well it is working now, it makes calls and sends/receives texts now.
it happened last night when i was sleeping and continued until an hour or so ago.
i still have the two arrows and X that say no data connections though, even after a reset, and one text remains in the outbox no matter what.

Are you running stock rom? Did you install anything prior to this happening?
i am on the stock ROM, i have quite a few things, the most recent things i installed were a few games. i don't think they would be the culprit

Well, not really sure what's going on with that, but I think I would do a hard reset to make sure it isn't a software issue.

yeah now i have a text that stays in the outbox that sends every time i turn on the phone and even when i clear all my texts they show right back up after a reset. i'm going to flash to the newest official ROM (because apparently 2 were released within a week or something) since i have to hard reset anyways.

Good luck with that...but I heard there were some issues with the newest official release. Have you thought about flashing to a cooked rom?
I have been using my Evo for about 2 weeks now and 5 days after I got it, when I used foursquare or Google Maps, the GP would start up and the phone resets. Then its fine for an hour, then does it again.
I have ATK, Foursquare, Bank of America app, and the Facebook App. I have it hooked up to my personal Exchange 2010 Server (no forced PIN, etc).
I've done two hard resets on it...
Is it defective or is the HTC software buggy?
Did you get all the ota updates?

Yes, and I've only did the update once.
I've had this happen to me on more than one occasion, except I had more things going on...
Having Google Navigation going and Pandora playing music in the background, it works fine. Then someone calls, I pick up, talk for about a minute, and then the phone restarts.
Probably just confusing the kernel and causing a kernel panic.
I hope it's not a no-no to post links to threads in other forums. Here was a thread where I discussed a similar problem:

A "hard" reset fixed it for me.
+1 on the hard reset. Had the same issue with reset. Do a hrst.
Sent from my PC36100
a hard reset worked for me too.
I have random reboots issue as well, it happens very rarely and I don't see any rhyme or reason for them. I talked to Sprint and they told me to get my phone replaced, which I'm in the process of doing, but I had to have my Evo special ordered since all Radioshacks in my area are out of stock.

download and install the compass program from the market
when you load it, does it reset?
if so then there's a gps bug that resolves with a hard reset.
How do you do a hard reset? is that where you turn it off then while holding the power button, hold down on the volume button and do "clear storage"?
If so I've done that multiple times...I'm trying to leave the Exchange off and see if thats the issue.
Hi I have the EXACT same issue!! I was wondering if it was just me. Whenever I've used GPS, sometimes my EVO would randomly reset and shut off! This is REALLY scary actually when you're driving on the highway or something...and it did happen to me before. I really wanna figure out how to get this solved.
Is the hard reset the only way? Will that unroot the phone and return it to stock, meaning you have to do the whole process over again?? Thanks.
Hi there my xda-friends!
Every since I updated my phone to Froyo (official) I've had two problems. I unrooted my phone before I updated to 2.2.
The first one is pretty strange. A friend of mine says that my phone sends him a text with about five minutes delay, which says that I have received the text he sent me. He also has a Legend with Froyo on it, but so does my sister, and she doesn't receive any texts from me (except the ones I sent her of course).
This can be solved by restarting my phone, but it begins sending "I've read your text now"-messages to my friend again after about a day. Both me and my friend have tried to remove our conversations and such, (oh, and I still see the sort-by-time bug with my texts, but I think that's because the messages-app doesn't sort my seconds, only minutes).
The other problem I have is that I can't receive calls after a random amount of days, and I can see that my mobile-internet is trying to connect, gets a connection and drops it after a few seconds, and repeats, seen by the internet-icon in the system-bar(?). Then I know something is wrong with my phone (this time, I wasn't able to receive calls).
But again, this can be resolved by restarting my phone, but that shouldn't be necessary, everything worked in 2.1!
I would like Not to factory reset my phone, if you guys have any tips I could try before I'm forced to trying force-resetting.

Alright. That's too bad. But now I've factory-reset it, and so far it feels a little snappier than before, and I got the new market-app with the green skin almost immediately, so maybe something was aching up
Hello,
Lately I have been unable to send or receive text messages that contain pictures or videos. The error message is always the same "National access coverage not available."
I called Verizon, on Thursday of last week (1-13), and the technician was unable to figure out the problem. He escalated it to the next level and said that someone would be contacting me in a day or 2. Well it's now Wednesday (1-19) of the following week and so far, nothing!
Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, what's the fix? Any help would be appreciated, especially since Verizon has been no help at all!
I'm using a Moto Droid2 ver, 2.3.2 Rooted and OC'd @ 2.25Ghz
Thanks,
Scott

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, it didn't work. I updated it waited the 15 minutes. When it didn't work I rebooted the phone figuring maybe it needed to be refreshed or something, (long time windows tech, reboot fixes everything!) but still nothing. Just that same message.
I get the exact same error when sending or receiving MMS 50 percent of the time with the first initial try... *228 does not fix this.. verizon cannot fix it either...
OK, got tired of waiting for Verizon to call back. On the phone with 2nd tier support now for about the last hour, so far nothing.
Mine started doing that on mms after using juice defender app and I had to do a factory reset to fix it.
OK, got finished with the Verizon tech, who was very helpful, but we still could not resolve the issue.
She removed and reloaded my data from the server, switched me to another IP address and did a few other behind the scenes things but nothing worked. She suggested doing the factory reset, but I'm ready to give up troubleshooting this issue yet. If all else fails, then I guess I will have no other option.
Since sending MM text's in not a huge part of what I use my phone for, I may just wait for the next release of the software and hope that fixes it.
In the mean time I'll just keep playing with settings and searching Google and the message boards in the hope that someone can come up with a fix that doesn't involve having to wipe it.

I used to use that app, but removed it long before this started happening. I wonder if it left behind some orphan files that are somehow in there wreaking havoc?
Since the problem still existed even running the phone in safe mode, I would think that would not be the case, but anythings possible.
my phone does the same thing with same message... if i try again to download message it will usually come through, but if it happens on outgoing message it will never go through

That's the thing. Since so many people are having the same or similar issue, I just find it hard to believe it's not something on Verizon's side or with their software. This many people screwing up their phone's in the exact same way all around the same time just seem a little suspect to me.
Mine happened 6 months ago. Just reset it and see what happens. All your apps with reinstall by themselves.

Yeah, I guess I'm going to have to try something. I want to make a nandroid backup first just to be safe and then I'll give it a shot.
Thanks.
This is great!
So, I just finished the factory reset (which DID fix the problem) and was starting to configure all my custom settings when the Verizon tech I spoke with called me back. She said that she had just spoken to Motorola and they said it was a known problem with their phones! They are not sure what it is yet, but they are working on it. In the mean time, the only thing they can suggest is to reset the phone as a work around!
I asked the Verizon tech if there was any kind of documentation about this that she could send me, but of course there isn't. And there's also nothing on the Motorola site about the error either, at least nothing I could find.
While it doesn't make the situation go away, it does make me feel better knowing what the root of the problem is, sort of. Only problem is, there is no guarantee that it won't happen again.
i turn airplane mode on then off... works for me
Im having the same problem. I even reflashed to stock motorola, still does it. I noticed if i hold down on failed pics or tap download a few times it works. The problem seems to be triggering the data on and off from the send button.

Yes, I had heard that worked for some people, and I did try that but it still didn't work. Even so, that would only be a work around and not really fixing the issue.

Interesting, since I did the factory rest I haven't had a problem. If it happens again, I'll be sure to check that.
For almost a month now I have been dealing with this problem. I have tried everything I possibly can, and still problem exist. I have factory reset the device about 10 times and it pops up right after setup, and drops LTE like crazy. I have re flash the stock images from google multiple times to no avail. Also when someone calls it goes straight to voice mail when that error message pops up, and also when I try to dail out it instantly hangs up when I click call. Some times when I call out and the next party answers, I will still hear the phone dailing after they have picked up and started talking. Can someone shine some light on this, only had the device since Feb this year, and Huawei giving me the run arounds.

Yeah but I notice if I put a sim card in the phone, and about a few minutes later it starts. Seems like the sim slot is going out.

Okay, then you should restore stock, re-lock, and take it to the service centre.
