Kind of hard to understand your question. Are you trying to remove the sprint boot and shutdown animation? Or the sprint carrier logo in the status bar, pull down menu and lock screen? Is your phone rooted?
if. is the logo when you turn it on, you get the boot from Sprint and would like to delete. and if the root

First, I take no responsibility for what you do to your phone. If you are not comfortable digging through the /system directory do not try this. If you are, this should solve your problem.
If i understand you correctly you would like to get rid of the Sprint boot animation. To do that you need to remove these files from /system/media.
SPR_bootsamsung.qmg
SPR_bootsamsungloop.qmg
SPR_shutdown.qmg.
Now let's get rid of the audio "ding" in the boot animation. Remove the following files and folder from /system/media/audio/ui.
Poweron.ogg
Poweroff.ogg
SPR folder
All you should be left with is the standard Samsung boot animation.

I removed the three files, and a fourth. I've read that if you remove that one this will happen, so on my fourth file delete, I felt there were only three and I was right. Can someone help me find which file that is and how to re-install it?
Hi.
Trying to do the same thing.
You say which files to remove, which
is fine. What you don't say is: HOW to
do it! What App would be needed and
the procedure for removing said files???
Please advise and thanks for your time

Successfully Removed Sprint Splash Screen Boot Animation
Thank you for this information for the SM-T217S tablet. I had great difficulty rooting my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 SM-T217S so I contacted "One Click Root" and happily paid only $35.00 to have my Samsung tablet rooted successfully. Next, I used your instructions to delete these files to remove the Sprint splash screen, or boot and shutdown animations. I paid for "Root Explorer", granted the app root access, deleted the files from location SYSTEM/MEDIA, rebooted the device and the animations were GONE! I am thrilled to say the least. "One Click Root" is a winning choice for rooting your devices, especially difficult ones. ***WAKE UP AMERICANS AT "STOPTHEGLOBALISTS"

!! AWESOME !!
It so easy to remove that boot screen, just delete the above mention files using root browser. I'm happy and I used to hate when Sprint bootup/down Screen comes.
Wonder, if we can create our own boot screen , if so it would be awesome.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks again.

Hmm... just you 2?
When I get home I will investigate for you. Weird tho. Just checking but you both have desires? And bootanimation is in /data/local?
Stupid questions, I know but have to check these things.
EDIT: Ok, I have downloaded the file, and can confirm it works and works well, the file structure is unchanged and the bootanimation works absolutely fine on my and my cousins device..
So im not really sure what to advise??, You both have root?, I know tell me how you are both installing these animations? (exactly please).

Thanks for testing, i have root with DeFrost 9b. I have to put the bootanimations in 2 directories before they will work(/data/local, /system/media)
The thing is, when i boot my Desire, it first shows me the default white screen with the green htc letters. This takes about 5 till 10 seconds before the bootanimation jumps in.
So my guess is that the bootanimation could work if there's some way to remove the green/white htc logo from my phone.
Any chance you could do a version of the Matrix one without the green "loading" text? IMHO it is completely ruined by that.

Hi guys!
Have followed the guide in this forum and now i have defrost 9b.
Trying to get a bootanimation replacement, copied the file bootanimation.zip to the root of the device and followed the guide that states:
How to change boot animation
You need to have HTC Sync installed
Copy bootanimation.zip to SD Card
Turn off Desire and then turn it on while holding back button to enter bootloader(white screen)
Once in "white screen" press power button again to enter bootloader
Connect Desire with PC
Press Volume Down and than Power to enter Recovery
Open Command prompt/Terminal and type
Code:
adb shell mount /system
adb push C:\bootanimation.zip /data/local
adb reboot
Unplug your HTC and enjoy your new boot animation
"adb shell mount /system" does not work....
What am i doing wrong?!?
Appologies for my nubiness.

Anyway, for your question, yes, I have root, and I am running Amer Bravo V3. I am using the r5 method. And yes I am using Desire just like stated in my signature.
i love these boot animations, other users have moved them over to the Droid and Galaxy, can anyone give more information on how to do this?

Well if you really want it badly, just start searching for it. Maybe Samsung does it differently. I would look for any .gif file or any zip file that might be it. I plan on doing this myself when I get the phone up and running.

Yes, I've noticed this before as well. The png+ogg are effectively the boot animation in frame by frame format with the sound. Pity Soraxd couldn't even put two and two together and notice this.
In an effort to get rid of the boot animations entirely, I've moved/backed up all files and folders that appear to be relating to the boot animations and sounds.
Looks good up to a point - shutdown animation and sound is completely gone, startup video is also gone, but no matter what I do, I can't seem to get rid of the startup sound. I can't find any audio files that correlate with the sound that plays...
Any ideas?

Really? I would think the sounds would be in the same folder as the images, strange.
What folders did you backup?
I've found the power on sound, now I have no animation/sound at startup or shutdown (still get the Galaxy S initial bootup screen). Looks like deleting the shutdown video (or rather collection of .pngs) stops the audio from being played as well, though I've deleted shutdown.ogg as I don't need it anymore.
Startup sound;
/system/etc/PowerOn.wav
Startup animation;
/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
Shutdown sound;
/system/media/audio/ui/shutdown.ogg
Shutdown video (directory of .pngs);
/system/media/shutdown/
What the heck is a qmg file? I would like to try to replace the boot screen, but I don't know of a program that saves in qmg format. Replacing the shutdown screen should be easy.
Thanks Squid for showing the folders.
There are certain files here too:
/system/bin
bootanimation 22.57kb
bootaniamtion2nd 22.59kb
when I ask for details using Astro File Manager, it does not give any extension, just the Permissions and MD5...
No idea what these are...
Wait I think they are script files?! :S
I didn't mention those because they appeared not to have any effect on the actual bootup, so i just left them in there.
i manage to change the shutdown animations
download For NewerROMs like VillainROM.zip
unzip For NewerROMs like VillainROM
go into /system/customize/resource
unzip bootanimation.zip
there is part0 and part1
see which animation u guy want change the file name to shutdown_0,shutdown_1................
use adb pull /system/media/video/shutdown c:/
open the shutdown delete all then file expect shutdown.cfg
copy the rename file into it
use adb push c:/shutdown /system/media/video/shutdown
what... ?! Did not understand... I thought VillainROM was for HTC phones...

It is, VillainRom is a rom for the gsm htc hero, the boot files however are just png's coupled with a config file that tells android how many fps it should play the animation at, the Samsung shutdown animation works pretty much the same way, so tom72022 simply replaced the shutdown png's with the bootup png's which resulted in a custom shutdown animation. Its pretty logical when you think about it, However in my opinion its pretty pointless to use a boot animation as a shutdown animation, and to be honest I can't see the point of a custom bootscreen on the galaxy s, even if we manage to replace the bootscreen what would be the point? the phone boots so fast that we would't see much of the animation anyway.

FOR SPRINT GALAXY TABs - DEACTIVATION OF SPRINT ACTIVATION MESSAGE ON BOOT and ACTIVATE DEVICE NOTIFICATIONS.
Ok well the verizon method of bypassing the activation everytime you start the tab doesnt work (vol up once, vol down twice, etc. etc.)
I used the 2nd post in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866162
to try and deactivate the activation screen, but it bricked my Sprint Tab. I had to use the rom available here which messes up GPS and modem. But anyway foxmeister mentioned why not just go to the app and delete, freeze, it.
1) I used Root explorer and went to:
/system/app/
2) put the folder in R/W mode (look at top for button)
3) now look for -
sprintadroidextension.apk
4) long hold press it, either copy it and paste it in another folder as backup.
5) go back to /system/app/ and long hold press sprintadroidextension.apk
again and Delete it.
6) put the folder back in R/O mode.
Now restart and you should not see anymore activation messages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =]
Thank you to : foxmeister, sirmacbeth, rkmj
RKMJ stated you can try to use Titanium Backup and freeze the app instead of deleting it. I just deleted it and it WORKS =].
I also saved a backup in another folder so in case i need the app i'll have it.
I'll try to upload the apk for anyone who needs it later.
I made a separate topic on this because 1) i tried it and it worked 2) the other thread is confusing and can lead you to brick your sprint tab fast.
Finally!!! Something that finally appears to work!
Thank you!

I can't STAND the activation prompt... until today, I just put the tab in Airplane mode, and rebooted. That got rid of it, but I have to manually turn on the WiFi every time i boot it. I'm in position, but can't for the life of me find the R/W mode button, or a way to change the permissions... lil' help please?
Thanks for this! Whether ot works for me or not, I HAVE learned something!
=IP IHI II IL=
is your tab rooted? Are you use root explorer?
when you get over to the /system/app directory, on the upper left/middle side of the screen you'll see a button that might say either R/O or R/W
Click that button, it will switch from read only mode to read/write mode.
It might say Mount R/O or Mount R/W, i forgot exactly how it was.
I don;t have my tab on me, sent it into samsung because I did some stupid stuff nd lost my GPS capability.\
Cheers.
Worked good for me. Thanks!
I'm still going to use my G Tab in Airplane mode for the most part however. I have a hunch it's draining battery when it's locked onto the EVDO network, and there's signal bars in the status bar at the top of the screen.

What is this activation prompt? I have a Sprint Tab and have never seen it.
I'm sure there was some sort of activation the very first time I used the device, but certainly not every time I turn it on.
after deleting the file with root explorer it came back again.
how to delete the file? the tab is rooted
Ok, so I did everything and when I delete the file it comes right back. As soon as I go back to the system folder it seems the program regenerates itself.
Now I am having a problem with the R/O mode switch. When I first open the program I can change it to Mount r/w. However, as soon as I get into the system folder and the app folders the mount r/o button kind of greys out and when I click it nothing happens.
any ideas?
Thanks! This worked well for me. Only change was I used Super Manager rather than Root Explorer to delete the file (since it was free and on the Market for Sprint). If you don't set the directory to R/W is seems to work but dfoes not actually delete the file.
My question now is do I have to be concerend with firmware updates. Will they reset this or fail to apply? TIA
I think I answered this myself - Can't get OTA firmware updates and if you try it tries to activate again!
Future firmware updates are problematic too I hear - they will attempt tp prevent people hacking or rooting the device.

Yes, you can get Titanium Backup for free through the market and freeze the app. Also, for anyone having trouble deleting the app, freezing it through Titanium Backup will produce the same result of removing the activation prompt.
Bump for Woot buyers.
I've been having this problem on my Sprint Galaxy S III. I tried this method but it didn't work - activation came up again right after reboot. I tried searching for activation disabling on the GSIII and this was the only thing I could find. Anybody have any ideas on how to get the SIII to can the activation screen?
ADDED
I tried moving the sprint_installer.apk to my newly created backup folder where I also moved the sprintandroidextension.apk. I checked and that file did not regenerate as it did for another user in this discussion. Both are in the Backup sub-folder I created in the /system/app/ folder. Could it still be seeing these .apk's in there and loading them anyway? I've even picked up the paid version of Titanium Backup so I could try freezing the file (free version won't let you reeze but I use TB enough I figured $3.99 was more than reasonable for use I'd already gotten from it whether it helped this situation or not) but for some reason, it refuses to see the sprintandroidextension.apk file at all but I was able to freeze the Sprint-Installer.apk but it didn't appear to have any effect whatsoever.

Now I've made it.
For the first part(spinning CM logo), I have centered the android logo.
For the second part(after everything goes white), I have made it loop seamlessly.
Enjoy!

[BOOT ANIMATION] CyanogenMod 9 CM9 for MDPI devices...
Works on Optimus One...
Taken from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510557
Just changed a small line in the desc.txt... Tried downscaling images, but didn't work out... So left the images at 360x640 resolution... Looks slightly egg-shaped... I don't really know how to make boot animations...
I hope someone can improve over this bootanimation though...
All credit to original creators...

Android Logo went off center... Would it be possible to readjust the boot animation images so that Android remains at the center of the screen, instead of being at the top?
Also, your boot animation ends a lot more quickly, before the phone gets enough time to boot up. The older boot animation I had posted lasts a lot longer, until phone boots completely... I don't know how it all is supposed to work...
When I try to install it from ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0, the installation has aborted. What's the problem?

The problem is that you have to put it in system/media trough a file manager(like root explorer or es file explorer) and then change the permissions to rw-r--r-- (as said in the first post....)

It's just because the one who made the boot animation didn't make the part which makes the boot animation loop.
Now I'm making one with centered android logo (partly) and loop. Stay tuned. But anyway, I'd like to thank those who brought this awesome animation to P500

cm9 boot image
I instaled it and looks awesome
It looks great, although on "weaker" devices is not so smooth, but it is still great tho.

I changed permission and when I try to paste the zip in system/media, a popup advises me that there aren't enough space to paste it.

If you are on CM9, uninstall some system apps and delete the videos is /system/media/video/(those are 200% useless)

I haven't the video folder xD I tried to uninstall some system apps and now the free space is of 8 Mb. The bootanimation is only 3Mb, but root explorer advises me that there isn't enough space still.
EDIT: I've the Beta 3 still.

Delete the old one before... if still won't work, try with ES... if still not working, then uninstall apps like movie editor, camera etc...

Guys, if you are on CM7, just place the bootanimation on data/local folder. No need to replace the original one from system/media.

***TLDR: I edited build.prop, and now it looks like my /system/ folder has been deleted, phone won't boot. Will I be able to save my phone? or do I have to re flash it and start from scratch?
I was trying to get a patched Google Wallet working on my rooted S4 I9505OXAAMDE, and supposedly the app wouldn't open on most devices, so I changed some device details in the build.prop file in the /system folder.
The only things I changed are these values:
ro.product.model=GT-I9505
ro.product.name=jfltexx
ro.product.device=jflte
to
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.name=yakju
ro.product.device=maguro
I did this on the S4 with a text editor (after changing the system folder to being RW instead of RO), and then I rebooted my S4. It gets up to the point where it says "Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505....", then goes to a black screen and just hangs there. At this point I can't do anything. I can't turn the phone off then on again with the power button, nothing shows up on the screen. The only response I can get is that the blue notification LED turns on for a bit after I press some buttons.
After that, I put the phone in recovery mode (using Phil's Touch Recovery mod, or something by that name), and tried to ADB pull the my backup build.prop (called build.prop.bak) from the system folder; adb tells me "remote object does not exist". I then tried pulling a copy i put in the /sdcard/ folder, and that worked. So I had the proper build.prop on my pc (with the i9505 settings), and i then pushed it to /system/build.prop. All should have been good at that point, but when I try to boot I get the same problem.
I then installed a recovery file manager http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108 and had a look around in that. According to it there were only 2 things in the /system/ folder; an empty folder called "bin" and the build.prop that I pushed there earlier. From what I remember when I originally edited the build.prop file, there were heaps of folders and files in /system/.
So it seems like something, for some reason deleted my /system/ folder Now I'm guessing I can just flash the stock firmware again (got that downloading now), but I don't want to lose all my apps and such. Is it possible to keep my old setup after flashing? (I don't plan on wiping/resetting anything during the flash)
I also read somewhere that maybe i have to mount/remount (i have no idea) the system folder, and then it might appear again, but I have no clue honestly.
Anything I can do? I really don't want to start with a completely fresh phone, I wanna keep my old setup.
Thanks
EDIT: I tried running "adb remount", and it says "remount failed: success" I don't know what that means, but I was hoping that the /system/ folder isn't lost, that it was just unmounted at some point and hidden in a different location.
Any ideas?

Yep, about to flash stock firmware now, out of options. I just hope it doesn't delete stuff.
Re flashing fixed it, and i didn't lose any files. Just a couple of messed up settings etc, easy to fix. Gotta re-root it though.

You better have an efs backup if youre gonna do more similar advnetures. Triangle Away doesn't work on S4 yet so Samsung wont fix the phone for you if you screw it up without major $$$.
