I upgraded my Cyanogenmod Rom, and when I got back, everything was still there, just updated. So, are there any apps I have to update, like the Google Apps?
Newbie to upgrading. Thanks.

Use the gapps that match your ROM, period. If you need to update them, do it.

Hello,
It's been a while since I have played around with rooting and tinkering with my Evo 4G.
Right now I have it rooted and a few apps like ROM Manager, SuperUser and such installed. I'm currently running 2.2.
I would like to get updated with the newest rooted stock OS. I need this phone to work and would also like to maintain stability and improve battery life.
I found the details at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790427 as how to 'After rooting, how do I install a ROM?'
Which ROM is recommended to keep as close to as stock while still giving me root capabilities and apps?
Is there a version I should avoid do to age / hardware of phone?
I was thinking of this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319881
or from this list:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Supersonic/ROMs#Stock_ROMs
#8, the OTA version.
Any suggestions or comments on either, others, my process?
Thanks.
Does it have to be a stock rom? If not, i suggest MikG or evolved recharged.
They're both pretty good roms

You're all good with hardware and such, just pick which ever rooted stock rom you like, wipe, flash and reboot.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium

Here's a list of some ROMs you could try out. Look under Custom ROMs.
Just make sure you have a backup of your current ROM just in case.
thanks for the replys.
Just so i have this right..
I am going to choose OTA-#8 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Supersonic/ROMs#Stock_ROMs
This looks like the newest stock rooted ROM, correct?
I have everything backed up and see the docs, but have one last quesiton:
How do I restore all my contacts, apps, configs, etc once I do this?
I rooted and did this when I got the phone and built on top of it, but from the description of the backups, it's backing up the entire config of the phone (like an image). I would imagine that I dont try to reinstall all my apps from that one, right?
Thanks.

According to that URL, OTA Update #11 is the newest OTA available. Before you switch back to stock though you should check out these ROMs by -TeamBlaze-.
Hello everyone,
I seem to have a strange problem with Chrome all of a sudden. I am on stock rooted 4.3.2 and most I do with my ROM is to integrate updated apps into it, other than that, no customizations, etc. When I try to run Chrome, I get a message that Chrome couldn't be run, that either it is not installed properly or that some component is missing. I might have integrated Chrome update into the ROM - but I've done that several times until now and had no problems whatsoever....
What is the easiest way to solve this? I'd hate to have to flash the stock rom, thus lose all my apps/data - because I don't have enought space left on internal storage to make titanium backup
Can I uninstall Chrome (system app?) and then try to install from Play and make it a System app from Titanium?
Thanx
D.
SOLVED!
It didn't want Chrome to be System app. By making it User app, it started working again. Strange, I'm pretty sure it was a system app...

Hi all...sorry if this is very noob but hope someone can help me out...
i got my galaxy s4 for att and its been great so far...i did root it and got rid of all the junk stuff on the phone which was nice to do... but a little issue now..there is an OTA update and its trying to apply it by rebooting but it goes to my console screen i guess and i know even if it applies it it would get rid of root.... is there a way to apply this without having to reinstall all my emails (5 emails) and my apps and keep the root ability on it? I would love to get the feature to send apps to my SD thats the only reason i really want it.
again im sorry if this is very noobish to some of u but would like a nice guide if possible how to do it.
Thanks in advance
What device? Thats important, and DO NOT let it do the update. if you are rooted, you could freeze the samsung updater.
I would get off stock and flash a custom rom.

hehe I know you stated galaxy s4, but I needed to make sure, US version right?
Use my rom, mine is totally stock, with a few modifications, and FAST!
or you can go any TW rom.
here is mine..
[ROM] ViSiON-X v1.0|AROMA|4.2.2|MGA|TW|[08-03]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391142
then you will not have to worry about an update, until someone finds a patch for the update...

I use Infamous S4 as well, I love it. It's pretty stock feeling.
When it comes to the backing up part, I suggest Titanium Backup. Get the pro version and you can batch install all of your apps from a backup, otherwise you have to do it one by one. It also saves all app data and system data and accounts, so you can do a full wipe when installing an update or a new ROM (always a good idea,) then just let it completely restore the phone from a backup. You can use it to back-up everything, except for the home-screen layout (android limitation apparently.) Plus you can backup right to the phone if you have space so you don't have to wory about using the computer. I recomment getting a microSD card for 10 bucks at Staples and backing up to that. When you're restoring, make sure that you check what you're restoring. Most of the stuff in red are system apps that don't need to be restored (as newer or the same versions may already be installed from the update.)
For restoring root priviledges, CWM and TWRP custom rrecoveries have a tool for this.

It will eventually update to the new version as soon as all other android devices get updated. Seems like your device got shoved to the back of the line. Try clearing Play Store data and cache to force the update.
This same thing happened to me. Ignored it for a few hours then bam i had it after i forgot about it lol so i wouldnt worry
Hi!
Just unintentionally downloaded an OTA Update. Since I don't want to upgrade to Lolliflop: how can I remove it?
Thanks in advance
Remove OTA update
I´m afraid the only possibillity is to do a factory reset and not load the updat next time it asks.
Make sure you back up your apps, contact and other crucial info before you do.
If you are rooted Titanium Backup would be best for the job
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
If you are not rooted, the are several apps and cloud services available for the job.
Good luck.
Thanks, but too late. I'm already running Lolliflop. At least this version is not as bad as the first one.
ODIN

Why don't you just flash stock kitkat with ODIN?

Don't want to go back again one more time. The latest iteration of Lolliflop isn't as bad as the first one anyway. So I guess I'll live with it.
