Some time ago my nexus 7 powered off and didn't boot back or show the charging animation.
I tried Google solutions and non worked, I looked all over the internet for solution tried tons of stuff but nothing worked.
I tried charging it for nights tried holding power button for minutes, volume buttons for minutes, power button & volume button for minutes.
For some reason when connecting it to the computer the computer does recognize it as unknown device.
Sorry if its a repost.
Please help.
If it is matter i own a nexus 7 3g 32gb.

I don't think you can do much about it than. Send it back to Asus for repair.

I have this exact problem. The tablet got worse and worse. I am fairly certain the usb port has faulted some how.
There is a thread here about charging problems and suggested fixes....
https://productforums.google.com/forum/m/#!msg/nexus/wrTqHYhS-Vw/aeh9wYrQYxUJ
While there is no definitive fix, the one that helped me.....i did not ever get completely flat battery like yourselves.... was charging through the pogo pins. The docks do this, i dont have a dock but managed to charge through a diy solution.

Just got my nexus 4, and after it was left in cwm for about 10 minutes (while I was making breakfast) it went to a black screen and now just the red led notification led is flashing whenever plugged in, and on my mac in system profiler it shows "composite device", any suggestions?
Thanks!

Don't know if you want to do this, but you can open the phone and disconnect and reconnect the battery connector...
What was your battery level, I know in other devices some times the CPU(s) run at full speed in recovery allowing for quicker flashing this could discharge the battery rapidly. Also a flashing red LED when plugged in normally means the phone is charging but doesn't have enough charge to reliably turn on, leave it plugged in for about 15 minutes and try turning it on again.
Try holding down the VOL + and - keys along with the powerbutton (after turning it off by holding down the power button for an extended time) and see if you can get into fastboot. My friend's Nexus 4 kept bootlooping after he unlocked the bootloader but booted straight to CWM after, not letting it erase userdata first.

I have no problem doing this, the phone seems easy to disassemble, looks alot like a overgrown iPhone 4, 2 screws on the bottom. I just hope its an easy slide, I don;t want to mar it in case I have to exchange it.

I thought this as well, its been plugged in for at least an hour now.
Oh and now I don't even get the red led!
good times..
I've got the exact same issue. Plugged it in last night to charge and this morning it wouldn't turn on. Plugged and unplugged it and the red LED starts flashing. After a minute or so I'm getting the battery charge animation on the screen - so the red LED is power related. Now to see if it actually charges up and boots.
Hi nycbjr. I have seen a similar issue posted here, but I can't find the thread at the moment, try searching. If I remember correctly then he got it working by holding power, volume keys and then plugging in the charger.

I was playing around with modems/radios using 5iromtoolboxband now my nexus 4 is completely dead.
There is no life signals even if I connect the charger. Or pressing any vol+power combination.
When I connect it to the computer windows shows something (I do not remember know I will update it latter)
Is there a solutions? Is it easy?

Totally new here. got my nexus 7(2012) since nov 2012. This morning, I was chatting with friends and my device suddenly froze for 10 mins. i couldnt wait long so i restarted it by holding the power button. now it won't open even if i did the power + volume keys, nothing appears. even when i plug it in the wall charger or on my pc and laptop. still no charging logo or any indication it was on and my laptop says installing new device but always ends up failing so i cant back up my files from my device. I'm not a techy person so i made absolute no effort to root my device. just chatting and some occasional gaming. Please help can't afford to buy a new device for a long while
*btw its a 32gb nexus 7(2012). not sure if this additional info is helpful or not.
Do you get any sort of screen when you try to turn it on ? I.E. do you see the Google logo for a few seconds? Or do you see nothing?
My guess is with a hardware failure or your battery has come loose. When my battery becomes unplugged, I will see the Google logo and then a bunch of funky colors and it will reboot constantly when plugged in. It dies if unplugged, and It also turns on the second it is plugged in.
So if you suspect the battery, there are videos on YouTube to walk you through popping the back off along with pushing the battery back in. I used black electrical tape to hold my battery in place better once I confirmed that was what my problem was.

I would check to see if the battery connection came loose. Its an easy fix to try and was your tablet overly hot or any bulging?

i am so sorry for not replying. i know its too late now because i was asking this info on another thread. i i already tried removing and reinserting the battery on my device.
the nature of my device is that its all black screen. even when you charge it, theres no charging animation that shows or any backlight. its like its really off without anything plugged.
when i plugged it in the pc under device manager, it says apx mode. kinda depressed cuz i think the device is already dead cuz i cant even do the power button + vol down thingie :crying:.
Try pressing and holding in the power button for a long time, up to a minute.

Hello everyone.
3 days ago, I was charging my nexus 4, I checked and it was at 80%, and after a while, I rechecked it to find it dead : no boot, no charging icone, nothing. Even if im familiar with this problem (happened to me once before I replaced the battery), I tried different methods to resolve the issue : pressing volume down and power button and plugging charger or usb cable million times, letting the phone charges over night, charge it on computer, taking off the battery and trying to charge it seperatly (saw a thread on this forum), nothing happened, just a blinking red LED whenever I press volume down or up and power button over 10-15 sec and plug it. I even checked the battery with a multimeter and it emmites voltage, so I think the battery is good (1 and a half months old).
Please help me with this.
P.S: the charger used when the phone died was a faulty : if u touch it or expand (till tight) the wire, it stops charging, and u have the press the head tight so it goes back to function, and the one I used for testing all I said above was a good one.
No1 to provide any help? Come on XDA !
Did you try under volt using any kernels? I've heard this causes the issue not sure though
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
No I didnt flash any new roms nor kernels, the phone runs stock android 5.0.1
May be the faulty charger caused it.. And if you are using charger other than the original make sure the output is same as the original, because I used Sony charger and it took ages to charge, so what I think is may be the charger you are using fails to provide enough out put to get it charged, if still no luck then service center is only option left

yes that's what Im thinking.. I dont own an original charger but I used a sony one that has a slight difference with the original LG one (in the Amps : Lg : 1.2A and Sony : 1.5A) but the phone is still dead :/ the repair store said that it needs flashing the stock rom --" Idk how --"

Is your PC able to detect it? Try the method of rebooting to fastboot (neglect if you screen is blank) and check if it detects flash factory firmwares
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
for pc, I hear the "new device" sound and the LED turns red for abt 3 seconds or maybe 5 but its not detected and then the LED turns off, and if I plug the phone while holding the buttons volume and power, It also make the same thing and after that I hear the disconnect sound, and if I maintain the press I hear the disconnect sound every 10 sec or so with the LED blinking continuously.
How do I fastboot in this case? and IDK how to install the ADB things and get it to work, I did a lot of this on my XPERIA P but for the nexus I never did and I couldnt grasp well some of the explainations out there + It's meant to ppl with normal devices and not broken ones (enable debugging mode etc..)
For almost any device download minimal adb and fastboot, install drivers, connect the phone and type adb devices and check if it gets detected,if no then hold vol down and power button to boot into recovery and then type fastboot devices and check if still not detected, right click in my computer and select manage devices and check if there is a device which is not installed then install it manually , and repeat adb and fastboot steps if still not detected then I can't help you

My Nexus 7 2012 suddenly died, trying to use after a long time. It was stuck at loading so I wiped cache and it booted fine was very slow and sort of felt stuck so I rebooted and it never powered on again. It doesnt even show charging battery sign when plugged in. I tried everything nothing worked.
1) Pushed the power button for a minute and combination of other buttons as well
2) Left the battery for charging for hours at least 24 hours
3 Tried charging battery manually by removing it (like mentioned in many youtube videos etc)
I thought battery died but if I connect a small bulb to the battery it works fine, so I do not think battery is dead. What should I do? PC doesnt recognize it but if I plug it in the PC usb port and try to power on the tablet it does make a sound when something is connected to the PC but nothing shows up and it never charges.
What do you think it is? How should I fix this?
anyone?
I think the motherboard has died. The solution is a motherboard replacement.
I was given a Nexus 7 (2012) that had the same problem. The procedure in this video fixed it. Take note that there are two cells in the battery, two red wires and two black wires, you need to charge both cells. I made up a double lead and charged them both at the same time from a Samsung 1.0 amp charger, no problems. The unit now charges to 100% and works fine.
Forum wouldn't let me post a link. Search youtube for "Nexus 7 dead" and check the video by Doug Peng. Worked like a charm for me.

Hi, mannesty...
I've found this link...
...but here, Doug Peng talks about the Nexus 7 2013 model, the successor to the original Nexus 7 2012, so I'm dubious how much of what he says can be applied to the OP's original 1st generation Nexus 7.
----------------------------------
My view, is that I think the OP's device is hardbricked, with a corrupted or erased bootloader.
From his/her more recent post...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/help/figured-reviving-nexus-7-blob-files-t3983203
This is also highly suggestive of it too...

The charging battery animation, with the device in a powered off state, is part of the bootloader. It's failure to appear strongly suggests the bootloader is corrupted/overwritten/erased and the device thereby hardbricked, and the only tenable solution is a motherboard replacement, as a previous poster here has suggested.
Having said all of that though, it couldn't hurt to have a tinker around with the battery ~ and maybe Doug Peng might have something useful that just might work.
Rgrds,
Ged.
