[Q] Disable LG G2 OTA Notification - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I've managed to fix my LG G2 from an OTA app update following this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
Now whenever I restart my phone I keep getting the message that the update is available and ready to install
The question is: How do I delete the downloaded OTA file update or disable this message permanently since I cannot install it being rooted with TWRP?
Thanks

I would like to figure out if this is possible too
I am on Stock ROM
D801
Rooted with TWRP 2.6.3.2

Not working every day the notification pops up and I have to select "not now remind me in 1 day" since there is no longer choice

If yournusing the framaroot app, just unroot, update then reroot, works for me.

This was discussed in detail here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2247243
Unrooting using Framaroot, or use OTA Rootkeeper. Either way works, but be sure to reboot after unrooting. Otherwise you will just get the same error message about the system being modified. Also, if there any any bloat apps frozen or uninstalled, you will have to undo that (in addition to unroot) for the system to come up as not being modified.
This is a rather stupid move on Samsung's part.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda app-developers app
Kies will still work for the update though, even modified, at least for me. I did however set Kies up with it stock & then selected the "Auto download updates" feature in Tools / firmware upgrade settings, so if there is an update, whenever I plug the N8 into my laptop, it tells me an update is available & then gives me the option to install it now or wait.
Even stranger though is that even modified, I can select to reprovision & install factory firmware (Upgrade & Initialization) on the Note 8, but now on the Note 10.1 once it says "modified" status, you lose the ability to provision & reset with Kies & you get the "N8013 does not support initialization" error, even though both are now running the MD3 firmware. Go figure.
Framaroot from the play store works to temporary unroot for purposes of updates. Just install it abd choose the option to temporarily unroot, then reboot and check for updates. It will download and install the update. I recommend another reboot when its finished. Then load up framaroot and restore root. All in all with a fast internet connection the whole process may take 10 minutes.

I tried using Framaroot to unroot my rooted N5100. I then checked for updates and it told me that they are not available to modified devices. I then even tried uninstalling everything and doing a factory reset and im still not able to check for updates. Any idea how to get my device back to the way it was out the box so i can check for updates?

No. The new boot loader checks the system partition for changes. So if you even have the SU binary or any other modified or new files in the System folder or any subfolder, it will not work for updates.
On other devices, like the Note 10.1, you have to revert to an older boot.img to be able to keep the status as unchanged. Unfortunately, that doesn't exist for the Note 8 as far as I know.
I have modified my multiwindow to work with all apps. When I used rootkeeper I was still able to update so I giess it works with some mods but not all.

I bought my Note 8 on June 11th and it received an immediate update. I rooted with Framaroot and a few days later I received another OTA update. But now, after that, it says it can't update and I can't get it to unroot...

Sprint update available for me.

There is a 110mb update available through sprint for me called ls980zv7_01_to_zv8_13. Do I need to unroot before applying this update? I don't want to brick my phone again.

Prevent Verizon OTA

What .apk do I need to freeze?
I've looked around but can't find a straight answer. I can't find the sdm.apk suggested in other threads. I found a SDMPlugin.apk. Is that it?
I'm currently running VS98011A with TWRP 2.6.3.3.
Thanks
Edit: I think its Software update MUC 6.4.1.2_B02-LG
Old post, but since I'd like to know this as well, to prevent any Verizon OTA updates, I'm giving it a bump. I'm on rooted 12B, no TWRP installed.

I have the same problem, but I cannot find Software udpate MUC 6.4.1.2_B02-LG on my VS980 G2, nor can I find any obvious OTA updater software. I cannot long click on the update notification, and if I try to take the OTA update it errs out as mentioned by others previously (I have only rooted and done the wifi hotspot mod).
Can you tell me where to find that update file, or what exactly to freeze on a VZW G2?

If you have Titanium Backup, scroll through the apps under "Backup/Restore" until you find "Software update MUC 6.4.1.2_B02-LG". Long press and the "Special Features" menu appears. Swipe right to get to the "Backup Properties". Select "Freeze!" That should do it.

Thanks for that, I appreciate the very specific instructions. Out of frustration, I flashed the XDABBEB's VS98024A custom ROM and it is working nicely. So I guess that will solve my need to freeze the OTA update.

I've had my eye on that ROM and have been following the thread but I've been hesitant to install a ROM on my new G2. ROMs always have something that doesn't work right and right now everything is working fine on the G2 (well, except I can't get KitKat but I don't think I want it anyway). But this ROM seems to be one of the more stable out there. Post an update into the XDABBEB thread after a few weeks letting us know what you think of it.

Had the same issue a few days ago. TWRP, CWM, and Philz wouldn't flash properly, but I'm pretty sure it was my fault. Currently I have CWM installed by FreeGee (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.shell.freegee_free).
WARNING: You should know that there is a risk with using FreeGee. If you don't plan to use download mode, you're good. But currently, I am without download mode after flashing. Still trying to figure out a way to fix it. System works, recovery works, but I cannot revert to stock at the moment.

OK, let's return to the start.
1. You're sure it's rooted and SU is working? Rootcheck is on the play store and you can use that to check
2. In FreeGee, did you tap on a recovery on the bottom? And did FreeGee freeze on this step? Did you give FreeGee root access/permission?
3. If FreeGee installed a recovery, it won't automatically reboot. Have you attempted to reboot into recovery? If you're not sure if it has installed, I would not recommend going through the hard reset page because if it's not actually installed yet, you would go through a factory reset. You could download an app to boot into recovery though (I.e. CWM ROM manager, TWRP, or quickboot. All free on the play store.)
