[Q] What 4.4.2 stock rom do I need? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I need to make a hard reset to my phone, and I want to also update to 4.4.2, but I see a lot of firmwares on sammobile and I don't know which one install.
My phone is free and I don't want to lost knox 0x0, region will be great if its uk one or someone with english default.
Any idea?

You can try out the latest rom from Trinidad and Tobago TTT as it supports English by default.
Also you should know that once you upgraded to Kitkat 4.4.2 you won't be able to downgrade to Jelly Bean back

Is your phone a European model? An N9005 or an N900 variant?, is it a HK Note? What CSC do you currently use?
Dial *#1234# in your keypad and post the results.
Need more information before guiding you..

Hi
It is a sim free italian N9005
Right now it is :
AP: N9005XXUBMJ1
CSC: N9005XXBMJ1

You can root without losing KNOX via Universal Root De La Vega. - then you can upgrade via Mobile Odin Pro and keep your KNOX - have a good read around and understand the process and risks involved etc.

However, once you go to Kitkat you can't go back to JB....
I know its been mentioned before but it really needs to be understood...

Does flashing an official rom from another region trip the knox counter?

Just looking for if this is true or not? There seems to be conflicting info in the general thread about this. Basically does flashing an official rom from sammobile trip the knox counter?
I know in the past with samsung devices I had, the flash counter would never increase as long the rom was official even if it was from another region.
Just interested in flashing an unbranded UK rom to my 9005 so that's why I'm asking.
Thanks for the help.

If you want to debrand this should be alright as long as you use a rom from the same region / country.
So if you have an uk branded phone, you should flash stock unbranded uk and this shouldnt trigger knox.
Not sure about region differences, but that could trigger knox.
But all this updates the bootloader - I'm still trying to find out what the real consequences are.

It's actually a Malaysian phone so I would be switching over to another region with the UK rom. I just know with my galaxy tab 2 you could flash roms from where ever and it wouldn't trip the counter as long as it was official. So it looks like this isn't the case anymore?
I had Australian TEL and flashed UK BTU and it didn't trip. Just make sure you factory reset after flashing to get the CSC to change.

Ok that's good to know. The only other thing then is what is everyone talking about how the boot loader apparently changes when you flash a different rom?
Just make sure you flash a recent firmware. Apparently there were some phones that shipped without a secure boatloader. If you flash one of these over a secured one it will trip the flash. Basically if you a recent firmware you should be fine.

+1 this experience.
AFAIK flashing stock firmwares via odin won't trip the Knox binary counter...

Well if you actually ask a question rather than just saying "what will happen if i flash android 4.4.2 from Spain for Vodafone ??"
To put it straight, you'll have Vodafone's 4.4.2 firmware on your device. It's no different to any other Kitkat except carrier bloatware.
I meant as will it cause a problem as im not on Vodafone carrier!
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Potentially yes. Depends what they have baked into it,could just be Vodafone network, messed up CSC and security etc etc. But then again, probably not.
Word of advice though, seems like Carrier firmwares aren't flashing for people and they seem to work OTA only. The normal XEO Polish ROM works fine for everyone bar HK users.
Thank you, I got my answer.

Carrier firmware is also a lot trickier and might only contain the APNs for themselves and not all the carriers.
Also XEO is known to also have problems on Nordic EU N9005.
Yes I guess you are right @xclub_101 this polish version of kitkat cause me some strange problems and makes my phone restart suddenly when its on standby!!!!!
when I got my phone it was set on French , do you think I should download a firmware for France??
I mean as maybe firmwares for this country be compatible with my phone.

You could try a French frimware and see.

[Q] Can I manually update a KSA N9005 with a THL (Thailand) Firmware

Hello,
I updated my Note 3 to Kitkat 4.4.2 with CSC:N9005OJVENB2 ... AP: N9005XXUENC2
, but I'm not satisfied with battery consumption
I heard that it's a problem with the new update,
Samsung has put a new update but only for a few Regions including Thailand which is the only country without Carrier name next to it (CSC: N9005XXUEND6 ... AP:N9005OLBEND1)
So is it safe to use another Region's Firmware ?
Here is the link of the firmware
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=29167
Thanks
I live in Thailand and have this software I find the battery life to be very average. My note 2 was far superior

I found no difference.

Convert n900t to N9005

I want to ask something please help
I have got n900T varient can i flash Android 5.0 of N9005 to my n900T .. Simply can i convert N900T to N9005 ?? Am in a country there is no t mobile network and its useless to me . the wifi calling is also useless .. So can i simply fully convert n900t to n9005 ?? Thanks
I dont you should flash other rom than that of your own phone model.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
No, converting you N900T to N9005 isn't possible. Flashing N9005 firmware will result in a trip to your local service centre IF Odin doesn't tell you it's the wrong firmware to begin with.
Thanks for reply .. Bith have the same hardware thats why am wondering if ita possible ..
If your problrm refers to carrier check this out how to unlock your note http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475552

1. can i flash the UK (vodafone) lollipop version on my phone via ODIN ?
2. will it trip my knox after flashing?
3. Will i have to unlock my phone after flashing to use Indian sim? (because when i got the phone i did not have to unlock it)
Better if you flash poland one.

What is the reason that I should flash Poland? Because I have already downloaded the UK version .
And is it safe to flash
