Hey i wanna root my lg p700 and install custom rom on it so just check if i will do this correctly.
Here is how i do it :
The phone is running Android 4.1.2 (Jellybean) v20 Baseband, T-mobile carrier
1. Root The phone
2. Unlock the bootloader
3. Download ROM MANAGER from playstore and using it flash CWM
4. Boot into recovery wipe all and flash rom than gapps
Another questin is THAT I DONT HAVE SDCARD SO HOW CAN I INSTALL THE ROM ? I GOT SDCARD FOLDER BUT I DONT HAVE SDCARD, WILL I BE STILL ABLE TO INSALL THE ROM ?
And which rom can you suggest me with your personal experience for this phone ? I want to to run fast and smooth, and the god damn facebook application to work fine on it.
Thanks.
You forgot to wipe cache and dalvik cache at step four. It doesn't matter that you have no SD card, you can place the ROM file on your internal SD. I recommend Slimbean 4.1.2 Build 3: Underdog. It's great, stable, fast and has few to none problems with applications such as Facebook.

Thanks dude, and what about KitKat Prime 4.4 ROM ? Is this stable or ? And also i saw a lot of people downloading CWM from another place ? Does the playstore one support p700 ? As i said on p500 all i did was downloading ROM MANAGER and thought it flashed CWM is it same on this phone ?
And do you know a good way to unlock bootloader on 4.1.2 ? I found at unlockroot.com but i dont know which one should i use Unlockroot PRO or unlockphone bootloader should i first use Unlockroot Pro Than unlockphone bootloader software ?
You should look on its thread to see whether it's stable or not. You can easily download CWM through ROM Manager (which can be downloaded from the Play Store) on the P700 as well. A good way to unlock your bootloader can be found here.

Hey I'm currently running TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 v2.3.3 with ROM Manager Premium installed and when I check for an update it says there is no update for this room but I noted that version 2.4.1 is out.
I have downloaded the ROM and moved it over to my SD card. With that said do I just install the updated version via zip file with ClockworkMod Recovery or do I do a complete fresh upgrade first and then install.
If I do the fresh update will I be upable to reupload my previous settings (widgets, apps, etc) from Rom Manager with the fact I have the premium addition or because it's a different version will this not work?
If not is there a way to do so?
Thanks in advance
is the zip you downloaded an update zip or a rom zip? I don't think you can use a regular rom zip as an update! I might be wrong, but if the zip is named update or it said that it was an update zip when you downloaded it, then you can just flash the update without loosing anything, but if you're not sure and you want to go the safe way I would suggest a clean full flash.
task 29

Flash
Good luck!
our devices cant use rommanager properly yet.
I'd suggest:
1) Backup everything (tita backupsms backup & restore .... + backup in cwm)
2) Flash new ROM
If you encounter lots of errors and force closes:
1) Wipe everything
2) Flash cwm and rom
3) Restore all updates except the cwm one
Okay thanks for the update. I guess I'll just update this weekend by a full update.
Thanks again

Most ROMS have instructions in the first post but basically you need to:
0)Backup everything (installing a custom ROM requires that you factory reset your phone)
1)Root your phone. Since this is your first time installing a custom ROM (search the forum for rooting methods)
2)Install ClockWorkMod (CWM). You can keep a backup of your previous recovery if you want.
3)Download the zip of the ROM you want to install on your SD card.
4)Reboot your phone in recovery
5)Do wipes / install as instructed in the ROM you choose
quoting from the aurora ROM for the u8800 Pro...
INSTALLATION
Boot into recovery (5.0.2.7 for U8800 pro )
You should have Clockworkmod version 5.0.2.7 installed, in order to install clockworkmod you should first root your phone
Wwipe data / factory reset
Wipe cache
Advanced and wipe dalvik cache
Boot in recovery (ClockWorkMod) and do the wipes as instructed
Mounts and storage and format system
From ClockworkMod
Install zip from sd card
From ClockworkMod
Choose aurora_2.0_u8800pro.zip
From ClockworkMod

Extra info...
*)Custom roms are rooted so you don't need to do step 1 next time
*)ClockworkMod will not get deleted/altered by a custom ROM unless you want to update it
*)Usually you don't need to do all wipes if you update the same ROM (always read instructions)

I totally agree with you there are instructions for every rom... i haven't installed any rom to u8800pro but for u8800 i can asure that there are guides everywhere step by step, instructions to any rom on how to install them, etc.
If the rooting tutorial that you have found does not work properly as it should on your device you should look for another, and you might find it. not a very good help just an opinion and was trying to make sure you won't give up next time because you can't find a proper guide take care
Okay just rooted my phone yesterday, I have try all the ROMs from Jellyblast v3 to any ROM I can find on the developer page but my phone failed to install any of the ROM! Flash your phone to base DXLF1 and try installing Hyperion from there. if you still have trouble installing the ROM, try flashing DXLF1 then install EVO-X2.1 then Hyperion (that's what I did)
also you don't need a pre-rooted phone. installation of Hyperion automatically roots your phone. and if you did a fresh flash and haven't booted up your phone (after Odin flashing, immediately booted to Recovery then CWM Recovery) then you don't have to do a data reset or cache wipe, your phone after flashing stock rom is already as good as wiped and reset.
and you can flash Hyperion from either CWM or Stock Recovery. but the flashing of EVO-X2.1 requires CWM. I forgot if EVO needs root, but you can check that out on the developers page (too lazy to add link )
first flash stock dxlf
then if youre succesfull go to stock rom home screen
reboot recovery clear data factory reset and cache on stock recovery
then apply root update.zip (file you need to root ur phone)
next open cwm clear data and cache again
after that install hyperion then donot reboot and donot apply any update (must be later after succes install)
clear data and cache again in cwm
then reboot recovery clear data and cache again
then reboot wait for a while
thats my step and now im using hyperion smoothly

go dig in that thread, you should find it eventually. also you need to know how to use Odin flasher, but that's already included in the guide.

you may immediately flash to DXLF1. just go to download mode without doing anything. Like I said, flashing stock roms is as good as getting your phone right from the factory.
after flashing to DXLF1 you may retry flashing Hyperion. if that doesn't work, then refer to my previous post on what I did.

you should wipe data wipe cache wipe dalvik cache as it can cause bootloop then try to install it again and for flashing rom you do not need root access .

I recently rooted my Sprint LG G2. I'm a new to the whole installing a ROM's on my phone.
Is there any threads that go through the step by step process of installing ROMs?
Also, do I need a "recovery"? Or do these come with the ROMs?
Thanks to all that answer!

Download freegee from play store to install a recovery. I just rooted my G2 yesterday. I have a ROM ready to install but still researching the proper procedures to flash. I'll post back when i find it.
From a PA post:
Download ROMS from NEW DOWNLOADS
make sure you are on the latest TWRP (there are issues with CWM - u may try unofficial CWM)
1. DOWNLOAD YOUR ROM
2. DOWNLOAD THE LATEST PA 4.4 GAPPS PACKAGE - always check/use up to date Gapps unless otherwise noted
http://goo.gl/mYKmfL - - RECOMMEND mini modular PA Gapps latest
http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/gapps
Wipe Fresh Clean Install (you all know the procedure)
3. COMPLETE CLEAN WIPE - *includes system*
4. FLASH ROM & GAPPS
5. WIPE CACHE & DALVIK
5. RUN INITIAL SETUP & REBOOT
Let boot take as much time as needed. This will help avoid boot issues.
From what I'm reading, essentially the SD card is partitioned. So apparently when formatting system the rest of storage remains intact. Download ROM (and GAPPS if needed) and just move onto SD card. Go from there.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here...

tip for dualbooters
Hi,
try its a test , i assume you know what you do with your device, if you dualboot, you know that !
For this tweak, on your good 2nd rom , install Nandroid Manager from Store :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.h3r3t1c.bkrestore
tweak details:
if you have a good running lollipop on 1rst rom, then flash your DorimanX kernel with TWRP or ODIN, reboot DorimanX recovery and using it, make a nandroid of your 1rst lollipop rom.
- NOW, with DorimanX kernel, reboot and run your KitKat or JB 2nd rom and ,
- copy nandroid backup from clockworkmod folder on device (int or ext card) to PC ("omni-02122014-2014-12-02.19.02.55" for example) .
- from this nandroid, make an another safe copy in another folder of your PC.
- from folder named "test-omni-02122014-2014-12-02.19.02.55"
- with 7zip , open system.ext4.tar.a and delete all things except build.prop in /system/. close system.ext4.tar.a.
- with 7zip , open data.ext4.tar.a and
in data/data , delete :
com.andrew.apollo
com.bel.android.dspmanager
com.svox.pico
jp.co.omronsoft.openwnn
net.nurik.roman.dashclock
all folder with :
org.omnirom.*
com.android.*
com.cyanogenmod.*
delete contents in data/dalvik-cache/*
delete contents in data/users/*
you can try to clean some other folders if you want.
then close data.ext4.tar.a
- now, copy "test-omni-02122014-2014-12-02.19.02.55" from PC to your device, in same folder as original.
- reboot your 2nd rom again
- run nandroid manager and find your "test-omni-02122014-2014-12-02.19.02.55" in list of backups and tick it
- launch MD5 buton on screen and choose "generate MD5". When done, reboot recovery.
wait for new lollipop build.......
when , one day, one lollipop build appears (CM12 ALPHA, OMNI or CodeRom), then
- with DorimanX recovery, restore the modified nandroid backup "test-omni-02122014-2014-12-02.19.02.55" on your 1rst rom.
- then , go in mount and storage Menu, follow "mount /system" and go to "format system" partition.
- flash the NEW LOLLIPOP Build ROM now and enjoy to find your DATA APPs from precedent LOLLIPOP BUILD INSTALLED.
thanks
