sms stopped working? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just noticed that my text messaging stop sending and receiving. I restated my phone but no change.
Tested my wifes note 3, and sms works on her phone.
Do I need to try resetting something?

OK, if this happens to anyone else.
I went into application manager and opened the message app.
I cleared the memory, then the cache.
Voila, fixed.

Major problem - SMS is dead

Hey all, i run the latest MIUI and up until three-four days ago, my SMS worked just fine. Then, I changed themes and my SMS quit working. Initially i thought it was something to do with the theme(even if that seemed far fetched) so i reverted back to the previous theme. No luck.
As it stands, i haven't been receiving or sending SMS for several days, even though i get confirmation that the message has been sent. Any ideas?

Are you using google voice by any chance?
So i had the EXACT same issue. Made a small change and totally lost my ability to send and receive sms. 100% gone but everything else worked perfectly. I tried every solution, other roms, stock rom, radio updates, disabled my google voice (which did have its own set of issues...)...
Finally I restored my EVO to factory, as in had to make it non rooted, then I re-rooted it, installed my CM7 again, and bingo. Everything was perfect.
Anyways

Not really a bug; it can get set to auto handle your texts; you go into the sync and notifications in settings, then disable it.

[Q] Sending text over wifi

Sorry if this issue has been posted before. I'm having issues sending text over wifi. To do so I have to disconnect wifi in order to send it. Anyone else having this same issue and if so what can be done to fix it? This is driving me crazy. I'm on Verizon and it's a Note 3

Wifi shouldn't have anything to do with sending text messages.
As long as you have good cell service your text messages should send and receive fine.
Are you talking about picture messages?

I think it's a Verizon issue.. I have the Note 2 with the same issue... Only works with data mode. I can receive messages in WiFi but if they include a pic, I get a placeholder. Then I have to turn data on to view. When I inquired from this group the replies were... I don't have a problem.

Yes, always with pics and a handful or regular text. With regular text most of the time the wheel at the bottom of the text just keeps spinning

I had the same problem. This is how I fixed it for me.
I downloaded 8SMS. It's AOSP on steroids. You can use whatever your favorite SMS replacement app as long as you can manually set the MMSC.
For 8SMS, open settings, open MMSC settings, enter the following WITHOUT QUOTES. "http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms"
make sure MMS over wifi is NOT enabled as Verizon doesn't support this.
btw, I uninstalled the built in messaging app to eliminate any conflicting issues and then configured 8SMS to be "stand-alone mode".
Do you have Adblock Plus installed? That was the culprit for me. Once I uninstalled it, it started working fine.

That's a good point. I forgot about that. I think I had that problem as well. I switched to AdAway which I find is much better and cleaner anyway!

NOT able to send or receive picture messages!!!

I am currently using a stock everything 6p with a Verizon sim for some strange reason today I'm not able to send or receive pictures on the stock messaging app. I read a few other people been having this same issue. Has anyone found the solution yet?
Are you using pushbullet by chance?

Couple of things. 1 check to see if you connected to LTE, You cannot send MMS over wifi on Verizon. They took that feature out, dont know why. Second, Check to see if there any old MMS that are stuck, its good idea to delete all old MMS that are pending to be sent and retry.
Someone else posted something similar the other night, they had one of those old MMS stuck in resizing. He deleted that message and his MMS started working again.
I have a similar problem since I updated to Verizon Message version 6.06. I could not go back to the last version, and I was unable to find the prior version APK file; however, Amazon had a very old version of Verizon Message, so I loaded that and it fixed the issue. I was also able to use the stock message app to get and send MMS, but with Verizon's app I could not.
Rob
Turn data on.

Hi, without trying to hijack the thread, why solid this be an issue? I am having trouble with my s5 cm 13 alpha and assumed it was because of that, but does pushbullet affect it?

I had trouble with my 6p sending MMS. After googling it, I found people with the same issue and quite a few had pushbullet installed and said that once they uninstalled it, it worked fine. Once I uninstalled it, MMS started working again.

This happened to me the other day. I tried turning data on/off, airport mode on/off, restarting the device, clearing data&cache from the Messages application as well as reverting Messages to factory and reinstalling the updates.
Either by chance or by one/all of those things, it seemed to clear up.
This is not just Verizon, it's happening to T-Mobile also but I don't think it's a carrier issue. My nexus 5 does the same thing as my 6p. Rebooting the phones and it starts working again. This affects group messaging also. When I receive a group text it days unable to download. Restart they phone and it comes through. Hopefully this is a marshmallow issue that will hey fixed ota.
It's the app. Mostly happens to me when WiFi is connected with "WiFi calling" enabled. I disable WiFi and reboot the phone and then everything works again. It happens to me once in every month, if that. Don't bother me much.

Can't send SMS - APK1

I'm on APK1 - Rooted. A few days ago, I've lost the ability to send SMS. I can receive SMS just fine, however. I've checked APN settings, tried over WiFi, using a different SMS app and none of that seems to be working. I have seen others talk about this issues as well. I wanted to start a new thread for some fresh ideas..
Thanks
It might be something on AT&T's end. Sounds like you covered your bases. I'd call them

I can't get it to update once I put the number in. Do you need quotes around the number?

I had to put it in a few times to get it to stick. If that doesn't work, download GOSMS from the Play Store, that won't require any customizations. Just install and allow the premissons when asked.
I never could get the "update" button to work. I downloaded go sms, set it up, and sent a few texts. After that, all of the sudden the regular text app worked.

Message app problem

Get notifications Everytime I access message app that, messages have not been sent.
They have, that's an old notification but haven't found anyway to get rid of it.
Have tried everything I know of other than wiping the phone.
Know I am missing something but not sure what any help greatly appreciated.

Yeah I used Evolve to do that, and that problem went away, but had problems with receiving texts so switched back to Messenger and it just picked up where it left off w/ notification.
There must be a real solution to this but not sure where to reset or what file to remove to get the notification message to go away.
It's just annoying.
Cleared app cache and storage but that did nothing, it's some mystery file somewhere.
