I bet you are using either the Lockscreen Gmail widget or the Launcher Gmail Widget...
That's a known bug on LG G2!
Stop using it and you will run stable again!
Let us know...

Hello G2 users,
like mentioned in the thread title, my G2 is rebooting at least once a day.
Is there any way to find out what is causing this, or do I have to do a wipe?
Are you on stock, unrooted or custom rom? Try factory reset if you haven't try it yet.
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
Ahh, forgot to mention, I am on stock 4.4.2 rooted with Xposed Framework and a few modules.
I am a bit afraid of a factory reset, as I do have my G2 how I want it to be, would be a lot of work to get there, where I am now.

Use the built-in backup utility to backup your whole system, copy the file to your computer, then do a factory reset. After going through the initial setup, copy the file back to your phone and restore.

Sounds like your Xposed Modules are probably causing it.
I only use G2 Xposed module. It seems to do pretty much everything you need.
That or you have Facebook install or some other app that is killing you. I agree with a wipe. Then take it slow when restoring apps. Run bare for a few days with just basic core apps. Then install Xposed and G2 Xposed. Tweak it and run it for a few days. Slowly add in a few apps at a time until you find the one that is doing it.
Some people have said Swype Keyboard was causing reboots.
I had this too on KitKat never used xposed or anything like that. I am rooted though. The last_kmsg log shows an error that seems to be related to some sort of logging. Disabling this option in kernel can stop the reboots but need to build a modified kernel for that. I could be totally wrong like but that's just from my reading up...

Thank you guys, I am sadly not skilled enough to build a kernel, and already tested a lot of things, but I guess that I have to bite in the sour apple and do a factory reset

May i help you ? I can image how annoying it would be. You can start sending me the last_kmsg file . Just install a terminal emulator and type this commands after an unexpected reboot
su
cat /proc/last_kmsg > /sdcard/last_kmsg.txt
Then you could also record the logcat and send me that too(you can use catlog for that purpose)

Hey mate nice to see you here!
I had the idea to post this in your thread first, but decided to start a new thread as I know that you do have a lot of work and didn't want to bother you .
Great, I will install an emulator on my G2 (any recommendations?) and send you the ksmg file.
Thank you in advance!
are you running stoc or custom kernel?
@danial,I am running stock kernel.
I believe it's an android kitkat thing. It's partook the 4.4.3 change log to fix the random rebooting issue

honestly it happened to me too on my d803... just like once every 24 hours... somewhere randomly the phone will reboot :S.... could not find a pattern why it was...
but after installing simple kernel now its happening once every two days or so... no idea if it is the kitkat bug or what...

OK, tried everything now, deinstalled SwiftKey, other kernels, other rom, factory reset....
Still rebooting, yesterday during a call, I guess my G2 won't survive long, while every reboot I have to count until 10 to prevent me from smashing it on the ground .
Thinking about a new smartphone, maybe a Nexus 5....

Now I'm on slimkat and i have 0 reboots atm, the dev say that is fixing the issue on next build for sure, and it have only minor issue like BT drain also if not paired and other small things that will be fixed asap. Btw I understand you but better battery life is keeping me on this phone atleast until N6 appear on market.

Lately my phone has been randomly rebooting like crazy. At least once a day. I can't remember when this started exactly and there doesn't appear to be any particular reason. I'll just be doing something and all at once it will freeze and then reboot. Is there any app or way to determine why this is happening? It's driving me nuts. I know it's only once a day and it only takes like 45 secs to reboot. But I don't know why it's happening...

You could install SysLog from the Play Store and run it after each reboot. That will capture the dmsg and last_kmsg, as well as the modem log and something else. You can easily email that to the ROM dev and maybe he can help you sort it out.
You could also try freezing all non stock apps with titanium backup. Then unfreeze them only as you need one at a time, then to try to troubleshoot if its an app.

I am not completely sure, but doesn't Autorec install the stock kernel (patched only for loki etc).
Thread title asks just for the Stock Kernel and since you have already a custom recovery , you would need a patched kernel. Doesnt have to be Dorimax.
Or really completely stock with everything and unroot?
Oh, I'm sorry. I meant I want things to go back the way they were - stock 4.4.2, stock kernel, no custom recovery. Is it even possible without a complete reinstall and wipe?

when installing a new kernel you should never judge by one day, you should always allow 2-3 days for everything to fall in place, saying the above is like installing a new rom and if in few hours its draining fast you blame the rom but in reality you didn't give things a chance to fall in place and run as they are supposed to

So you mean to say It's ok that it takes like 4 sec to show mobile data settings (long press on mobile data icon)? That's an example. And also I don't know much about benchmarks but the I/O score in quadrant went down to 5200ish.

well naturally for flashing a kernel you wipe dalvik/cache and I mentioned earlier if you want to go back to stock you would need to use back to stock guide which will erase everything on your phone so backup anything important
So I guess there is no way of restoring kernel and recovery without wipe?

I had the same issue and fixed by flashing this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52182215&postcount=449
When I flashed stock 4.4.3 update (kernel, radio and firmware) I thought maybe I've installed a bad ROM.
Every time I backed out of certain applications, the last application in the recent apps list (the one before the one I just backed out from) opened for a second and closed it self.
For example, I played Boom beach, sent it to background using HOME.
Then, I used App Stats, played around in some screens and then backed out of it -> Boom beach opened for a second and closed itself.
Then I installed the 4.4.4 update, and this still occurs...
This doesn't happen with every application... I can back out of most apps without any issue.
This never happened on 4.4.2 and lower.
It may be an app issue and not the system so I'd love a feedback from you guys before I contact the apps developers.
Am I the only one who experience this issue?

Wiped my data couple of times and reflashed different Roms. Most of them had this issue.
You suggest a factory reset through settings will do the trick?

Very weird... I wonder how this is not well known by now. Did you update your firmware with the OTA or a flashable zip? Maybe it's ROM related?

I factory resetted in TWRP then Fastboot erased leaving no trace behind, and then fastboot flashed 4.4.3. It's stock.
It's probably not well known because people may be using their device differently, pressing Home to exit an app instead of using Back maybe... or they don't think much of it to report it, I know I didn't, but it does get annoying after a while.

Well, I don't have this bug. I just opened CSR Racing, pressed Home to minimize it, then I opened eBay application, then I pressed Back, and it went normally to home screen, CSR Racing did not appear.
EDIT: I managed to reproduce it. CSR Racing appeared for a second when I exited from Settings. I never noticed this until I read this topic. So, bug exists.

That's a known bug... No kernel or rom can change it. Funny how people think changing kernel can solve it lol.
Possibly it's related to Android system/systemui. I think only Google can fix this issue...

I'm sorry to ruin your LOLness but it may be a kernel/ROM related issue. I already found a 4.4.3 ROM (LiquidSmooth 3.0, didn't check 3.1) where this bug doesn't occur.
Moreover, the kernel is responsible for cleaning up the memory by killing and restarting applications.
I created a small application that behaves like a taskiller (restartPackage/killBackgroundProcesses) and kills every app I exit, just for testing purposes and it didn't work as expected on 4.4.3/4.4.4 so I think it's probably a kernel issue (4.4.3 received an updated kernel which is used on 4.4.4 as well).
It can still be a systemUI issue but even if it is, that can be fixed on AOSP ROMs, without waiting for Google.
If you have a link to the reported bug ("known bug"?) that would be great.
Edit. Bug persists with CM11
