external card. From the kit folder run the startmeup.sh with su permission. Then follow screen instruction. If your rom has super su icon, you don't have to install the su binary. However, if you mis this portion during installation the process abort its installation coz the script is auto detecting of the su binary. Cheers mate after this restart phone and it will fly.
Thanks, but after all that, its put me off even more!
Why can it not just be a simple apk or zip that automatically does all this messing about?

Hello droidsmiths,
S7 Edge is my first ever smartphone (yep, late to the party). I was looking forward to trying new ROMs and kernels, to get more customisation and have proper (admin) control of my device.
First I tried RR, whose customisations are excellent, but averaged ≈3 hours "normal"-use battery life (stock @ ≈8 hours). AOD/USB stopped working, and the phone was always warm to the touch, even in standby. Is that normal?
I then tried Helios, then SuperMan (and their respective kernels) but I can't find anything different. The included apps/fonts are handy though. All Settings customisations/options seem identical to stock except a new icon here and there, is that correct?
I would like to customise appearance / UI settings (e.g. no animation, white-on-black as default) and have CPU/GPU/RAM/network control. Ideally, battery life at maybe >75% of stock. My expectations might be too high, sorry about that, I am new to all this. I'm a Windows developer, so not too bad with those OSes but totally lost in Android. (Can't even find a way to set the wallpaper to be just black, yikes!)
Is there a TW-based ROM that allows in-depth customisation like RR, or a non-TW ROM with working AOD and fingerprint scanner?
Thanks for any advice/help you can provide, and to the developers for their work.

Welcome to the world of android!
Big advocater for touchwiz ROMs here. Never understood AOSP based ROMs like RR on Samsung phone - nothing improved really (worse battery life, camera, lost features, mild if any performance gain) + I reckon you bought the wrong phone for yourself if you use AOSP ROM on a samsung. Just my opinion though.
Theming - Superman has quite a few things you can change in the superman settings app. most notably for me notification appearance and blur effect on notification pulldown. If you simply want to change appearance, you can use samsung themes. There are plenty of black and white themes there. If it's still not enough, you can use Nova Launcher?
Kernel control - use superkernel with the ROM if you like to tweak. synapse is buggy but will let you tweak heaps. Kernel adiutor has less tweaking ,but more stable.
Performance, battery life - I'm on superman ROM with Superstock Kernel, better battery life than stock for sure. 2% drain overnight (6-8 hrs), ~12-20% drain in 24hr on an average day for me, pretty much default superstock kernel settings (changed IO scheduler and TCP algorithm). Greenify / forcedoze helps with battery too. Performance is pretty much the same as stock in my experience.
Havent tried helios, but I believe it comes with Xposed which offers heaps of customisation. Kernel is pretty much stock here I believe, but you can flash a kernel over it. For tweaking use Superkernel, Notorious or TGP kernel. You can still theme store here too.
I hope this helps. Any questions, let us know

I'm coming to the same conclusion (wrong phone), unfortunately. Wish I knew beforehand about Samsung locking things down so hard before I purchased; was never mentioned in reviews though. It's only been a couple of days and I still have accessories being shipped, so won't sell it just yet. In the meantime I'll see if I can tailor it to be workable.
TBH any ROM is fine, so long as I can do two main things: default to black background/white text (e.g. my Win 10 laptop), and CPU/GPU control. White-on-black is more important, I have a mild optical disorder. The colour-inversion accessibility option is excellent, but as it applies to e.g. photos (unlike Windows' high-contrast accessibility themes) it's overkill... and because it's global, some things are actually harder to discern.
Theming - Superman has quite a few things you can change in the superman settings app. most notably for me notification appearance and blur effect on notification pulldown. If you simply want to change appearance, you can use samsung themes. There are plenty of black and white themes there. If it's still not enough, you can use Nova Launcher?

I jumped the gun installling non-TW ROMs, so haven't tried any of Samsung's themes yet... I'll check them out tonight. With LineageOS, I purchased the Sungtratum Substratum addon and Swift Black theme, which worked very well, but as you say the performance issues and missing features seem to defeat the purpose of owning decent hardware. [EDIT: I'm sorry, that's very rude! I don't mean it so bluntly: I probably won't use e.g. the camera much so can understand that many features are not a priority for users, including myself. Now that I've had a better look around (and still only seen maybe 5% of what's on offer) in the ROMs, all have excelled in different areas and the work that goes into them is incredible, especially for FREE!]
Kernel control - use superkernel with the ROM if you like to tweak. synapse is buggy but will let you tweak heaps. Kernel adiutor has less tweaking ,but more stable.

Ah, I noticed Adiutor included in a couple of ROMs and see that it does all I need—just basic tweaking in discrete profiles like ThrottleStop/Afterburner for Windows, triggered with events via AutoHotkey (Tasker looks like a the best equivalent).

Okay, glad to hear. I'll give SuperMan or Helios another go and see what I can work out with Samsung Themes/Adiutor/Xposed/Greenify/Tasker.
Havent tried helios, but I believe it comes with Xposed which offers heaps of customisation. Kernel is pretty much stock here I believe, but you can flash a kernel over it. For tweaking use Superkernel, Notorious or TGP kernel. You can still theme store here too.

Cool, well I have a lot of options to explore—hopefully I'll be able to tailor things enough to avoid selling it.

(Just bolded points that I saw for easy reference) Samsung doesnt lock things down that bad, most stock ROMs regardless of manufacturer are a little inflexible for various reasons, think of it like an iphone treatment. The custom ones are very flexible IMO.
As for accessories, I know you didnt ask, but screen protectors are hard to come by due to the curved screen - glass ones have poor fit and never have sticky surface the whole way = dust can come underneath + poor sensitivity, film ones tend to lift up on the edges . and once you do find a reasonable one, normally cases cause the screen protector to lift. I highly recommend a film screen protector and a case that is friendly on one. I personally use an unbranded film protector from a street shop haha BUT I would highly recommend the supcase unicorn beetle case as it has a part that comes from the front (rather than most cases that only come from behind) meaning that it keeps the protector on very well, even an unbranded one such as mine.

TBH any ROM is fine, so long as I can do two main things: default to black background/white text (e.g. my Win 10 laptop), and CPU/GPU control. White-on-black is more important.

Both boxes are quite easily ticked. Theme store sounds like the solution for you - like i said earlier, plenty of black and white themes. Superman ROM also lets you change the colours for notifications as theme store wont change that. Attached some screenshots of my phone's UI just to show you that it can be done with touchwiz.

Yeah, I reckon you sorta did too haha. It's a little bit of overkill if you simply just want those two modifications. Give touchwiz another chance I reckon. I dont think you'll regret it, given what I've read.

Adiutor is not bad and is is very stable. If it does all you need, then dont even try synapse lol. Synapse was hugely frustrating to me - unstable AF, not something I needed controlling my kernel.

My stats are also all while connected to android wear, location always on and sometimes bluetooth audio in car, so you may get even better. If you need any battery saving tips, I can help out as well. Alot of tricks are simply just changing settings. There are apps that can help too.

No worries happy to help. I'm in the chillest year of my degree, so I got plenty of time. I wrote a lot this time as well I think haha. So TLDR - give touchwiz another go, it sounds like you wont regret it by reading your posts.
