I reverted back to stock on my VS980 and I can't retrieve OTA updates anymore, it used to work but, it just stopped working. Now the Computer software update helper is starting to not work as well, somewhat. Does anybody have any ideas what to do?
Anybody have any idea if this can be fixed? I reverted it back to stock multiple times before and this is the first time it has happened. It will get an error every time I try to look for an update.
I have tried clearing the google services framework and force stopping it. Taking out and putting back in the Sim card, it just sits at checking for updates and will keep looping that until I back out, then when I go to status it says update failed.

Hey guys, I tried searching for a possible solution but im all out of ideas. I just got this phone a little over 2 weeks ago (crappy right) and it just started acting up on me and progressively getting worse. Its firmware version 1.1 and its RC33, so the newest update aside from cupcake. This started maybe 2 days ago with my maps application randomly crashing after going to street view and once it force closes it doesnt open again. So I figured do a factory reset. The first thing I do is open maps, go to laitude load my friends and boom force close again... wont open... factory reset... now as soon as the phone starts doing initial setup, google maps force closes, without me pushing a button. Ive called tmobile and they offered to ship out a new phone for me but ive been hoping that I get the cupcake update soon so maybe this issue will be fixed without having to get a refurb phone. Tonight I found out that I can download an update and rename it and use alt L to load the RC33 update. I did that, did a wipe and it is still wanting to force close before I put in my login info for google... I dont understand it at all... Also, I have an application that automatically installs (antivirus) every time I factory reset and Id like to get that permantely removed and foobook and Facebook Sync download all by themselves and install randomly after a reset aswell. I dont want to have to root the phone (yet) just because I want to keep the waranty and I dont want a new phone... anyone have any ideas on how to fix this one? maybe downgrade my RC and upgrade again? any help is appreciated.. THANKS!!!
I'm having this prob too and there's a thread on google com about it but no solution. Still no ideas? I thought mine may be to do with 1.51 update I just did but I've not used Maps for weeks before this so may not be linked.

Dunno if my problem was the same as yours but I did solve mine by clearing the data and the cache in Applications manager in settings.
I did a soft reset just to make sure - then I tried maps again and I was up and running (with Latitude too as I'd just installed JF1.51 Cupcake.
Worth a try? I have Caches on SD but am not sure if they still are as sometimes a reset thru Apps manager breaks the Cache to SD links.

I don't know what's going on but i can't update it...something is wrong but i dont know what....
any idea???
A little more information might be handy..
Do you get a response when manually trying to force update saying that you are up to date?
Do you start downloading and update does not install?
What is the real problem..
If you are getting a message that you are up to date it may be because of removed apps, rooted, incorrect flexrom for your area?
If on the other hand you are getting an error when installing, remove any SD card, unroot device and try again.
Perhaps a full reset of the device after backing up your apps and data to restore the unit back to how it was shipped and try the update process again?
i tried updating to an rooted kitkat version as we as get the Native hotspot going for my Sprint GS4.. however i did something wrong and now. i keep getting pop ups stating "unfortunately, SAE has stopped as well as many other programs.. how can i get this fixed.. i have tried factory reset, and to return to an stock firmware, but i cant get odin to pass. it keeps failing.. I have downloaded all the necessary stock firmware files, drivers etc.. . I can get a recovery to flash,, but the pop-ups for "stopped apps" still appear.. and i cant get pass them.. .
Same issue here
I have tried odin with stock tar and it fails I have no idea where to go next. I am sure it has something to do with the services.jar and services.odex files but how do you get around that.

Dude here is your answer use odin and install clockworkmod latest addition... then download stock kit kat zip put it on your sd card and install via clockworkmod. This work for me cause I was having the same issue. Peace out.
Also having this issue. It started before I rooted. First I did a factory reset, (and assuming that would fix the issue on a completely stock unrooted phone) decided if I was doing a reset there would be no safer time for me to root. So I CF-Autorooted and enabled native hotspot. I believe this is possibly somehow related to my phone and the play market because updating or installing apps seemed to be the common element triggering them to start failing. Google Search would fail over and over every half second after I dismissed the notification making the phone all but unusable, so I did another factory reset, and now SAE (presumably samsung account setup?) is what fails without even the half second in between, completely unusable. I'm afraid my last hope is to one-click it.
So I've been running CM 12 for about a month and today I went to update and afterward my phone was unuseable. After the update I started getting the pop-up gmail has stopped so I uninstalled it. After that I couldn't use the play store. It kept asking me to sign in even though I was already signed in. I cleared cache and deleted data in play store and still the same problem. After This I tried reinstalling gapps to see if that was the problem. After reinstalling gapps my phone kept saying unfortunately phone has stopped working. After clicking ok it would come back up immediately, rendering the phone unusable. I couldn't even get to the desktop to try to get into settings. Before the update I backed up my rom so I was like, "Good for me, I saved the day." Nope. After installing my backup same problem. The only way for this problem to stop happening was to reinstall cm12 all together wiping system and data. I tried reinstalling my backup hoping it would work but I get the same problem.
What's going on here? How do I get my old rom back. I need my contacts back. I don't care about anything else as much. It would be nice to get everything but contacts is the main thing.
I have a Lg730 Venice through boost mobile. I had it for about five months and over the past week I have been getting error messages, for example, when I try to download something from the play store I get a message that says "Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped. If I try to download something off of the web browser I get an error that says the download manager has stopped and I get an error 491. I can't update anything on the phone or install any apps. Before these errors started I was getting an error that said something about a media process stopped working and at the time there were many more processes that would constantly stop working. This prompted me to do a factory reset and after that I was unable to download anything or update anything. I tried the factory reset, I unsynced my gmail account and synced it again and I am still getting the same errors when it is synced and when it is not, so I doubt that it is a syncing issue. I am running android version 4.1.2 and and I never rooted my device; if you need anymore information just ask me.
