[Q] i9505 5ghz WiFi Issue - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

At home I have a 2.4ghz and 5ghz Wifi network setup.
My S4 is always connected to the 5ghz and has never had any problems. My partners iDevices are also connected to it.
The other day when I got home I noticed that I kept getting the error 'Your internet connection is unstable' and couldn't use the 5ghz if I wasn't directly in front of the router. No settings had changed, no updates etc. It will discover and connect to the network but it won't load webpages or anything.
There is no new firmware for my router, I have tried all the different channels, and have even reset the router, and as a temporary fix I've only been using the 2.4ghz network. My iPad still works fine on the 5ghz anywhere in the house, and my partner has had no issues.
Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone have a solution?
I'm running the stock 4.3 on the phone as I haven't even tried flashing it.

did you changed some wifi settings on your phone ??
cos if that happens you have to match the settings same both on pc{ of router } and phone
even if you are sure that you haven't changed anything just make sure and check the settings again

ICS WiFi Issue: Possible Fix?

I updated my UK Galaxy Note on Vodafone, yesterday. Immediately encountered a WiFi issue. The connection to my wireless router kept disconnecting then connecting, but sometimes didn't actually even connect. I changed the WiFi frequency band setting (Settings>Wi-Fi>Advanced>Wi-Fi frequency band) from "Auto" to "2.4 GHz only" and this seems to have fixed it. It seems like common sense, but I thought I'd post it anyway as people are having issues with their WiFi on ICS.

I had a similar problem. I have a cisco linsys router.
Anyway I flashed the latest modem LR1 using PC odin (modem.bin) and things seem better so far.....

Changing Wi-Fi frequency band) from "Auto" to "2.4 GHz only" didn't fix it for me. Strangest thing is i have no problem with wifi at work while it doesn't work at home wifi. Notebooks get connected to internet at home with no problems when my Note connects wifi but only connects to internet for few secs after first time it gets connected. Then it loses connection to internet even though it still shows up wifi is connected. Any clue on that ?
I've noticed I've been having momentary WiFi disconnections ever since I upgraded to ICS.
I'm using MyPhoneExplorer to transfer files wirelessly to the device (not via USB), and ever since ICS it has became an unreliable way to transfer files. If I transfer a big file most chances are that the WiFi connection will drop during the transfer, causing it to fail.
The connection is restored immediately but then I have to restart the transfer process as it halts when the connection fails.
I have excellent signal level (physically located close to the Access Point), I tried flashing the latest modem firmware (XXLR1) - twice, I've set "2.4GHz only" in the WiFi advanced settings, all to no avail: I still get these connection drops.
Has anybody got any information about this problem? Been experiencing similar problems?
Thanks!

[Q] My Nexus 4 conect in Wi-Fi but don't access web

Guys, recently bought a Nexus 4 and it normally connects via wifi but can not connect.
I was using the Android 4.2.2 OTA updated to Android 4.3 and the problem persists.
The Nexus 4 connects normally, but the icons of wifi connection and carrier signal are gray instead of blue and even trying to install applications via Google Play or simply access a site via browser do not work and accuse the connection fails.
I was tested and the router's signal is good and other equipment that I usually work (other Android smartphones and notebook).
My router is standard G and I use WPA2.

Oddly enough, I have the Nexus just 3 days and only had access to the router so far from home, but today I'll look for a router to test the public.
But either way it's frustrating the Nexus 4 have these compatibility issues when connecting to a wifi router.
Before making the switch router, is it not possible to find out which configuration of WLAN could cause this? Does Google do not have this documented?
i feel your pain, been there
it could be your router, from the way it assigns ip addresses to your type of encryption. by any chance is it a linksys G router? that was my problem before until i just decided to get an N router.
did you try switching to WEP or open to see if the problem persists? or changing your gateway ip address? or changing which ch your wifi is on?
never hurts to try
Should factory reset your router and upgrade firmware first, then immediately connect to it without encryption and see if it work.

Wifi stays connected but loses internet access

After the upgrade to Lollipop on my Yoga 2 830, I'm noticing that the wifi gets no internet access even while connected every so often. I have to turn off and turn back on the wifi for it to reconnect. Is anyone else having this issue? I don't have any issues w/ any of my other devices connected to wifi.
I'm not on static IP, no issues with the router. I didn't have any issues on kitkat. Please share if you also have this issue. Thanks.

Hello!
Did you try connecting your device to another wifi network to see if the problem persists?
I have noticed something similar happening with my Xperia Z ultra after it upgraded to lollipop. I realised that it was happening only on the older wifi routers (I use an ancient Linksys WRT54G), but seems to have no problem with the newer ones.
Changing the channel of your wifi router might help alleviate the problem. I am not certain if it would work in your case, but if you do not have another router handy, this just might do the trick. If you are looking to change the channel, an easy guide is available here.
I hope this helps
I've got a Netgear AC1900 nighthawk with a netgear ex6200 range extender. The tablet is primarily connected to the 5ghz band on the nighthawk. I do have other routers but they are older. I might have to try to take it to work and see if I lose internet access.
I've changed the bands around and it does help. I've rebooted the router, rebooted the tablet, forgotten the wifi and so on. It's still happening after some time. By the looks of it, there are others that have experienced this on other devices. I haven't done a factory reset. I would prefer not have to go through the setup again.

N4 wifi problem, help please

My N4 is no longer able to detect my home network. It detects my neighbor's network and several other networks, although it cannot connect to any other network. When I try to connect to a detected network, it just says "Saved". My home network is working fine and several other devices in the home are connected to it. In fact, my wife's N4 is still connecting with no issues. I have tried rebooting the phone, rebooting the router, telling the phone to forget the network, changing the channel on the router, no success. Running version 4.4.4.
Any thoughts on what might be wrong or ideas for a fix?
Thanks,
b
You haven't inadvertently switched the WiFi frequency from automatic to 5GHz have you? It's just that I had a similar problem and that's what had happened.

Strange 5GHz problem with G6

I’ve got a very strange problem with my LG G6.
I have always been able to detect and connect to all wifi, including 5GHz, from any router. Recently I’ve noticed that my G6 cannot detect the 5GHz from a certain router we have in our home. It can detect 5GHz from any other router (in or out of the house), and it detects the 2.4GHz from the said router, but it cannot detect the 5GHz from the said router. Everyone else in the family can detect and connect to the 5GHz of the said router. I’m the only one who can’t. I’ve rebooted the phone and router many times. Tried different channels and settings. Nada. Can anyone please shed some light on this dilemma?
can you connect to other 5 Ghz networks?
Are you on stock ROM?

Yes. Like I said, I can detect and connect to all the other 5GHz routers that I come across. Only this one I can't. Yet everyone else can detect and connect to it. I'm the only one who can't and I'm totally baffled. I'm running stock ROM updated to Android 9 long ago.
In case of a missing or unregistered sim card the phone supports only channels 36-48, otherwise the national channel range.
At least half of all routers are missing the DFS feature and support only channels 36-48,which is fine in this case. I wouldn't want to own one of these.
I your sim card is a local network provider's and not a foreign one in roaming mode, things get more complicated, but it should be a matter of localization.
