I'm now ocassionally getting a wierd problem with my Iconia A500.
I'm running "KJY2010_3.2.1_Honeylicious_Flash_Glass" which has behaved well for a couple of years and I feel no need to change or upgrade.
Without performing any recent updates, I've noticed when typing an e-mail (in my Yahoo account) within Firefox, the input text sometimes has started to be displayed backwards i.e. I type "The bridge" and the charaters are shown as "egdirb ehT". Sometimes the problem doesn't happen, sometimes it does. It might be that it only starts after I've been editing or correcting something, can't say for certain as it's not a very regular ocurrence.
Tried updating Firefox but it still happens.
Once it starts doing it I have to reboot, I haven't tried FC & restart of FF but will next time.
I haven't noticed it happening with Dolphin (or other apps yet) - and I would much prefer to stick with Firefox if possible.
Anyone had a similar problem? Or suggestions (keep it clean)?

Hey all has anybody else experienced this? when I open up outlook to check emails or text messages outlook's background doesn't load up, I can see on the top bar the name of the inbox I'm currently supposed to be looking at but the background is my today screen. I can send new messages but basically I can't read new ones if I try to touch the screen I activate whatever I hit on my today screen. I took off all my today screen plugins, but nothing, if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I would appreciate it.
Sounds obvious and stupid but have you turned the device (hold power button) and back on again? This happens to me sometimes and after a reboot it seems to fix it.
Yeah I do the same thing, the only problem is that it's doing it too often and it's a pain to reset my phone 3 - 4 times a day.
Oh i see. Mine has never done it that often, sorry I can't help any more!
You have a software conflict somewhere - it will be v hard to track down. You could try uninstalling some especially if you have spb products installed as they often are the culprits. But you probably need to hard reset and add programs one by one to find the one.
I had this problem in the past (with old ROMs though)
The way I managed to overcome this is to keep outlook running in the background.
I'm using the Spb Pocket Plus and in the "close button configuration" I added the outlook to the exceptions list. By keeping it running, it always come back with a complete screen (not just top and bottom).
But then again, I didn't see this behavior since I upgraded the ROM; I'm on the 2.26 ROM now.
@gilbnx
Yeah was just thinking of doing something like that more or less.
@meschle
The only spb software I have is spb backup, I always works at first it's just at some point after I've been using the system for a while that it starts doing it. It could be after opening some application and I just haven't noticed. I'll try opening one application at a time and checking to see if it stops working after a certain one, yes tedious I know, but tell you the truth I don't use a whole lotta applications, so I'll stick to the ones I usually open up.
For those of you having this problem, if you are using smartkey, make sure outlook, MMS, Text messaging, are set to be ignored, just like it is in the default smartkey.ini. I had altered the ini and taken out all the programs since I wanted them all to close, but I noticed it started happening after closing outlook with smartkey, so I put it back on ignore and haven't had any problems since (and I hope I won't).
Does anyone else have the problem with htc messaging where it takes maybe 10-15 seconds for a messaging thread to open?
I use my phone mainly for texting and I have a lot of texts on it even though its only 3 weeks old. So its very frustrating when I click on messaging and then on a thread, its so painfully slow. Is there a way to speed things up or is it maybe a rom thing?
Im using duttys v1.8 rom btw.
Yes, it is insanely slow at loading a thread. I have to export my messages regularly, cause as soon as I pass 100 in a thread it begins. Incredibly annoying!
So I am not the only one with this problem.
Some threads are ~350 messages long, and those are a pain in the bottom to load.
would be nice if someone could help us set a limit for the ammount of messages it shows, just like the old windows mobile 6.1
i have the same problem, but i find a sort of solution.
don't close the message application: click menu--> show all message, and stay here.
From this point there's no lag when you open threads. (like bertus i've more then 400 messages for every threads).
I personally clear them all out every so often (bout once a month) and always save anything important to a note file which is then syncronised with my Outlook via Activesync. But I admit its annoying, I get delay when there is 30 messages... lol
Just a thought but have any of you installed the SMS fix so that you can start a new SMS immediately whilst the list is loading. If not i suggest you do a search for it on the HTC website or on this one.
HTH
i installed it 2 days ago. but where's the difference?
i don't understand what it should do. '
...
Got the same problem.. Apart from the iphone, HTC is loading every conversation you have when you open the sms window.
Example iphone only loads 20 messages in 1 page, then you can choose to see older or newer messages...
HTC MUST make a fix to this soon..!!!! Its pretty annoying that it lag.
The SMS fix by HTC fixes the issue whereby you couldnt start to type a new message until the list had fully loaded. After installing the fix you can start a new message immediately whilst the list loads in the background. Hope that clarifies.
I do agree though that the messaging system in sense needs further work to improve it but this fix goes some way to improving it.
HTH.
tnx manimal i understand now.
Is really frustrating when the phone finishes to load the messages and the focus goes to the last one and you must re-select the type box for seeing what you are writing o.o'

I agree but at least you can make a start. I also noticed that even though the focus changes to the last message if you carry on typing it will insert whatever you have typed when you change the focus back the message input box.
You can type while it loads, yes, but the the typing becomes laggy and it doesn't catch half the buttons which are touched. I have tried to contact HTC about this, but there was no understanding to the issue...
By far and away the best solution to conversation lag is for HTC to do as others have suggested and only have the application load, say, the last 20 messages, or at least allow users to configure the number of messages loaded in conversation view. In truth, it could be less than that. Most of the time, all you really need to see is the message you're replying to. It'd be nice to have a halfway-house which offered this functionality. Like for example if you clicked on reply from the traditional view, it would have an option to show the message you're replying to at the top of the screen. Perhaps there is already a way to achieve this?

+1! ... The most annoying thing about the HD2... Makes me wanna throw it away and go all apple again... but then i look at the big screen
Haha.. yup, me too!
I hope, they will fix it in the next rom update.. So it doesn't load every message...
my longest conversation is around 50 messages because I prefer e-mail to sms, but although I have both sms hotfixes, it's still laggy. I don't want to know what it's like with 350 messages gj htc you failed again
is there a good 3rd party messaging program we can install to deal with this problem?
I actually think they should just go back to the regular inbox instead of htc messaging like on other windows mobile phones. that one is a lot faster although less flashy.
this is really frustrating me and I think I might give up on this great device because of the messaging lag and also because it freezes up on me at least twice a day.
Its too bad because it has a lot of potential.
Hi all,
Lately I've been having one hell of a headache because browsing on one network of mine is painfully slow. So much so it's not even worth trying.
It goes like this: Google.com and usually Google search results load instantly. No problem. Then anything beyond that (loading a result or manually inputting a URL) takes FOREVER and usually results in only the top of the page loading with the completion bar stuck on around 75%. Refreshing, clearing cache, etc. etc. made no difference.
It's def not a problem with the network - no other devices suffer and speed tests show no real slowdown.
I Googled a fair bit and found a couple of posts on other forums where people had the same problems with rooted devices. Someone suggested disabling AdFree and giving it ago. THIS FIXED IT! Disabling AdFree, for whatever reason, caused the slowdowns and partial loading of webpages to stop completely.
So my question is - why? As far as I'm aware AdFree just overwrites your HOSTS file with one which redirects ad servers back to 127.0.0.1, something we've all being doing on our PCs for years. It appears that this loopback to localhost is stopping nearly all of the rest of the webpage - everything bar the very top in many cases, possibly because that loads before the first 127.0.0.1 loopback.
So why does this happen under Android, or under certain Android builds? I'm using NexusHD2 based on Gingerbread 2.3.4.
Since reverting back to a clean hosts file, I've got no problem with browsing. Switching AdFree's host file back on causes the problem to return.
Bump!

Hi, so I've been having a serious issue with my Oneplus Two that I've been trying to troubleshoot for 2 months now and I feel like I've done everything but still have the issue. Wondering if I can get a second/third opinion or something.
My OS is currently Oxygen 2.2.0.
I've noticed many of my apps very frequently crash to the launcher when attempting to do specific actions. No messages, no "app has stopped responding". Just freeze, then launcher. These actions include:
* Opening an email in gmail
* Searching for something in Google now (what's funny is Google New will respond, and then mid-sentence stop, and boom crash, every time)
* Opening specific pages in the Steam app that looks like it loads web pages in the app?
* Pretty much every time a webpage is loaded in an app.
It doesn't crash every time, but I would say 85% of the time it does. After doing some research I started to look into the Android System Webview app as a possible source, since the phone runs flawlessly in every other aspect with no crashing, except when I specifically do those actions listed above. Also, when I notice that it keeps crashing, I've force stopped the Android System Webview app, then went and tried to open an email for example and it works. But 15 minutes later it begins crashing again.
What I've tried:
* Force stopped the ASW app
* Uninstalled all updates to ASW
* Re-installed the updates to ASW
* Factory reset the phone (what's funny about this one is even after factor resetting, there's a point in the initial setup where the setup app actually crashes when it tries to load the Google authenticator page and goes back to the beginning, thus making it impossible to complete the setup. Eventually after trying like 20 times it doesn't crash and allows you to complete.)
I'm convinced it's ASW and that's the only thing that makes sense, but I've tried everything to get it to work but this problem is still present across multiple factory resets and TWRP installations. I'm at a loss. Any ideas?
Strange, works great for me every time. Did you delete /Android/ folder when you resetet your phone? Maybe the failure sticks in there.

No I didn't, I just did the standard TWRP wipe data/factory reset bit. I'll give that a shot though and see if it helps. Will edit back with results.
Uninstall updates of web view and see the difference.
If problem persists than format and don't update web view.
Hello all,
First of all, if this is wrong section to ask, please move to the right one, also if there is already solution to my problem I appreciate link =)
So my problem is, according to title: Microsoft OneNote. When I start new note, it runs smoothly for about one minute or less, after that time it starts to lag. But it is more like display is lagging or it is just not rendering. For example: I write down 2 sentences. When writing third, it is not showing any typed characters, keyboard is running -> one sec stop / freeze -> show all typed characters like superfast typing (not showing all at the same time, but one by one very fast). This stage is relatively OK. Next one is more problematic, because after some time, even keyboard freeze and there is nothing I can do. One temporary workaround is to go to Home screen & back, but it is temporary and after 3 to 5 times the only solution is to terminate app and wait some time and repeat.
This is bothering me some time, maybe a year and it is really annoying. It is not happening from the beginning of using OneNote.
My observations:
I tried to watch CPU usage (greed, red, blue bar) and when it is lagging, red and mostly blue bar is popping. When the screen refresh (when characters are typed) blue bar "dissapear"
Reinstall is not working
No battery saving is set on OneNote
No update of OneNote fix this
Latest version of MIUI is installed
Tried to switch to default launcher (Nova launcher is what i use)
Tried to switch to default keyboard (Swiftkey is what i use)
Force rendering 2D in GPU
Turn off MIUI optimalization
Turn off OneNote sync
And maybe something more I forgot.
Another apps run smooth and have no problems at all. Just OneNote.
Really don't want to put my phone to factory reset...
Is there something I can do to fix this? I Use OneNote on PC and like the sync between devices (used Evernote before), so another app is not a solution.
Thank you for reading, more thank you for replying and my greatest thank you for solution =)
P.S. Sorry for my not very good english.
