I am a total newbie to the Android OS... I have been using the iPhone ever since smart phones ever came out. I am currently in China, and purchased a SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 3 SM-N9006. I am not Chinese, so I can't read any Chinese. I have already changed my language options in the settings menu, but still, there are some complications in the applications that are always in Chinese, and I can't seem to change it back to English. The SAMSUNG store app for downloads are in Chinese, and other basic apps are in Chinese as well. I was wondering if there is any way possible to have the phone's firmware in English as if it were a phone bought in the US.... Please.. I have been searching all over the forums looking for answers... PLEASE.. ANY HELP PLEASE.... if there is a way to get this done, whether by rooting or ROMS (which I, honestly, do not understand how to do)..... could I please have a detailed, step-by-step version of what I need to do?
VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.... THANK YOU COMPUTER GENIUSES!!!!
:good::good::good:
The stores read of your sim card and ip address. So in theory if you were in an English speaking country, it'd show in English

I think changing the CSC to a different country will help you but it may cause other issues (with your mobile network for example)

AFAIK, the N9006 has some complications to it. I don't think you will find any custom ROMs.
If the language of the apps hasn't changed with the language of the system, they must be hard coded in the APKs.
You could try this. Root it, make a nandroid backup and push APKs from the standard N9005 ROMs to your system.

If the sim/location IP are reporting you in the US then yes, the language will be English AFAIK.

Install a custom recovery. Search the forums. There was a link for rooting/installing CWM on the N9006.
There will be an option for taking a backup in the recovery.
After that, just replace the APKs in the system partition with other APKs with some app like root browser.
I also have a N9006. Best bet is to root it and put google apps on. I haven't been able to find out if the firmware is compatible with the n9005 as far as I know the n9005 o ly come in 32gb and the N9006 is a 16gb only.
After you root you can delete all the Chinese apps.
Got a tutorial of how to root using urdlv here.

I have N9006 with kitkat 4.4.2.
May I know which version of CWM have you used? I can't find any CWM for N9006 kitkat anywhere.
Thank you in advance.

Hi, can I get a copy? Also, I am still a newbie to this.. I wrote the post originally, but gave up due to not being able to understand what I was doing... Would it be possible to give me a step by step manual to how to do the whole process.... I think I succeeded in rooting the phone, but I don't understand what comes next.... Thank you

well i didnt root my phone but im actually thinking about it so i want to ask you guys a few questions..
1) my android isnt english (its turkish) so if i root my phone and after few months later i change my mind and i want the default one back. can i have it with all the same exact functions/menus/dictionaries in my language back? i mean my recovered files will be copied just the same way? like i never rooted?
2) if 1 is yes, then can i get those dictionaries to my new rooted one? just for sms typing.. menus and things arent so important tho..
Thanks..
It is possible to unroot your phone. Although in the process all data on your phone will be lost!
You have to backup. When unrooting, use MyBackup, because it's sadly the only way to restore data without root.

Yes, it's possible. But you must find the official turkish RUU.

I don't understand what you mean.. If you root it, and you keep the original firmware, you can get the files from the internal memory (ex. with rootexplorer). But I don't know why you need dictionaries..
Just to clear things out since there is two conflicting answers, francians is right about the unrooting process. The official turkish RUU will unroot your phone given that it contains the bootloader. Flashing back the original RUU will also set your phone back to how it was when you bought it, that is, with all the functions/menus/dictionaries.

dictionaries.. not like english-turkish dictionary.. im not talking about applications here.. what i want to say is, the dictionaries for auto completion when im typing.. or corrections..
for example;
when i write pwncil it corrects me to pencil..
or when i type penc and i press space bar it writes "pencil" (but in turkish of course )

I guess the stock s4 rom is limited. Im running custom. On my tablet which has an international firmware it has full viet language. Maybe you can try flashing a vietnamese firmware or an international one may even work.
its possible to flash an entire rom from another carrier on AT&T? wouldnt the radios be all jacked up?
what is the rom you have flashed with vietnamese language on it? I know its on your tablet but at least it can point me in the rigtht direction

We have alot of custom roms based off the international firmwares for our att&t phones here. Look in the development section for any mga roms. I recommend twlight or goldeneye. They won't flash your radios.

If you're rooted go to system/CSC in root explorer and delete language.XML. it'll enable all languages. This is stock rooted BTW.

The google play store apk won't just install like most apps, it will just crash or stop working, this problem has been mention in other threads for other samsung phones from china and since this forum is international and most users are using the US, UK or international version phone, a custom rom may be hard to get by, you will get a better chance by searching through some of the chinese community forum.
good luck.
Hey, I'm thinking about buying the G9006v too. Will I be able to root and install a custom firmware?

from what i found there is already a root for g9006v, in the chinese forum my chinese is kinda bad so couldnt much of it. I can give u the links if u want.
To anyone who is curious about checking out a Chinese forum for this phone:
http://bbs.gfan.com/forum-1443-1.html
You're required to register to see pictures and post replies to see links. Most of the ROOT methods look pretty much the same as what is going on here so far, so I guess they all trip knox. (I haven't figured out how important or unimportant that is ...)
I tried the following post:
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7340315-1-1.html
and was able to use Odin to flash CWM and then get SuperSU. SuperSu said it disabled Knox, but when I checked (Vol-+Home+Pwr) knox has been tripped. Oh well.
I also got really thrown off by one part of the above instructions, to enter CWM after you flash it with Odin you need to press Vol++Home+Pwr not volume down.

I skim over 52Samsung.com quite often as there's lots of work going on over there. However, you donate to become a member (which gives access to download links) so even if there was something available I'd only be able to link to something you can't get, unless you're in China and have also donated.

I take it you're in China since you're asking about the specific China Mobile carrier locked, single SIM model number.
Most obvious place to go is your local China Mobile store. Or jd.com and Amazon.cn also have them. Should be ¥5,199 more or less.
You don't need a custom ROM with Play Store pre-installed. Just use the root guides on here and flash Gapps yourself - it's pretty simple. And I hope you have a VPN!

1. Kinghu, thank you for the link. I will look into it and donations for it when work slows down a bit. Right now, I'm semi/happily making do with the Apex launcher for the next week, but I am itching to trial a custom RoM. I envy multi lingual users a bit. Must be great feeling to have access to the Chinese sites and to know which you can trust.
2. I know that I'll be staying China Mobile for at least a year - hence I selected N9108v - it is good advice that people make certain to get the right one. I am now using 4G for the first time after not having it on my HK purchased N9005.
3. Any more sites I can investigate - particularly like the MUIU RoM for Note3.
Cheers.
I think it'll be a while before full custom ROMs like MIUI appear just because the phone is so new.
My last Note was the dual SIM Note 2 (7102) and there were only really modded TouchWiz (stock) ROMs. Some were quite left-field!
Might be different though if you've a single SIM phone. I guess we all just wait and see.

Waouh ! The 32go variant
Same specs as N9100 except rom space
No need custom rom.
Option 1
You could try flashing N9100 HK variant via Odin. It has Google play
Please backup before (in case of problem you can roll back to your original rom)
Be aware : it could break your device
Option 2
install custom recovery (cwmr or twpr) then flash latest gapps package (search in xda)
Root is not needed for having play store

Yeah I have tried the gapps several times. I have twpr on it now. I am building a android test bed for working on roms. Good to know about it being the same as the n9100. I will see what I come up with. Another thing that is wierd is it will not update so when they finally release the andriod 5 for it I will have to do something. From what I saw the other day it has already bean leaked.

Hey, just wanted to say, I have the SM-N9108v. I rooted using Chainfire's CF-Auto root, worked great. Installed CWM recovery, worked great. I use X-note rom and it's great but for a few minor glitches. About to redo the entire thing using TWRP recovery and try another rom. The only thing you have to watch out for is the radio. China Mobile 4G LTE is a propietary frequency and if your radio changes you won't be able to use the 4G signal. China Unicomm uses the same regular frequencies as some north american carriers.
Just passing on what I've found out through trial and error.

Seems that you are the right person to get me out of my troubles with this phone. I cannot have proper 3G functionality (i am not mentioning 4G since for sure it will not work outside china). How can i load other modem-radio file on this phone and see if i can fix it?
Thanks!

I Downloaded the stock rom for N910T but it fails loading with ODIN.
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
Today I am posting this thread because of some idiots who are now sharing pre-rooted firmwares for SM-G361F that are full of bloats.
I am sick of that, this is why I upload the archive of the first pre-rooted firmware I got that was at least clean.
You can download it here: https://mega.nz/#!oqpRhZJZ!B18uTiB3TH-QfChoqjgWCNmaPjqInPZbFyI4u9-T8s4
Note: This firmware is ONLY for Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-G361F devices with AOG1 build.
Of course I don't own the firmware and I didn't root it, I just keep the right to upload it.

Although I have no use for it, I did test it out and...
...I bricked my device.
Nah, I'm just pulling your leg! I tested her out and she is perfectly functional. Much better than that, what was her name? Andro-Woman? Or was it Andro-Man?
She seems like a woman to me.
Much appreciated and thanks alot, Hank Cyclone, which is your new nickname.

Glad to hear that worked fine for you (actually there were no reason for this to not work...).

Pre rooted
Hey,can you find SM-G361F pre rooted version for this device?
BaseBand G361FXXU1AQA1
Build number G361FXXU1AQD1
I can't find it anywhere
I love what you're doing. All other pre-rooted ROMS are full of trash. Could you make it for G361FXXU1APA3?
Hum... OK guys thanks for the love but I have to remember you something.
I am not a developer yet and truly not a ROM unbloater: I didn't "disinfect" the firmware, I just reuploaded it (well after a fast check, I found I've already prevented about that, just read the thread please...)
So no dudes I can't do that, sorry. I COULD eventually do that, removing bloats and extract system image to make a flashable shouldn't be as complicated, but I do not have time.
Sorry to disappoint you.
Hey Atronid, you rock! I have the AOL1 but intend to give it a try cause I already rooted it but it's full of bloast. Do you know if I can flash another pre-rooted firmware considering I did this already? could this be harmul? -brickful? )-

I don't think doing this will brick your device, but careful. Ensure the usal requirements are here (OEM unlock, USB debug just in case...) and you made a backup, also in case something goes wrong.
But if you're rooted you got plenty tools that can remove bloats from your device, but I hope you're not easily scared because once removed system may spam that the bloat you just uninstalled has stopped. You can get rid of that by just rebooting your phone.
So you don't need to reflash any firmware if you just want to clean your phone up.
Yes, you're right. The problem was that the apps I tried to remove other apps weren't the right ones, but now that's sorted thankfully On the other hand, as I couldn't find an Android 6 ROM for my phone (not even a sorry recovery.... ) in the end I set my mobile to install new apps on the sd card by default. Actually it works similarly to the app Link to SD, so a part of it is on the SD card and the rest (like the data it generates) in the device storage, despite all the tutorials sell this method as "Installation directly on your SD card". You need a computer and official Android development tools (SDK). In case it's of any interest for anyone I'll include the tutorial I followed, but it turns out I'm not allowed to post links yet, so the title of the article was Cómo instalar aplicaciones DIRECTAMENTE en la tarjeta SD from androidjefe website. In English, How to: Force Android to automatically install apps to SD card from softonic website
I hope it helps

Read first post. I don't think it will work if you have a build other than AOG1.
And you should not use TWRP to flash like this. Use Odin and Download mode instead.
Will this rooted firmware work with my SM-G361F phone? Need advice...
Hi there,
Will this rooted version work with my phone?
I'm new here and need some help and advice re Rooting this Samsung phone SM-G361F - I'M NO TECHIE but have ability to following instructions and make connections etc. My phone details are below.
Baseband G361FXXU1ASC1
Build LMY48B.G361FXXU1AQD1
Patch level is 2017-4-01
Security software version ASKS 1.2_161011
I did once try rooting a Samsung tablet using Odin and it all worked OK, but that was a while ago.
How important is it to get the identical build or baseband? Anything else I need to check?
I was trying initially trying to change the phone's MAC address, as I was experimenting with the phone, however I could not use an App to do this as it stated phone that the phone needs Rooting first for App to work. Also tried Terminal Emulator app but it kept failing to work as I was probably, unable to input the text commands required correctly.
I hope someone can please help and advise me on this.
M
Kind regards
