i had just finished watching Thor at 3am and randomly went to about phone and clicked search for update and there it was!!
Running KitKat 4.4.2
I miss the animation for WiFi uplink/downlink i dont know if the phone is doing anywork or no now

Yes...its a performance improvement issue....too much processor cycles were being used up for that animation
You can get that animation by dragging down the notification panel I think

Is there any RAM usage improvement after installing KitKat?
I installed 4.4.2 update last night. Given the news around KitKat being designed for low spec phones, I assumed that it will reduce the amount of used RAM on all phones.
I didn't notice any change: I've got 363MB Free (and am running Facebook->Most heavy!!, Whatsapp, Llama, Avast!)

For me free ram is increased from 338 tp 428 . but may be its due to restart and ram usage is same.

Can anybody upload the OTA file. So it can be manually downloaded.
Please provide updated system version for India.
Settings->About Phone -> System Version (in last)

OTG working for some for others a third party app makes it work in any way
Backup not needed it shall retain your apps.

Hey guys don't afraid about otg .I just try my 16 GB Kingston pen drive and its working .so update and enjoy KitKat .and second no backup needed ok

Well its already confirmed that OTG on indian/asian version is working flawlessly (read/write) without any 3rd party app
Earlier with the american / euro kitkat....otg was broken but they too are now getting a small ota to fix that...
So otg works completely
And you don't need any backup (if all goes fine )
Just get ur battery charged enuff

Is anybody having issues with network connectivity after the update?
I did the update last night and my second SIM was disconnected when I woke up in the morning.
Today, the network went off in both SIM's for some time, and I had to toggle airplane mode on and off to restore connectivity.

I also has same issue actually after switching data or after connecting back too data from Wi-Fi. I think this is a known bug as can found in Motorola forum. As temporary fix just make airplane mode on then off.

So finally after a loong loong time India is blessed with the OTA update
Users have started receiving the update , expect a update in yua phone any time soon !
Can any1 make a cwm flashable zip of the OTA , for the rooted members As i can't update through OTA !

No notif. in my phone yet ! Guess it's rolling in batches , But i can't update even if i get OTA That's y asking to make a flashable zip for rooted users !

ugh... the title said ota captured and i got excited.

I have doubt, how many XDA friends in India have received ota personally.

The version no doesn't have Asia retail.. I doubt this is the Indian version

Yes, india dual sim moto g xt1033

Change file name to Blur_Version.210.12.40.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03.zip than Move to sdcard. Do not put in a file. Go to System Update. It will detect the Update and install it in 10 minutes. You can see in the Pictures. Before and after About Phone.

Yes even i got the update. Downloaded and installed. The official lollipop update is rolling out for the XT1068.

Can someone who has officially updated to Lollipop through OTA received today post a screen shot of Kernel Verison, Build Number, etc.
Settings>About phone.

guys, my phone in non rooted, locked bootloader. (xt1068 from flipkart, india)
i updated to android 5.0.2 from system ota updates, the official update which came today.
It was fine in the beginning. i did a factory reset, and after typing my google password , the phone went
into a bootloop and is stuck in the blue ripple motorola animation.
someone help me.

I´m from Spain. All of you are from India, but is there any person who has recieved the ota from an EU country?

I'm also from Europe, Romania to be more precise and I did not receive any OTA notification. I spoke with an online assistant, asking when will we see an update for Europe versions. The answer was that there is no ETA for Europe but to check the update info page located here, which we probably already do on a regular basis with no success what so ever.

Is it same as the one recieved in soak test?

I've updated my phone via a zip of soak test to android 5.0.2 and it says its up to date when I manually check for an update.
Also when I compared the uploaded screen shots to my phone, I didn't notice any change in the Kernel version or the System version. So in there anything extra they have patched in this version?
Please do tell if any one finds out.

Here in the Netherlands still no sign of Lollipop :crying:. It takes too long and the RAM management bugs are killing me .
I bought a Motorola phone as they would provide good ROMs and fast updates. I've never been so wrong.
Here I also have a Samsung Galaxy S Plus with 400MB RAM running Lollipop CM12 5.0.2. It has no RAM issues.
Running Chrome? No problem m8. Running multiple apps opened in background like music, Play Store, Google Calendar, launcher. Not even a single app gets killed.
My S Plus from 2011 is more usable than my damned Moto G running KitKat (something dies inside me).

i have an extremly weird problem, i can update without any adb error what so ever, but once the phone restarts, i do not have any modem connection, the modem under setting even tells me unknown version! oO i have zero idea whats up,
can someone provide a modem backup that i can flash manualy maybe?

Hi bros. First of all i want to thank to developer for download link. It is working very good on retde version.
I have noticed a speed improvements and several bug fixes.

Is this OTA rolled out in multiple waves? Because I don't have a notification yet.

Hello, this OTA is only a Soak Test, so only selected users get this at the moment. Motorola will roll out the final OTA to all devices starting next week. But this still can take some time for you, because the Update gets rolled out in waves, not to all users at the same time. If you want feel free to download and install the OTA.zip from this thread manually this is just a copy of the original Motorola update File of the one the Soak testers get. It's not difficult or illegal and it works well. I've installed it on my own device. Cheers.

I got this via OTA, did not apply for any soak tests.

anyone else here experiencing high battery drain after the 5.1 update?
today I was at 58% at 12:30 with moderate use. before the update I would be above 70% percent at that hour with that kind of usage

Telus XT1097 5.1 OTA/Update

Hello All,
Today - - July 20th, according to schedule posted on Telus website, is supposed to be the start of the official 5.1 OTA roll-out for our XT1097 RETCA phones.
I am not yet seeing it pushed on my end but eagerly awaiting to test it out. I thought I would start a little thread here so people can post their results, upgrade experience, overall performance etc. [MODS: if this thread is deemed repetitive or unnecessary, please let me know]

Thanks bertiespeed! Good link to have, I was wondering how active those Moto subforums are but it seems like a reliable place. So eager for this to land on my phone. I flashed the stock brazilian 5.1. firmware just to see the overall feel of stock 5.1 compared to 5.0 >> NIGHT and DAY. Huge difference.... looking forward to the RETCA version. I will post back here as soon as I get the OTA notification, for the moment back to NX rom :good:

Update 7/24/2015: All users on Retail Wind and Telus (22.121.11.victara_retca.retca.en.CA) can download and install Android 5.1.
I am unfortunately on the road and cant do anything till after the weekend. If any of you here using the Telus XT1097 RETCA get the OTA please let us know here....

I've been searching for 23.16.1.victara_retca.retca.en.CA full firmware to keep as backup, I still haven't found it. I prefer flashing full firmware using fastboot, rather than doing a system backup/restore using a custom recovery.

Thank you for that, I will try to download it, but I'm not hopeful, downloading a GB from Filefactory could take from 3 to 6 hours, if it ever finishes. Motofirmware still doesn't have it.
OK, downloaded, and flashed all files, no problems (I was on CyanogenMod).
