I'm sorry but don't you think that's too many clicks?
I realize that this may not be the popular thing to say around here, but I came from an iPhone 3G. Contemplated getting the 3GS but decided to give WinMo one more try and placed an order for a HD2 just now via DeviceWire.
But getting back on topic.. in the iPhone jailbroken world, there is a fantastic app called "SBSettings". It gets activated by a swipe near the top left area of the screen. From there, you could turn on/off toggles for things such as bluetooth, Edge, HSDPA, rotation, autocorrect, etc etc. People are building other toggles as addons for it all the time. But something like that should also exist for WinMo.
Now that I'm a WinMo newbie (my last windows mobile phone was a PPC-6700 and I swore never then to buy another windows mobile phone again). So there might already be another app just like the one that I'm describing. But if there isn't, it'd be great for someone to build that software. I'd certainly be willing to pay for that kind of conveniences!

At 8am this morning my battery was 100%.
It is now 3pm and my battery is 60%. Weep.
I watched Star Trek for 30 mins on the train and did some email browsing and general tasks.
Wow.

Sure, if this was a setting people used one or more times a day, like turning wifi/bluetooth on/off.
How many people will ever even want to switch from the automatic default? 1% who are looking to save battery at the expense of speed? I'm sure there'll be some crazy control freak who wants minute-by-minute control of this, but who cares?
For 99% of people auto-3G degrading to 2G when 3G is unavailable is exactly what they want. For 0.99% of people they'll want to switch to pure 2G for battery purposes, it's a one-off action done on day one. It's easy enough to find in phone settings.
Who cares about that last 0.01%? If they're that bothered they can pay someone like me to knock up a switcher app.
I don't own an HD2, but I wouldn't be surprised if this could be speeded up a bit. On my Touch Pro2 the normal route would be Settings/Communications/Phone/Band (at the bottom of the screen). But the thing that gets launched when you go through that sequence is actually a programme in its own right, called CMBandSwitching.exe (resident in the Windows folder). So if you make a short-cut to that programme and put it in the Start Menu, then you can jump straight into it. Maybe there's a similar trick on the HD2?

Nice find!
Hey everyone. So I find I have an annoying issue that is kind of pissing me off. I guess a majority of car makers have this wonderful "feature" that sends a "play" signal to the phone while connecting. This would be nice IF I could pick the app it would play with but the epic and other phones like to pick the defauly music player.
The downside is that I tend to stream pandora or slacker while on the road so each morning I get 2 songs playing at once lol.... rather annoying. I then need to load the music player and stop it. There are some good parts to what the cars do....like if an incoming call is answered it pauses the active player (usually slacker for me) while on the call.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to change any of this behavior? I guess that would have to be a kernel change or possibly a bluetooth apk if there is one? I would love to try to find a way to leave the pause portion there for calls but maybe like a check if there is a active player on top then play or pause is OK, but if in background, dont do anything.
I have searched a lot on this and it seems to be a common issue. But I just wanted to see if anyone has any ideas. I tried the app "autostarts" but it complains about not having root access even though the phone is rooted so that isnt an option it seems. It's probably wishful thinking, but was hoping maybe someone has an idea.
Or is there something I could use to kill Music Player for example "if" it was auto started and not run by me directly?
I suppose you could use a task killer and set it to kill the music player whenever it starts up. You could always disable it when your not using it. I wouldn't use it for anything else besides the music player that you wish to kill.
The problem I see with that is with most task killers they use a timer... unless I am missing one that will kill it automatically when it opens? The downside to that is if I use another app to monitor that app I have a feeling I am going to kill my battery life if it constantly monitoring.
You may be able to do this using tasker. It's not free (five bucks) and it's a bit complicated, but there is a week's trial on the developer's website.
I'm not allowed to post links, but just google tasker for android. The version in the market doesn't have the trial, though. The one on the developer's website is a buck cheaper and offers a trial.
If you aren't familiar with it, you can basically use it to take any input the phone uses (phone, sms, location data, gesture, bluetooth data, whatever) and make it output any event, so you could have it give a media all stop command every time you connect it to bluetooth. You could even have it automatically bring up a little menu with pandora, music player, last FM.. whatever media players you use.. after that. You could probably even get it to perform different behaviors depending on which bluetooth radio you connected to (so you could have it do something different in your car than in your friend's car for instance).
It's really a lifesaver of a program, well worth the five bucks I dropped on it, it's replace multiple other apps in my life. Not trying to sound too much like a commercial, but I have every reason to think it would do what you want. It is a bit complicated until you get the hang of it, though.

+1... was just about to say, Tasker can do it. Tasker has been the best $5 I've spent in a loonnnng time.
I got tired of getting up in the morning for my 1.5 hour morning commute (gotta drop the kid off to daycare in another county) and getting to work late because it had been rainy and terrible. Setting the alarm crazy early just to check and see if the weather was any good was not a pleasant prospect, and with winter on the way, I needed a solution.
So I spent an evening with Tasker. I had it perform an HTTP GET at Accuweather.com after passing my zip code to the website. I then had it search the returned text for words such as "rain", "snow" and storm". It runs this search at about 5:00 AM, and dependent upon the result, sets an alarm (with a snooze function that I programmed in). After the initial alarm, since I knew I'd be too tired to pay much attention to WHY it had woken me up early, I have it speak out loud "Good morning, you have been woken early today because it is [X weather] and [X degrees, after performing a Celcius to Farenheit conversion]. It is currently [time].
I plan on posting the Tasker profile to my blog in a couple days after I'm sure it contains no bugs (it'll probably snow in the morning so I'll be able to test that scenario).
Anyhow, this just gives a taste of what Tasker can do. I have it launch a list of apps when I plug into the headset jack, silence my phone if I get within 300 meters of work, or sound an alarm, vibrate, flash an LED, take pictures, and redirect outgoing calls to my girlfriend's phone if I send it a certain text message, to name a few very useful profiles I've got set up.
Tasker does everything without forcing you to learn any syntax or do any coding at all. It would be a matter of minutes to set up a scenario where, if you connect via Bluetooth, it waits a moment and terminates the default video player application and then launches the other application you want to use. One of the profiles I've forgotten to mention is one that, when I launch Navigation with the GPS off, closes Navigation, enables GPS, and loads Navigation back up. When I'm in the car I just want to touch Navigation, not screw with GPS settings.
Anyhow, enough of my gushing about Tasker. Seriously, best $5 app you'll ever buy. Trust me.
That might be pretty nice... wonder if it can tell the difference between a bluetooth headset and AD2P. I'll have to try it. Wonder if it could start my car with its application too like 30 min after my alarm hehe.

I've been playing with Tasker and it will do what I need Thanks! I ended up setting up a profile that when it connects to my vehicle only, it will kill music player, wait 3 seconds and then kill it again... it took that due to the fact the car doesnt send the play signal for a few seconds.
I certainly didn't buy the phone for S-Voice, but it was definitely a sweetener in the deal. The idea of snoozing an alarm without even opening my eyes or having to move was a lazy man's dream.
After a week of practical usage, I am now resigned to the fact that the implementation is simply too flakey and inconsistent to be useful.
For a start, the literature seemed to promise that you could wake the phone into S-Voice mode by saying "Hi Galaxy". This isn't quite true. You can UNLOCK the phone by saying it (or another preset voice command), but (unless I am missing something obvious) you can't wake it. You have to press the Home or Power button to wake the phone, then you can use a voice command to unlock it. But to be honest, this is completely redundant. If you've gone to the trouble of retrieving the phone (think: while driving) and pressing a physical button, the additional effort required to simply drag your finger across the screen is negligible.
Then there's the lack of consistency in the phone's ability to listen. Sometimes it responds instantly and positively. Other times it has selective deafness. The first morning I tried the "snooze" command, a lesuirely, tired utterance was all it took to snooze the phone (which I was very pleased with). The next morning, it was a case of: "snooze.... snooze.... SNOOZE!!" before an elbow in the face from my wife told me that this wasn't going to work, and I had to drag myself out of my pit to physically turn off the alarm.
It's same in the music player. Sometimes a gentle and casual "Next" has the desired effect. Other times, after the 10th attempt of screaming "NEXT!!" at the phone, you realise it just isn't going to work. There's no pattern. It simply listens sometimes, and not other times.
Finally, there's the odd inconsistency in the way the other phone software responds to an S-Voice command. There are times when S-Voice understands exactly what you are saying, but when it switches to another application to carry out the command, something gets lost in translation.
The music player is a perfect example. When attempting to show off the new found features to my wife, I instructed the phone to: "Play artist Adele". Which S-Voice understood. Music player then started.... playing Kelly Clarkson songs. Cue a derisory snort from the wife.
I've tried this dozens of times, variations of "Play song [x]", "Play songs by [x]", "Play artist [x]", "Play song [x] by [x]". Some times it works, as expected, instantly. Other times it will switch to the music player and play whichever song was last played (regardless of what you ask). Other times it will just play something completely unrelated to anything. Switching back to S-Voice always confirms that the phone had correctly understood the request.
All in all, it's just not quite there as a viable mechanism for controlling the phone. You simply can't rely on it. Which, unfortunately, resigns it to the "gimmick" bin.
In terms of comparisons to Siri, I would say the vocal "hit rate" is similar, the list of integration to phone features is better, but it lacks the personality and humour - which shouldn't be completely overlooked.
I second this. After seeing Siri being shown off by a colleague, then when they announced S-Voice for SGS3 I thought finally Samsung can kick apple in jewels and improve it massively. Hmmmm....
I got mine yesterday and tried to make an appointment booking, turn on blue tooth, set an alarm, do a simple addition and navigate. I tried speaking slow and clearly and normal and clear.
The appointment booking totally useless! I even tried to be a yank and do things backwards i.e MM/DD/YY. It even got the title wrong. Epic FAIL!
Setting the alarm clock. Worked like a treat
Navigation using post code was rubbish, it kept mistaking G for J and added un wanted spaces. FAIL!
I asked the phone what is 2+2 it gave me an answer of 4 after about 30 seconds, I then said what is 2+2x2, it showed (2+2)x4 on screen but gave me an answer of 2+2^4?
Turning on Bluetooth kept returning an network error despite being able to immediately set the alarm after.
I found when testing quite a few features showed in the list for S-Voice some took absolutely ages to respond. I had it connected to WiFi as well. Its a good concept but needs improving a lot.
When I watched the unveiling, the guy with the french accent somehow managed to get the phone to understand him. How come nothing works for me? I dont have any accents I have a straight forward english accent.
Hmm "Turn Bluetooth On" works here. Obviously 2 + 2 * 2 is ambiguous. I tried "whats two plus two multiplied by two" and it replied 6.
As far as having it wake the phone from sleep that would mean constantly have the voice recognition on, which will probably drain your battery really quickly.
True, I imagine even a passive microphone listener would be battery consuming, though the microphone does currently listen passively when the phone is in applications such as the music player.
I think it would just be nice to have the option of genuine voice powered wake up, or at least have it as part of a "smart" profile, e.g. it is enabled when I am in the car.
I share the OP's pain, in the fact that sometimes it works perfect then the next time not at all, quite frustrating I must say.
what Samsung should have done is label it "beta" and then everyone would lower their expectations and be totally impressed by the little that it can do..
it worked for Apple and Siri
Isn't that something that can be corrected with software update though?

The S3 isn't available here yet so I haven't gotten to try it out, but can someone who has S-Voice say the following and tell me how it responds..
"remind me to call my brother when I leave here"
I tried this in speaktoit and it did a useless web search. Tried it on Siri in the store and it did exactly what I expected. I haven't been able to find anything on Android that actually works for real life tasks as well as Siri seems to, and if S-Voice will then that would be a phone-seller for me.
Thinking back now, I'm betting the French Bloke was bricking it wouldn't work , he did look rather relived when it did

I did this for you, surprisingly it worked first time and saved it as task, not sure how it would know when I leave though
I never expected S-voice to be anything but patchy, however I've been pleasantly surprised by its accuracy.
Sure it's not 100% but it's in the 90's for me. I've used it for...
Navigate to...
Call...
Text...
Facebook status...
Twitter status...
Alarm...
& reminder.
The wake unlock is a big let down as I thought it would do exactly what everyone else thought. Still, I'm sure this can be corrected with an update.
After over a week of using my S3 and Android for the first time I'm addicted! I love it!

From further testing am I correct to say for example I want to create a task. I must tell the phone to "create a task" then the phone responds then you tell it more information? I thought I could just say creat task lunch with mum on june 25th at 1pm? If I try that it completely messes up.
In regards to waking up the phone by voice, I found when you are close to the phone the screen comes on prompting you to unlock with s-voice. Or are people wanting to operate the phone like half way across your living room?
Things like call, text, navigate, setting alarms etc work perfectly well with Google voice actions, Vlingo or the other voice apps. What was different about SVoice was its integration into the OS, waking the phone, snooze etc. But it sounds like those features don't really work
Things like those shouldn't even need a data connection or server support. The phone has enough power to understand a simple command like 'snooze'.
Just to clear, it does snooze... Sometimes. That's one of the key annoyances. Sometimes the "in-app" Voice control just doesn't seem to be listening, and other times it does.

It creates a task with "call my brother when I leave here" as a title. But no reminder, and there's no intelligence behind it. Doesn't know who my brother is and doesn't know where I am or whether I have left there. Useful if you check your task list often, but probably not what you were hoping for.
I agree. I'm impressed if I say 'text Kerry that I couldn't get the tickets' it would text Kerry 'I couldn't get tickets'.
I wish this was an Google app I guess we would see constant updates.

When the first car came out it was nowhere near the Bentleys' and Rolls Royces' we have today. Gotta start somewhere, right?
I have another glitch with it, I can ask it something like 'what is the time in dubai' it recognizes it but then it just give me the local time where I am.
I'm planning on installing my Flo Nexus in my car to replace the outdated stock navigation system. I was quite interested in Timur's USB ROM but it doesn't support Flo and doesn't look like he'll be adding it after cancelling the indiegogo campaign he started to fund it.
I've spent some time searching and looking at the different kernels and roms available, and for now am running ElementalX 1.7beta with an older CM nightly.
I think this meets most of my needs, but I have one little nitpick - is there anything out there that separates the "Wake on plug" action into two separate functions? I'd like the screen to wake up when power is applied, but not when power is removed as this is going to leave the screen on when I get out of the vehicle. Ideally when power is removed I'd like it to go to deep sleep immediately.
Thanks.
I've never used the app Tasker. But isn't that what people use when trying to accomplish that?

I've used tasker for different things, but have found it unreliable when it came to power events, at least in the past. I'll definitely give it a shot and see how it works for this scenario. Thanks for reminding me.
Any other suggestions out there in case Tasker doesn't do the trick, or other votes for Tasker?
I got an app called "Caffine" which keeps the screen on while plugged in/charging, and when I turn the car off I set the backlight to 15 seconds, that way it sleeps after 15 seconds. Works great.
If you don't mind me asking, how are you installing the tablet into your car?

I have an '06 Acura TL with OEM Navi system. I'm having a car audio shop relocate the navi screen (as it's tied to climate functions but I don't need to see it) and they're putting the tablet in its place. The goal is to have things looking stock while be far from it.

It's part of a complete stereo install I'm doing, and it's not cheap although it's not rip-off expensive either. I chose them because they are capable of doing good fabrication work and are going to need to put something together to hold the tablet securely in place behind the stock bezel.
Just wanted to update for people to know what I did. Tasker was the way to go to get exactly what I want, but I needed to add the Secure Settings plugin as well. With that plugin I was able to immediately turn on the screen when power is applied, as well as shut off the screen immediately when power is removed.
I've also attached other bits to these profiles, such as adjusting the CPU clock and disabling wifi/bluetooth when the screen is off. At this point I'm losing less than 10% battery for 24 hours of sleep, which is pretty good although I'd like to see if I can find any improvements. We'll see!
So, this is my first day with this phone, but I have already discovered a lot of things. I will keep this thread updated, though, as I discover more of it on my journey to enlightenment.
Also bear in mind that just before this, I was the owner of an LG G2, so some of the things will be more of a comparison on the user friendliness LG offers.
Key features
Size: At least for me, this is the sweet spot. “Once you go Compact, you’ll never go back.”
Glass: Feeling. It’s a smooth surface. You’ll want to be able to embrace it all you can all day.
Border: Grip usefulness. If you hold your smart phone from its borders, it’ll be a sure bet it’d never let go of you.
Microphone: The other end of the call hears what it’s said so clearly, it’s scary. Once it sounded as if the person was on the ring.
Camera: Have yet to try under low-light conditions, but at noon, this camera shined. I was complimented at wok for its effective resolution.
Middle ground
Buttons layout: Hardware and software buttons. I don’t know you, but I think this phone was made for left handed. Whenever I use my right hand, I don’t know, I feel my thump is all cramped in there trying to change volume, while if I use my left hand, oh, boy, it all feels natural, and no more cramping. The good side of this is I’ve learned to use my left hand more. Definitely the best uni-hand setup is that of the LG G2. With buttons behind the phone, both hands are equally free to work with them.
Front speakers: Sound is loud, but I found it to be muffled. I can only guess it’s due to its water/dust proof nature. To be honest, I never use the phone’s own speakers that much. Almost never on any phone I’ve owned so far.
Applications: I totally hate it they have bundled some of the worst widgets/applications I’ve seen, ever. “What’s New”... really? Yet, there are some useful or nice one, at least to me: Album, Walkman, PlayStation, and others.
Disadvantages
Glass: Coating is awful. I once a long time ago thought the my HTC Desire was the King of smudges and fingerprints. Guess what? We got a new champion...! Seriously, I’m thankful I bought the White version, which makes the back of the phone appear as clear as it could be, while only the front suffers totally from it. In just five minutes of constant usage (like in a game, or scrolling and archiving Tweets), the front glass was kinda “oily”, and you could see smudges everywhere. Also you know what? It’s slippery has hell. Never, ever, before, have I encountered a surface as slipper as these glasses. Words cannot describe how much that is.
LED Flash: It’s the worst. As for hardware, the darn thing “bleeds” light before it even leaves the case of the phone. I mean, Sony, seriously? This is totally unacceptable. I’m even thinking on returning it if only because of this. I tried the Flashlight notification widget, and the Torch application itself: total disaster. They are so dim, it looks as if they didn’t want us to use the “phone” as a flashlight. Yet, I discovered, the LED Flash can go even brighter. I noticed it while taking a picture in low-light conditions.
System navigation bar: No way to change it, even with some default presets. The LG G2 had this. For example I don’t use the Recents button much, but I do A LOT “switch back to previous application” option back on my HTC Desire with an application that would let me set such things up, like behavior when long pressing such buttons as well.
Permanent notifications: For some reason, some applications like Lifelog and My Data Manager create a kind of immortal notification on the Notifications Bar.
I’m pretty tired at the moment. I’ll try to update tomorrow morning with what’s missing or to try to answer other questions. Feel free to comment your own while I do so.
We're in the same boat bud.... Coming from a lg g2 to a white z3 compact. Feeling about the same too. I really would like to know your take on the battery life as this is one of the main reasons for me to switch. But it's still early so take your time and let us know.
Well, the LG G2 was a battery power house on its own. I made it to 72 hours once, but using only LTE and stock AT&T ROM. Wi-Fi disabled.
I’ll report back this weekend when I reach 1%.
Wow! Mine never reached 50 hours.
Buttons
I got my compact about a month ago, I love it
The only annoyance I see is the location of the buttons on the right side, when holding the phone during a call my fingers struggle to find a spot to hold the phone.
I think they should move the power and volume buttons further up

Alright, just reached 1% this morning. Check the attached images for details.
So, details of my analysis:
I didn’t use STAMINA mode. I will do so on my next testing session.
Most connectivity services were enabled all the time: NFC, mobile data and Wi-Fi. Also my preferred data option was LTE first, so take that into account as well. Bluetooth was disabled. I had the Location-based Wi-Fi option, so Wi-Fi would turn off if I wasn’t near any of my saved Wi-Fi locations. I think this is one of those smart options. I like it.
Looks like Facebook applications, it seems no matter which one, don’t do smart push notifications. It is ALWAYS using background data checking. I’ll be sure to disable Facebook on STAMINA mode next time. I use WhatsApp, but WhatsApp looks like it knows how to properly work with Push Notifications. That is, it’s not a battery drainer.
Kind of the same thing for the Swarm application.
Some applications consume data and hence battery only because of some “active” widgets I got on my home screens, like Walkman. I will profile and optimize them accordingly. I pretty much left all the widgets there from stock start up. Only deleted What’s New widget.
You see that the screen is what took most of the battery, yet I find it strange it doesn’t really indicate the applications I was using precisely. I mean, of course the screen was needed so I could see the applications, but I find it weird that, for example, I navigated through the Facebook application for like an hour, yet neither the video watching nor scrolling seemed to have taken a battery hit according to the Battery usage diagnostics. I need to dig deeper.
I did some gaming, but it was a lightweight game, Bubble Blast 2. I will try some more serious gaming later on. I’m setting up my old MyBoy! GBA emulator like I had it on my previous phone. It’s just that I live in another city from before, and now the commuting time is shorter, which was mostly the time when I used it.
Alright, that’s it for battery report.
I will sit down this weekend and try to truly optimize my work flow this time, so next tests are, as much as they can be, more accurate.
I’d wish more people commented. I’m truly offended no reviewers ANYWHERE I’ve read (outside these forums, I mean) have commented on things like the bleeding LED flash, the REAL slippery status of the glass (where they have mentioned it, they make it sound as a minor thing, and that it is NOT) and stuff like that.
Thanks!
No, THANK YOU! A very good and detailed review on battery life. I will keep checking in here to follow your findings. Thanks again.
Hello back.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t quite finish my whole homework. It’s been 2 days, 7 hours of battery running (29% left), I’ll admit most of it the device has been idle, so:
I didn’t fully optimize my workflow.
Haven’t reached 1% yet.
Still, I wanted to report some things I’ve noticed:
Wi-Fi drains your battery like hell. Even with the location-based settings, forget it. It’s better to enable it only for application updates or when you need to download something big. Leave even the weather updates to your mobile network.
Can’t tell for real if 4G (HSPA+)consumes less battery than LTE, to be honest. I’m always on LTE, and it is awesome.
Enable Ultra-STAMINA mode when you go to sleep. It’s a huge saver, and seriously, if you want to sleep, disable interruptions. Probably its activation can be automated with something like IFTTT or Tasker to be enabled at midnight.
Not exactly sure if the Extended standby option of the normal STAMINA mode actually works. Supposedly it disables Mobile and Wi-Fi networks when the screen is off, but whenever I turn it on, the network icons are there immediately, like they’ve never been disabled. At least Wi-Fi icon should take a second or two to appear, instead of being immediately there.
Disabled Lifelog, which was taking a lot of battery after the Screen.
Alright, that’s it for now. Let’s keep walking the path.
On my Z3c the WiFi doesn't drain the battery.. Odd. For the disabling / enabling it's super fast because of the integration of the chip
For example my SBH-80 connects in one second top or even less when my s4 needs 4 or 5 seconds to do the same. Even on the Z Ultra it takes up to 2 seconds.

Hmm... well, to me, compared to having Mobile data enabled, Wi-Fi drains the battery more.
Nice to know about the instant connection. My package also came with an SBH20. Gotta try what you said.
Thanks.

What's an SBH20?

What, you got a SBH-20 (FYI mab71 it's a Bluetooth Handset ) IN your package ? In the french package the isn't even a pair of Sony MH-750 for the headset, it's just a old pair of headphone that came from '90
It's odd about the WiFi / LTE Because the LTE is known to drain more battery than WiFi in most situation. Do you have a good WiFi signal ? Maybe you could try to change the canal on your modem to optimize your signal, if it become stronger it would be better for the phone and then not pumping too much. But 2-3% a night is not so much anyway

****! Mine is the old 90s one
I've also come from the g2.had the z3c for over a month now and I do miss a few things. The g2 screen was simply awesome and the led flash light was blinding. The battery is better for me on the z3c, I always have stamina turned on. Unplug at 7 am and by midnight I can still be at 85%. That's with just a bit of usage though. It's also better when I really hammer the battery too (ingress)

For instance, in the Italian Package, there is a MH-750 headset AND a and OTG cable. I'm not jocking at all, I was astonished when i saw this, especially when the price is lower than for the French people !
I've received today the MDR-NC31EM, it's worth the money, really (30-35 bucks)
Yeah, it might be the signal is bad (although it appears full), but in all instances I’ve witnessed, Wi-Fi drains more battery than my LTE.
Going back to STAMINA, I find its behavior unreliable. I enabled the Extended standby, and I made sure to exclude Facebook from the White listed applications to use background data connection, yet I still keep getting notifications from it. Also on the Developer options, in Process Stats, Facebook keeps getting a 100% runtime, mostly from its MqttPushService service.
I think I will still keep STAMINA on all the time, but I find it weird. I will search these forums for other people’s experience with it, otherwise it’d be wise to create a new Thread just to research into this.
By the way, Greg2Lu, no, the SBH-20 didn’t come IN the package. I bought my phone from my country’s online Sony Store. I paid more than USA price for it, but I thought it was normal imports system ripping me off, which isn’t unusual in my country, but I wanted the phone anyways (and the warranty, should I need it and receive it). What happened was that I received three packages with my purchase: Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (White), an SBH-20 headset, and a 5000 mAh CycleEnergy portable charger. The attached invoice mentioned the correct prices for each item. I would have preferred if they had simply sold me the phone for what it was, instead of bundling me with stuff I didn’t need and making me pay for it. The phone box DID come with a set of MH410c, though, but I bet they are crap, and I already got a good headset anyways.

Go to settings, data usage, scroll down until you find both facebook and Facebook messenger and untick allow background data. This will stop facebook from updating.

[*]Permanent notifications: For some reason, some applications like Lifelog and My Data Manager create a kind of immortal notification on the Notifications Bar.

dude, just deactivate it for these apps, its a checkbox in the app details. Confirmed working for Life Log, thanks for this tip anyway
IMHO, its not an upgrade from G2.

No, I don’t want to disable background data checking forever, that’s why I set specific rules for STAMINA (only when screen is off), problem is somehow Facebook applications seem to skip that.

I see what you mean. I found another way to disable it through Settings -> Personalization -> Manage notifications.
And yes, it is definitely not an upgrade. I traded screen resolution for more battery (or at least a longer lasting phone), but boy, I couldn’t be happier. A day of full usage, chatting and video and stuff, 18 hours. That’s awesome.
I’m gonna be keeping this baby for a long time.
