You need to wipe data and cache after flashing if it is on a Boot Loop.
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Just Factory Reset Your Through Stock Recovery....And You Will Be Good To Go
Ive done the factory reset and wiped data, dalvick, and partition wipe as well, and still nothing

First, do a battery pull. Then boot into CWM Recovery, once in recovery whipe dalvik cache (Twice) then whipe data (Twice). After that reboot the phone and it should start up normally.

You shouldn't have to have a ext4 partition to use the phone normally. No repartioning should be needed.

Correct, that is what you should do.
If I wipe /system partition from CWM recovery it doesn't touch the virtual sdcard does it?
Pretty sure it doesn't but wanted to check I dont lost all my pics

No. Just don't use the "Wipe Data" option. Factory reset is OK. It preserves the SD.

Thats what I thought.
Factory reset
Wipe system
Flash ROM
None of the above touch the virtual sdcard and will give a completely fresh system install

The only fresher would be ...Awesome...'s wipe script. It wipes the boot partition as well.
So I installed TWRP with the no root method, then I rooted.
I wanted just to wipe cache/dalvik but it seems to take forever.
How do I Hardreboot or get out of this loop?
thanks
ok problem solved, so wiping cache takes like forever...never mind
I got scared first time too!
Then I read in Clean ROM post #2 "For faster wipes go into TWRP settings and choose the option "rm -f". Then wiping cache is normal.
mkext4fs takes a long time for some reason. You'll see the same thing if you ever have to wipe system in TWRP.
I waited so long I almost stopped breathing....
Thank god
Others are saying the same thing. I should have went to settings and changed it. I can confirm it is taking FOREVER!!!!!!!
I never changed any settings in twrp, and it does not take me forever to wipe cache. No idea why

Hey just flash the 2.6.3.3 twrp, comes in zip format too just flash....has fix for long wipes....
And supports 4.4
I rooted using ioroot, flashed twrp with freegee. Just curious if I factory wipe will I lose root?
Also, is it best to factory reset from the settings menu or through twrp?
I'm used to running cwm on a gnex, so this is a whole new set or rules to learn...
Thanks!

Yesterday I was factory-reseting my D802 with Volume Down + Power buttons. After that it was still rooted. I suppose the same would be on D803 too. I don't know about custom recovery though, as I used stock one.

You will keep root after a factory reset.
I always factory reset in my recovery app. Simply custom wipe data and cache. Then wipe dalvik cache.
If you want to flash a new ROM, just custom wipe system, data and cache. Then wipe dalvik cache.
Hi, it might sound as a noob question but does wiping cache partition in stock recovery do anything?
Reason I'm asking is that I remember doing it on my previous phones (in TWRP) and the phone would take quite some time to reboot afterwards and show a dialog such as "android is starting, optimizing app 1/100"... I wiped the cache partition in stock recovery, logs say that the cache was wiped but the phone reboots in seconds (I see no difference with a normal reboot), so I'm curious...
Thanks!

That was because you wiped the dalvik/art cache. Can't do that in Stock recovery.

or maybe it was wiping Dalvik in TWRP that caused the phone to take longer to reboot, anyways when Android is updated the phone goes through app optimization at reboot, can anybody clarify please?
thanks

Why is there an option for it then? Does it just do nothing?
