Solution of wifi issue on kitkat 4.4.2 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi friends. Finally i found a solution for wifi problem. first enter to call screen and dial *#0011# will bring service screen. Press the menu soft key and select wifi. After turn off wifi power saving mode and exit. Thats all. Use your wifi healtly.
Have a nice day

Congrats my friend, but this is not really new
And its not a real solution, because if u disable powersaving Wifi, battery drains super fast without doing anything.

And it ignores modem issues and all the other WiFi issues that surround KitKat and other ROMs. This is not an actual solution. Also you can turn it off in the menu anyway...

Friends. You said true. I still have same wifi issues. I tried the flash Wifi Fix but that didn't work. Have you got any solution ?

Have you odin flashed the correct baseband (modem)?

I have another issue.. wifi is working fine and when i checked it using the code *#0011#, wifi powersaving is on.. but in the battery graph, wifi is continuously on, even though i have switched it off!
Running on wanamlite rom v3.5 and stock repacked kernel by wanamlite..
battery drain seems normal..

I've tried it but it says "Unable to process request"
I'm on Danvdh's 4.4.2 KK latest rom.

Hello,
I answer here to help also someone else in case has the same problem.
Fiest thing: you wrote CDMA module, what variant is?
The GT-I9505 has a LTE/WCDMA module, not CDMA.
Have you touched something with secret menu codes? If you don't know what they are, the answer is no
What carrier do you have?
Have you roaming enabled?
You data plan reduces connection after a total GBs used at maximum speed?
Try to flash latest available modem fw along with latest bootloader, you can find them here

Thank u for ur reply,
First you are right I'm talking about the LTE/WCDMA module, and yes i messed up a little bit the with the secret menu codes but only after i got the issue, not before that.
I'm from morocco so the carrier is a moroccan one called inwi, the carrier does not reduce the speed, when u consume the GBs given the service is suspended.
the issue appeared when i was using wanam lite 3.1 i'm using wifi at home all the time so i couldnt notice until i went out and used data, i noticed that i only have edge in locations that used to give me H+, so when i tried to force wcdma by choosing wcdma only i got emergency calls only.
i messed around before with a couple of bootloaders and modems, I still cannot figure it out
your help is appreciated, thanks in advance
I had the same problem on Wanam. What solved it for me:
Use Shortcut Master (lite) to go to this menu: 4636
Then go to phone information and change the bandwith to something else. Then set it back to LTE/WCDMA or whatever works for you. Strange but it worked for me.

Get the network cable changed or change it yourself.
The only easy "non software" related solution.
Or maybe if it is in the software, tried flashing the stock rom or any ither custom rom after a full wipe.
Mine was with the stock rom but ozcan rom + data wipe has solved it..
Not i get H+ in only wcdma amd E/H+ in auto mode. (depending on the network area)

HELP! WiFi Issues

Sorry I'm a noon, don't do all those font sizes and colours and pictures aha but basically... I've been on CyanogenMod for about a year now and have never had WiFi issues. Been using cm12 nightlies for most of this year with no problem however, after updating my nightly the past two days I've been experiencing WiFi Drops happening every min and a half or so. So annoying. I've used Wifix apps etc, no luck. I've reverted to old night lies I used to run without any problems however the problem stays. I've consider flashing back to TouchWiz to see if that helps it but I really don't want to
Can someone please help me. My phone is on contract and my bill is overdue so I won't have mobile data until it's cleared (around June) so if I don't have WiFi, I'm screwed.

Have you tried flashing a new modem? This generally fixes wifi (and sound issues if there are any)
I barely know what a modem is haha but if that's the case, I'll try today.
Here you have a list of modems. Read the topic as it also has some info and the flashing guide.
You need to go to sammobile firmware checker and input your phone model, country and carrier. Then it will show you the correct firmware for your country and carrier. Based on that, download the modem. Make sure you get the latest modem. If you can't find the latest modem on the linked thread, there was another thread with all the latest modems, but I can't seem to find it anymore.

I'm on 5.02 CM12, I downloaded the latest modem for my GT-I9505 which matched the firmware code for a 4.4.2 S4 however still no luck ffs. This is really annoying, i don't know how my WiFi could jist shut off on me like that :/. Looks like I'm going to have to buy myself a new phone then. Can't use my mobile data for a couple months as my carrier has blocked me until I pay off my bill and now with my wifi disconnecting every 2 mins, I basically cannot use the internet. So frustrated.
I've flashed new nightlies, changed baseband versions, factory reset my phone and still no luck. What makes things worse is i cannot see any other threads with people in my postition so help is so minimal :/. Annoyed is an understatement.

Go back to stock firmware if you haven't updated the bootloader.
If it works fine on stock, then re-root your phone and try again with CM12.

When I dial that code, the phone does nothing...does the fact that I cannot turn on my mobile data stop me from dialing this code? Also, does the fact that I'm on cm12 and not on touchwiz stop me from using this?
& I have no password on my phone and there was no ro.securestorage.support ... I found this "ro.wifi.channels=" if that helps?

BTW in your wifi setting there is no proxy ? did you try to delete settings and do a new one?

Isn't power save automatically off in the settings? It gives you the option to use it in low battery

If you updated bootloader then you can't go back to kitkat roms. Only the 5.0 lollipop roms. But Samsung hasn't released the official update in all countries.
If it still doesn't work, even with official firmware, then it might be hardware related. Maybe even your wifi router.

Hi, i'm going to flash lollipop touchwiz onto my phone using this http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/android-5-...-s4-lte-how-manually-install-via-odin-1492230.
Anything i should know/do before doing this?
Did you flash an alternate kernel?
Wifi issues are often kernel related. Not always...but often.

WiFi switching question.

Hi guys,if anybody can be so kind as to shed some light on this question ,I would really appreciate it [emoji4]
My wife has an i9505 and me a 9500.
I flashed kushan rom5.0.1 for her ,and it works perfect (no problems)
Then I saw on her phone,if I play Clash of clans and the WiFi signal drops ,the phone seamlessly moves to 3g, which is awesome.
Now the problem is ,After seeing that I decided I must also upgrade to lollipop.
I tried two roms so far, namely Prism barebone and Vovad S6 lite.
And it disconnect each time I lose WiFi signal[emoji33]
Is there any fix or reason why it is happening like this,I thought it is the lollipop update that fixed this issue.
Cheers

Could this be due to the kernel.
I don't understand you ; you will have even more problems with android lollipop and secure download enabled + rollback protection !
Just reflash stock kitkat.

The problem is also in Kit Kat .The reason I upgraded was ,after clashing on my wife's phone ,I saw I could switch between WiFi and mobile data without losing connection in clash of clans.
I just don't experience the same after I upgraded my i9500 to lollipop.

Simple inquiry about WiFi when screen's off

Hi there, fellow enthusiasts!
My phone doesn't connect to WiFi when the screen is off. As soon as I turn it on, it's good to go; connects within 2 seconds or so which is great. I'm just wondering why it doesn't connect to WiFi when the screen is off. I've tried every option possible and for well over a year now it just doesn't go thru with screen off automatically. I've switched ROMs, done stock, you name it.
It's annoying to have to take the phone out of my pocket, wake it up, and then check my notifications; it should be doing this automatically. I know it does this with data fine but I don't use my phone like that, I'm a WiFi only kinda guy.
Help me troubleshoot. Any help would be of so much help. Thanks!

Modem: MDM9615M
Bootloader: L720VPUAMF9
ROM: CyanogenMod 12.1-20151012 jfltespr
From what I can gather the WiFi needs to poll more when the screen is off. Once in a blue it'll connect with screen off (may take up to 2 hours) to a known SSID. I'm not concerned about battery life with more polling, honestly. It'd be way more convenient to not have to turn my phone on to connect to an SSID.
I believe it used to work on 4.4 but I can't be sure. That thread I linked to said the behavior started on 5.1 if that's helpful.

The issue you are having was a common issue, but no one has that issue anymore. If I remember correctly that issue happens when you are running an old modem on new firmware. The wifi disconnects when you turn the screen off.
You are using a 4.2.2. bootloader and a 4.2.2. modem with a Lollipop rom. Why haven't you upgraded to a Lollipop bootloader and modem?

Same result. Firmware upgraded to latest.
It's not that my WiFi turns off when the phone is asleep. It'll stay on whatever WiFi I'm connected to, but as soon as I am out of range from it, it obviously will disconnect BUT then it doesn't connect to any other WiFi in range unless I turn the screen on first. That thread I linked you to lists the same exact problem.
I appreciate the help.

Your modem didn't update. Try reflashing the firmware you just flashed. Only this time do it twice. So flash it, reboot phone, flash it again.

I was on L720VPUAMDC when I made this thread, then after Odin it's on L720VPUAMF9. That's the latest, no? What do you mean it didn't update? Anway, I'll try again twice.

L720VPUAMF9 = Jelly Bean 4.2.2
So not, it's still a very old modem.

Oh *slaps self* I see. I upgraded the modem to NG2. Still the same issue unfortunately. I really thought we had it this time. What else could it be?

*edit* Actually...IT WORKS! It connects to a known WiFi network when the screen is off in exactly 4 minutes. Much better than before where it was not at all or hours. You've been completely helpful, dude. Thank you. I just have one more question, is there anyway for it to poll faster with the screen off? As in, can I get it to connect to an open WiFi network under 4 minutes or instantly?

Anyone facing signal problems on lollipop .87?

I was just using my phone as usual, and suddenly my 2 sims didn't work.. there's no sim all of sudden.. i tried on and off airplane mode but still no signal... i have to restart then only its back to normal.. how to fix this?
Because sometimes i need to make emergency calls and this just happens. Its bugging me.
Btw, no threads for general q&a? Hate to post a new thread for something minor bug like this..
I had same problem when I updated to .87..
could not find solution..
so reverted back to .60
which is most stable of the lot..
if your bootloader is unlocked & if you don't have screen freeze problem..
there are many good custom rom's..
try one of them..

check your imei *#06# and about phone info
there is a possibility you have null imei and baseband unknown., this is common known bug when upgrade to LL,
if it is confirmed that you got that bug, navigate through the troubleshooting area, there are many threads discussing about it though. thanx.

factory reset? i think it fix many problems, and aeroplane mode in .87 only help in disabling ur signal, if you happened to swithed on aeroplane mode, after you switched it off, you have to reboot to take effect, then you can use ur phone normally again. it is LL bug on aeroplane mode. no fix for that

Signal Problem..
Borets custom kernel found a solution and you just change from stock kernel to borets kernel, signal lost will not occur..
