Does anyone of you knows how to ring tones louder on Note 2 with OmniRom ? On the stock android for Note 2 sound is much louder. Too quiet tones, weak sound while listening to music from a speaker phone and a weak sound while watching videos from youtube. A similar situation was in the case of Cyanogenood. The most annoys me is the fact that the alarm is too quiet and i so overslept to work. Do any of you know how to Turn up the volume sound in this rom ?
Look for Boeffla Sound Control in Play Store. This app allows you to tweak a lot of sound related settings, including boosting volume levels.

guys, i see many kernel faux123 sound control. What would be the real advantage of it? Just increase the volume?

It allows you to adjust audio gain and mic gain I think (Not sure about the mic). This allows you to get cleaner audio output out of the headphone jack. I'm not sure what else it does besides that and volume boost, I have not tried it myself.
EDIT: I just tried using it and it's amazing. Audio is louder, much clearer, and generally awesome. It does work with the mic too. The improvements in audio quality are stunning, I don't know how to describe how big the difference was for me. I use Shure SE215 IEMs with my Nexus 4, and it sounds better then anything I have plugged them into now, whereas before my Surface outputted far better audio IMO.

Look into your sound settings, you can select different sound profiles for headphones there.

you seem like you are satisfied with this sort of sound quality ....... in that case you are yet to hear good music quality from headphones on mobile device ...... btw i have tried every possible thing
Do you have 32Ohm earphones/headphones? That could be the reason. The Z3's volume levels will not be good for those types. I think you may need root to boost volume levels. Reviews generally said the Z3 has great audio but let down by low volume when paired with high resistance ear/headphones.
I recently ordered a V-Moda Crossfade M80 28.5 Ohm Headphones, might not get good volume levels but let's wait and see.
What impediance is suggested for this device? I'm wanting to buy a set of buds (with mic) very soon...
i have a pair of audio-technica m50's and i personally think it sounds pretty good just lacks volume but have noticed this problem with all phones not just the z3

Get low impedance ie 16 Ohm as in most standard ear-buds.
I just tested my V-Moda Crossfade M80, it's very loud! 28.5 Ohms impedance. It's on discount for $90 till Feb 1st on Amazon.
Unfortunately, I do not have the same problem. My IEM is playing pretty high quality music for my phone. I had $10 earphones which would always break so I disregarded the one's sony came with and got some awesome Westone UM Pro 10s and I gotta say there is a world's difference. Are you using FLAC, 320kbps, or other high quality music files? Does it happen with just a couple songs or is all of your music just low quality?
Sounds to me like you have a very faulty device. I have downloaded FLAC-files to play through the native walkman app. This phone actually has very good sound straight out the headphone jack! If you feel the phone is lacking volume this can easily be fixed by buying a headphone amp like the Fiio E6 or E11.
Take a look at this insanely in-depth review of the audio of the Sony Z3!

Try with another iem, i use UE900 n its very good for smartphone, its nearly same with fiio x1
Just little more low power
Best sound through headphones from any phone I've owned, coming from a GS3, Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Moto X 2014 Pure.
I'm using Audio Technica ATH-IM03's currently. I've used UE Super fi 5 pro and HiFiman RE400's as well. I have a feeling the DAC used has a greater dynamic range than the phones I previously had. Highs have a nicer sizzle and the low end bass has a low end roll that flows under the music.
This phone has a few short comings and I miss my Moto X for it's features and stock experience, but for the amount of time I spend listening to music, man this thing is solid.
Sound quality is great for me.
Hi,
Some reviews say it's decent, some say very bad.
Can someone really tell me how it is? Is it good if you're driving the car?
Thank you!
(Personal opinion) Its not very loud but it gives a nice sound, a kernel patch to boost volume will be great. Its better and louder then the Nexus 4 for sure.
Pretty good imo. With a little bass even
comparable with an iphone 4s - nothing special good and nothing special bad imho. For hands-free-talking more than sufficient, for music forget it
not for audiophile, but for sure is aceptable for hands free use and for music listening..
personal opinion..
I have one issue, when comes new notification (Whatsapp, Mail, etc...) the sound is distortioned, only the first notification. Like if at sound activation causes this. Anyone with this issue???

The speaker is average at best and nothing to shout about. Fine for some casual radio listening but I wouldn't use it for much else. I just use a bluetooth speaker when I stream music at home
I am wondering about these posts. Perhaps i am not an audio expert but i find the speaker very good. My colleegues at work think the same.
For me the speaker is very bad. too high for me.
The speaker has a good quality bass sound and good volume level, as for me it's great!

I have both US and EU version and external speakers play more or less the same but regarding headphones jack it's totally different. US version plays clear and loud, with Dolby Atmos and hifi on even louder but less clear (fake surround and boosted bass). Anyway in both cases with enhancements on or off sound via headphones is loud, clear, with power, boosted, deeply breathing. Nice.
In case of EU version when i plug the same wired headphones it's night and day worse than US Axon 7. With Dolby Atmos off it's quite quiet and not dynamic, with Dolby Atmos on it's disaster, sound is very low volume and sounds like muffled, covered with pillow.
Please can someone plug headphones and write about her/his audio experience and impression.
Additional request for ppl having as me both version, please comparison is highly appreciated.
I don't know if my EU unit is defective or European A7 just that they are.
Thanks everyone is advance for help and support.

This is probably the case because under EU law the headset volume cannot go over a certain limit. I remember this being the case for nexus phones which i had to root to increase the volume.
More information here:

Thanks, I also suspected so but difference is so huge I thought EU unit is defective.

Yeah but it displays a warning (something that it can damage your hearing) and asks you if you want to turn the volume up anyway.

Yes but there is still an 80db limit under EU law. I remember rooting my nexus and going into a volume change to increase that limit via root access.
So this volume limit is software i guess, but is it possible that also hardware? How to fix it without root? (don't want to loose warranty)

Cant fix without root i think. Its a software limit i believe.
EU version user here.
Thank you so much for this thread.
Listening to music on this thing in the EU version is a disaster.
The volume is the first thing I noticed since I listen to music a lot and transferred my music folder first.
Honestly I do not know about the US version audio but the sounds coming out of headphones on this EU version is simply abysmal.
The normal volume is very low, even when turned all the way up and sound is very unclear and unnatural but once you activate the so called Dolby thingy, the whole sound is completely muffled and you could barely hear anything anymore. So my Dolby is permanently off.
To imagine that they were hammering about the superior audio.
I am coming from Honor 7, which I still have on the side and it sounds so much better with headphones than this phone.
Other than the minor Software problems, I like the phone but still considering returning it due to the sound problem.
I have the EU Version i can't compare to US but the sound from headphones on the axon 7 is slightly better than on my OnePlus 3 it's more clear and it has better snr.
But it's not very loud and with Dolby Setting it's terrible
BTW: i use Poweramp which tries to bypass system EQ etc. i remember testing it with the zte music app the sound was terrible in
"normal" and dolby...
Very obvious I know but you do have headset hi-fi set to 'super' and not standard?
With earphones in (Marshall Mode or Shure se215) I find anything above 75% volume to be uncomfortable and normally listen at 50ish with Dolby turned off.
Sent from my ZTE A2017G using Tapatalk
With headset hifi set to super is slightly better than without but still even not acceptable considering fact axon 7 was supposed to have superior audio with dedicated two dacs and amp for jack output (normally amp drives power and loudness).
I also had European Htc 10 and this thing was incredible crushing with headphones, so loud that I couldn't listen on max volume (thats rare for me, I love music drilling my brain ) so htc could make device with loud and also good quality audio output (unfortunately lacking in other aspects).
Let's ask ZTE to unleash the power of axon 7 potential audio capabilities with hardware they claim installed.

This is just one thing after another. I only bought this because of the sound. Mine is arriving tomorrow and if it's at all disappointing it's going back. I can live with poor low-light photos but after a fortnight using the wife's Nexus 5x I'm not paying €450 for bad sound.
Why would they advertise it as a great audio device in the EU where it will attract audiophiles who will just send it back?
I'm getting one tomorrow as well (now that it is available.... been waiting for weeks now ^^), if audio quality is crap then yes, definitely a deal breaker for me.
I still find Poweramp plays louder than Dolby Atmos on Play Music.
I just got mine. I'm going to update it to B03 now. If it's really as bad as op says I might return it. I'll definitely check with zte before I do so though. It seems like a pretty easy fix to me.

Could you update us on your findings after the update?
I am probably the only one that cannot relate to low headphone sound volume on the EU model (2017G). Sound level is a bit lower with Dolby Atmos turned on. Strange thing I noticed - the predefined Dolby Atmos settings are way less loud than my custom setting (settings: Volume lever On, Dialogue Enhancer Off, Surround Virtualizer On, Intelligent Equalizer Open). If I turn up the volume. under Settings - Sound & vibration - Headset Hifi I have it set to 'Super'. If I turn up the volume it's pretty loud, absolutely no complaints there. This goes for Dolby Atmos enabled (in my Custom preference setting) as well as for with Dolby Atmos disabled. I turn on Dolby Atmos when listening to classical music most of the time, and I found that the better mixed songs often go well with DA enabled. Sometimes I turn it on and on to see which mode is best for the stuff I'm listening to.
I have 2 sets of in-earphones, the one that came with the Axon 7 and my old iPhone 5S one. The iPhone sounds slightly more crisp but the Axon 7 headphones are ok too. It might be better with some super high quality headphones, I don't know.
I never have it on full volume, my ears would hurt. I have it mostly at the EU limit, sometimes over it when I want it louder. I use default music app, HiFi settings on super, Dolby Atmos is off (except on speakers). The quality is the best I've heard on a mobile phone. I used to use Poweramp but I noticed the sound is a little better in default music app. And I use Sennheiser M2 in ear.

Mine arrives tomorrow and I'm not really concerned about it.
The chips are there, Dolby Atmos is there, only thing that should be different is the loudness. I will probably root my phone anyway, but I think it's a big upgrade from my OnePlus 2.

Got the phone (EU version A2017G) and it can barely drive my PC350 headset (150 ohms) with Dolby Atmos activated - barely loud enough :/
I would't count on using higher impedance headphones.
Certainly disappointing... but as someone mentioned, can probably be fixed easily with root and US software version.
