Dear all,
I'm starting this thread because I understand that many of us are interested on multi user functionality on Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition.
I will start by mentioning the things I've learned so far, regarding the Wi-Fi model (SMP600). I think that more or less the same applies to the 3G & LTE models as well.
- European Models have the MJ9 firmware
- Some have the MK1 update, but this doesn't add multi user functionality
- The US MK1 firmware (P600UEUBMK1), adds the multi user functionality
My understanding is that we can all flash the US MK1 firmware via odin, without tripping the Knox counter. Recently I flashed an EGY MK1 firmware on my EUR galaxy, without any issues at all.
But, can anybody confirm that the US MK1 multi user works? I remember reading somewhere that it was problematic.
So lets discuss all this here, if its ok with you.

I remember someone mentioning that when switching users, all bloatware were re-enabled. Maybe he didn't perform a factory reset or something.
You don't have this issue, do you?

It does that. Also it freezes few times a week and always does an extra reboot when powering on.
I also have the European p-605. There is no firmware upgrade available. Is there a multiuser firmware out or will there ever be one?

Yeah EU/UK are still on old firmware, i reckon we wont get an update until whenever we get KitKat now so could be a few months away before we get Multi-user support. Just have to wait unfortunatly.
Sent from Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition via Tapatalk.
Who is to blame for the regional update delays really? Is it Samsung decision to not release them OTA everywhere or is it the lack of interest regionally?
well i decided to finally flash the MK1 XAR*fw on my "Greek" galaxy and Im using it for some days now without any problems.
switching between users is fast and without any freeze issues at all. I dont have the re-enabled bloatware issue, but I have them disabled in both profiles anyway.
Also no knox triggered and everything official and smooth.

No problems at all with multi user on MK1. It is working flawlessly for me.
Hi guys, does P601 model has any firmware with this feature unlocked? I can't find nothing about it.

Except for restricted profiles still missing. So if you want to create another profile for kids, guests etc, you still need to log in with a Google account if you want to install apps. And if you want to install some apps you've bought on your main account, then that account must be your main Google account meaning shared search history, calendar, Gmail etc.
Sucks but well... This is Samsung

Maybe go to account settings in the device options and delete it there

Have any of you tried the switchme app? It exactly what your all looking for as far a security between multiple users. The pro version is the way to go tho, as the free version won't support the security features. I use to use it on my old note 10.1 and it worked perfectly.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
It requires root which I'm not willing to do.
i have the p605 and i have multi user.... how? well im rooted and have xposed framework installed and there is a module called Multiple Users for Phone, this says its for AOSP only but works perfectly fine on the 605..... i tried it on my note 3 on stock samsung rom and it cracked a s***, on the p605 though it does seem to glitch and go slow at switching.... i get the feeling its not meant to work or something..... hope this make afew people happy to learn this
Multi-user now also works on my Note 10.1 - 2014 using KitKat (SPAIN FW)
Now for all of you out there also waiting for the Multi-User option. I was waiting for it as well, but wasn't confident Samsung would include it in the 4.4 Stock update, and it was missing in the original 4.3 Stock FW. Excellent news, since the Multi-user option is now actually there in the KitKat 4.4 update for the SM-P600/WiFi/32Gb (as it is on my other tablet, the Sony Z2 Tablet, which was delivered with 4.4 from the start).
Please see thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54072932 for more details and for KitKat 4.4 download locations and instructions.

Hi guys.
Need your support and guidance on an issue with Kies 3. I have a Note 3 SM-9005, unrooted, unbranded/factory unlocked. So far, I have only received 2 updates via Kies. In other words, no tempering has been done.
However, now that I plugin my Note3 and run kies3, it says 'Galaxy Note3 (SM-N9005)' does not support.
Since I am unable to attach screenshots, I am posting necessary info below:

CSC: MJ4 (XSI)
(as per Kies, this is the latest firmware available as well)
Baseband Version : N9005XXUDMJ7
Build Number : JSS15J.N9005XXUDMJ7
Would appreciate any help.

I believe it might be a problem with KIES 3 itself - it seems that it does not fully support any of the N9005 newer bootloaders (>= MJ3). I would have expected by now to have a better version but there is something strange going on there

No, the normal Samsung updates come Over The Air (OTA) directly to the phone and without the need for Kies (as long as you are not rooted, in which case you need to manually update - with Odin or Mobile Odin Pro).

That's some relief. Thanks a lot bro!!!
Sorry for being such a noob but I have never ordered a device internationally before. Anyways I have just rooted my device (SM-P605) and I'm curious what the latest firmware is because I don't believe I get OTA upgrades here in the States. Right now I'm running Android 4.3 on baseband version P605XXUBMJ4 and Build Number JSS15J.P605ZSUBMJ6.
Is there a newer version I should be using? Trying to check via the official bounces me to Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available.
Also, are there plans for Kit Kat in the future? Or perhaps there already is a mod that includes the latest version of Android.
MJ9 is the Latest i guess

Yes, but no release date is set, or known by us. Samsung said "soon".

How do I manually upgrade to MJ9? Do I need to un-root and flash to stock before doing anything. I also notice that my basebuild and build are running different numbers. How did that happen, is it a problem, and how do you fix it?

You will not brick it, in the worst case you'd have to flash it again with another CSC. CSC is the region of your device. For a close shot, forget about the country and either flash US firmwares if your device is US, or EU firmwares if your device is anywhere from Europe.
No, it is included in the firmware file. There is absolutely no reason to look for a baseband file (or RIL).
Unless your driver somehow got screwed, which usually happens when you install wrong, or badly matched kernels. In that case you will hear very disturbed sound (this error is very clear, if you get this problem, you know 100% that it is there. It isn't like "did i hear a scratch in my speaker for a second?").
thatblokematti said:

Get Odin, get the drivers, read the instruction. Just the usual odin procedure.
You don't need to unroot/re-stock, but if you are very paranoid, you can use a custom recovery to wipe /system before flashing (don't do it unless you know you need it. If you don't - you don't need to do it. I am only telling you this because you might want it in the future when you try many different modded ROMs).
Baseband and build v. can differ, this is not a problem nor something you should worry about.

do you know if there is any firmware for sm-p605 with multiple user support?
No there isnt. When KitKat comes we get Multiuser Support.
You can't downgrade the bootloader.
Flashing an older firmware that the bootloader doesn't support will end up with a tablet hanging on the samsung logo. Just need to reflash newer firmware to fix
Flashing a bootloader for another device - you might as well throw it off a highrise and hope it still works when it hits bottom...
P600 and P601 roms WILL NOT work with the P605. It's like trying to use helicopter parts to fix a car engine....
So essentially, I'm in a bit of a tricky situation:
I have a Vodafone UK GT-N7105.
I had stock ROM, before I rooted it and bricked it in the process. I then restored it to a similar (but I suspect different ROM):
AP: N7105XXUEMK9
CP: N7105BUUEMK2
CSC: N7105VFGEML1
The question I have, is that I'm fairly certain that I should be able to update to KitKat now, but neither OTA or Kies3 show anything.
To add to even more confusion, I've switched networks from Vodafone to O2 (UK), now.
Have I reflashed my device with a different firmware which means that I can't get any more OTA updates?
Otherwise, which firmware version would I be able to flash my device to get it "back on track"?
I'm pretty sure Samsung hasn't released 4.4.2 for N7105 (the lte version) yet! The firmware is only available for the N7100. You have to wait...

Tip 2: Here is the easiest was to find the latest stock firmware

Hi There!
The company where I am working provided me with a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (I have a Note2 on my own, so it was pretty straight forward getting used to it!).
The current mobile status is at it follows:
Bootloader : N9005XXUBMI7
Baseband : N9005XXUBMI6
CSC: N9005XSABMI1
Basically, I'm running under an old version of Android 4.3 . Is there any real reason to update it to a newer firmware (Samsung official, I do not want to mess up with a rooted mobile..it is not my mobile after all) ? Is there any *real* improvement in using the device with KitKat (battery life, smoother, etc) ?
I'm asking that because I am still regretting the moment when I decided to update my N7100 from 4.1.2 to 4.3 (and then to 4.4.2)... so I don't really want to update the Note 3 and regretting the update afterwards... (..and then finding out that no, it is not possible to go back to the previous version).
Last firmware available in Australia is N9005XXUENE3_N9005XSAENE1_XSA : with the official XSA I have some apps for free in the App Store (which comes pretty handy). Perhaps, I may try the New Zealand one too (N9005XXUGNG1_N9005NZCGNH1_NZC) that looks more recent.
Or, perhaps, is there any 100% stable leaked firmware made by one of you, based on an official Samsung rom, lighter, cleaned of most of the bloatwares AND a safe way to root the mobile without tripping the Knox?
Thank you all

This is a really a big question and a long story. No one can tell you exactly which version is better in term of battery life, smoothness... Also there is no official changelog from the Samsung. And there are also many threads discussed about these updates. You have to read and decide yourself.

Regarding a safe way to root without tripping the Knox, as your firmware is still MI7, you can use URDLV to root. That will not trip your Knox. You can google for URDLV or start from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522858

Mmmh.... make sense your answer, and it's good already that it is not like "stay away from XYZ version". I guess for the Note2 it was more clear that JB 4.3 was not such a step ahead...fro your answer I can guess that no versions are really "flawly" or defective in this way...

After we pm chat last days about rollback to T900UEUAND4 as unique possibility for rooting, i decided to do a last try before that, and luckily works perfect:
-just did a factory reset to restore from B3 recovery i been trying to prev installed T900UEUANI1 stock, wipe caché with stock recovery, odined cf-auto-root and voilá, just rooted!
No need to do the old B3-rollback-prior-D4 method now. Just a normal auto-root with no hassling.
