Feels awesome and feels like you are writing with a normal pen.. i like it, so here how2build your own.
What you need:
- one of these guys (or similiar) (just the cap.)
- the grip from another pen
1. you have to remove the cover / top of the cap, so you get a tube.
2. pull the grip over it
top:
bottom:
3. ofc pull the whole thing over your stylus =) (not too much, you want to be able to remove it later!)
4. have fun

I actually use a pencil with mine most of the time... if the tip isn't too sharp it works almost flawlessly, and it glides over the screen very nicely and doesn't hurt the screen at all. I even bought some FullHB pencils (they're solid graphite, no wood) to use, and they seem to work even better than a standard pencil.
I just dug up the old full graphite pencils from my art school days and I have to agree: they are amazing stylusses (styli?).
Then I decided to go one better: I got a mechanical pencil with some nice fat leads (I went for 3mm HB koh-i-noors). Now I can retract the vulnerable graphite for safer traveling and still have an amazing and precice hard-tip stylus.
I might just take apart the official stylus and replace the rubber with a bit of graphite, but I'm not entirely comfortable storing that inside the tablet.

I had tried just a regular cheap mechanical pencil, and they don't work at all... probably because the lead is too thin and/or the casing is plastic and doesn't carry the conductivity to your hand. Glad you liked the pencil idea, though! Oh, and yes, it is styli
This is cool.

So you installed the pro stylus tip in to a regular pen of some type? please fill us in on the details, I use my tablet pretty much just for the writing, and the oem one sucks.

it does do that, doesn't it.. that strange bend, I can stare at it for seconds.. I'm not sure I get it fully..

So the size of your nose & the shape of your stylus unreveals a girl everything you don't want to tell.
Hmmm, my stylus is worn & chewed.
My wife prefers the one on her Wizard, it grows in size when she gets it out and shrinks back down to a managable size when she has finished with it.
I wonder if the bend on the Universal one is designed in, so it can be used as an aid to erectile disfunction? "shudder"

There's a lucky man... I must be spending too much time programming, mine is as new
To bring this only slightly back on topic, I do worry about dropping it and scratching the "glans", in case it subsequently scratches the screen. Even with a screen protector, I notice I've still managed to scratch the scrollbar area.

Sometimes in moments of rush, I find it tedious to have to pull out the pen to use my Universal in VGA mode, I thought what better than to grow my own biological pen.
I grew the nails on both of my index fingers long enough, and cut them at an angle so they form a sharp end. No more worry about loosing pens, and you can instantly control the UI.

Not only that, I find it very useful for other purposes too, such as scratching my ears, cleaning in between my teeth after a meal  and more!
Most importantly it will make your Universal experience easier. It takes only 2 weeks. Drink alot of milk, and ensure you intake enough calcium so your nail grow healthy and strong. You can use a nail file to further sharpen the pointy bit for higher accuracy.
Hope my idea has helped you.
KS
lol thats quite funny and at the same time kinda nasty.
Just out of interest what resolution settings have you used on your Universal?
640x480. Nasty, maybe but its made my life so much easier,i hardly ever use the stylus. 8)
Eugh. A thumb stylus might be a safer way to go.

yes, and the big buttons patch for the phone
wow thats a lot of software you have there
Opps nice one.
Can any one tell me is there a utility like d9 dial pad which ETEN 600.
Doesn't this leave scrachtes on your screen? The nail looks pretty sharp to me.
I doubt your fingernail is harder than plastic, or hard enough to scratch the screen.
Surur
no scratch, but if u have just cut your nails its a good idea to scratch the wall or ur jeans a little to make the pointy bit smooth.
To small
Hi,
I applied the true VGA hack and got it working but now I want to go back to default. Why? I think the screens are to small for comfort.
1. Am I doing something wrong? Can I make the screens/fonts bigger?
2. How do I deactivate the VGA mode? Can not find it in the hack tool.
3. Yes, I know, I'm an s hole: forgot to backup the files I replaced.
Can some1 send me a copy of the following files from the \windows directory of the Universal?
- Backlight.exe
- Camera.exe
- MicrophoneAGC.exe
- Power.exe
- WLanMgr.exe
- WModem.exe
Help would be highly appreciated,
Cheers, Alwin

LOL do you have a girlfriend? Cause if you do, she's not gonna appreciate certain 'actions' with your 'fyngus'.
hahaha, the middle finger would suit that certain job better.
But its convenience, especially in VGA mode, sometimes i just want to dismiss a notification or save a message as read, and it is tedious to have to bring out the pen for small manouvers like that.

I went to there web site and they sell various sizes. I sent them an email and was told it was $11.99us inc delivery and you can have your name engraved free.
Have ordered the P.001-Black will report back when it arrives (and my phone!)
Interesting, I'm going to wait for one that is as small (thin) as the traditional styluses.
IMO They are both truly horrible to look at and are huge!! lol

You are unforgiven, but I bought this phone for its 1Ghz CPU, not for its *idiotic*, screen smearing iPhone imitation "qualities".
The complete lack of precision combined with the brain damaged (un)predictive text input of xt9 turns this whole touchscreen affair into a sad, bread spread distributing joke!

I'd love to have a Stylus for the drawing applications, other than that, I use my fingers.
Edit: Is there a Stylus that looks like a real pen? Does it really need to have that transparent thing at the bottom? Can't they make they end of it smaller?

Well, my only guess is that they couldnt.
HTC had submitted a patent for a "magnetic" pointy-tip capacitive screen stylus.
So my only guess it - that this patent was discovered as unfesible - or - in other words -
It probably didnt work as they expected it to, so the patent is there,
but it doesnt really work.
That's the only conclusion I could come to.
Dagi Stylus
I just got a Dagi stylus, the one that is the size of a pen, and the shipped a second one (smaller) for free. I'm using the T-Mo Mytouch 3g Slide, and they both work real nice.
Dagi stylus - no hands!..?
can anyone tell me if they can use their Dagi without any kind of human touch, that is, without touching the pen and phone directly with human skin ??
Any Have a Ball PoinT Pen
My TynTyn II / Tilt I bought for a few bucks a stylus with a ball point pen.. that way I have a pen just in case why dont any of these have a PEN???
I know I'm not the only one to reapropriate some old leather.

It only took a few hours to do. While it's not protective like a hard-case, it'll keep the dust off it as a place to store. It feels nice in the hand, has a better grip than just the tablet alone and looks classy. The tablet slips in and out easily and the added moleskin elastic band helps the flap from flopping around.
Nice job, I like it! I'm going for Acer's case however

That's rather neat! Tell her to knit the Acer logo into it, too!
That is neat and I bet it keeps it nice and toasty on those cold winter nights. (;
I love the knit sleeve!
My niece is a big knitter and my brother has a tablet.
I've got to show her this pic, she will go nuts.
Great ideas folks, loving the creativity!
Love the knit sleeve - I had a sleeve by Rogue Theory via Etsy for my iPad, it wasn't knit but it fit really snug which I liked.. Can't find anything like it for the Iconia, so this knit one would likely be just about perfect! I don't want a hassle with zippers or velcro!
Thanks for the great idea!
Not self made but I recycled a 10.2 inch netbook sleeping bag for my a500. I don't really care for skins, folio cases or silicon covers as I like the look and feel of my tablet so the bag works perfect for me, it's not a super snug fit but i welcome the extra space for my cleaning cloth and earbuds.
I got it for like 6 bucks at Ross
P.S.
That knitted sleeve is pretty creative but I wonder how well it would protect the tab if dropped.
Well, if it's going to get carried on the train or something like that, I put it in a netbook case, for the extra protection. But, to be honest, I don't think it makes much of a difference, so I try not to drop it at all

The biggest problem with Acer's case is that the tab slips out of it by itself... just sitting there.

My DIY sleeve and Stand
Hi all,
Just thought I'd share my DIY sleeve and stand with you.
The sleeve is nothing fancy but the cloth / foam / cloth sandwich construction makes it highly shock-absorbing. I used wrapping foam found in bubble wrap envelopes
the stand is a PU foam core with cloth cover. I used the official stand as a model, so the 70° "film watching" and 20° "reading" angles are the same.
Very nice, jodokus77. I especially like the matching stand.

Real S Pen tuning by me

I was bored at work and decided to play with a stationery knife...
If you use a stylus often you must know how freaking hard to find button sometimes, especially in the dark. Roughness will help to find a button much faster.
wow this is good too !! so ur thumb will be able to feel the button !! if u guys do not wanna scatch can try pasting a thin sticker... it helps too
all it does im guessing is let you find the button easier.
Since its so smooth and small i and a lot of people have trouble finding the button without looking down at the pen.
If you carve a little pattern into the button youll be able to feel the differance really easily so youll know when your finger is on it.
i might pick up a 2nd Spen and give it a try
Wouldnt it better, just have thin glowing tape and tape it on the button?
That way, can see in when dark too.
good thinking
but i dont wanna my pan look like this
is there any different way?
the glow sticker wont work because it wont get enough light throughout the day to work in the dark since its dark inside the compartment.
other options could be cutting a piece of di-noc carbon film and putting on the button.
Omg.
Just hold it as a normal pen, then twist it a little til u here/feel the click..

You could put a little liquid paper into the grooves that you cut to highlight the button as well.
Might do that myself, as it is I barely use the pen at all... Anything will be an improvement.

I was thinking about putting a thin coat of glittery silver fingernail polish on the button.
I had exactly the same idea. But then I realized that the button is placed in the direction of the ending hook of the stylus and the need for cutting/brushing the button was irrelevant since then for me. Quick glimps on hook tells me where the button is and short roll between fingers is also matter of fraction of a second. But your solution is definetely quicker
