Hey guys,
I'm selling my galaxy S4. It was rooted but I had never installed a custom ROM. I did a factory reset so that I could wipe the data for the buyer. Now it doesn't let me pass the setup screen. It says "sorry settings have stopped" and it just keeps doing this. I have to ship it to the buyer tomorrow so I need to urgently fix this. Can anyone help?

I have just bought a Samsung galaxy s5 from a for sale site. Seemed fully legitimate. Get home and try setting it up and I'm stuck on the screen that reads " this device I'd locked because of an abnormal factory reset. Sign in to the Samsung account you have already signed in to on this device to confirm it belongs to you. "
I do not know this information. And now have no way of getting the information off the owner. I have tried a couple of methods to bypass this And watched numerous videos on YouTube.
Some tutorials to remove it tell me to press "forgotten your ID or password?" Did that. Put my own samsung account. Entered the captcha and then went to the next screen. In the videos they tell you to them press my email which is highlighted in blue and then it takes you to the Web and it carries on from there. However it does not let you press the email anymore. It isn't a link or anything.
Please can someone give me some advice or help! Welcome any questions or anything. Thanks very much. Jordan.
Go in recovery and wipe data/factory reset. If not works I would suggest you to flash a new firmware through Odin.

thanks for reply
Hi. Thanks for the reply. I have tried the factory reset and all that on recovery mode.
I am not the best expert on rooting or rooting. So any advice would be kuchly appreciated as I currently have no phone!! Thanks. Jordan
Seems you have bought a used S5 right ?
Are you sure this is not a lost os stolen device
As you describe de situation i`m thinking on the option Reactivation Lock o security tab.
If the old owner let this option active you will have a hard time trying to use the phone without the samsung account information.
Very much sounds like a stolen device I take it you didn't take any ID from the seller?
Might be expensive learning curve.
Hi all,
I recently bought a galaxy note 4 in the UAE that was locked to a network over there. Thing is, i live in Kenya and of course the sim here wont work with the phone, so i decided to do a factory reset, dont know if have ****ed myself over or what coz i keep getting stuck on the samsung account screen where the same message keeps coming back over and over 'processing failed'. Question, is my phone bricked? Any help will be highly appreciated. And in addition if anyone knows where i can get an unlock code online, that would be great. Cheers!
Peace ALL,
Hopefully someone can please help me!! I recently purchased a used OP2 off of Amazon. Phone received was in good shape and looked brand new. The problem I have however is that I can't bypass the initial set-up (I think it has something to do with Google factory Reset Protection).
Whenever the phone is in the initial setup process its asking for a gmail that was synced to the device before it was wiped--which of course I dont have access to. Is there any workaround for this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
i had the same problem as i got it second hand. The thing with me was that i knew the owner.
The problem is that the previous owner wiped the device from the boot menu ( the one that looks like twrp) and not from the in menu setting.
this is why it asks for a previous mail.
I asked for his mail and password ,logged in, went to settings did a factory reset form the menu and all ok.I dont know what you could do without his mail and password.
Maybe unlock it put twrp custom rom open it and then reset it to factory settings?
Does anybody know if unlocking bootloader and flashing the stock ROM will bypass Google Device Protection (not sure if this will work as i think the OP2 is already "unlocked")?
Someone please help
I am having the same issue. I've read how you have to wait 72 hours but I am not sure if it will work.
Hi All,
I've previously had Omni-Rom installed, but wanted to return to stock to sell the phone.
I downloaded a stock rom, from this XDA thread, and have installed..
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/development/eui-5-9-23s-stock-launcher-eui-6-0-t3617371
The phone boots up into EUI, but I can't get through the setup wizard - after inputting wifi details I get an error:
"We've detected that this device is already bound with the following account: 185***#! etc.
There doesn't seem to be any way to get past this.
I'm now in a situation, where I have the factory recovery, and have no idea where to go from here.
Appreciate any help!
Thanks!
Try this method!

Hello people, I need your help urgently.
A friend bought a used s8.
The old owner was still logged in with his account.
She tried in vain to achieve this, without success.
Since she is an "all alone" girl she has made a factory reset and behold, locked.
Now she started with Odin and Rome ..
End of lies, the device was stuck in an error message.
Now I got it.
Then I tried with twrp and Custom Rome, without success
The "OEM lock" is still set.
From the outside, I no longer have access.
Then I installed official Roms and at least managed to start it normally, initialized something and installed it up to another error message and slipped into a bootloop.
So, does anyone have an idea?
Because, I think that was it ..
