You have the exynos 5 model, judging from the pictures from above, the benchmark apps show only A15 because they are made for that havy tasks and benchmarks wheres to the A7 are only basic tasks and idle to save power

You're Smart, I know that A7 + A15 works in big.LITTLE
My question was clear it was how do I make sure that I got 2 processors and not one, How Do I Make Sure That Samsung Didn't Lie To us about Exynos 5 octa ?

Haha best laugh I have had all week, do you honestly think Samsung would lie publicly about what CPU is in their Phones? WIth all the Tech and the tear downs done today it's an impossible feat if they did pull it off...
A simple google search would tell you how to actually tell or not.

Again, if you searched around you would see this... Read around before asking, XDA doesn't spoon feed people information, you have to seek it out. - Use the SEARCH function.

Actually Samsung did lie to us about something which was the exynos 5410 (found on the s4) They said it will use all of its 8 cores , also they said that 5420 (found the note 3) would use all of its 8 cores like the S4 and they said "exynos 5420 chip would get the HMP" but they simply didn't released it, then one of the Samsung technician said "the chips won't get the HMP update".... what makes me belive Samsung anymore ? Also they were going to release some phones with 2 flexible screens (not the galaxy golden)

This is very true, Although it is rumoured (whether true or not) to be enabled soon.
As for the flexible screens, that is purely speculation really, as eventually most if not all manufacturers will do this as the tech changes.
Samsung cannot afford to lie about how many processors are in the device, as it has to pass FCC scrutiny etc and the whole legality side of it.

Like your question its very simple thats the frequency of the A15 cores because they were active when you checked the frequency of the cpu so 250 lowest frequency for A15 cores max 1900mhz whats here not to understand and the exynos 5 in s4 and note 3 bigg craap really buggy way better choice Snapdragon 600/800

SGX 540: SGS vs LG Optimus 3d

I just read an article here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4179/ti-omap4-and-lg-optimus-3d-tested
The LG Optimus 3d uses the same SGX 540 graphics that our SGS uses. BUT it is clocked at 300mhz vs our 200mhz AND it uses an updated driver. With these improvements, early benchmarks show it beats the tegra 2 and the quad-gpu in the SGS II. Of course these benchmarks don't tell the whole story, but I still find it interesting. I hope Samsung can make sure android can take advantage of the gpu in the SGS II.
Most PowerVR SGX 540 designs run the GPU core at up to 200MHz. OMAP 4's implementation is another 50% faster. LG's software build also uses a newer version of Imagination Technologies' driver (1.6 instead of 1.5) which fixes some rendering issues (specifically in the Egypt test) and improves performance considerably (likely between 10 - 30% in GLBenchmark2). You can see that the image quality issues are fixed in the video showing the Egypt demo running on the LG Optimus 3D below:

Taking the performance improvement due to the driver out of the equation, we're still looking at a nearly 20% increase in performance over the SGX 540 in Hummingbird. The 4430 holds a similar advantage over NVIDIA's Tegra 2.

Hey, I want this driver! Maybe, devs could be able to port it to SGS somehow.
By the way, GPU in Desire HD and Desire Z (adreno 205) beats SGS one in benchmarks and goes head-to-head with Tegra.

if it causes the same battery drain, i want that driver too...
Id love to see how the Sony NGP with ARM Cortex-A9 quad-core processor & SGX543MP4+ GPU stacks up....just for fun of course.
The SGX540 is indeed a very good GPU. Still not outdated, even at 200 MHz.

Unlikely when you mess with the gpu clock there's an increase in instability, as well as putting other devices out of sync. I believe omap4 is using a different nm process to fabricate it probably smaller than the galaxys so they can put the clock higher.
The driver upgrade is the only possibility.
I think Hummingbird (A8) and Omap4 (A9) are based on same 45 nm architecture.

Guys, look at that:
http://glbenchmark.com/subtest_results_of_device.jsp?D=Google+Nexus+S&id=405
There are 12 tests of Nexus S in GLBenchmark, and 11 of them are below 2400 points (more or less like our SGS), but the most recent one (uploaded at 2011.02.11) scored 3025 points, more than Tegra 2. This result's is made by someone from GLBenchmark, and shows at "GLBenchmark team tested" page of the results. How is that possible?
Just commenting to keep this going. I don't want to put my hopes up too much, but you never know
I'm beginning to believe that it was a bad move from Samsung to switch from PowerVR to the Mali-400. I have the money ready to spend on a new device and I hope it's the SGS2 but I will wait first for the final product and drivers and see some benchmarks before I buy. If the SGX540 keeps the lead maybe I'll stick with my SGS.
samsung got tegra 2 also for I9103 phone
but SGX543 was good a option
Samsung pr overhyped their processor capabilities. But I guess there not confident in there own soc. If they decided to make a tegra 2 version.

i'm pretty sure they are only making a tegra 2 version because they wont be able to manufacture enough orion cores to meet the demand.
i think that the galaxy tab gpu is clocked at higher speed than galaxy s as it gives same score at neocore on (1024x600) resolution , am i wrong

Just as we lay to rest the ghost of a phantom Tegra 2 chip inside the LG Revolution, here comes the specter of another unconfirmed appearance for NVIDIA's dual-core application processor, this time inside Samsung's Galaxy S II. If you'll recall, we were initially informed by Samsung's PR crew that their new Android flagship would run on NVIDIA's hardware, however a subsequent correction informed us that the processor inside would in fact be Samsung's own Exynos. Now, it turns out, both might be true. AnandTech have come across some benchmark results showing a GT-i9103 with Tegra 2 listed as its grunt provider, while Pocket-lint and others have noted that Samsung's own spec sheet for the Galaxy S II states that the dual-core Exynos "may not be applicable in some regions." The likeliest scenario here is that Samsung hasn't yet reached sufficient volumes with its own processor production and will rely on NVIDIA's Tegra 2 for handsets outside its critical markets -- much in the same vein as it replaced Super AMOLED with Super Clear LCD screens in Russia and some other territories. Don't fret too much, though, performance disparities between the two aren't likely to be overly significant.

How annoying will it be to develop custom roms for the upcoming Galaxy S II.
All I want is a non-keyboard rocking 4g LTE/WIMAX Galaxy S2 Variant for Sprint, it's either that or I buy the Galaxy S II and stay with the expensive deathstar (ATT)!

from everything ive seen tegra2 is better.. sigh i want tegra2 with samoled+ screen, tegra2 has better graphics and better java and flash rendering.. which honestly is all that matters, since nothing is delayed on the galaxy s1 right now except the internet..
I did read a post (I think it was on engadget) that said, the Samsung galaxy s 2s that have a tegra 2 CPU will also have a LCD screen and not a amoled.

Anandtech did some benchmark testing in Barcelona.
http://www.anandtech.com/Show/Index...i-preliminary-performance-mali400-benchmarked
But the SW used at that conference (and maybe the HW since the phone gets very hot according to Anandtech) is probably not finished.
And benchmarks can be unreliable.
Unoptimised drivers is what it falls down to. Tegra has been around for longer, so it most likely has been optimised better.
Just need to wait and see.
Yeah, and samsung is well known for developping great drivers and software, which is updated regularly, just like the SGS had great performances out of the box thanx to the clever use of RFS
I do agree that it's to soon to know exactly how it will perform, but I wouldn't count too much on samsung improving performances :-/

That actually depends. There is a get it now button on games that have been released. The preview games don't have that. Also some games aren't available in all regions. An example on which it worked was dungeon defenders.
First I was like yay because Tegra 2 is awesome, but then I began thinking and yeah this is going to be a damn mess.
We could get the forum split up in GT-I9100 (Exynos version) and GT-I9103 (Tegra 2 version) and the damage could decrease, but it will still split up the Galaxy S II community on here and it depends what version the ROM makers are going to buy, unless there is no difference between the GT-I9100 and the GT-I9103 except for that it has a different SoC I don't see the big problem
I wonder whether the shortage of Exynos chips could be due to Apple's A5. At this point nobody knows what the A5 is, however the A4 was Sammy's Hummingbird so the A5 could just be the Exynos...
Guess we'll find out on the 11th.

Amazing? No sign of U.S. S3 Variants

Isn't it amazing that almost 6 days before the release of the Galaxy s 3 in the U.S. that there's been no leakage of benchmarks, T mobile software on the S3 or anything pertaining to comparison between the 2gigs and S4 vs the Exynos edition?
It's just different because we usually have something besides specs when there's less than a week to go for a release.
I don't want to waste my time purchasing the phone and having to send it back because it's not as smooth as the UK varient. I truly wanted exynos but currently banking on the 2 gigs for a wash. Samsung and T -mo won't be getting my $650 if not

They haven't tested this particular SoC, but there are plenty of tests and benchmarks with the US version of the HTC One X, and that thing runs great. So you are safe to assume the Galaxy S III will run smooth, especially since it has 2GB of ram instead of 1GB on the One X.
Don't worry, the phone is gonna feel buttery smooth.

cool.. I've noticed the HTC One x web browsing and smoothness throughout sense 4/ICS wasn't all that smooth.. I also had the HTC one s from T mobile and it wasn't as fast a benchmarks indicated with real life use.. Now maybe that's just because of a buggy sense 4.0 or the fact that the S4 is just a number puncher and not a buttery smooth processor like the Exynos definitely is.
Thanks for your reply

first time i saw a 6000 score.. that's probably rooted with processor tweaks
thanks for the link for the S4 chip!
there have been lots of debate regarding the S4 vs Exynos. imo, the S4 is a better CPU whereas the Exynos has the better GPU.
i've said this time and time again, if you upload/download a lot of files (esp big ones), the S4 is the one for you. if you want to play a lot of high end games on your phone, the Exynos is for you, though not many games take advantage of that right now.
on the CPU front, no applications make use of quad-core. a lot of apps have just now started making use of quad-cores.

Thanks... However, i feel that the Enynos in the Galaxy s 2 was so smooth that Android should make it mandatory for all android handsets lol... GPU must have to do with the browser performance as well because of the graphics in pinch to zoom.. I have yet to see a browser, even with the s4 (HTC series phones) zoom in and out of flash heavy websites with buttery smooth performance like the exynos ALWAYS DOES. That's what I'm looking for. Hopefully this verision will be as buttery as the Exynos.. people wonder why it's so popular.. it's just that gooood!

S4 Specs leak?

An antuntu benchmark for the S4 has leaked it's specs.
Network: GSM/WCDMA/LTE
CPU: Exynos 5410 1.8Ghz
CPU Cores: 4 + 4!!
GPU Model: PowerVR SGX 544 MP
System: OS 4.2
Display:
Screen size: 4.99
Resolution: 1920X1080
Camera:
Front cam: 2.1 mp
Rear: 13 mp
RAM: 2 gb.
Antutu populates that information by hand for the major devices, it cannot be retrieved from the system information.
Without confirmation it means nothing.
Speculation, in the case of them manually putting it on their servers, if it's automatic it's a fake benchmark.

.... sometimes you really post some nonsense.
Those numbers are just dividers, the actual score is 24.5k...

Facepalm, upon facepalm, upon facepalm. I'll go ahead and cite what the great Codeworkx has in his signature. A very inspiring line of text, actually.

Some people also don't seem to really grasp that it's possible, with a few smaller edits, to make a device display as another device. Is it really that hard to just wait until the darn presentation of the device (March 14th, I think it was) before getting hyped about possibly faked specifications?

as i know u can't fake CPU - GPU - screen res in Antutu : ( until u hack their servers or the app or maybe they fake it) who knows
Omg omg omg look what I got my hands on!!!

Yeah but apparently there's supposed to be a problem with the exynos octa overheating
So we'll just have to wait and see
stupidly will be met by sarcasm

This was speculation by a major analyst. It isn't fact, it's just an educated guess at this point.
It could be official.
AFAIK, I don't believe benchmark scores in antuntu.
If you put trust into those scores, you could say that dancing around in your garden naked for 5 minutes increases your device's performance.
Well but the specs do look somewhat similiar to what we heard.
Wasn't the rumour of 13 mp, 2gb ram and 8 cores going around?
And here's proof:
I saw an article up on DroidViews as well about this. He was decent enough to upload a photo.
Whats this obsession with posting S4 things in a s3 forum?

Except antutu doesn't recognise the GT-I9500 as the S4 yet.

No idea.
I've seen people posting s4 things here,
When s3 was releasing the s2 forums were filled with s3 leaks etc.
When s2 was releasing the s forums were filled with s2 leaks.
Looks like a chain cycle.

droidfish chess 4 cores speed test

hi
can someone install droidfish chess app, set on 4 cores and from initial board position will do analysis to see if knps passes 1000...lg g2 failed to pass 600 which is low. interesting to see it that aspect was improved with new chip/memory speed...

for example, galaxy note 3 result:

It's 602k.
I got 608K, also running HolyAngel's kernel as well, FYI, with CPU at 2.5 and smartassv2 enabled.
thanks to all. I guess need to wait to new Quallcom chip 805 to see if this will be improved..

No problem, just don't forget the Thanks button.
I do wonder if it's the QHD display that drags down the nps with the G3, compared the Note 3 with similar specs...

My note 3 is with Exynos cpu so it performs much better in this kind of cpu load.... i dont see any relation to QHD display which is handled by gpu part..

This is L1 cache that matters to chess... not Ghz
Dear all,
Let me contribute to that topic with some more precision.
If you are looking for more Nodes per second, the decisive criteria is the L1 CACHE of the CPU. It plays much more on the outcome compared to the frequency. I am quite sure about that after trying this test on different Snapdragons.
Snapdragons have 16K data + 16K instruction cache. Therefore, even a Galaxy Note IV can barely reach 700K despite 2.65Ghz speed of the Snapdragon 805, while its Exynos brother boosts no less than 1400K.
You may recall the Exynos is octa-core. and SD805 is only 4 cores. If we are supposed to think that's the reason, come explain 730K made with the Exynos 4412 of Galaxy Note 2 which runs @ 1.6 x 4 cores.
Exynos CPU's have 32K+32K L1 cache! That's why they perform surprisingly better. But be careful with all this big.LITTLE thing which is extremely mind confusing. I did not test a note III or a Galaxy Tab with Exynos 4+4 cpu's. They all have low freq set of cores which, if used, could seriously reduce the speed. But i guess engines like Stockfish will force the hi-freq cores. In Note-III case, that means 1.9 Ghz x 4 cores.
The L1-cache effect is obvious on Apple CPU's which have 1.3Ghz x 4 cores but 64K cache. They perform easily around 1300K.
Finally, stay away from Snapdragons if you use Droidfish and check for octa cores, capable of working together at peak speed and insist on 32K+32K L1 cache minimum per core !!!
Alternatively Mediatek octa core CPU's have 8 cores working in parallel at speeds up to 2.0Ghz. They should give 1200 Knps. MTK6592 for example is a concrete low-cost potential. Give it a try if you can. Mediatek will soon release stronger CPU's but they will be big.LITTLE too, unfortunately...
All i say above applies to chess only. Real life usage, internet, movies, games, social media etc is totally a different world and Snapdragon 805 is a monster there! Qualcomm does not and should not focus on delivering the best chess CPU for mobiles., for us, freaks and they are right in what they are doing for mass users market.
