Hello.
First, thanks @Quarx realy thanks, amazing job!!:victory::angel:
so, now the thing....
I'm using cm-10.2-20131030-NIGHTLY-mb526  whit the update kernel, but i want a kernel more recently...
i was looking everywhere and i didn't find anything. So when i read this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47827999&postcount=1654 form @okij, !!!he extract the kernel from cm 11!!! omg
so i'll try, i took this file: cm-11-20140120-NIGHTLY-mb526 and extract the kernel... make a flashable.zip and Bingo.. new kernel.. more recent..
Now i have cm10.2 with 2.6.32.9 Mon.Jan 20....2014
so if you are intrerested.. you only have to do the same..
My device is Motorola Defy + MB526

So, what's the gain? the latest CM11 kernels is more unstable than CM10.2 and the latest 10.2 have no camera for green lens. So what's the point?

I see but I prefer the latest version of CM 10.2 but with camera bug solved (that is a hope).

Hi
well, now i can tell this, the governors cpu go erratic/crazy with the kernel cm-11-20140131-NIGHTLY-mb526.zip
i look into the dmesg.. and i don't see anything wierd thing... in fact.. i compared 20140131 with the update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47827999&postcount=1654 and look similar.. even the same error :silly:
i don't konw what to do..
cpu erratic: i try to change the governor, the most stable one, is boosted. Interactive, smartass and indemand, when i try this, it just jump 300 to 1200 (overclock ), almost don't pass to 600 and 800.
Any ideas how to fix the governors cpu going crazy??
Pd: both dmesg included.
Pd2: new info, i flashed the last one kernel 6-02-2014, and is more stable, the cpu erratic/crazy things... doesn't appaers :fingers-crossed: governor cpu interactive
Thank's
Have fun

[Q] Cyanogenmod 6.1stable: Overclocking? Market?

Hi... sorry to bother you... but i can't figure out those things by myself.
Why the kernel in the stable version isn't overclockable? While in the nightlies it is? should i flash it apart?
Then... i flashed the google apps first, and then the patched market v6... but it's not working... why?

You sure you can't overclock your CM6.1.0 Stable?, i can overclock mine..
You can always flash the kernel that HCDR.Kernel v4.1 provided somewhere here in this forum section, i think its the same kernel that CM6 is using for all its build starting RC2.
Oh BTW, here's the link for your convinient..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798471
No Way! i flashed the kernel that you gently posted, but when i run "set cpu" the max value i can set is 528 :S
The market isn't working neither... Stable sto cazzo! (italian idiom to say it's not stable at all)
It's slower then my previous cyanogen... which was, if i recall, nightly build6!
Anyway... i read a few comments on the main thread of the cyanogenmod... i understood that build 50 is one of the best... do you advice me to flash that nightly, or do you have a better idea?
i am using the Stable build,, i did not flashed the HCDRKernel,, IMO it is incorporated in the CM stable build,, do wipe ur data and install the ROM again.. u should be able to OC... BTW nightly#50 is also a gud one.. u cn giv a try to it too..
I think you need the v5.2 market patch, as the mod doesn't have the latest market version. I suspect you'll need to wipe and reinstall to undo the changes v6 has done to the market.
Just check the CPU speed steps on "Info" in SetCPU app, if you have more steps above the 528 - there is OC kernel.. Mine has max value of 528 too, but t is enough for me, cause it's quite fast.
I made some profiles for battery levels by decreasing priority and it perfectly overclocks CPU if I want.
Also, yesterday flashed market v6 on CM6.1 and it works smooth.
same here... max value i can set is 528...
try another kernel, the 2.6.32.27 oc uv xtra neon fp, didn't work...
godspeed don't work...

[Q] Motorola Defy Kernels

hi guys, I would like to ask experienced users what is the difference between the kernels we used on our Defy(s)
Froyo Kernel vs Gingerbread kernel vs Walter79's Kernel
I first encountered this kernel upon viewing the CM9 update thread
I have a red lense defy and the very first rom I flashed was the official CM7.1 so I am aware I do have a Froyo Kernel running on this bad boy.
what is the difference/ advantages?
which is better?
is it safe to flash one over the other?
is it easy to flash? like how we flash roms? we can always go back to to Froyo kernel from the gingerbread or walter kernel and vice versa?
I think a lot of noobs would appreciate your answers.
I will edit this post and add your answers so that others may find it useful as well
some answers--------------------------------------------

Ans:My experience says that the main advantage of using GB kernel is battery life..
Defy-4.5.3-109_DPP-11-kernel is well known for awesome battery life.
which is better?
Ans: I personally think Walter79's kernel is better in every sense.Unfortunately for old defy owners(SOC camera green lens), camera wont work on new kernels without any extra fix..
is it safe to flash one over the other?
Ans: Yea its 100% safe..i personally never had any problem as such..but i heard few people faced bootloop..in any case you can always go back to froyo or watever kernel u were using
is it easy to flash? like how we flash roms? we can always go back to to Froyo kernel from the gingerbread or walter kernel and vice versa?
Ans: As i have already mentioned above, we can always switch between these kernels..just remember not to flash any GB kernel based sbf or else u will be stuck! before flashing any unknown or less known kernel PLEASE USE THE SEARCH option and know more about the kernel and related problems.

i would add, that many people state that GB kernel (2.3) has much better 3d performance - games are running much better than on froyo kernel.
It's easy and safe to switch between kernels, you should only remember that switching kernel must come with installing appropriate rom

Thanks for this information bro!!
Please also share Camera fix (link) for GB kernel for SOC Camera and also mentioned whether downgrade is possible. Your help will be appreciated.
anyone correct me but we can do dual boot but can't install dual kernels?
say
cm7 (froyo kernel ) as system
cm9 (gingerbread kernel) on SD
and will Gingerbread kernel work with cm7 for the defy, red lense?

No, can't do it. Both ROM's should share the same kernel.
thanks Auris, would you be able to add anything or negate anything that was previously posted about the Defy Kernels?
Please help me a bit with those kernels! I have a defy+ with 2.3.6 base and one of those newest official build nandroids. Can I flash Walter's kernel? ^^
Just don't want any bootloader error!
Sent from my Defy+ using xda premium (app needs update!)
M on froyo kernel running cm7.2
Can I flash gb kernel? Also m having green lens.
Will the camera work on walters69 kernel?

thanks, guys. i've been looking for the answers
Is it okay to flash defy+ rom zip and then the gb kernel on a green lens defy? To me battery life is more important than camera

Walter79's kernel allows 720p recording for defy red lens.
Defy kernel Flash
i have a motorola defy green lens currently running cm9 4.0.4 (camera's not working but i don't care much for the camera ) . ok here's my problem i'm trying to flash a different kernel on my defy.. the current kernel im running is 2.6.32.9 cdt 2011 but i need better performance and i tried to flash semaphore kernel. the flash was successful but i see no changes and also in the settings>about phone the kernel version hasnt changed. i need help so that i can flash new kernel properly.. thanks
Hi!
I realize this is a very old thread, but it seems to be one of the few addressing the (dis)advantages of the froyo vs the GB kernel (independently of the ROM!).
The 720p-recording is really not important to me, but battery life is and I just read here that it would be better on GB kernel.
Do any of you have further experience with regards to battery-life difference between Froyo and GB kernels (not ROMs)!? Is it a big difference (to what extent or through which features?)
I have a MB525 with red lens and Froyo kernel, so I could go for a GB-kernel.
I've recently rooted my smartphone and flashed WIUI (3.1.27, GB&MIUI-based) on it, because (1) my phone was slowing down, (2) I wanted not to have any bloatware anymore and (3) I wanted some apps that only run on Gingerbread/2.3+ (e.g. the offline-language-package-feature from Google Translate). Almost everything is now better.
BUT, my battery life got worse! I've now down-volted my smartphone to a stable point and set it to 'smartassv2', but am looking for further improvement for the battery life. As WIUI can be installed both on froyo and GB-kernel, I might also update the Kernel...but only want to take the plunge if it really would make a difference...
any advice or experience is welcome!

[Q] Overclocking LG Optimus L7 P700

Simple question... How can I overclock this device?
I am currently running latest cm10 from nightly and I cannot overclock it probably because of the kernel....
Any suggestions/ideas about this issue will be gladly appreciated
*bump* I need a solution for overclocking this, someone, please post something!
If there is no custom kernel available for your device you probably are not going to overclock it for now.

Didint test CM 9s myself , coz i jumped from Stock to 2ndboot immediately CM 10 Cyanogen, but from what i can read - mostly all 4.0.4 are stable now.
CM 10s are also stable enough, used all versions of Cyanogen by Quarx from 2013 - suggest , if you decide to go that way to start with 0409 ROM. It has pretty good battery management, and no WiFI dropouts..All in all good choice..And no ringtone bug too.
If you get no WiFI and or no mobile signal - check FIRST aeroplane mode - it tends to boot with it on.
Just turn it off - and all works.

Think that read here on forums that SetVsel won't work well with CM10s..and tends to crash the thing ...look it up, not sure about it where i read it. If ur using it - try with something else. Also , read about developers pages - they are doing something wtih 3+ kernel but still very experimental.. check Quarx pages ull find all kinds of it there.
wajkiui 3.1.27 (gb) seems very stable, more than any other rom i tried including stock. second best would be stock (imo)

But, its based on 2.3.7 , isn't it? My guess was we are talking about CM10 4.1.2...All 4.0.4 are fully stable and thats CM9. Your talking about CM7 if im not mistaken, and that's way old. For that to put on defy plus - you can leave stock..

cm9/10 seemed too slow to me. stock is somewhat better but nowhere near gb-based miui. and the subject thread does not mention cm10. to me, the improvements of cm10 in terms of features do not make up for the loss in speed.

[Q] Screen error after install any kernel

Hi guys, happy new year!
So, i'm testing the rom "Nexus 5 Experience (Kitkat 4.4.2)" and everything seems ok, i'm testing the version CAF Kernel. now i'm tryin install new kernels on this rom, but at every kernel I install i get the same error, after instal any kernel, I turn on my N4 and the screen seems very strange, colors flashing, sometimes when i start a game (or anything that forces the gpu) the screen is filled by one or two colors, but the touch is still working, is just a screen or gpu (i dont know) error.
I tryed to take some printscreens, but when i will check this on my pc, everything is ok, like if theres no error.
When i flash the rom again, everything works normally.
what i'm doing wrong ? I thought to change kernel is only flash him, is it wrong ?
i'm newbie, got my n4 yesterday but i have some experience in my old xperia..
sorry the bad english, im br
Thanks guys!!

I can't say what you did wrong, maybe you got the wrong version since many make 2 versions of their kernel, one for AOSP and one for CM.
I don't run CM ROM's so I don't know which kernels are out there. HellsCore is also another kernel to consider, I believe there are CM versions of it as well.
