why is this happening?
Have you installed the USB Drivers that comes with KIES? if not do it.
If you want to just use normal mode then goto settings/about/usb/external drive . Then when you connect to pc you goto notifications on andrioid and select USB icon then Mount.

Accessing via Android File Transfer

Hi all,
I have a Tab 7.7 and an MBP running Lion. When I attach the device using a USB cable I can see it via adb but Android File Transfer says that no android device is connected.
Can anybody help fix this please
Conrad
i'm having the same problem...
i've also tried to use Windows, but still cannot copy any files to the microsd or internal memory
When you connect via USB to a Windows PC, do you see "MTP-Connected" in the notification tray on the tab? If so, you should be able to see it as "GT-P6800" in "Devices and Printers" (in Windows 7). I'm guessing that Vista should be the same. Can't say for XP though.
Almost forgot. Don't bother double clicking on the "GT-P6800" icon. Right-click on it, choose "browse files". Alternatively, the same icon should be showing up in "Computer" under "Portable Devices". You can double click that.
Note that I already have Samsung Kies installed on the PC.

USB Mass Storage when connecting to Windows 7 PC

I am trying to connect my Nexus 7 to my PC in Mass storage mode. I unlocked and rooted my tablet and have stickmount installed. In the pull down notifications menu it only allows me to connect as MTP or PTP. When I plug it in and click 'mount' in stickmount, a little window pops up and says 'Active Mounts: None' I can't seem to get it to mount. Any suggestions? I thought it was possible to connect this way with a rooted device.

Try to install mtp porting kit from Microsoft... it worked for me...
My assumption has been that StickMount has no relevance to a USB connection to a PC and that StickMount is used to connect to devices that the GNex controls as a USB Host. I may be totally wrong but with an Android device connected to a PC I've only ever used the PC and never thought of controlling the connection from the Android end.

My PC Doesn't recognize my G2

So I'm trying to connect my phone to transfer some files but I no longer get the USB method selection, the phone is only charging.
I also get a message from Windows after connecting via USB: "one if the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it."
I tried re-installing LG united mobile driver but it didn't work. any suggestions?
